After taking measurements he sat down with me for over an hour patiently answering all of my questions. This was my first time considering a major remodel and he was great at anticipating where I would need guidance. He also showed me various completed projects in his portfolio and I was so impressed with the quality of his work. I could tell that he really takes pride in his team and his craftsmanship. Doron was able to provide me with an initial quote on the same day as our consultation. I ended up with further questions and changes, and he graciously set up a zoom call with me to address them the following day. Out of all the contractors that I spoke with, Doron stuck out for being the most passionate about his work and also the most detail oriented. I really appreciated his honesty with me about what I could reasonably expect. As this was my first project, I didn't have a good idea on what to expect regarding costs. Azeen came over, listened carefully to our needs, and patiently discussed all the details with us. Our project was a like-for-like bathroom remodel, and Calibuilder's quote was competitive compared to other companies we considered. Knowing that our neighbors also had a great experience gave us confidence in choosing them. Throughout the project, we had a group chat with Azeen, where we documented all the finer details to ensure nothing was missed. This was incredibly helpful in keeping everyone aligned as the project progressed. Azeen also recommended a few stores for finishes and tiles--we went with Porcelanosa and are very happy with the final result. She prioritized our project, which we really appreciated given the baby could arrive any day. This turned out to be a very detailed and complicated project with many moving parts. We ripped out the entire old bathroom including walls, ceiling, the floor, and redid everything from scratch. We also repositioned the bathtub, vanity, and redid the entire plumbing system. The project manager, Azeen was very responsive, involved and caring. Along the way, Azeen was always available to answer any of our project/progress related questions, to address our concerns, and to discuss next steps. Azeen jumped at resolving any issues, and she also helped with finished product selection, provided her advice and guidance on design. It was a pleasure to work with her. It is a complex job involving a variety of skills--carpentry, finish carpentry and stucco. Yonis and his team at K&B did a great job. We would definitely hire them again. A couple of high points: they did the job promptly. Unlike some of the other projects around the neighborhood, they didn't start with a bang and then limp across the finish line weeks later. They worked every day from start to finish, arrived on time and all of the workers were always courteous. They worked cleanly--each day and each tradesman cleaned up when their work was finished. There were no piles of trash around the yard! They showed great respect for our home, yard and all of the materials (those doors weren't cheap!). Yonis is a good communicator who keep us appraised of who was coming and when, and if something changed, he let us know. The job was done on time, on budget and Yonis and I could shake hands at the end and be friends--the sure sign of a good experience. Highly recommended.

I contacted Yonis, the owner, and he guided me in utilizing the lifetime Grohe warranty to order replacement parts, and he sent out his plumber twice, once to diagnose (that's how we knew we needed replacement parts), and once to install the replacement parts. Even though this repair was 7 years after the remodel, Yonis was super-prompt and helpful with all communications. And even though the problem with the faucet had nothing to do with the quality of his work, he did not charge me anything for the two plumber visits!!! The custom vanity and door in my bathroom were not primed and the paint is chipping off with barely a touch. The paint job on my kitchen cabinets was deplorable. The paint bubbled and chipped almost immediately. When I questioned them about it, they blatantly told me there was no issue and blew me off. These are not the only issues I had with them, but they are something I have to look at every day. Also, they were very threatening when I didn't want to pay the balance because of these issues (in addition to a major floor issue which I have since had repaired). Beware!

Our initial contact was with Zume's sales manager Alan. He prepared a detailed quote explaining the scope of work and expected timetable. Zume provided more information and on a quicker basis than several other contractors we interviewed. For the project itself, we worked with Michael and Aaron. They both did a terrific job managing the construction. It was very important to us that the project progress quickly and efficiently, and they really came through! Michael was the overall GC. It's obvious he has lots of experience with construction in the Bay Area. He had great recommendations for outside vendors: for everything from lighting, to bathroom fixtures, to flooring and appliances. We also appreciated that he could handle the Title24 process (which allowed us to avoid dealing with another outside consultant). Aaron oversaw the day-to-day site management. We were a demanding client! He was very patient and responsive with the questions we sent on an almost daily basis. A major construction project is always stressful, and Zume's professionalism reassured us that we were in good hands. Michael and Aaron also did a great job coordinating with the city to ensure that the project was never held up because of failed inspections. Also, the buildertrend.com project management portal that Zume uses is a very convenient way to understand the status of the project and the schedule of progress payments.
