Was able to walk in to get a manicure around 5/6pm on a Sunday. Chose a color and was seated promptly. The technicians' station was quite organized and the table was clean even the ones to my left and right. I saw the technician to my right clean her station after a client left which was a plus for me in cleanliness. All the workers were masked up and there were plexiglass in between the technician and the client. The nail technician was good in that she took her time. The cuticles were cut off well since that was the important part to me. She also used a new package of nail filer and buffer. However, she didn't ask if I needed my nails to be cut since I do prefer shorter nails. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and now thinking back, I should've asked to try the polish first because it's too dark of a nude color and I wanted something a bit more sheer. Also, I don't think the quality of the nail polish is too good because it's coming off already and it's been a few days only. Not sure if it has anything to do with the brand I selected and if it's because it's regular polish? Not sure. The manicure was a little over $17. I'm not sure if I'd come back. Maybe I'd give it another try and/or try a different service since it's pretty close to my house. read more

Very expensive!!! I wanted to get clear nails with butterflies in them. I brought my own butterflies because I know not every salon carries them (no big deal). I also brought my own clear tips just in case because again, it's not something every salon carry (but it's also not an uncommon item). After using MY OWN butterflies, clear nail tips, and purple foil.. I was still charged $106 dollars!! I asked for a discount being that I brought in my own materials but the receptionist claimed it's $60 for the design and $40 for labor. She claimed she already gave me a discount and when I asked her what was the original price without the discount, she wouldn't tell me. I had my friend call the salon to pretend she was interested in getting the same nails and when she asked for the price, they told her it would be $107. So I'm assuming my discount was one dollar??? Very rarely do I write a review but I just had to after such great service. I have been going to tomatoe nails on forest Ave for years and unfortunately it's not the same. After Michael left I tried others but my nails kept lifting and chipping. I decided to look for another place. Since glamour nails opened I had been following them on Facebook for quite some time and decided to try them back in January of this year 2016. The front desk are super sweet and nice. Since it was my first time going to them in January I was given Debbie B. OMG!!! I absolutely love her. She takes her time, I'm never felt that I'm being rushed. My nails last me anywhere from 3-4 weeks sometimes longer. I always get what I've asked for. Debbie happened to have been away for the summer (2016) for a family matter so I was given another nail technician during her absence. I had been using Kathy during Debbie's absence. Kathy is also an amazing nail technician. It's like having 2 Debbie's. I always walk out of the salon fully satisfied. The staff are all amazing. They are super friendly, attentive and fun to be around. The staff makes you feel really at home. As for prices, the prices are really reasonable. I had been using another salon for a little over 10 years which had changed ownership 4 times and I finally got fed up because my nails wouldn't last past a week and on top of that they kept charging a different price each time for the exact service. This coming January 2017 will be a year that I've been going to Glamour Nails and I have no plans to ever go elsewhere. Their pedicures are very relaxing and inexpensive. This review is long overdue, but I went here for a fill in and a design. The nail tech used a new tool which completely cut up my fingers. 2 of my fingers were bleeding and my cuticles were raw. I told the girl at the counter and she had the nerve to say to me "those cuts look old, not going to lie". She called her manager and she said the most she can do for me is a 10% discount. Love the ladies that work here, everyone is so nice and great at what they do. There helpful and work with each other too which is really nice. The owners are always pleasant, always have convo with every customer and they always help you out with choosing a color, matching toe and nail color and letting you know if its what your looking for. Gel manicure polish experience! 