Clay Oven Indian Cuisine - Forget the name of this dish and did not get a photo of the menu. Chick, green peps, onions. 7/10. Coconut curry was better.

Naan is warm, chewy and has some crunchy bits where it bubbles up into a thinner area. STJ residents and visitors - please start and continue to patronize this Indian cafe! It's too good to let it go out of business. K, thanks!

The restaurant itself was clean, and our server was attentive and friendly. A couple of people in our group appeared pretty satisfied with their meals, but as someone who loves genuine spice and great Indian cuisine, my dish really missed the mark. The Food Breakdown: Chili Chicken: I was expecting an authentic, fiery Indian chili chicken. Instead, while there was a decent amount of chicken, it was mostly loaded with peppers and onions and tasted much more like a Chinese-style sweet and sour chicken. As far as heat goes? It had about as much kick as a fake fireplace. Garlic Naan & Sides: The garlic naan was actually the best part of my meal--fresh and full of flavor! Unfortunately, naan doesn't pair great with sweet and sour sauce. To make matters worse, unlike other entrees on the menu that came with rice, mine came out completely on its own ("in its birthday suit"). The Price & Verdict: For the quality and execution of what I received, it felt pretty overpriced. The naan was around $6 and the entree was a shade over $20. While others at the table had better luck, if you're looking for deep Indian flavor profiles or real heat, you might be disappointed.

The decor is relaxed with bronze and brown and always clean. Take a moment to look up at the ceiling and admire the decor. Our favorite dishes include the Butter Chicken, Lamb Curry, Vegetable Pakoras, and Saag Paneer. I appreciated being able to "dial in" our level of heat for the entrees to make each custom to our tastes. Service was outstanding from our initial greeting to the filling of our waters. We have eaten in, taken out, but have not tried the family dinners or the buffets, which we'll have to do on our next trip to KC. One caution - They are closed on Tuesdays. Overall, a great stop if you have a layover in KC or are near the airport.

Prices were outrageous for a rather "thin" buffet. The food, once again" was as good or better than at many of the other restaurants of this type. We were there to celebrate a friend's birthday. The staff did NOTHING special to elevate the moment. Personally I would have preferred the Korma and its loquacious owner with a balloon behind his ear! I f you are north of the river and stuck with Zona Rosa and don't feel stuck with high prices you probably can't miss with SWAGGAT!

I was in Topeka last weekend with my friend Rebecca K. to do some shopping, and she suggested stopping here to take the food back to Manhattan. However, I worked up a hunger and we decided to eat an early dinner. The restaurant opens for dinner at 4:30 PM. We arrived right before 5 and the France v. England third place World Cup Match was on. I got a mango lassi and we ordered chaat papri for an appetizer. I decided to order a lot so I could bring some back to Eric R. who loves Indian food. I got the badami chicken kebob as I had never heard of this but it sounded amazing. I also got lamb vindaloo. Rebecca K. got her own dish and garlic naan to share. The chaat papri game out with three chutneys on the side and it was SO good. The badami chicken was marinated in yogurt, lemon, almond paste, and spices. It was served with onions on a sizzling platter like fajitas! We got plenty of basmati rice with our meal. It was absolutely delicious. I had lots of food to take home and share with Eric R. the next day. The service was also excellent. I will definitely be back here to try new dishes, especially since there are many that I do not see typically on Indian restaurant menus.
