    CHAAT FRIES
    Rahima J.

I was able to come to the actual location and try this out after trying their chaat fries at taste of last year! I am so glad I did because it was a great experience. The inside is very vibey and they have jazz music playing. It can get a little loud but nothing you can't have a conversation over. The service was super fast and very helpful in checking in and making sure we had everything we needed. The owner and chef also came out to deliver our food and ask us about our email which is a very sweet touch! The food itself was great and flavorful. The portions are huge so definitely make sure to go with some people to try it out!

Great food, wonderful atmosphere. This would be a great place for a family dinner or small party. The service was excellent. We've been here a few times and always get the chicken tikka masala and the biryani. We will definitely be coming back.

We liked this place. Went after seeing a kids show and enjoyed lunch here yesterday with toddlers and the hubs. Love a restaurant in the city that actually has high chairs and a changing table in the bathroom! Extra points for that! Food wise we had to go mild with the soon to be 3 year olds needing to try everything we ordered, but we enjoyed the two kinds of samosa we got, the lamb paratha wrap with fries and the paneer, rice and mango lassi which we had to fight back the kiddos from drinking it all. There was a bit of a musty odor/aroma when we first arrived which was off putting but the food, lovely waitress and general atmosphere made up for that.

Delicious and fun upscale dining experience in Chicago. Do note that some of the tandoori dishes will take 30 minutes to prepare, so maybe avoid those if you are super hungry. The portions were very large and we had plenty of food leftover. The entire presentation of the dishes was great and it was nice to share.

Absolutely phenomenal and authentic Indian cuisine in Lincoln Park. Tandoor offers the classics and even fusion but does not miss with authentic and bold flavor. I visited here on a calm Sunday! I made a reservation however, I did see some folks walk right in a get seated. It was newly renovated and offers a modern design that is still cozy and allows you to feel right at home. Tandoor is perfect for a solo dinner, or a larger group as they have long tables for more communal style eating. Whatever you do, don't forget your stretchy pants because you will eat SO good and TOO much here lol. One stand out for me, was Tandoor gives you so much food. Their portion sizes are great for sharing, and you certainly get a bang for your buck! For food, I ordered: Tandoori Chicken Empanadas: The perfect fusion highlighting bold flavor, with shredded chicken, in a fried empanada shell served with a mildly spicy Tikka Masala sauce. Garlic Naan: A MUST chewy, buttery, melty, with that perfect garlic flavor! Boneless Lamb Biryani: Nice flavorful Biryani which is like a rice, with a nice spice and lamb so tender it literally fell apart. The amount of lamb that came mixed in the biryani could have certainly been an an entree on it's own. Lamb Karhai: Applause for the bold flavor, such rich, buttery, and again such tender lamb it literally fell apart. I chose spicy to get that additional push of flavor. The sauce was rich with peppers, onions, in an infused sauce served with rice. I also loved the new, Apple, Mudha Spritz which a mocktail with frozen apples, apple juice, and spritz. Refreshing way to enjoy my meal. The service was amazing and attentive. They all checked in on me multiple times, asking me for feedback, offering to top off my water cup, and also helped me box my many many many leftover. Please RUN to Tandoor. I am counting down the days until I return. So so yummy!

We came to lunch after some lessons at Guutar Center. Mett was our server. Very good recommendations and service. We tried the Shrimp panoramic. Very fresh and crispy. We ordered the chicken and lamb sage. The lamb was better. Entree came with a salad and basmati rice. Will be back to try other items. We failed to take photos prior to eating.

While at lollapalooza we came across Tandoor and it was delicious! Fresh hot severed to order with fresh condiments. We really appreciate the team. Indoor seating at Lincoln park. It is a must try and they good for party trays

Star of the show would have to be the fish basant, super crispy and with a little bit of heat. The vindaloo pork belly tonkatsu was so well cooked and crispy on the outside but light on the inside. Make sure to order garlic naan on the side, we wish we ordered a second portion to take home that's how good it was. Definitely check them out, it's being added to the rotation for us.

The lighting throughout the restaurant was warm and elegant, and both the interior and exterior created a very inviting atmosphere. From an ambiance standpoint, Basant definitely delivered. Service -- 5/5 The service was also excellent. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and attentive throughout our meal. They checked on us regularly to make sure we had everything we needed without being overbearing. Everyone we interacted with made us feel comfortable and well taken care of, and I have nothing negative to say about the hospitality. Food -- 2/5 Unfortunately, the food is where the experience fell short for me. I frequent Indian restaurants and one of the things I love most about Indian cuisine is the incredible depth and layering of flavors. Here, I just didn't experience that. The Gobi Manchurian was especially surprising. I'm accustomed to recognizable cauliflower florets, but these were minced and formed into almost meatball-like pieces. The sauce provided plenty of heat, but to me it was mostly spice without the complexity of flavor I was expecting. I was also surprised not to see a tikka masala option. I ordered a tomato-based soup and even tried adding rice to give it a little more substance, but it still lacked the depth of flavor I've experienced at other Indian restaurants. Ironically, the highlight of the meal for me was the garlic naan it was delicious. Beautiful restaurant, excellent service, but for an Indian restaurant, the food ultimately has to be the star, and unfortunately that was the weakest part of my experience. 3/5 overall.

I tried the karam kick dosa, masala dosa, veg biryani, bhindi masala, kadai paneer, naan and roti. The vegetables and paneer came with sides of rice, and the biryani came with a side of raita. I liked both the dosas, but would not recommend getting them delivered because they became quite soggy. This isn't the restaurant's fault, because that does tend to happen to dosa when it's no longer piping hot. I considered putting the dosas on the stove for a few minutes or reheating them in the air fryer, but didn't end up doing it - if you do get the dosa delivered, perhaps you can try doing that to recreate the crispiness/freshness. Overall, highly recommend this place for delivery! Will definitely order again.
