At my dealership today for general service, I was told my care was out of alignment. I was surprised because after I bought new tires I had gone to Monro on Rohrstown for alignment in January. To my pleasant surprise, my care was taken right into a bay and checked. I was expecting a bit of a hassle or argument about this. John was great and said he wanted to make it right if it wasnt. False advertising doesn't even start with what I have to say about this place. First off, I went in there to get my oil changed and wanted the $14.99 special. I use Synthetic oil in my car because I travel back and forth from Harrisburg at least once a week. Well, He wouldn't give me the sale price. So while I waited I went to MOD and got lunch, as soon as I was done eating, they called me and said that my brakes were failing, metal on metal and the fluid was black. They wanted over $800 for the service to be done. I went back in to get my car back, they charged me $42.26 instead of possibly something less than $20 for the oil change. Talk about false advertising. After I was done here, I called my brother's garage in Columbia since they do my inspection and asked if they could check my brakes. When I went, they told me that except for one of my rear brakes, the brakes were fine, no metal on metal, the fluid wasn't black as coal, just a little dirty. So apparently this place was trying to rip me off too! So I'm at a point of just going back to Pep Boys for my oil changes or even my brothers garage from now on. I can see why this place has a low rating from a lot of people. read more

My car had a vibration while at speeds 40 and higher. Took my car there because they were not busy. Should have been my first clue. I wanted to have my tires balanced and aligned. I told the shop what my problem was and they said that should take care of it. They test drove my car and put it on the lift. Then they came to me saying that my car needed an alignment and two new front tires. The tire package they initially quoted me at $134 now became $600 dollars because of the tires. Again the mechanics there said it will reduce the vibration. 4 hours later I get a call saying that it was good to pick up. I start driving and the vibration is still there. Monroe completely scammed me for new tires and installation fees when they knew that didn't fix the problem. Extremely dissatisfied and I will never go back there again. Maybe they are ok with oil changes but avoid them for anything else. read more

Consumer be aware. I took my car here for my inspection. They called me back and told me I needed windshield wipers, pads and rotors replaced in order to pass inspection and that the total would be $950. I was shocked to hear this news since my car drives well. I told them I did not want the work done and was charged $124.00 and given a failed sticker on my car. When I went to pick up my car they told me that pads and rotors were on the border line and therefore needed replacement by the guidelines of PA requirements. I took my car to another mechanic for a second opinion and was told that I did not need windshield wipes or rotors and would only need pads only next year. Not a good way to do business. They have lost a good customer. read more

I think these employees are all about selling selling selling. no one likes a pushy sales person. I waited over an hour for a job the man said would take 'up to 30 minutes.' I had a flat tire that needed to be patched and he recommended I get two new tires because they were worn down... which I considered. but then he told me the price of two new tires which seemed attrociously high compared to other places and what I've done my research on. He explained that maybe they were used tire prices i was looking at (they weren't), and that he couldnt lower the prices, which I completely understand. but as a college student I cant afford to spend unneccesary money. So I told him I'm going to think about it for a minute and I looked on their website to see if they had any deals or coupons, which they did for a free patchwork on one tire, perfect yeah?. (the most positive thing i can point out here!) So i presented the coupon to the man at the desk and asked if he was able to honor it even though it didn't have a bar code to scan. He said sure, but then as he was printing out the invoice not even 10 minutes later, he totaled up a price of 30 some dollars... as if i never asked him about the coupon. This was after he went in the back and talked to some guy and ran back out saying he could sell me two used tires for 20 dollars each...? after he told me they didn't have any.. so God knows where he pulled those out of. Long review short, all these men want to do is sell you crap. I felt they were pushy and just treated me like a young girl who doesnt know anything.. and that's not the way it is. Their management HAS changed frequently which makes me wonder what's happening behind the scenes. read more

Heard a weird noise coming from my front brakes and these guys wasted no time helping me out! They figured out I was missing a bolt in my caliper and were happy to replace it and get me good to go at no charge. I went in today after making a 12 appointment online. Went in at 12 to get a tire and see about some warranty work. 2 guys seemed so irritated that we came in, told them we have appointment and was told they can not look at the car till at least next week. Asked if we could at least get a tire since it was flat, was told not till next week but try not drive on the spare that much. Was told they were eating lunch and couldn't do anything. Asked about warranty work since they told us to go there and they would look at it, call the company and get approval. The man said no I have to call the company get him paperwork then they will look at it and see if it's approved. Called warranty company and they said no they need to look at it first then we will give them everything and I do not need paperwork. Man told me they are a reliable garage ... lol you couldn't even put your food down or say hello. If we made appointment on line the correct thing would be to call and say you couldn't take us at that time. It was pure laziness on there part. Would rather pay for the repairs then have them touch my car. read more

