Challenging, fun, and a great story to bring home! Monkey C Monkey Do is like a big outdoor version of the ropes course you can find in the South Portland mall. It works on a slightly different hook-in system, but doing it this way invites you to be present in what you are doing, and also adds another level of safety when you and buddy are looking out for each other. There are multiple levels of the ropes course, each more challenging than the other. The ground level is made for kids under 12 and it's a great intro to the latching system and "learning the ropes", so to speak. The very top level is black diamond level difficulty... I've seen a few kids brought to tears up there, and I imagine some adults have cried too. But there are a few levels in between that are a good balance of fun and challenging, while also very safe. Another great upside of buying the full ticket is the zip lines. So much fun! There are a few that you can access from the main course and a few that are nestled in the woods. I was terrified of zip lining before visiting and now I feel good about it. A lot of that is how skilled and thoughtful the whole staff is. They make you feel safe and also encourage you to face your fears and have a great time! Shout out to Bethel for running the whole show and creating a memorable experience for both kids and adults alike. What FUN!!! This massive jungle gym is super exciting for monkeys of all ages. Beyond the obstacles you see in the main compound, and there additional zip lines and elements deep in the woods as well. They give you 2.5 hours which honestly goes by real fast, especially when the course is full of people and you need to wait for people ahead of you. Very professional and safe environment. Super friendly staff. Definitely worth the money and memories. read more

I came here twice during the summer of 2018 both at the behest of friends who wanted to come because they purchased a Groupon. When you arrive at your time slot, you'll sit down and watch a safety video. It lasts only about 5 minutes so it's short and gets to the point -- you will also need to sign a waiver. They have cubbies for your keys and phones, both of which are not allowed while on the course. They have plenty of sunscreen and socks and shoes for those who forgot or were wearing less than ideal shoes. They strap you up in the harness and you actually feel kind of cool with the giant lobster claws (basically gigantic carabiners) and the thick rope they're attached to. They do a quick on the ground training session with a buddy system and everyone has to have at least one...so you should come with a friend and not alone. Then you'll move over to the actual course and you're required to go through the easiest level before you can graduate on to the next levels. If you've done any of these once, the easiest level is pretty easy and you can just walk right through in less than a minute. When I went the second time, we went through the second and third levels (there are 4 total). The second level took about 15-20 minutes with minimal hesitation and the third level, seeing as this was my first time doing it, was really quite challenging. There's more swinging, far less stability, and greater altitude. It took quite a bit to get through it because while they say it's fun to fall, it really doesn't seem that fun considering you have to climb back up or you might hit one of the wires. That said, if you're in okay shape, you can still get through it. I'm not someone who regularly exercises by going to the gym, but I could hold my own through it all. We topped it off by doing the giant swing (a lot scarier but totally doable) and the short zip line before we left. Overall, it's actually a pretty good deal even without the groupon considering you have 3 hours to spend on the entire course. The people are all very kind and experienced and it's right in Wiscasset which means you can grab a nice lunch right after if you go in the morning. read more

Kids, expect to have a lot of fun! Adults, expect to have a lot of fun and a sweat drenching workout! After being happily "stuck" in our rental house for a few days, it was time to venture out. After a visit to the Maine State Museum (see my review) we came here for some fun. I wish I found the Living Social deal for 1/2 price admission but it was already used up for the day. I did ask for a discount, and got $5 off the $40 adult price. My kids were 12 and under so they were $25 I believe. You start with the safety video which explains the rules and regs. You then move to have your harness fitted. This was the only part of the afternoon that was a bit unorganized by the mostly teenage staff and adults running the show. Fittings were being done out of order, and no one double checked my daughter's harness for the correct fit until a staffer was told to check...it needed to be adjusted. Probably the only bad part of the day. Once done, you move to the outside where the safety lecture continues including demos and proof that you were paying attention. You must have a buddy with you at all times and they ensure you are always attached to the lines which are tested up to 5000 lbs. Then, you're off! Three different levels (heights) with various degrees of difficulty to conquer each. My son pretty much got through everything but there was one time he slipped and did not have the ability to get back on the line. The staff was quick to react and come to help him get through the section. My daughter (who completed level one and did the multi-story swing) had a meltdown on level two but again the staff came and saved the day. Daughter was then done but you just can't go back down...you have to make your way back! The staff asked my permission to bring her back which I gave and she successfully got back to the start, and then to the ground. Did I mention my wife didn't make level one? She turned back and was given a refund. She's a trooper for even trying! Son and I continued on and eventual got to level three all the way up to the massive zip line which was a lot of fun. After that in the woods, you have a choice...three shorter zip lines, or eight more high ropes obstacles and then their longest zip line. You know my son took the more difficult route! After getting through everything I wished I brought my deodorant...I just had a pretty intense workout! Personally, I liked the swing best. My son liked the longest zip line. Just about all teenage staff out on the course, but every one of them were professionals. They were courteous and helpful. I was pleasantly surprised. Monkey C Monkey Do was a great afternoon of fun. It took my family a bit over the time planned to get through everything which is about 2 1/2 hours. It was well worth the price but I'd look for discounts or just ask for one! Stopped in yesterday afternoon with my wife and 8 year old grandson. Didn't have reservations, just stopped in as we were passing through. We decided to do the zip line and swing.. ("we" only includes grandson and me. My wife decided that she would stay on the ground. I'm not judging, just saying) After some paperwork and paying they got us harnessed up and sent us to the zip line. We zipped a couple of times, which was great fun, then headed for the swing. The swing was even more fun. Just had to wait longer to swing than to zip. I was a little concerned in the beginning because the staff was so young. However it soon became apparent that this group has been well trained. They were very friendly when dealing with very young and old (yes me) customers. It was obvious that they know that safety should always come first. I was very impressed. Overall a great experience for old and young. read more

