I was told to come in at an appointed time and they would do a free inspection and give me an estimate for the job. They said it would take about an hour to do, and how much it would cost. Didn't have anything else planned for the afternoon so I waited. Where was I going to go without a car? It's not like in the City where I could take a train, bus, or even walk home or find something to do in the neighborhood, It took about an hour. They showed me the brake pads. I have been a regular customer here for 10+ years, but will not be going there anymore. Quality of service as well as customer service has severely declined. And the head guy behind the desk has become a rude prick. They cross-threaded one of my bolts, it broke off, and they won't take responsibility and fix it complimentary. I've been a loyal customer of 10+ years and he basically told me I must be lying because his workers are too good. This is insulting. Plus, it's such a simple repair. As a business owner myself, doing the simple low cost things to keep customers happy is so easy to do. Over the last few times I've gone in, I've had abrasive interactions with him but have brushed them off as having a bad day, having difficult customers before me, or whatever. This review is the Monroe Mufflers Shop off of route 9 in Wappingers Falls. This review is to warn others about their mechanics they hire and the lack of respect they have for customers properly. Do not bring your car to Monroe if you have expensive rims. Stay far away from Monroe muffler. I will never give them a dime of my business ever again. Most of all their mechanic are uneducated and probably don't even have degrees or certificates to be a mechanic, and look like drug addicts. I needed new tires replaced on my Mercedes that has aftermarket alloy rims. I got my car back today and saw 2 inch long and deep grooves and scratches all over the 2 rims they replaced tires on. The 2 inch deep holes I have on my rims now, are exactly where the tool clamps onto the tire from the tire removal machine. Most mechanics are smart enough to put padding between the metal arms and the alloy or chrome rims to avoid scratches or dents in the rim, but not the untrained mechanics at this Monroe Muffler shop.. They have no respect for customer properly ,. The marks on my 2 rims is a poor excuse for a mechanic. It almost looks like he was in a super hurry and made scratches and marks all around the center of the rim and the lower portion of the rim, where the clamp tool touches. It's funny because 2 years ago I had a very similar issue with another mechanic at this same Monroe shop, who scratched rims from another vehicle of mine, I thought maybe they smarted up, but I should have learned my lesson and not returned to shop ever again. I didn't receive any help from the managers at Monroe about the damage to my property and I don't expect any help now. I been customer to this same Monroe shop for close to 15-20 years and I must say this shop is not what it used to be, the mechanics have no one in high authority in the back of the shop to watch them, and they run that shop like a damn circus. The counter people at Monroe are also clueless with what's going on in the back shop, nor do they even care, they run the counter and that's all. These untrained mechanics in the back should be watched by someone in a higher position to make sure they are doing their job correctly. I do admit the counter people at Monroe are the major reason I return, they are always very nice, courteous and helpful, but it's the mechanics in the back who run amuck and get do whatever they want to customers cars and have no one watching them as they are destroying people's cars. The managers at Monroe don't care about their customers or their customers concerns, as long as they got paid for their service, the customer service stops. If a mechanic damages your car, you won't be given any help by the high ups at Monroe. Take my word now, go to a more reputable shop who care about their customers and hold their employees at a high standard for their actions. Monroe can't get any real mechanics, so they hire wannabe mechanics who have no idea how to fix a car. The only suggestion I can give you, is that Monroe muffler shop is probably just good for state car inspections, and after reading reviews from other customer who say that they don't hold up to inspection appointments etc, I wouldn't even take my car there for inspection. They are going to fail you for the stupidest issues so they can force unwarned repairs on your car. If you care about your car as much as I care about my car, that I paid my hard earn money for, take it to a shop who cares about your car as much as you, because Monroe doesn't give 2 Shits. The mechanics at this Monroe are not certified mechanics and don't know their a$$ from their elbow. read more

Just kidding on that 05-2020 review I wrote. About 2 weeks after my visit, I found that they had completely broken my TPMS sensors which cost me about $500 to replace at the dealer (because I sure as heck wasn't about to bring my car back here). How did I know the issue occurred here? Well, let's see. My sensors had not had any issues for the year since I had them changed. I drive my car about 5 miles a week or less. Right after my tire service here, my sensor lights kept going off. Finally, I checked, and the sensors looked like they had been chewed up by something. So much regret... Nice people, but questionable work. read more

