Honestly, I wasn't expecting such amazing food and service from this place. I went in with zero expectations, and wow... it completely surprised me. It's a tiny place, really small, almost with a ghost kitchen type of vibe, but with seating inside and outside. The space itself is not huge, but the food absolutely makes up for it. And I have to say this: you NEED to try the samosas. They were incredibly delicious, and huge! Also, the service was impeccable From the moment you walk in, you're welcomed with big smiles and such warm hospitality offering you something to drink etc. I wish this business a long and successful journey because they truly deserve it. read more

Very nice food. I think southwesterm style. In other words, for Chicago, standard. Problem is it's damn expensive Also, it's very small inside, 2 tables, with some outdoor seating. However, it's on Western Ave so, it is noisy outside with traffic. I guess it's mostly takeout based on those things. All in all, very tasty food. I only wish for a comfy little dining area to help justify the price. read more

We tried this place for the first time tonight and it was seriously delicious -- definitely going on our go-to list. We ordered the butter chicken, paneer tikka masala, chicken saag, and of course the naan basket. We also added a side of achar (a spicy pickled veggie mix) and it was SO good. Portions were huge, so we've got leftovers that'll make a great lunch tomorrow. Can't wait to order from here again! read more

Came here for restaurant week and was pleasantly surprised. We got the restaurant week menu. I got the shrimp pakora as an appetizer, the lamb karahi as an entree with the Chana masala (chickpea with onions and masala) as a side, and the mango cheesecake for desert. My bf had the vegetarian samosa, chicken tikka masala for an entree with the mutter paneer (cheese and peas in masala) as a side and a gulab jamun (fried donut hole in syrup) as a dessert. We also had the chicken empanadas as an appetizer. Everything was amazing. The lamb karahi reminded me of the Mexican dish "birria" and it was so delicious. The serving was really big too. The chicken tikka masala was so flavorful. You can never go wrong with the samosa it was so good. The shrimp pakora was just good. I wish I had ordered the mutter paneer as a side because it was so delicious. The chickpeas were great but cloying after a while. The mango cheesecake was the star of the show! I loved it!!! The gulab jamun was very sweet and doughy. We got there at the right time because the small restaurant was so packed. The service is a little slow but it was very busy last night so it might not always be that way. I'm happy I tried this restaurant as I always drive by it and their sign always called my attention. As it stands so far the food is delicious and worth the wait and price, however I don't really understand the reasoning behind their hours? Their posted hours on Yelp, Google and on the store signage itself claim they typically open late afternoon at 4pm and stay open until 11pm to even past midnight (despite the owners reply), with posted hours claiming being completely closed on Tuesday (standard to take a day off but just driving it home) If you're looking to dine in with time to kill around those hours it's a good stop, however if you work in the area, it can be frustrating to plan your average 30 minute lunch break around getting takeout as it already takes a while to prepare fresh food on top of the hours that alienate anyone on a normal work schedule Normally this would be whatever if you can stretch it but sometimes it seems on some days they're unable to even be punctually operational as advertised at 4pm with estimated wait time to even being able to simply order being over 30 minutes. The other day I went they opened on time, the following day I went I was informed only delivery service/couriers could get food with no posted information of this policy that also contradicts past experience. TLDR: If you have the time? Great stop, if not you're sadly better off going someplace else, despite their takeout option; unless you plan ahead I wouldn't count on consistent punctuality. read more

We grabbed takeout from here yesterday for West Town Restaurant Week. First off, it was so much food and variety. Secondly, it was all delicious - some highlights were the lamb biryani, garlic naan, and mango cheesecake! Third, it was packaged with care and everything was fresh when we got home. I ordered via Uber so I'm unsure which store my food came from, but I am extremely disappointed. The Chicken Tikka Masala was mild. However that was the wrong decision because apparently if it's not spicy then there is no flavor, and the chicken was dry. The Lamb Karhai was also ordered mild. It was definitely not mild. My sinuses are still running away. However the lamb was perfectly cooked and the flavor was great. The best part was the Garlic Naan if you don't count that more than half was burnt. Tandoori Chicken empanadas crust was perfect. The chicken was extremely dry. The tikka masala sauce was needed, but don't get mild. I found it interesting that my meal didn't come with rice or naan when I spent over $20 for meat and sauce. It makes me miss Phoenix even more. Desserts: Pistachio Kulfi was interesting because it didn't even taste like pistachio and the almond ice cream had a fake taste to it. Mango Cheesecake was even more disappointing. The ginger cookie crust was mushy and not crispy like you are hoping for. The mango was barely noticeable when in comparison to the cheesecake itself. Now Hawaii does an amazing mango cheesecake! I'm hoping that this restaurant had a bad day. So I'm not going to say don't go there. I'll say eat at your own risk. It's your money and if you are going to spend it make sure you go somewhere worth your while and your hard earned cash. read more

