    Bedroom with exposed stone

We wanted somewhere special to stay on our one year wedding anniversary and my husband landed on Fitger's Inn. Despite coming to Duluth my entire life, I've never stayed here. Walking in, it is BEAUTIFUL. Truly an old hotel, the woodwork is gorgeous and there is a tiled skylight that overlooks the lobby. The room we booked was a city side room, but was HUGE. It was right by the elevator, but we didn't find that to be a problem as the only place you could hear it was right inside the door. We loved the exposed stone in the bedroom! Due to the hotel being a older, the AC is not super cold, not a huge deal to us just something to note :) The front desk sent up a bottle of champagne while we were out, which was very nice. We loved that it was close to multiple restaurants and shops. I am very happy we chose to spend our first anniversary here and would definitely stay again!

We had a really nice time staying at Fitger's on our most recent visit to Duluth. We'd been to the building before to visit the brewery and the shops but never stayed in the hotel. The front desk staff were friendly and attentive. They were very helpful throughout our stay. They surprised us upon checkin with some coupons to use in the restaurants/stores in the attached building, which was nice. You certainly can't beat the location and the view is beautiful. We took a walk outside and on the little walking path that runs along the lake, which you should totally do if you stay here! The room was on the small side, but that's what you get in an older hotel. We were on the "first" floor, which is really floor 2, and our room had these kind of odd steel beams running along the ceiling in some places. But that's just an architectural note -- the beams didn't bother us or get in the way. On the plus side, the room had a huge closet for a hotel room, the bathroom was good and the bed was comfy. Bonus points for the cool ipod dock that you could use to charge your ipod and play music in the room. The water pressure in the shower was amazing, but the tub didn't drain very well (I mentioned to the desk staff on our way out and they promised to look at it and thanked me for telling them.) The continental breakfast was nothing to write home about, but it did the job. The coffee was good (mega bonus for having decent coffee). There were bagels, donuts, yogurt, fruit, etc. Juice, water, tea, etc. and that was about it. I had a bagel, which was fine and a couple of cups of coffee. The concierge/valet was great, and overall we were really pleased (free valet parking for hotel guests). We took a city-side room (not lake side) to save money and were still really pleased with everything, including the price. We would definitely come back again.

Amazing Fitger's Inn Hotel....! It can be cold outside, but the hotel personnel make it very warm and cozy for all visitors....!!!

If you want a Historical, special and romantic place, this is it....!!! Hotel personnel make it even greatest...!!!

This past week I had the pleasure to stay at Fitgers Inn Duluth's historic lakeside hotel. It's old school decadence, charmed and history mix well with comfort, luxury and excellent service. The hotel located in the Fitgers complex could be a retreat in and of itself. The complex has everything from bars, breweries, shop, and restaurants, to a salon and some of the best views of Duluth harbor and the Lift Bridge. Rates are reasonable. The service is next level, from the doorman, valet, front desk, wait staff, and housekeeping all are professional, and ready and willing to serve. I would recommend for those seeking a true Duluth visit. Located close to the highway getting to any of the other sites, parks, and destinations on the north shore is a breeze. And can we talk about comfort, the beds are a bit of Nirvana especially after a long day of sightseeing and adventures. You sink right in and don't want to leave. Picky about your pillows? They offer a pillow bar for your dreaming needs. Finally don't want to leave Fido home - take him with as they are dog friendly. Next north shore trip considering staying at Fitgers

The complimentary cheesecake that arrived - per my review. It was so rich and amazing.

Impeccable service If you were to look at my average ratings, you would notice that I don't exactly hand 5-star ratings out like candy. Fitger's Inn went above and beyond during me and my partner's recent New Year's Eve stay. Echoing what others have said, the customer service here is outstanding. From the minute we arrived for check-in until our 5am check-out, every single person with whom we interacted, from the valet to room service was an absolute paragon of good service. My first impression was that of a classy, stately, old-fashioned inn with lots of dark, substantial furniture and furnishing. Check-in was painless and I was pleased with the value of our Lakeside Deluxe Queen - $152 (prepaid). Since we got some coupons to the hotel restaurant and were feeling lazy, we ordered room service which was incredibly delicious and was very timely. When the food arrived, my partner immediately noticed that the cheesecake we had ordered was not there. I called room service to inquire, and they stated that somehow it had somehow been missed, but that we were not charged for it. I said ok, and hung-up. Not five minutes later, in the midst of tucking into the delicious Reuben sliders, we heard a knock at the door. Our room service hostess was back with a complimentary slice of cheesecake and profuse apologies over the mix-up (like you need any when you show up with delicious cheesecake!). The total for our meal (with the $20 coupons) came to under $30, which was a great value. True, the room decor is a bit dated, but clean never goes out of style. Our room was quiet, the bed was soft, and I appreciated the Aveda toiletries - even the soap was an almost full-size bar, none of that dinky chip of soap like most places. This is a bar of soap worth saving and using for the next month. We had to check-out early the next morning, and the complimentary continental breakfast offered a wide variety of breakfast foods and snacks and was definitely better than average. Check-out was just as painless as check-in and I was happy to be able to print-out my flight tickets at the computer conveniently located in the lobby. There are so few places that offer true hospitality, and Fitger's Inn far exceeded my expectations and was an amazing value for the money. I strongly recommend this hotel, it is well worth your time and money.

