Tasty dumplings with South Asian flavors. A unique find in Lakeview East. Momos - dumplings, mandu, ravioli, whatever you call them, are a fantastic meal. Pillows filled with the flavors of your choice; vegetables, paneer, chicken, lamb. They serve it in a variety of styles; steamed, spiced tomato sauce, and other options. The menu is a little hard to navigate as they don't always explain what something is, but there are pictures for comparisons. Every order comes in a set of 10. Steamed Chicken Momo Order was freshly cooked, not sure if you can see the steam in the picture. Comes with a little side salad and a hot and medium sauce. The sauces are very different. The hot sauce reminds me of a chili garlic with a nice kick and the medium is more smoky garam masala. Both are fantastic and just depends on personal preference. The chicken is ground and mixed with onion and maybe cilantro? It's a nicely herbed and spiced: very flavorful. Would come here again and try out the other flavors. read more

Only five tables. mostly carry-out orders, nice place and friendly counter people. The Chicken Bowl consists of four chicken dumplings, and a nice portion of curry chicken and your choice of rice or Chinese stir fry noodles {I'd try the stir fry rather than the rice}. It is also topped with a side salad. For an appetizer I tried the Aalu Pakora {3 pieces} similar in size to crabcake fried to a golden brown crust served with mint sauce. To drink I had a Mango Lashi, a yogurt based mango milkshake, it's perfect with this type of food, they also have canned soda pop. If possible, try going there during the week, weekends could be busy Public transportation is the best bet. read more

Visit Date: Oct. 1, 2024 This was another restaurant I've tried with a friend through word of mouth. My friend, "OT", was recommended by her friend who said that it was pretty authentic and tasty. So this is where we went for some catch up time over lunch. However, I'd like to note that we did go into the Momo Factory quite hungry but tried our best to maintain objectivity about our experience. This was done by eating slowly and hopping back and forth the varying dishes we ordered. I guess the only problem was that we couldn't finish it all because the serving sizes were more than adequate! (But hey, having leftovers is never a bad thing!) This place was easy to spot from the street, they have large colorful signs, which all seemed welcoming enough. The place was small but not overly compact. I would say that there was just enough space for patrons to get around *IF it's not busy*. However, we did notice that the food took a little longer than anticipated for a slow lunch hour on a Tuesday afternoon. Granted, we did order 5 different dishes for 2 people. So we weren't really upset about the timing. But I'd say the saving grace was getting our food fresh and still hot! They were all made at the same time. Now onto the food! We got 2 different types of Momos (fried & steamed), the garlic naan, an order of their Paneer Chow-mein, and their samosa chaat. Lemme tell ya, we enjoyed most of them except for their chow-mein (unsurprising since this was the odd ball of the order). The flavors were bright, packed a punch, and had a good combination of soft and crunchy textures. Some packed a little heat (to be expected) but it wasn't a slap in the face. Some water and naan could easily cool it off! Oh, and their chutneys were also yummy! Lastly, we did split a mango lassi.. you could skip this one too. Overall, our time at the Momo Factory was a good one. No thrills, frills, or unwanted surprises. If I were to comeback however, I would focus on trying more types of Momos instead! Momo Factory is an unassuming hidden gem. They have something for every craving. The Momo dumplings are all fantastic and so is the rest of the menu! We've had momo, chow mein, bowls, and curries. I think my favorites are the chilly Momo and choila Momo. Both have a great spice level and tons of flavor. I also love the butter curry Momo for when I'm craving dumplings and curry and don't know how to choose. The bowls are great if you want variety, but I'm usually on the side of getting as many dumplings into my body as possibly with no interruptions. We recently tried the chicken chili garlic chow mein and honestly it was one of my favorite chow meins I've had in a while. Excellent vegetarian options as well. I have been here over two dozen times and love everything they have here. It's my go to spot in the area for takeout. I can't recommend it enough, go here and get anything it is all great. Chicken bowl, fried pork momo, mild sauce, hot sauce, chicken Bryani, and chili chicken 65 are all spectacular. I also tried some of their soup once and it was very good. Actually one of my favorite food joints in the city. The only bad thing is it's very slow (30 minutes if u order in restaurant) for a hole in the wall place, hence why I usually get takeout. I ordered delivery for lunch last week and WOW. Got the butter curry momo and garlic naan and I literally saved leftovers to try to stretch over the course of 4 days because it was so good. I sadly finished the last of it today and it was all JUST as good as it was when it was fresh. When it arrived, it was still steaming hot. Obviously with delivery, you can't always control how it's going to be when it arrives, but I was happy that it exactly like how I'd expect it to be if I were dining in. I should have never tried this place because now I'm going to be thinking about it all the time. Garlic naan was perfectly soft (even microwaved days later) and the momo was packed with flavor and not spicy at all (which is what I wanted). Really solid food. My friends and I came here to try their Momo's and we were not disappointed. The food was filling and flavorful. We ordered the butter curry chicken Momo's, garlic naan, the wild spicy chicken Momo's, chicken garlic noodles, chai, mango lassi and the lamb curry with potatoes. The total cost of the meal was around $110 with tip. The food was a bit pricey for the portion sizes. Like the naan just came with 2 pieces. The Momo dishes came with 10 Momo's and there was only a little curry to eat with the basmati rice. Restaurant had a lot of tables and there weren't too many people there on a Sunday for lunch. Food took a little bit to come out, but service was friendly and efficient. The server forgot to give us the rice with our dishes but they quickly rectified the situation and apologized for the mishap. The restaurant also has high chairs for kids. Me and a few friends came here for lunch and evidently they didn't seem super prepared for a group of 5 people to come and order all at once. Still, the food was so worth the wait I didn't want to knock any stars off , and they were so apologetic about the slightly longer wait (maybe 20-30 minutes). I ordered the pork masala momos and I was in heaven. Firstly, you can almost never go wrong with a butter curry and you can't go wrong with momos (Tibetan/Nepali dumplings). Combine the two and you get something out of this world. The portions were large enough to save and eat for a second meal later (though, I don't have the biggest appetite, just for reference). It was a rich curry and paired perfectly with the rice. I'm still thinking about that dish weeks later. read more