Ordered from Grubhub. Absolutely excellent. The main was a chicken biryani, which I thought might be overpriced at around $20. As a biryani fan, I was completely wrong - most are tasty, but a touch dry, often dominated by the rice, plus they tend to skimp on the protein (and sometimes the seasoning!). This dish features a light butter chickenish sauce smothered with rice and a perfect amount of chicken. After a bit of mixing, it ended up as my favorite biryani in the city. And the portion size is huge! Also got some paneer pakora and garlic naan. The pakora was wonderful - fried well with a proper well seasoned breading. And they understand the key to pakora - it's delicious as long as you salt it aggressively! The naan was excellent as well, just the right amount of char. Lastly, the sauces included were plentiful and flavorful. Really enjoyed it. Highly recommend. And to the owner - no need for an in depth response, just keep making good food like you are! read more

The food here is amazing! Indian fusion style dishes along with some traditional choices. In addition to the food being delicious they are very consistent and the quality has never gone down. The owner was very kind and the service from the staff is always great. Great decor and a relaxing ambiance perfect for a dinner with family, friends, or a significant other. First of all, I am really happy that a new restaurant moved into where Takorea Cocina used to be. It's been sad to see several West Town/Ukrainian Village establishments close the last couple of years, and the last thing I want is this area of town to lose out because of crappy economic conditions-inflation and the Pandemic. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala (at Spicy, since I love a good kick) with the garlic naan, plus the gulab jamun for dessert. I got a call from the restaurant that the latter was unfortunately sold out, so ended up with a slice of chocolate cake, which was excellent, so no disappointment there. The sauce for the Chicken Tikka was very good-just the right balance of flavor and spice for me, and perfect for dipping the garlic naan in. The naan was flavorful by itself and had a good level of crispness without being dried out. The only real shortcoming was the chicken. Was a bit too chewy for my liking. But overall a really positive experience and I'll definitely be coming back here. read more

I dig the smartness of a pickup and delivery joint! I'd like to see more models like this in the neighborhood.I'm not well versed about Indian cuisine but I categorize the palak paneer as a go to comfort dish I'll eat again and again. The sauce is rich and complex with generous pieces of paneer. Don't skimp: be sure to order some naan and house made chutneys- There's always plenty for lunch the next day if I don't eat it for breakfast My only advice would be, please replace the small foam containers with "Chinese take-out" boxes. I just received the worst takeout ever from Tandoori. I ordered a lamb kabob wrap and it was completely burned -- inedible. It wasn't charred, it was charcoal. Even the naan was blackened. I had been so looking forward to havining an Indian restaurant in the neighborhood and was thinking about what to order next. What an unbelievable disappointment. OMG so much delicious! You honestly can't go wrong with anything, we ordered, Chicken Tikka Masala, Palak Paneer, Saag Lamb, Butter Chicken, Veggie Samosas, Tandoori Chicken, Tamarind Wings, Chaat fries and the Naan sampler. I'm still having trouble picking which was my favourite. If you order the fries do yourself a solid and ask for a side of tikka masala sauce to put over them. Better yet, order the lamb tikka masala and bour that over them instead of rice. There were 5 of us and there was plenty for full dinner the next night. Price point I feel is spot on for the extreme high quality you get. They definately make the dishes FRESH per order rather than pulling from a large vat of sauces and adding which ever protein you ordered like some places I've been to. The spinach dishes still tasted like fresh spinach, not simmered down frozen blech. I was first introduced to Tandoor Char House at one of the many festivals that took place over the summer, they were at a lot of them so I'm very excited for the new location to be just a few blocks from where we live. read more

We had a phenomenal take out meal from Tandoor Char House, and will definitely return. Frontier Chicken (thighs, peppers, onion, spicy) was one of the best Indian entrees I've ever had. We got sides of Kachumber salad (yum fresh and perfectly seasoned), naan, Raita and Achar. Achar side is particularly unique, and Raita was perfect as well. Great food! read more
