This is the real small town cafe experience. You get the feeling that the people working there care about you personally. Like other local cafes, people who know each other feel free to drop by their table to strike up a conversation. We were a little early for lunch, but no problem, feel free to order off either menu. I had a veggie omelette. I don't remember what mom had but she liked it so much, she didn't save half for the next meal. We had bread pudding to go which felt like it weighed a couple of pounds. Nice staff. Pancakes are big and beautiful. The corn beef hash is from a can but my friend and our waitress agreed that's how it oughta be. The chicken fried steak needs a new chicken but it came with sausage gravy and hash browns and we all agreed that's how it oughta be. read more

Stopped for a quick lunch on our way to the North Shore. Charming small town cafe, friendly enough service. Food was mixed -- burgers were really good. Open faced turkey sandwich with gravy was extremely salty. So order the burgers! read more

I have a dairy sensitivity and the waitress was really accommodating. the service was excellent and the food was delicious. We were heading home from the casino and it was worth hopping off the freeway and taking a little jaunt into town! i would go back for breakfast anytime. the atmosphere is cute, very small town cafe feel with warm hospitality. read more

Wow! Picked this town because it was halfway between Duluth and Minneapolis. So happy we did. Mom's Parkside is absolutely a gem. We are a family of 5 and each got something different. I went with our waitress' suggestion of the steak skillet. Absolutely delicious and the steak was cooked perfectly The staff was helpful and kind and the quality of the food was superb. Service was extremely slow, my food was brought out almost 20 minutes before the other two people I was with finally got their orders, burgers were well done when we asked for medium and completely void of seasoning, the tomatoes were rocks and the vegetable soup was incredibly salty. We were passing through town and remembered Moms from last year. I had the new standard For turkey sandwiches! Not lunch meat, REAL turkey breast cut from the roast! Bakery bread was wonderful. The best homemade food around! You get enough food on your plate to fill up, that's for sure. The atmosphere is hometown friendly and the servers are the kind that remember your order and chat with you. The prices are low-fair for all the food you get. Nice thick Texas toast, homemade hash browns, an omelet made to perfection.
