Walked into Mon Cheri on a Friday at 820 pm. The mall obviously closes at 9 and their site states so as well. One manicurist doing nails with a client - no one else in visible site at the salon. The lady tells me sorry, we aren't taking anymore tonight. I inconvenienced myself from NJ due to their late hours. Will never give them my business again- poor customer service . I wouldn't even recommend this spot to my enemy. as soon as I walked a woman asked me "What do I want?" i am assuming she's the owner. I told her a manicure and pedicure. She told me to pick a color and to go to one of the woman. She kept rushing me to chose a color. I need at least 5 min to choose a color. But she kept saying hurry. I should have left right then and there. My manicure and pedicure was okay. However my nail polish started peeling the next day. I been to places that does mani and pedi for 25$ on any given day (for example V2 nail salon in Brooklyn) they charge 12$ for mani and 27$ for pedi(*GASP*). That's a total of 39$ plus tax if you use ur card. Plus you got to tip those hard working woman. Anyways, another woman walked and she wanted to get tips done. They are exceptionally rude, stubborn, and all knowing. A decently priced place if you need to give your fingers some quick TLC. Do not be afraid to open your mouth. The more you voice your opinion the better the service and overall experience. They'll try to stop working on you and take someone else if they're requesting a "more expensive service" but that can be rectified by a sharp and stern comment. If you're one to request a color by a name, good luck. They'll point you to their swatching tree tower. As for quality: I chose a safe Nude Color My Technician Talked the whole time, she Gestures with her hand while talking - Therefore taking pauses from her work on me. I was Nervous for the lack of attention while she is cutting my cuticles- she was talking so much that she accident nicked me. If you ladies do Gel nail, you know that it burns like a Mutha F-er when the the UV bakes your wound -- I hate that. Honestly, a secret gem. Love this place. The women who do pedicures are so thorough. Not only do they take care of the toe nails well and scrub the feet completely clean (until soft), they give a great massage. I was reluctant to give a review because I don't want anyone to know how great this place is. My gel manicure always last more weeks. I average about 3-4 weeks with no chipping. I'm a teacher and I'm very rough with my nails. All the of nail techs are recommendable and honest about time. Prices are fair for the area and the service. The salon is very clean. You can pay extra for exposable pedicure liners if that's a must for you. read more

This is the quintessential catty nail salon. I have been here a couple of times for a mani/pedi. I wanted at least a few experiences before I gave this place a bad review. Well, my negative opinion has never been challenged. The pedicurists whether Korean/Mexican/Chinese sit and talk smack about you to their neighbor while giving your feet the rubdown. It's something straight out of a Seinfeld episode. They survey your feet, or your nail polish choice, or your wardrobe, or anything they can criticize really. Then they start making fun of you in your own language and giggling while trying, unsuccessfully, not to make eye contact with the object of their amusement. I've been there a few times and everytime my french manicure has come out looking chunky on the white part and it doesn't keep for very long. The service is meh where most of them sit around and gossip in their native language to the point of where you feel uncomfy not knowing what in the world they're saying. I had paid my dues at work and wanted to get a little pampered as was deserved. But I was tired and didn't want to go all the way to my usual spot in Brooklyn, so I stayed on the Island. This was the closest place to home, looked decent on the outside, lo and behold.. this was the aftermath. I was greeted by the owner(?) rushed to choose a color and was in an out in about an hour. I work nights and was kind of tired during the session, so when she nicked my cuticle using the machine I didn't even realize. I got home and realized there was a small cut on the side of my finger but didn't think much of it because I get random cuts here and there. Next thing you know, swelling, pain and redness as seen in the photos. I had to go to urgent care, where they proceeded to numb my hand, scalpel'd under the nail bed drained it out, packed it and wrapped it up. Im just going to unsubscribe from going to salons for a while. Just gonna be good and do my own nails lol. Nearly $50 and a visit to urgent care. Not worth. read more

Absolutely amazing nail salon! It is the cleanest salon I've been to during covid, they even have plexiglass which a lot of these Staten Island salons don't have. The owner, Julie, does an incredible job. My nails have never looked better!!! All the poor 1 star reviews sound very silly. People complaining about coming into the salon 20 minutes before closing time, or taking a long time picking a color. It's not a candy store, it's a busy salon. This place used to be good, now, not so much. The woman who was doing my nails asked me if I wanted them cut. I said yes, so while she was using the machine to take the gel color off my nails, uses that to file down my nails! I should have trusted my instincts, which were telling me this was a bad idea. She finishes filing my nails and I notice 4 nails are broken and one of them was splitting. They were so jagged, they looked intentionally broken. And *I* had to point them out! She blamed it on weak nails (my nails were fine before). Then I noticed that the gel got stuck under one of mails and on my skin, so I show her and she doesn't understand what's wrong. She sticks her nail under mine to separate the nail from my skin (stuck together by the gel) it but poked so hard that I'm still in pain a few hours later. In fact, half of my nail beds hurt (and so did the whole process, mind you). This should have been a relaxing event but it wasn't. Plus, the gel is very thick. This is honestly the worst manicure I've ever gotten. I have no idea how this woman got her license. Avoid this place. They had the audacity to ask for $36. read more

I went to this nail salon on Saturday December 5 2020 because my salon was closed and I needed my nails done for work I get to the salon OK everything is fine pick out the color I want and everything I sat down I told her I want to the LNC (Light concept nails) and I wanted my nails short little bit they don't do what I ask she didn't do the light concept all she did was put glue on my nails spray it with some spray put some polish over it and put it into the dryer and I was out in 45 minutes I get home that same night my manicure was peeling two days later my nail cracked in half I had to glue it back on the cuticle were showing and each nails fallen off I had a glue them back on they are disgusting do not recommend them at all the only reason I went because my nail salon was closed they are the sloppiest disgusting place ever I do not recommend them I went years ago I stopped going I refuse to ever go back to them again if my nail salon has to close again because of the coronavirus I will not go back to them ever again I do not recommend them they are Disgusting read more