Momo Factory is a Lakeview eatery located on Broadway just a bit north of Belmont. We were drawn to the somewhat exotic offerings listed on its menu posted in the window. The momo is a (usually) steamed dumpling that is popular in Nepal. Momo Factory serves a variety of momo types, so my bud and I decided to check them out on a steamy Saturday evening. The interior is very minimalist with no customers in sight when we walked in, so we asked if we could dine in at one of the handful of tables (the answer is Yes). Not sure if this has anything to do with the year-plus length of dealing with the pandemic, but part of the restaurant's floor was very sticky to walk on (glad to be wearing shoes that day). The ordering process was easy once we figured out what we were choosing. The order took a few minutes to prepare, and our food was brought out to our table in to-go plastic containers as if to emphasize the takeaway option. We did get cups of water as well (my bud asked for one, I did not) so that was nice of them. A trickle of customers also ordered food to take away and to dine in, though with its present arrangement of tables they can house very few dine-in customers. I was very satisfied with my dojar bowl - pork chunks in a savory curry sauce, along with four pork momo dumplings, stir fry noodles (you can also get rice instead of noodles), veggies, and some zingy dipping sauce. My bud ate the chicken bowl with curry chicken, four chicken dumplings, and with white rice rather than noodles. His food was seemingly spicier than mine, as he was downing his cup of water with gusto (his slice of jalapeno was larger than mine - hehe). I also ordered a batuk as an appetizer, which is sort of a fried donut made with lentils. I would love to try out other food items on the Momo Factory menu sometime. read more

This restaurant is much more than meets the eye. On the outside, it's nothing flashy, but the food is outstanding. I came here with a friend last night and had an extremely delicious meal at a reasonable price. I ordered the butter chicken masala, and he ordered the lamb curry. Both were amazing and perfectly seasoned. We also got steamed chicken dumplings to share, which were delicious! Looking at the quantity of food, I was sure we would have leftovers, but it was much too good to save any for later. i've only had takeout from here, but it's been awesome every time. as a vegetarian i find it really difficult to find vegetarian dumplings, but they have them and they rock! they even had a few options for me to choose from. i want to try dine in and try them to see if my rating changes, i feel like sometimes the dough can be a little dense but i can't be certain if it's the shop or how i reheat them. definitely worth checking out! read more

It was okay, like really just okay. Got the extra extra spicy chow-mein (wasn't really spicy at all). The red sauce on the side was also kind of a miss. It was about $13.30 for a portion which in my honest opinion could have been bigger. Took about 25 minutes from ordering to get my food after being one of the 2 people in there.
