Made an appointment for 8am on a Saturday to have 4 tires put on the vehicle. Get them and no tires in house for the vehicle even though appointment was made a week in advance. I call back at 11 and was told the tires just got there and the car would be ready by 2-2:30 3 hours to mount and balance 4 tires???? Got car back at 4 with no explanation or a discount for ruining my whole day. Will never ever go to that place again I would suggest to avoid them at all cost! read more

I came here to get a mandatory car inspection. This was the closest place to the DMV so I made an appointment with them. It took about an hour for the inspection & cost $21. Luckily this place is located in a plaza with lots of food/shopping options so I wasn't bored during this wait time. After the inspection I was told that my brake fluid is getting acidic. The worker showed me a picture of the pH color sheet and gave me a little chart that showed what the color meant. I was also given a report on the tread of my tires and my brake pads (which were fine). I liked that the worker spent time explaining each result with me. I was happy with the service & the price. I only needed a NY Inspection. They were super friendly. I chatted with the guy at the counter while waiting for my car to get done. It passed and had no issues. I recommend this place for Inspections and Oil Changes. I haven't had anything else done there so I can't really comment. read more

This is the kind of place that makes people distrust auto mechanics. I asked for a simple inspection on my 2011 Honda Civic and was made to believe that it needed $950 worth of work to pass. I asked him what the bare minimum was to pass inspection and he said it came down to $830 for New tires and a battery change. Again, all of this was under the premise that my car wouldn't pass inspection... I kept asking questions until at last it was clear that it had already passed inspection and didn't need those things to pass inspection. So dishonest and manipulative! While I understand that I do need new tires and probably a new battery, every sales person needs to be direct and not mislead people to think that my car needs those things to pass inspection if it is not needed! That's a sad and dishonest sales trick. Came here in a pinch because Mr. Tire was out of inspection stickers and I regret this choice!! read more

I have never been treated so poorly by someone at a repair shop in my life...and that's saying a lot. I went to get my exhaust repaired and a brake job. The "Manager" BJ quoted me a price that was WAY too high. I told him that I wouldn't pay it. He came back at me with a lower price. And though that was still too high, I needed it done and didn't really have time to run around so I told him to go ahead. I have a custom exhaust and brakes, so I knew the price would be high. You would think that a place called Monroe MUFFLER & BRAKE would have looked to see what I have before quoting me a price. (I kind of thought that he gave me a price too quickly, but what do I know). I came back later that day to pick up my car and was told by BJ that it would be a lot more because it was a custom job. I told him that's his problem and he was supposed to check it out before hand. He also said it wouldn't be done for at least 2 days because he had to custom order the parts. Its a muffler shop for God Sake. I went outside to talk to the tech who was working on my car, because he seemed to be the only one who knew what was going on. I was promptly told by BJ to leave and I could not talk to his tech because he was busy. I told him to pull my car out and I would take it elsewhere. He tried to charge me for a diagnostic on the car and I laughed in his face and drove away. i took it to Midas a few miles away. Cost me about 200 dollars less and was done in 3 hrs. I was told that the car needed a great deal of parts to repair the vehicle. I told them I could not afford such a costly repair. They used their skill to fix the concern to make the car drive-able. Received the most horrible service directly from the manager, BJ. I came into the shop for a tire patch. I made an appointment online and he sounded disgusted with me because I "should have called instead". If that is the case then the option shouldn't be available at all. Next he proceeded to tell me that all that was left of my brakes was the thickness of "one strand of my hair". Little did he know 2 weeks ago I had a tune up...my brakes are perfectly fine. DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE BUSINESS. They will try and con you ESPECIALLY if you are a young woman and they think you know nothing about vehicle maintenance. Byer beware!!!! Monro replaced the brakes on our 2006 BMW X3. After leaving heading out of the parking lot of the shop the brake lights came on. I returned to show the shop and they were not sure how to fix. Little did I know they had not replaced the sensors that should have been replaced. As I drove out of the parking lot I was having to hit the brake all the way to the floor to get the vehicle to stop. I took the vehicle to Burdick BMW and after they looked at the car they found that the spring clips were not replaced the pad sensors were not replaced and there was a large amount of anti-seize used which got onto the pads causing very slow breaking. While Monroe provides a "warranty" for their work, putting people into an unsafe condition and expecting them to bring back their car for their care is crazy. After paying for all of the work to be redone in a safe manner at Burdick BMW I contacted their corporate office and they decided they would pay for the spring clips and the replacement pads which was less than a third of the cost. I will never go to Monroe again. read more

Go in on a day when the manager with a flat top isn't there. This guy's name is BJ and he is cocky and rude to customers and even more vile to his employees. While I was there waiting he was nasty, cold and rude to at least 3 customers and verbally berated an employee for taking a break. Mind you, this was the only employee that seemed to be doing any actual work. Aren't breaks allowed in New York State. What a joke. I went to Monro fully prepared to pay for new brakes front and back because another garage told me I needed them. I went here because they gave me a very good price quote and had online coupons. The counter guy, TJ was friendly, and told me he would call before any work was done. He called about and hour later after inspecting the brakes and told me they didn't need replacing at this time. Great, I now had money to have other work done there... I am definitely going back here when my brakes do need replacing!!! I highly recommend.Honest!! read more

Brought my classic car in for inspection. I knew it needed a few things (brakes, wipers, tires, horn wasn't working). Since the original horn on the car didn't work I'd had a button installed to replace it. I knew that would be an easy fix. However, it was failed, for the above reasons BUT they also said my e-brake did not work at all....which is not true. Also there is a small piece of plastic missing from one of my tail lights. I've had the car inspected twice and that was never sighted as an issue. They took my sticker and when I asked if I would get a 10-day sticker they said no because that's only if it fails emissions. My car does not need to pass emissions because it is over 25 years old! This is not the first time I've had issues with this shop. I brought my car in for a wheel bearing awhile back and was quoted 100$ more for the job than ANOTHER Monro quoted and did it for. They also replaced my battery and wipers when I had never asked them to do so. Both were in working order (the battery was bought less than a year prior).Don't waste your time this place is a rip off and takes advantage of it's customers read more
