This is a super cool smaller ski hill. Great for beginners, or drinks with some buddies. Lift tickets are a fraction of the price at other hills, so don't come with big mountain expectations and you wont be disappointed. If you come with the expectation of having a couple of drinks and running the same runs a couple times you will have a blast. Staff is super friendly! read more

Wedding venue was borderline disaster. Booked 8 months in advance, but 3 months out, did not return calls, emails, etc. 2 Event planners either were fired or quit, we found out. 1 month out they started to respond ....but poorly. The actual wedding weeked: no one there to let us in Friday morning, as promised, except a cook in the kitchen, who was unwelcoming. Ended up setting up wedding am.Ugh. bar service poor, understaffed, grouchy. Food was tolerable, though the vegan dish had cheese. Dont expect anyone to go out of their way if you have a question or concern. One guest staying in a cabin had no heat and the oath to the showerhouse was unlit and snow/ice coverred. The ended up booking somewhere else. DONT RELY ON VENUES CHEARFUL ATTITUDE WHEN BOOKING! Only by showing our contract were charges clarified when sett;ling up. read more

Ski hills are good! Staffing is notoriously horrendous. We frequently have only 4-5 people in front of us in the ticket line and yet somehow it takes you 40 minutes to get a ticket. You might plan to grab lunch for your family, and then that day the whole snack bar is closed because of staffing. They might be running only part of the hill because of "low staff," and then have five staff behind the snack bar doing nothing. My favorite one? The night they closed part of the hill due to "low staff," and when one person told me there was a whole room of managers behind the scenes, I checked in with one of those managers who confirmed, "yeah our managers aren't going to step into hill operations. That's not our job." So be prepared for anything ... you get what you get, and they won't go out of their way to make it any better for you. read more

I went up to Northern Minnesota for the weekend with my boyfriend to go snow-tubing. Well the weekend we choose was apparently not a good one because most resorts were closed because the wind chill was about -13. We were bummed that we made the trip and wouldn't be able to snow-tube until we found Mont Du Lac was still open! There was only one other group snow-tubing and they were not out there for long after we started. We felt bad that the guys were basically only coming out of their warming huts for us but they were really nice about it! They were super friendly, make great conversation, and recommendations too! My boyfriend had a few bad runs because the tubes he choose were broken, they have those sitting with the good tubes for some reason. But the workers were helpful and noticed his bad runs so they told him to get a new tube. After about an hour of tubing we defrosted with some Spotted Cow. They had a nice fire going and couches by a window where you could see the skiers. We had such a good time for our first snow-tubing experience, we plan to come back in the future! read more

Bought a summer pass for mountain biking and I've not been able to use it because the lifts are always closed . It's Sunday August 21st at 1:45pm. They tell you they're open for lift access from noon till 4pm. Don't waste your time or money, go to a different resort for mountain biking. read more

Came here to the restaurant on July 4th with some family for dinner at the trophy lodge. What a disappointment. And an expensive one. It's like nobody in the front of the house has been trained at all and the food was way below par. Four of us ordered the steak medallions. That came with smoked blue cheese sauce. Not one of us had any sauce on our plate. When we asked they gave us blue cheese dressing that didn't even have blue cheese crumbles in it. Also it was very runny. One of the plates was so cold that it had to be sent back. And two of the stakes were overcooked. Also it says on the menu they are marinated. They had no flavor at all. And the servers. Wow. I almost feel bad for them because they had no idea what they were doing and that's not really their fault. Who's managing this place? I didn't seem there was anybody. We had to ask multiple times to get waters. No one was clearing our tables. We had a drink spill on a table and they didn't offer to help clean it up or get a napkins. We had to track them down to get our check at the end of the night. They had no idea which food went to which seat. They never came back after the first round of drinks to see if anybody wanted any more until the very end of the meal. It's too bad because the view and the Ambiance of this restaurant is awesome but due to service and food being way below what it should be we won't be back. I got to throw in that there was a kid's game basketball game right in the middle of the dining room. Why the hell was that in there? It's like nobody gave a shit. We were all very disappointed. And that's 12 people that won't be coming back with friends. read more