This place is UNACCEPTABLE. My wife went here and the disrespect is unforgivable. First off, these two broads were just sitting doing each other's nails and made her wait 15 minutes. A paying customer and they didn't even care. She finally gets get pedicure and then had to wait for her manicure. People walking in after her were then helped first just because their appointments were more expensive. This continues and she says something. Went here for a pedicure the other day. Never again. I have never felt so poorly treated. The woman who did my pedicure didn't even look at me. No hello. Didn't smile or make an attempt to make me feel my that my service was appreciated. I asked her to focus more on my feet than calves for the massage and she literally rolled her eyes and sighed. $25 for a pedicure and the message is the only thing different from the $10 pedicures anywhere else. I recently visited with my daughter to get a pedicure. She wanted a manicure. I had to stand and wait but my daughter was seated quickly. She received a full set with tips to the tune of $60. I thought that was a bit pricey but that's when things went down hill. She was charged to shape her nails and file down into a natural nail shape, $14 more. We were separated as I went to get my pedicure which was surprisingly good. The one pedicure lady did a good job on my feet and it made me decide to take a chance and get a manicure. From there I was met with an eye roll from the owner and she passed me along to a woman who obviously didn't seem to want to do it. I asked if it was a problem and then they spoke up and said "oh no" and she hurried me into a seat and started speaking feverishly and looking at me. She then used the machine to file down my natural nail, applied glue to the dusty fingertips, used nail tips the size of thumbs on all fingers and haphazardly attempted to spread the glue by squeezing my finger tips. She left all the nail dust all on my hands and I thought this is not going to end well. She then used gel polish to seal the tips down from the top and proceeded to polish over them with a clear coat. At this point I spoke up to ask her what she was doing and she got super rude and told me to put my hands under the machine to dry. I'm looking at my nails and wondering if I'm in a twilight zone as she flips her hands telling me that's gel nails. Now I've gotten gel manicures on tips before and there seemed to be a whole step missing...they charged me a total of $94 plus my daughter paid $74. I waited at the table assuming she was going to finish and she looks at me like "you're done" ......never ever going back there again, and NO I would NOT recommend. If it wasn't for the pedicure done by the lovely Spanish lady, did not get her name, I would give zero stars. Covid is not a reason to be rude, inconsiderate, inconsistent and deceptive. They suggested matching OPI colors for gel mani and pedi, so I said why not. COLORS DO NOT COME CLOSE TO MATCHING. When I said something, they said it was close. I had been a loyal customer for over 25 years...weekly at that. Monthly I would spend easily 200 dollars between myself, my husband and my granddaughter. I had a problem fungus under one nail and called to have wraps removed and my usual service. I was told by the owner also my nail tech that she had to worry about her walk-in customers and couldn't help me. I went somewhere else just to have my wraps and fungus removed.waited a week and called again and was told they were too busy. Believe me I had no desire to change salons but this customer service was unacceptable. I was treated with disregard and actually the owner can get very nasty. I would rather chew my nails off before I'd walk back in that store!! Be careful of your choice and if you choose them don't be surprised if they get nasty and treat you improperly!!! I went to this nail salon in the mall last night and got a gel manicure, they did a terribly sloppy job. I did not like the technique they used at all. My manicure came out thick and chunky and it looks like blobs on my fingernails. I was extremely furious because they charged me double what I normally pay to get a regular gel manicure that came out less than acceptable. I completely agree with everyone's review! I was a loyal customer to this jip joint for many years- mainly for convenience and the one nice nail tech who I was going to for years. Once she left, I noticed how even the manager was a snotty biatch to me for no reason. I would catch myself being overly nice because I couldn't understand why after all this time she didn't like me? Then I realized who cares she's a manager of an overpriced nail salon on SI I don't care what she thinks of me. Despite her rudeness, the last straw for me was when I broke a nail and needed just one fixed. I asked the girl if she could simply put the shine top coat on the rest so they would all look the same. No, five dollar. Are you f&$@&& kidding me? They do a very nice job with gel manicures and pedicures. They could use better pedicure chairs. Most salons have massage chairs, but here they do not. The prices are a bit higher than other local salons due to being in the mall. Most salons seen to be the same in regards to employees talking to each other across the room in their native language, which is a bit rude to their customers, but they do very good work in my experiences there. read more

Hate to say it, but I am glad to read the bad reviews! i usually go to Time Nail Salon on Richmond Hill Road for a gel manicure/pedi...but was in the mall and in desperate need of a gel manicure (one of my nails had broken)...So I decided to stop in to ask what the price was for a gel mani...the people that work there are horrid! I stood in the front, feeling like a fool, and one woman actually refused to look at me and walked away. Then I asked one of the women that was doing a manicure and she wouldn't even look up and muttered "$30.00". I turned around and walked out, I would NEVER give my business to a place like this. Not to mention, there is no where to wait, so you would just have to stand there while they give you dirty looks. WHAT A NIGHTMARE! Not only was I denied a the most essential part of my request for a mani pedi, the pedi, apparently because they were "closing soon" (yet still had an hour and a half of time)... the manicure was embarrassing and should be labeled a crime against humanity. I sat down and could not believe the level of filth in front of me. However what happened next was truly incredible. Just when I thought things couldn't possibly get any worse, my nail scraps were flung to the ground in attempt of tidying up. It might as well have been a cataclysm.