What an awesome adventure! I did it with my 9 year old and it was a fantastic team building, fun, confidence boosting and thrilling experience. Some paths are more challenging than others. Very safe. My niece had a great time climbing and swinging on the ropes for 3 hours. There was enough variety to entertain ages from two to adult. The staff went out of their way to make sure all got their moneys worth. There were umbrella covered picnic tables for those who chose to only observe. Monkey C Monkey Do was fantastic! We called yesterday and were still able to get reservations for today. We had two 11 year olds, a 9 year old, and an 8 year old. They were able to climb all together, two and two. The 11 year olds had to take the lead a bit and help the youngers to transfer their clips (a bit of extra height helped). The older ones had climbed before, which also helped, and they coached their younger brothers through the level 1 course. After doing the level 1 loops, the younger ones were ready for a break but then did the zip line several times and really enjoyed the kids' course as well. (It might have been a better place for them to start in retrospect, but that depends on how adventurous your child is.) The two 11 year olds proceeded to climb up to level 2 and then to level 3, taking the higher zip line down to the back woods to complete another part of the course there and then zip back towards the front. We had 2 1/2 hours on the course, and the kids loved every moment. The staff were so helpful and attentive. We saw plenty of staff out on the course, calling out reminders to climbers to make sure they were transferring clips safely. The video and ground course lead by staff at the beginning help first time climbers to know what to expect and returning climbers to remember how to follow all of the safety precautions even when they are feeling more confident. This place is so much fun! Went there today and my family and I agree that the way they're handling COVID is sufficient. The staff wore masks getting us harnessed and whenever they were close, but understandably took them off every now and then when distanced from the guests (it's a ropes course people you're out in the hot sun). Also, I'd like to add that we were there when another guest unfortunately had a medical episode while on the course. The staffs response was quick and professional and I was very impressed. Grace and Ryan (I believe his name was Ryan?) kept a cool head during a stressful situation and knew what had to be done to get the guest to the ambulance. LOVE THIS PLACE!! Surprised there aren't any more reviews. We drove by on the way to Boothbay Harbour and returned the next day (about 16 miles) to check it out. If you like outdoor sports, and want to try something extra challenging, then this is the place. Plan on spending a good 2 1/2 hrs (your choice) to get through all of the courses. There were kids of all ages 5+, however, my highly athletic 7 yr. old found it a bit daunting and challenging after 3 courses. She opted for the zip lines, which she did on her own for a couple of hours, while we finished the course. We completed all the way to the top course just so we could do the higher and longer zip lines (3 of them). FUN, FUN, FUN. But this is no joke. It's a serious workout and can be strenuous. It's a big confidence builder. They are serious about safety. You have to watch a 10 min video and do a safety run with an instructor first. You have to have a buddy throughout the course. RECOMMEND lots of sunscreen, gloves (will help with all the rope grips - hands hurt after a while) and a baseball hat. No cell phones or items allowed in your pockets - this is a serious climbing and obstacle course. read more

Second year in a row we have gone for my son's birthday. The kids just CAN'T get enough of the outdoor laser tag and the ropes course has something for everyone. The staff is helpful, kind, and encouraging to the kids. Half of our group went to the top of the ropes course, the other half was equally happy doing the giant swing and zip lining over and over. It's safe, adventurous and you can tailor your visit to suit your interests and fitness (and fear) level! clearly the owner does not want respond to my review saying that he has no access to it. anyone can open Yelp and read it.... We have been to at least 4 other similar parks in the NE and when you purchase a ticket or package you are explained whats included and what is expected. Not at this place. I believe the reason why the upper zip line is very restricted is because they don't have enough staffing to supervise the activities. Don't advertise ZIP lines if you are not going to let kids use them. Anywhere else i have gone i paid and the kids had a blast. this place is a joke and the owner is trying to play the " safety card " to divert attention from what really happens there. my kids are teens and their primary interest where ZiP line and they were only allowed on one very minuscule very low little kids type of Zip Line.