I had a 1pm Appt to get 2 tires installed and a wheel alignment. I waited till 2 pm my car was not in the bay yet. I said I will give them benefit of doubt. So I had my wife pick me up, I called at 5 pm Is my car ready he said it is being worked on as we speak. I said no rush I'll just pick it up in the am, I said can you call me when it's ready. The person said I will call you in the am. 11am comes I call to see if my car is ready. They said it will be done in 30 minutes. I will never be to this business again. Something's happened to this place in the last year Scheduled a 9:45 appointment for inspection had to go back at 2 o'clock to see what was going on with my car. I just had this car in the dealership 1 month ago and there was nothing wrong. Now the front rotors are bad and all sorts of lights are out. They were shocked that I disagreed with them and reminded them that I couldn't get these repairs done here by State of NY rules. I said I was never coming back and they said Good. Rude rude rude. And liars. Had my car towed there, already diagnosed. I let them know what the problem was before the car was brought there. then they tell me the next day that they don't do that kind of work. Had to pay for a tow to the dealership from there unnecessarily. No idea why warranty companies would use these people. Not recommended at all. read more

Dan the manager was pretty rude and his tone speaking to myself as well as another customer was not very kind. He also took his mask off completely while helping a pair of customers. Those customers and everyone else waiting were wearing their masks. read more

Crook of a manager named Dan, unqualified mechanics. They broke the tire sensors while replacing and rotating tires, one of the simplest jobs you can ask for. My warranty company told me that Dan was lying about everything, voided his claim, and paid for me to go to the overpriced Toyota servicing center across the street, anything to get away from these crooks. read more

The previous manager, who was great, has moved on. Now, they will try to sell you unnecessary services such as brake fluid flush and power steering flush, and even new windshield wipers. When I didn't bite, I was returned my car with a lug nut missing on a wheel, which I am highly suspicious that they did this in retaliation. Used to be great, now - STAY AWAY!!! read more

After an emergency situation, Monroe was the only place opened for miles. Jay the mechanic not only took us in as a walk-in right before close, but gave us an unbelievable deal and spectacular service, replacing two tires after warning me of a potential disaster. Extremely grateful and I would recommend this place without question. read more

If there was less than 1 star I would give it. The manager is a complete swindler. I don't know if it's the company policy to exploit, but these guys try very hard. I went in for an inspection and my catalytic converter is going bad but the light was not on. I have brand new tires on the car with no wear at all. The mechanic wiggled the tire and looked with a flashlight. The manager then told me there are a lot of problems with the car. I need to have the converter replaced before he would pass the SAFETY inspection. Then he told me I needed an alignment without even putting the car on the machine and even though my tires were brand new, he said there was wear inside. The alignment was going to be $139.00 by the way. In a heated conversation I let him know that he is taking advantage of people and I'm not going to be one of them. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!! Went in Saturday for a Catalytic converter repair and was told by the old man that he could not help me. Even though I received a confirmation email. I showed him the confirmation email and his response was don't know what to tell you but I can't help you. Two cars outside and two people inside very rude and not customer friendly I am a manager of a retail location and would never treat people like that. I took my car across the way to Nissan and they took care of me right then and there as a walk in. Paid a little more but treated with respect and professionalism. People stay away from here go elsewhere read more

Good for tire rotation. I had been using it for tire rotation as I bought my car tires from BJs. I used to do oil change here but stopped doing it once they did not close the oil cap and i had a big oil leak. Also they recommend unnecessary expensive services such as power steering flush, transmission flush. I listened to them and did the power steering flush two years ago and when i went last week, he asked me to do it again. However when I searched for power steering flush on auto forums and asked the dealership work shop, i found out that it is not usually required. read more

I have been going here since they first opened but every time I have gone the experience has gotten more and more sketchy. The guys are pretty nice ... but I have had several occasions that left me questioning the integrity of the place. The last time they told me that I needed new rotors and no other explanation (front? back?) and then I went back today with my other car and they told me this car too needs new brakes and rotors or else it would not pass inspection. When I denied it because I could get a better price somewhere else they did the oil change I requested as well. However I got into the car and they gave me conventional, when my last oil change was synthetic like it says on the little sticker on the top. I will be taking my car somewhere else for a new oil change and fix the brakes for inspection. I really liked going here because it's so convenient but I think I need to find a new spot. :( read more

I like to buy my tires at the bj's attached to this shop. The first time I went there I left with my wheel alignment totally wacked. I went to sears to have it re-aligned. The next time I went there for a muffler They didn't attach the hanger for the muffler, my heat shield on the cat got broken somehow, and the o2 sensor got broken, Oh, and somehow by working on the exaust my wheel alignment got changed again, so much so when I drove away the wheel wasn't centered and my tires squealed going around turns. I went right back to sears and they told me the left toe in had been adjusted a lot.The manager at Monro told me I needed an idler arm. I bought a good one and on my next trip there I asked them to install it for me and they refused because I didn't buy the part from them. I went to another mechanic and he told there was nothing wrong with the one on the car.. I paid them $60 to mount and balance my tires, they put weights on three of them that were not right. and they didn't bother to balance the right front tire at all. I noticed this on the highway when the front end started to shimmy. I feel they did shoddy work, told me I needed work that I didn't, didn't do the work I paid them to do, and vandalized my car to make more money for themselves. I'll still buy my tires at bj's but these schmucks are never touching my car again. read more