Great hotel on the shore of Lake Superior. I've stayed here twice now on business and have been impressed both times. The first stay I had a view of the lake from my 3rd floor room. The second stay I had a view of the city from my 4th floor room. The rooms are very neat and tidy. I had a king-size bed both times. They have tv with full cable, a desk and free high-speed Internet (wired and wireless). It's quaint that they give you an actual key to open the door, not a magnetic key card like most modern hotels do today. The service is great, the staff is friendly, the fitness room (on the 1st floor) has free weights, treadmills and step machines. Plus there is a "mall" attached to the hotel with 3 restaurants and some shops. A parking garage is located right next to the hotel. A walking path is steps away from the hotel and lets you exercise next to the lake.

I just returned from my first visit to Duluth. The Fitger's Inn is a spectacular place to stay. The facility is very well maintained and the views are breathtaking. If you are a beer enthusiast, I would place Fitger's Inn at the top of your list if you are visiting the area. The rooms were large clean and comfortable the the expected panache of a high-end hotel room. We were particularly impressed with the "pillow menu" that allowed you to select pillows of differing support for your stay We stayed on the lakeside and thoroughly enjoyed watching the enormous ore-frighters arrive in Duluth Harbor. Wifi was ubiquitous throughout the complex, albeit slow at times. Fitger's strength is the large number of services, shops and restaurant entertainment immediately located in the scenic lakefront complex. I particularly enjoyed the proximity to a large variety of craft beers produced on-site. There was some confusion about the pricing about the room at check-out time and we ended up spending a almost $700 on two-night stay that exceeds what I have spent in upscale hotels in much larger cities. It was highly enjoyable but in departing nothing beyond the view during our stay wowed us to the point where we thought it was worth the expense. Fitger's Inn gets a strong thumbs up, but I would say that Fitger's is destination hotel for those who are looking for something memorable and unique. I am glad I had the opportunity to stay at this historic hotel, and look forward to telling people about it but if I ever return to Duluth I could find similar accommodations nearby at a much more reasonable price.

    Gorgeous view!

Beautifully set along the boardwalk and canal park commercial area, this location is perfect for Duluth visitors! The hotel and room was very clean but just was from a past era. I wouldn't say the bed was super comfy but it was adequate and the room was pretty quiet. Bathroom was spacious and uniquely designed. Elevator was super slow but stairs are easily accessible. Breakfast was the average marginal Hampton breakfast but served in a very nice windowed room with views of the water. I am a Hilton Honors Diamond member and received a complimentary room upgrade- room with view of the water. This was an appreciated perk but otherwise the front desk did not acknowledge my status even when checking in.

