I love this place, and I have eaten there several times when traveling I-74. Pizza crusts are very thin and crispy. Nothing not to like.

Decent pizza if you like thin crust. Sometimes great sometimes iffy customer service.

Slow service, they burn the pizza and it is always a complete zoo. Skip this one and drive to Champaign.

Monical's has always been a family favorite. We love the thin crust pizza, bread sticks and Monical's dressing.

I think I was pregnant and demolished two sandwiches: porketta and the other escapes me. If they offered a dessert, I probably got that too and enjoyed it. I recall great service and food. Located at Lincoln Square, the nonprofit I managed had a gig for another organization. Nothing to do with the food, but communicating an appropriate place for us to set up and perform was difficult. In the current location, my friend and I ordered pizzas for lunch. We probably could've shared one and split a salad. It was generous. We asked for take home boxes and were provided a box of foil. We wrapped up our pizza slices and the lady who took our order marched over and demanded the foil back. When she saw we had pizza she said she should've given us boxes. Maybe I'll give it a try again in the future and it won't be weird.

We were greeted upon entry and although I briefly looked at the menu online, there's so much other randomness that's available! Be sure to follow their socials for specials and limited menu items that aren't on the paper menus at the counter. We ordered the Baldarotta, Italian Beef, and Turkey Pesto-Hot. Also got an order of fries and the Sicilian Potato Salad. Then ran away with 2 pistachio cannolis! There are quite a few tables in the dining area. I really enjoyed that each table was different with a different set of chairs for each table. There are restrooms available...which was great because I definitely got messy! The namesake Baldarotta had a combination of the porketta and sausage and it made me smile from ear to ear! Such a comforting sandwich. The Italian Beef came with a a whole wide container of au jus for optimal dipping and was so flavorful! The Turkey pesto ordered hot (vs. cold) is a game changer! The pesto Mayo was DELISH! Fries were well seasoned. The potato salad had olives in it and I enjoyed that as well! The cannolis we took to go and enjoyed them later that evening! I loved how it wasn't too sweet at all! Parking was easy as there are spaces in the back. They are next to a brewery so could see pairing these tasty eats with a drink or two next door. Will definitely be back!

Batter great but mushroom looked like the got them right out of the tub from the grocery store across the street. Mushroom typically cooked down in the fryer these were still white button mushrooms dense and some hard. We didn't eat 3/4, I told server. Just a oh I'll tell them. Nothing else. Wife ordered pork burger and potato salad, our potato salads were extremely runny, again 5/10. My 2 meat platter, tri tip and brisket. No real flavor, I mean spices, smoke was ok, tri tip extremely hard to eat, stringy (overcooked) not tender at all (3/10) Brisket again not spice flavor, it had smoke, also only ate about 3 bites (3/10). Pit beans, 5/10. Everything on plate was not hot, also ordered a side of ribs which never made it to table but was on the bill. Wound up taking about as much home as that was brought out to us. Our son eats anything, since I paid 70$. I should have stayed with just a burger. We will return cause we like the place, it's an hour drive for us. But it was our conversation all the way home. We aren't ever going to cause a seen at a restaurant, but if a server would notice people not eating their food, there should be questions asked. Oh well she only came to take order delivery drinks when mushrooms came out, delivery food and drop the check. We didn't feel served well, which is odd for them. Usually very attentive. We never had this server before. We will return, but we will try some other small places in the mean time.

The food took over 30 minutes, which wouldn't be a deal breaker, if it was hot. The fries were cold. That's a death sentence in my opinion. The burger was fine, though not hot, at least warm enough. Sorry, maybe impressive for some, but not for this guy. I would have been happier at the BBQ joint across the street.

Though it looks unremarkable from the outside, inside, you'll find a wonderful restaurant where the staff is highly invested in making sure you have a great meal. My companion enjoyed a lovely Old Fashioned to start. I ordered the Turkey stroganoff, while he had the shrimp and grits. When the plates came out, I thought the veil was finally about to slip. They were well-plated, but huge. And yet...the veil didn't slip. It was haute-cuisine comfort food goodness in what looked like a converted warehouse space. Unreal! Though turkey is often too dry, my stroganoff was moist and succulent. The sauce was much more than just cream of mushroom -- lots of flavor and not too much salt. We had a time of it. I'd happily come back here again and again.

The location is a little unusual, being part of an old mall turned into an artsy shopping hub. There is a door outside of the mall to access the restaurant directly. Two notable dishes from our visit were the breakfast quesadilla (soooo good!) and the biscuits with mushroom gravy. The service was slow, however, it was a Sunday. We loved the place so much we booked a reservation for our next visit down to see our son at U of I. The restaurant also has a coffee bar where you can get special coffee drinks, and some random handheld foods. The seating area is eclectic and inviting. It may be my fault for ordering biscuits and gravy from a place like this, but it was on the menu and it's my go to. It was not good. The biscuits were hard, dry and very dense. They were large, but that may have made the issue worse. The gravy was ok, but not good enough to overcome the biscuits. I do not recall ever leaving a dish of B&G half eaten. But it happened here. If I ever stay at the hotel next door and try this place again I will try something else.