1st they get all the dirt out and cut your nails....and they do it WELL! 2nd then they sand down your nails....they will be thin 3 then if your nails aren't long enough which sometimes mine aren't they probably cut the...or even it out for you to make them look good! 4. then they put on the gel polish and put your hands inside for a few times to make the gel harden 5. If you want design they do it after the basic coat 6 then they add an overcoat and dry it! this salons will have samples on color gels...which is awesome...wished they had design samples but you can always tell them what you want and they will try to please your every need... and trust me some nail salons don't care... One of my dislikes would be...they are limited to some skills when it comes to being creative...but still better then most nail salons on Staten Island... it would probably be best to check beforehand and call to set up an appointment... Not so happy with the service there. I hate sitting down for over an hour listening to everyone speak in Korean. It's so rude. Not once did she speak to me . Finally found my new nail salon! Having a business in the city you would think with all the options that are available there are good places to get your nails done, but that is far from it! I've tried so many places on the island as well and it's always hit or miss. I'm very very meticulous when it comes to how I want my nails done and unfortunately no salon has been able to master it. Okay, so let me start off by saying they do wonderful nails, if you pick the right nail technician (Mindy, Leo (I think he's on Victory now) etc.) I've been there a few times and each time I did the light Concept nails. I loved the strength it gave my nails and how beautiful they always looked. But here is my problem, first of all, every time I picked a design that had the color white in it, it would start off looking white, but after a few days, it would turn to a beige color and it just made my nails look unclean. This isn't a big problem, because this happened to me about two months ago. It wasn't something that I felt needed to be addressed. My real issue has to do with my most recent visit. The work I do requires a lot of hands on stuff, and I couldn't deal with long nails and the biweekly maintenance. Therefore, I decided to have them removed. I went in expecting a pleasant experience, I was wrong. My nail technician files my nails, cuts them, and then instead of soaking them like I assumed they would, they used a metro card to separate my nail from the gel, and then proceeded to flick them off! I then thought they would at least put something to help my nails heal up, boy was I wrong! I was told to wash my hands and then leave! No hand massage or cream, no heat wraps or anything! I went from having healthy nails, to beautiful nails, to nasty paper like nails! I thought I would get over it after the next day, but I can't! The pain I have right now on my fingers, especially my thumbs are unbearable, and working now is even more of a pain! I'm not sure if this is how they take the nails off for everyone or if they were in an attitude because I just wanted them off and they assumed I wasn't coming back, well I definitely am not anymore. I've been to Glamour Nails twice for gel manicures and regular pedicures and have had good experiences from both. The employees are professional and friendly, and I have never had to wait to start on a manicure (though, I've had appointments both times -- they do have walk-ins, but I'd suggest making an appointment). The first time, however, I had to wait around 10-15 minutes for the pedicure to start which was a bit annoying, but not terrible. The quality was great both times. The first I just got one color and they stayed chip-free. The only reason I got a new manicure after two weeks was the visible nail growth (which is of course typical). The second time (I did not go consecutively, rather around 6-8 weeks apart) I got "shattered nails" and was really happy with them. My manicurist seemed like a perfectionist with the care he took in my nails. I was happy with the pedicures, too. The second time the pedicurist noticed one of my nails was broken and used some nail glue to fix it, so I liked how she cared, too. In terms of price, Glamour Nails may be a bit more expensive than other places on SI but it's nowhere near Manhattan expensive. For example, my "shattered nails" gel manicure was $45 before tip. In the city, I've had a regular, one-color gel run me $50 before tip -- and the quality wasn't better or anything. I think Glamour Nails is a great option if you want a high quality mani/pedi on the island. read more

Out of all the nail places I've been to on Staten Island, this one is hands down the best. I get a powder manicure from Debbie, and she never fails to make it looks AMAZING. They have so many colors available and my nails pretty much always last for ~3 weeks. I have also gotten pedicures there too, they always come out looking great but I will admit the chairs can get a bit uncomfortable. I don't think I'd go to another nail salon again for my nails though, I love how Debbie does them! Also the receptionist at the front desk is so nice! UPDATE: I no longer go to Glamour Nails, the owners are money hungry and inconsiderate of their clients. When I first started going it was great, but suddenly I could never get an appointment with my nails tech (who I had been going to for years) then she left and no one notified me that I no longer had an appointment with her until I called myself to ask. They scheduled me with someone else for the time slot and then called me to tell me I didn't actually have an appointment. Haven't been back since. The owner was rude and uncaring and didn't try to make the situation better. Great nail place I won't go anywhere else! I love the UV gel tips they last wayyyy longer then my acrylic ones ever did! They're more pricey here but so worth it. The place is super clean and everyone is friendly. I highly recommend trying them out! read more