Total crooks. Had some work done there when I first got my car and it was ridiculous how expensive it was. When I went to a new mechanic and told them how much I paid for what I got done they were astounded. I got 2 new tires here and within 3 months they were already bubbling. I bought insurance on the tires and they said they didn't want to replace them because there was nothing wrong. My other mechanic had tipped me off that they were lying and that my tires were shot. read more

I went to Monro to have a flat tire checked. The service tech found 2 nails in the tire and said that it could NOT be repaired. He also told me the other back tire was very bad (the car just passed inspection the week before). He then quoted me a price of over $300 for 2 tires. I told him that I could not afford this so he offered to put on the spare tire. I went to the Country Tire Barn in Manheim and asked for a used tire. After inspecting the tire with the nails, the tech said that they can repair it for $15.90! So they did and the tire seems as good as new. Thank you Tire Barn!!! read more

We had taken our vehicles to Monro regularly for several years, and under it's previous ownership, Dale, it was well run. We felt like the people there actually knew what was going on and told us more of what was going on. Over the last couple of years, this shop (Monroe on Rohrerstown Rd.) has changed management at least twice. The current manager is not at all helpful or personable. Last week we brought our vehicle in for an oil change, and specifically asked them to make a note that the engine has been making a couple of strange noises. I described the noise, and the manager assured me they would check it out. When picking up the vehicle, the manager did not mention anything about this problem, so we asked and the only response that was given was "oh, yeah, the mechanic that worked on your car is not good at noises." When pressed further, he said they looked at the belt and it "looked okay." They did not check for anything else at all. The noise is still there, as loud as ever, and as soon as I drove the car away, the check engine/engine control system light came on at the dash. I would not be surprised if the mechanic not only did not fix the problem, but perhaps even made it worse. Long story short, now our car is in the shop at a place that has a much better reputation, and I am sure they will figure out what the problem is. We have had several other problems with Monro in the last year (mostly poor management and unimpressive work, always feeling like they are trying to sell you on some additional, often unnecessary, maintenance/upgrade)... But this incident was the last straw. We will not be returning our business to Monro Muffler again. Our only warning to you is to think about how important it is to trust your mechanic. Perhaps you would prefer to ask around to find a place with a better reputation than this place. We wish you all the best. read more

Took my car in for an inspection. They told me it failed due to control arm bushing. I was traveling up state that week and took my car to 4 separate mechanics. All of which told me the bushings were absolutely perfect. Two of the mechanics were working for a different Monro. I took my car to them and it passed. This was all within the 10 day re-inspection period. Was told by the Monro to take the receipt back to the first Monro. Upon doing so they told me "no re-funds". I told them everything that happened, that 4 other mechanics looked at it and said nothing was wrong with the bushings. After telling Monro this he started telling me that my car should have failed due to the E-brake cable, which they "fixed" a week prior. After telling them they did the work on that the other mechanic walked in who had looked at me car, he proceeded to blame another mechanic who wasn't working at the time. The then offered to take my car on the lift which i refused, told them they have lost a customer and wouldn't be touching my car again. As i walked out I was told "its mechanics discretion" even though 4 others said it was perfectly fine. In short, make sure to get a second opinion, or 4... and make sure not to give these crooks your time, or money. read more

Ive waited a week to rate this place and the sour taste is still present. So take it for what you think it might be worth this review. I had an appt. for Friday the 11th of May. Got the confirming email. My choice of places was at Rhrerstown Road. I got there on time or so I thought. I was told by the most rude and annoying person I have ever met in a garage. He informed me they did not have me set for an appt. Without telling me, they farmed my appt. out to another shop, on Oregon PIke. A short twenty minute ride, closer to 40 in mid day Lancaster traffic. So I called that Monro, and told them I would be late. They had NO record of my appt. I made a bee-line back to the first shop. I pulled my phone out, showed the most inept service manager ever, my confirmation which clearly stated I was at the right shop. He insisted on calling the Oregon Pike shop while I waited. He called and told me again my service was farmed out there. When I told him I called barely 5 minutes ago and was told I had no appt. there, he didnt know what to say. There is nothing in writing anywhere on the site or confirmation that reads you can be farmed out to another facility half an hour away. The choice for this shop was I was just a couple blocks away, and could do it over lunch. If it is a policy to do this , should not the customer be notified before getting to the shop that their appt. isnt there? I did get the service my Jeep needed at another Monro shop just to see, and the service there was well above average. I would advise anyone looking for automotive service steer clear of the shop on Rohrerstown Road, unless you enjoy a good ole run around. read more
