This place is absolutely fantastic. The food is incredibly flavorful, and the service is truly top-notch. We ordered the vegetarian biryani, which came in a clay pot and was packed with rich, delicious flavors. The bhindi masala (okra in a spiced sauce) was excellent, perfect with a side of white rice or naan. The palak paneer was also a standout dish. Overall, this spot has quickly become one of my favorites, and I'll definitely be coming back for more. It's small and you would need a reservation but the got us seated with no reservation. Tucked away in Roscoe Village, it's a gem worth visiting.

Dhanteraz in Chicago is such a great spot! The vibes are cozy and inviting, and the service is friendly and attentive. We tried the butter chicken, which was absolutely delicious--rich, creamy, and full of flavor. The pieces were a little too big but easily cut and able to eat. The naan was fire--perfectly soft and slightly charred, just how it should be! The chicken tikka pasta was also a standout, packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. I almost liked it more than the actual dish??? So crazy to say but you can imagine how good it was! Overall, a fantastic experience with great food and a welcoming atmosphere. Definitely a spot to hit up if you're craving Indian comfort food with a twist!

I stopped by this place on a snowy night hoping for some comfort food, and honestly it hit the spot. The malai kofta was amazing -- the gravy was so creamy and flavorful. The dal makhani was alright, nothing special. The naan was super soft and fluffy, and the biryani had great flavor and it was 2 too! But the real star was the mango tres leches. It was perfectly sweet with great flavor and cake was really moist. The service was pretty quick and the staff was friendly as well! The place is pretty small with limited seating.

Medium size space inside. Service was really good. Server was really helpful in making dcesion and listening to our need. Veg food review - Overall 3.5 Mango Lassi - 3.5 /5 - Good but there are scope for improvements Chilli Cauliflower- 4/5 - Good spice but little too sweet for my taste Dhanterz kofta - 5/5 - Really liked the tastes of the curry and kofta was soft Kadi Paneer - 3.5/5 - Taste was mix with sweet and spicy. Garlic chili and Onion Naan- 3/5 - Not your typical Naan miss the softness of Naan with little crunch.

The food was great, you'll definitely have leftovers! There's nothing particularly special about the decor or ambiance, and it feels a bit cramped. The service is wonderful though and everyone was kind. Definitely get the Biryani, though it's definitely spicy so adjust accordingly.

Best staff -- always welcoming and friendly. The food is incredible, and their saffron coffee is a must-try. One of the best Indian restaurants in Chicago with great service and ambiance.

Thrilled to have Dhanteraz in the neighborhood! We have been longtime fans of Basant Modern Indian a little north, and remain impressed by their food, drinks, and ambience. However, Dhanteraz may have replaced it in terms of quick, quality, reliable takeout, with better hours and far fairer prices. The sauces are excellent - you can tell how fresh their ingredients are and how expertly they balance flavors. I am a huge fan of the saag, both chicken and paneer - just delicious and wonderful over a bed of fluffy rice. We've done takeout three times already - it's a new go to. Looking forward to trying more and more in the future, as well as dining in!

We started lunch at 12:30 pm and finished around 3 pm. The curries were flavorful and delicious, but the biryani was a bit disappointing. There was no flavor or spice to the rice. I would skip on that. The goat curry, butter chicken, bread bowl, chicken tikka masala and okra curry were all solid. For 6 dishes, it was about $140 with tax and tip. Restaurant has plenty of seating options, from booths to tables and they also have high chairs for kids. We went on a Sunday for lunch and there was only one other party there. One piece of feedback for the restaurant would be use different takeout containers. The ones provided did not prevent the curry from spilling out when there's movement. They were fine for rice dishes, but not for anything with liquid. I recommend coming here for lunch or dinner if you're craving Indian!
