We came here and tried 3 dif momo dishes. Our favourite was the tandoori momos - they're dry momos, steamed and then oven, which makes the tops crisp up. The tomato based sauce it came with was so good. We also tried the chili momos and the buff jhol momos. The chili momos are fried and then sauteed in a thick chili garlic sauce. It's packed with flavour. The buff jhol is steamed momos kind of sitting in a more liquidy soup, sesame peanut based from what I understand. This is a great option if you want something lighter in flavour. It's a traditional dish we were told. We asked so many questions because it was our first time there and the guys there were very patient with answering our questions and making recommendations. Three momo dishes was a good amount of food for 2 adults. Our toddler found all of them too spicy for him even though no spice was added. They cook right at the front of the restaurant so you can see the magic happen. We came for late lunch on a weekend and we were the only ones there. The decorations were cozy. Momo Zone is a Himalayan restaurant specializing in Nepalese-style momos, Indian and Hakka style momos. Since opening over a year ago they've been a nice addition to the East York neighborhood on O'Connor Drive. They've been on my list of places to try! We were happily welcomed by the lovely owners. I was told their Tikka Masala Momo & Chili Momo are their most popular flavours, but this time we opted for plain and simple steamed chicken momos accompanied by chow mein. Veg Chowmein packs a punch. Noodles were made to perfection. The ratio of noodles to veggies leaned towards mostly noodles but we love noodles so it suited us well. The seasoning creeps up on you in a good way, love those green chilies warming the tongue. Slightly salty, slightly sweet, slightly spicy, slightly sour, so the chow mein was very flavourful. Steamed Momos came with 8 pcs each of ground chicken wrapped with dough and steamed. Other diners ordered Fried Momos, Malai Momos, Chilly Chicken with a side of plain rice. I came here after hearing good reviews from many media sources! As I tried different Momo places, I got the impression that momos significantly reflect regional differences. I felt that Momo Zone is the one that is influenced by India- has a stronger flavor with a variety of spices/sauce options. I ordered - Steamed Chicken Momo - Tandoori Chicken Momo The chicken filling was mixed with a lot of vegetables. Although I prefer the filling to be meatier & juicier, I liked the nice & strong spice kick! The wrappers were nicely pleated and integrated with the tandoori sauce with a nice char flavor - the wrappers were a bit slipperly/softer side, rather than chewy. Nice job and if you are a dumpling lover looking for a new experience, this place is a must-check. read more

This restaurant has such delicious momos from the nicest couple! We came here on the weekend for our first time and was having a hard time choosing which momos to get, but the Chef was so kind in helping us decide by giving us recommendations and describing the differences for us. We ended up getting the malai momos and the manchurian momos, both of which were delicious and a good contrast for two spicy and non-spicy eaters. We can't wait to come back and try their other momo flavours and grab some frozen ones to make at home. read more

My husband and I thorough enjoyed this place. All the staff were super sweet. You could tell the chef really enjoys what he does. You're able to watch from your seats as the Momos get engulfed in large flames. They are perfectly crispy on the outside and nice and soft on the inside. The flavors in the gravy are delicious. We tried the chilli momo and the tikka masala momo. Definitely looking forward to coming back and trying other flavors! Also very happy that this place is halal and gets their meat from a HMA certified butcher. read more

Wanna try dumplings with a taste of Indian subcontinent? I've tried momos on quite a few outlets but very few offer such varieties with equally amazing tastes as offered by Momozone. We are personally fans of the chilli chicken fried momos and the jhol chicken momos. The Chowmein is the perfect blend of spicy with vegetables and reminds of that authentic Indian style Chowmein. While we haven't tried the dishes under the Nepali section of the menu, but if you're a fan of WaiWai noodles then this is the place for you. As far as the interiors are concerned, don't expect anything fancy but yet the interiors are cozy and well lit for you to have a good meal with friends. You won't be disappointed! read more

If you are craving dumplings, then Momozone is as good as it gets. I consider myself something of a dumpling connoisseur: from Ukrainian Pyrohy and Russian Pelmeni, then to Georgian Khinkali, and over to Chinese potstickers, then to Japanese gyoza and even to Italian ravioli, if it is a dumpling, I've probably eaten it or even made it. However, I have never managed to try a Momo, largely because most of the Himalayan/Nepalese restaurants were not conveniently located from my Pickering, Ontario stomping grounds. Then, finally, opportunity knocked. I was on O'Connor Drive, in the heart of the former East York on other business, when I spied Momozone. I knew that my chance had come! A small but very tidy restaurant, with some room for in-house dining, Momozone was immediately welcoming, with a friendly chef, cooking in an open kitchen, and a welcoming hostess/waitstaff. This is a small, family-style restaurant, and the Chef and hostess are happy to talk to you as they work, and help you choose if you are unfamiliar with the menu. With no fewer than 13 momo choices on the menu, the flavours and choices can just be dazzling the first time that you go. Momozone specializes in fusion flavours, with both traditional Nepali selections like steamed momo and jhol momo, to imaginative takes, such as alfredo momo, butter chicken momo, and chili momo. I was ordering for take-out, and I needed to make a selection that would satisfy my craving for a spicier dumpling, while also accommodating my daughter's extreme aversion to anything spicy. I went with three types of momos: butter chicken; jhol momo; and basic steamed momo. Perfect balance: the steamed momo was mild, but hearty and juicy, jhol momo moist and flavourful, and the butter chicken momo had a nice, tandoori char on the edges, which added savoury caramelized notes to the flavour. Wow, were these good! I plan to come back soon, to try some of their Nepali specials, like choila, and hakka chilli chicken. I would also like to try an alfredo momo, or a manchurian momo. If you want to eat some tender, juicy dumplings, with flavourful fillings encased in a thin and tender pastry, then look no further than Momozone. Conveniently located on O'Connor Drive, there is street parking right in front of the restaurant, as well as plenty on the side streets. Treat yourself to a dumpling at Momozone: with a balanced selection of traditional, fusion, spicy and mild momo choices, no dumpling lover will regret their feast! So they're really delicious, their momos. The presentation is excellent. They're a bit crispy and soft, simultaneously covered in butter chicken or Manchurian sauce, depending on your order. But beware, it's got a kick. If you have a sensitive tummy like me, you might want to order something mild or ask them to decrease the spice. No regrets, though. So. Damn. Good. read more
