We have eaten here twice on trips through Topeka, the service is always excellent and the food arrives quickly. For our meal last night we ate a saag paneer, a kofta curry, chana masala and bhaingan barta. They were all exceptional. The kofta was slightly more sweet than normal. But the bhaingan barta was absolutely delicious and the chana masala was one of the best i have had. The servers are knowledgeable and directed me to a vegan bread, the first i have had in an indian restaurant. Well worth a stop and easily accessible from i70 for a road trip stop. read more

Really well done Indian food in Topeka! As a fan of Indian food for years across the country, this food is on par with the best Indian food I've had across the country. My wife had the chala masala, and I had the chicken makhani, with samosas and a scrumptious peshwari naan. The spice balance was excellent, with an excellent flavor balance, and spiciness levels were as advertised - I requested spicy, and it was pretty seriously spicy (I like habanero sauces...). My wife's was mild, as requested. Service was friendly, and the atmosphere was pleasant. We plan to go back soon! read more

I went here with my family. The food here is excellent. I did not know that naan comes in 4 good sized pieces. So ordered a garlic naan, onion naan and plain naan with Paneer masala curry. The taste is so good. As the naans are good sized ones , we could only eat half the order. So we ordered another curry as to go . This place is a must try !!!! On a cross-country road trip, the husband and I made a quick detour in Topeka and were surprised to find this fantastic FAST food. A superb alternative to the typical sandwich or burger road food options. We each got an Express box - half naan and half rice with 2 choices of main dish- I did butter chicken and mutter paneer, the man did chicken 65 and veggie korma- and everything was tasty, fresh and high quality. On our recent trip to Topeka, my husband and I had a wonderful lunch at Monsoon Grill. While neither of us prefers buffets, we decided it would be the easiest way to sample a variety of their dishes and we're really glad we did! It was all absolutely fantastic. I can safely say this is the best Indian food I've ever had, as usually there are just one or two things that wow me at an Indian restaurant and I was wowed by every single item I tried at Monsoon Grill. The dal was blowing my mind here. Their kheer was the meal's shining star though -- so often it's powdery and tastes like it came from a mix (I can do that myself at home with ease!) and theirs was so creamy and amazing, nothing like the others. Nice small salad bar available as well, and I loved the way they kept the entrees, rice, and naan hot inside chafing dishes rather than an open air buffet. The price was a bit higher than expected for lunch but given the comfortable, spotless dining room, attentive staff, and high quality food, it was WELL worth the price. read more

Fantastic Shahi Chicken Khorma and very friendly. Pretty quiet and tucked away in the corner of a strip mall. Monsoon wins for me with both food quality and food service. This place is seriously so delicious and the wait staff is very kind. Topeka doesn't have a wide variety of decent local restaurants, but I am so thankful that this restaurant is one of them. For Indian food I would say that it is decently priced and the variety and quality seems very authentic. Don't be deterred by the strip mall location! The quality is much better than you would expect by the outward appearance. Also, every time that I have been there the wait staff has been incredibly kind. One time I even went there with a friend who had small children, and I have never seen a waiter who is more understanding of a child's somewhat unpredictable and disruptive behavior. It's one of the best independent restaurants Topeka has-- excellent, authentic & reasonably priced Indian food, modern ambiance, lovely owners, great service! Eating here is like traveling to India via your plate & palate! We've enjoyed everything we've tried, be it buffet or ala carte but our favorites are the Samosas, Lamb Saagwala, Butter Chicken, the Tikka Masalas, garlic Naan & Tandooris. The servers also make their own happy recommendations-- that's always a good sign.
