Right away Mona greeted me with a smile and treated me like family. I just read the review at the top with 1 star. Unfortunately, I was at the salon that day and it seems like that lady came to the salon in a very bad mood. Bad day maybe? That review was more on a personal level. Do not consider that review. Sylvia's client came in a very bad mood talking very loud and complaining just about everything. I've been going to Sylvia for 15 + years and NOT once have I seen her be rude to ANYONE!!! I'm not sure why she brought Sylvia's daughter into it either. She wasnt even talking. Christina, Sylvia and Mona are very nice and hospitable. I love the way Sylvia does my hair and makes sure I love it before I leave. Its a really cute modern salon. 1 star rating is to high, very disappointed with this establishment & hairdresser Sylvia... Sylvia needs to learn the difference between a client complaining & requesting. Sylvia lacks professionalism & customer service skills. Responding to a client that they can go elsewhere if they are complaining is inexcusable. It took me close to 90 mins to drive to the new location & that in itself was frustrating.. but to tell your client, "I'm not moving" simply because I vented that I had a long drive is flat out rude! Sylvia needs a reminder that her profession is to provide service & that she needs to practice excellent customer service or she will loose clients. Sylvia could have been understanding that I came from a far distance & should have offered me some water & made me feel a little better. That's what good hairdressers do!! I experienced the complete opposite of that. Sylvia needs some training in this area. No paying customer should be treated rudely or dismissed. Sylvia isn't providing her service for free. Her rudeness & unprofessionalism left little to be desired. After the behavior displayed I wanted Sylvia to do the bare minimum, as I was over it. I've specifically listed below all my COMPLAINTS. This all happened during the same appointment & are my reasons why I highly recommend for you to GO TO ANOTHER SALON! I certainly will never step foot in this shack!! I hope Sylvia herself reads this review & learns how to differentiate complaints from requests! And reflects on her manners, because they cost her my business!!! 1. New location has more traffic due to the proximity of the airport & further from the freeway exit than Sylvia's previous location. I wouldn't mind the 35 mile each way drive if I felt valued & appreciated as a long term client. The way I was dismissed over what Sylvia misunderstood as a complaint lost her my business forever! 2. No parking, I only saw street parking. 3. Very small salon. It felt so tight & disorganized in this little outdated space. 3 hairdressers trying to work in a space that is made for 1 is absolutely absurd. I expected the new location to be an upgrade, highly disappointing. It was hot in there & the smell from all the fumes gave me a headache. Not clean, professional or neat. Cables hanging from all the plugs, dirty mirrors & hair all over like they don't clean. It's ugly & cheap! 4. Washing sinks are old & dirty. When Sylvia washed my hair suddenly the water got really hot & it burned my scalp. She was unapologetic, Sylvia only mentioned to Mona that they should have it checked. Sylvia's dismissive attitude after she burned my scalp with hot water should be reported. Sylvia can injure someone that can have extra sensitivity & the salon (Mona) will be liable. Again, lacking professionalism to the upmost! 5. I had an appointment to touch up my roots & highlights. Sylvia didn't care & ignored my request. All she did was touch up my roots & disregarded that I had asked her to touch up my highlights as well. No customer service etiquette whatsoever & gave me no apology or an explanation as to why she ignored my request & did what she wanted. I tip based on the treatment & service I receive..she didn't even earn a penny with her bad service! By this point I declined a hair cut & really could have walked out of there with wet hair..the blow dry & straightening effort had no impact bc I didn't feel valued as her client & I could have cared less that she was styling my hair. 6. I didn't appreciate hearing all the gossip. We are in a business setting, not in Sylvia's kitchen. All the negative things that were said about the old salon Sylvia & her daughter Christina moved from should be kept amongst themselves & not talked about openly in front of clients... It shows their lack of professionalism & manners...& reflects badly on the business to hear about family dramas. Mona is the owner, and she should establish some boundaries as to what is appropriate in her business establishment & what is not..Not a good impression to give clients in a new setting. If you don't mind a unprofessional hairdresser this is your spot. But if you value good work, excellent service then you will not find that here. I much rather pay extra & tip well but never be treated the way Sylvia treated me today. Sylvia doesn't value good customers & must not understand that without clients she fails.. I certainly don't need to tolerate this treatment from a mediocre hairdresser. Lots of competition out there & I'm sure one will love to do my hair the way I am requesting rather than finding excuses for their skill set. read more

Wow I just saw the rantings of the other lady and all I can say is maybe she was the one that was way off I have been coming to Silvia for approx 15 years my friends and family all go to her as well. we have drivin hours to see her she is nothing short of attentive and awesome she always asks all her clients what they want to do with thier hair and so on . I don't understand how someone could be in a bad place with themselves and totally try to defame someone as knowledgeable and legit as Silvia reminds me of high school . Sylvia is great! she was patience and explained to me up front about my hair since it was already been bleached treated. so i went another route in chosen a a different color. im so glad she did. she was honest to me so that way there would be no surprises. The ladies are so friendly they made you feel like family there was laughter and smiles all through the time i was there, made my day go by fast. even thou the place was small it didnt matter when your treated like family. Silvia and Cristina the other stylists assure that Mona's salon is staffed with only veterans with decades of experience. Mona's salon is the best place to go for coloring and cutting. I have read the previous negative review by anerol and the diatribe she posted and I cannot do anything other than laugh. Sylvia has always accommodated and listened to me and what services I would like completed with my hair over the last 18 plus years. The outcome is always spot on! She demonstrates a comfortable environment, which makes her clients feel at ease. I would image it would be a positive outcome to be rid of such a demanding client . I've been going to Mona's for 15+ years. I was driving over an hour from Orange County to get my hair done there. I love love love the service and products. Never once has my hair ever been damaged by this Salon. I have however gone to other salons and experienced bad cuts and horrible color leaving my hair dry and ugly. I do have to honestly say that one time I got my hair dyed at the mall (4give me Mona) and I was so stressed out due to work issues that the blond highlights didn't work out and my hair looked gray.... very bad experience.... however, I know that my nerves played a major role. So, I have nothing but great things to say about Mona's Salon, she's great and so is her staff. I'm sad to say that I haven't been able to return due to moving and tough economic times. But I shall return when I can. In the meantime a girlfriend referred me to a place near where I live, and it doesn't hold up to my standards... but it will do...Miss you Mona and my hair misses you too. read more