Our stay was Sunday night Nov 23 for the Bentlyville Tour of Lights event. Initially we had…read morereserved a Queen Lakeview, but took advantage of a website offered upgrade to a King 1 Bedroom Suite (although that's not how it was labeled) with a Whirlpool (jetted tub) for an extra $40. The room labels for the upgrades to bid on did not match the labels of the rooms on the Hilton Canal Park webpage, but Michelle was very helpful in email correspondence in decoding the rooms being offered and the process of bidding on upgrades and the obligations involved. The King Suites are normally $100 more than the Queen Lakeviews for a Sunday. Oddly a Queen Partial View was also offered for bids at $80 more than our Queen Lakeview, although it would have been a downgrade. Construction was going on, which we were warned about on our stay last year. There was the expected smell of paint, commotion, and compromises on amenities because of this. You are paying a premium for the Canal Park location with this property, the event was a fifteen minute walk. Beautiful Lake Superior was about a hundred yards away across a service road, and we pretty much had the shoreline there to ourselves early Monday morning. The third floor room was clean, quiet, and adequately stocked which was expected for the price. They accommodated us with a rollaway bed for my girlfriend's daughter, though not right away. According to Business Travel News this property was built back in 1997 and last renovated 2013. It's definitely showing its age. There were several issues that likely won't be fixed with the current renovation, like dated slow elevators, which according to other reviewers has abruptly dropped with their groups inside. They have electronic checkin with the app, which is a big reason I stay with this chain, but the app didn't control the TV or the heating/cooling control, which their promo material advertises it to. I was told this was not going change with the renovation. The shower door wouldn't close all the way, so you had to be careful about water on the floor. Also when my girlfriend tried the jetted tub the hose leaked and sprayed water everywhere. The tiny laundry room had no washers (hopefully temporary with the renovation). The tiny workout room had just three of pieces of decades old equipment, a stairmaster, bike, and treadmill. It just fit me and her daughter, we had a couple people peek in and then leave while we were in there. The pool was nice. The breakfast, not in the normal dining area because of the construction, was typical generic fare to feed a lot of people cheaply despite TV promos showing a bagel shop bagel and sliced fresh fruit. I've yet to see either of these at any Hilton property. There wasn't much for snacks, you were mainly at the mercy of machines that ripped you off. I was overcharged several dollars for a bottle of Pepsi, which the evening desk person said he couldn't do anything about, but was refunded in cash the next morning by the day desk. When it happened the evening desk person mentioned the machine had outright stolen money from others without even giving drinks. When asked about the free water for 'Silver' membership, the only tangible benefit that level gets you, the evening desk girl pointed to a basket with some tiny bottles of warm Glacier Mint to apparently serve myself. This water perk is clearly just a token thing, but other Hiltons make more of an effort. The Hampton Duluth North gave us a couple of chilled large Aquafina's in a Hilton paper bag. We've stuck with the Hilton umbrella this last couple years after some bad experiences with Wyndham's, although the Hilton options for Duluth are fairly limited. A ten minute Uber ride away is the Hampton & Suites Duluth North/Mall Area, built in 2017, for two thirds the price of this one on any given night. We stayed there for the Haunted Ship event a month earlier, and 20 years newer does make a difference not to mention a more motivated staff. There are also countless other downtown Duluth hotels from competing chains and independents, like the new boutique property Force On Fifth, that likely would offer a comparable or better experience for less money. If you have to have a downtown Duluth Hilton and are willing to spend $200-$400 a night on a room depending on the day of the week, this property will just do.

I said, I would like them to honor my request, I was then told they couldn't do that and if I had a request like that I should have called the actual property and not Marriot. I did call the property and offered to show her the number in my phone. I was then told, whoever I talked to gave me incorrect information and shouldn't have said I would be able to have that room. At this point the other desk person stopped helping her customer and decided to stick her nose in and said "be sure to have her sign the pet waiver and additional cleaning fee agreement", what? First, if you know anything about service recovery Orr customer service you know that one person talks and helps the customer, her butting in was not helpful. Second, you guaranteed me something you didn't have and then acted like it's my fault but be sure and try to get me to sign a waiver and charge me extra for cleaning the room. Nope. This was a horrible experience with snarky people, I don't recommend and never stay there again.

Pier B After a couple of years, I returned to Pier B. I was…read morereally surprised by the changes--all positive ones. Great service and a truly warm welcome. The rooms still need a little work when it comes to the sofa beds. I really appreciate that there's a floor dedicated to my dog friends; I don't have one myself, but they're my friends anyway. Just one comment about the bathroom sink: the drain was completely clogged--as if it hadn't been cleared for months--and it was disgusting. Luckily, Kelly was kind enough to take care of the situation right away. See you next year.

We booked this hotel specifically because of it being labeled as dog friendly, and made a…read morereservation for the patio specifying that we had a dog. We arrived to find out that while our dog was allowed in the room, the restaurant doesn't allow dogs on their patio and dogs are limited to the room and pottying outside. So I wouldn't label this hotel as dog friendly, it's dog tolerant. The housekeeping service is sporadic and mentions only basic housekeeping on the third night. The shower only had a half glass enclosure, with a sliding door to the bathroom that would then slide over the closet if someone opened the bathroom door. The water pressure was only decent if water was scalding hot, and the shampoo and body wash had the effect of hand sanitizer (so bring your own). The air conditioner would turn off every 5 minutes during the night and the fan would then start up very loud. The view from the back side of the hotel was nice and they have a nice outside patio, but we didn't enjoy it due to the limits of having our puppy with us. We spent alot of our time at Fitgers, spending our dining dollars there as they are very pet friendly. Overall, if you want a pet friendly hotel, pick another. For the money, even without the pet limitations, there are better hotels in Canal Park.