This place was very well assembled and staffed at the minimum from what I experienced. Tubing was great but needs more of a safety passage or contingent because, waivers is the easiest way out but not always the best explained when a unique incident happens. The trophy lodge was packed and staffed with two bar tenders that was also serving large tables; orders was disarray or wrong. The food was well cooked and had flavor. this place was an absolute nightmare. If it was summer time, I would have a different opinion. The reason I am saying this is because their bathrooms are extremely hard to get to from the cabins we were staying in. there is no walking path to get to the bathrooms and they are on top of a large hill. Nothing was shuffled, and you had to walk through 3 feet of snow the top of the hill if you wanted to use the bathroom or shower. On the alternative you could walk up the road, but regardless of that, you still had to walk through a very large amount of snow. Otherwise, the bathrooms are my only complaint aside from not having any curtains for privacy. Overall, the bathrooms were very clean and the cabin was very nice. read more

As far as stuff to do it has that. The problem is with their honesty. We got back after a one-night stay and 8 days later they charged an extra $100 to my credit card for a damage deposit. We barely stayed there. No cooking. No drinking. We left early not late. We didn't damage anything we just slept there that's it. Bottled beverages no food in the cabin. I'm not at all happy with them at this point. If we had done something to deserve it that would be one thing but it's a damage deposit and we did no damage. Even in terms of the condition, we left it in it was barely touched. I'd be kind of cautious about trusting them with a rental. You can buy a day pass for their activities but I'd suggest thinking twice about staying there. A week later they may charge you an extra $100 on their "damage deposit". Don't mistake the good reviews for the tubing and such for their cabin rentals. read more

horrible experience, over priced and employees are unprofessional. stayed in august, rented a cabin. tap water smelt like sewage. weird swimming hours, under staffed. I paid in full prior to my stay, I get a call on November 65 days after my stay. Rep (April) said an accounting issue an i stilled owe money, checked my records and I paid in full, I provided dates and email receipts of payments cleared. rep April said she would look into it and call me back. next morning without my consent they debited my card for $377.44. I called and April said it wasn't supposed to pull and claims someone in accounting processed the payment. they won't return my calls. Very disappointed , will never stay again read more

This is a great place for beginners, but if you are a serious rider I wouldn't recommend planning to spend a day here. It's a nice little place and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I got bored skiing so I switched to snowboarding (which was no hassle at all) It was only my second time snowboarding and I was going up and down the hill no problem by the end of the day. read more

I frequent the disc golf courses and they're amazing! It's got a little something for every kind of player...but bring them hiking boots... Cause its a hike too! The course designer was very helpful and knowledgeable of the sport. The customer service has gone down the drain over the last summer. They use to be very welcoming and friendly but this year there seems to be a chip on the shoulder of the management walking around. The guys running the bar have always been on the ball though. I definitely recommend checking out the courses/tournaments at mount du lac. You won't be let down (other than the less then great vibe from the management). read more

I gave Mont Du Lac 4 stars because it's a great place for beginners to ski/snowboard. They offer GREAT options for lessons, and the instructors have been awesome! The problem is it's small as far as options for hills.. There is really only 2 hills.. The prices are a bit high for only two hills to utilize. I have found deals online for tickets that make it a little more reasonable, without the deals, I don't think we would go there as often. I was there recently and they say they are open until 6pm but the last few times I was there they shut the kitchen down at 5 and the lift at 5:45.. The staff was basically cleaning around us before 6pm.. I felt very rushed to get out of there. My son has taken lessons there, so I often wait for him and they have a few staff that have no problem using foul language.. I disregarded it in the bar area because its a bar, but then they moved into the main Chalet and were throwing F bombs around. I would consider Mont Du Lac a family friendly place, but this employee apparently does not. All in all I would say it's a great place to ski/snowboard, small but enjoyable, with exception to a few issues. read more
