Raining evening of event. Stairs were wet. No umbrellas were available. Bathrooms were not adequately makes. Staff was unhelpful.

Great breakfast food a myriad of selections. Good coffee. Sterling and friendly service. We are staying at the hotel during a two day museum and play visit to the City. The Lounge is a notch above what one typically sees at a hotel and way better than any airline lounge. This review is for the M Club which is an executive Lounge in the Marriott Marquis in Manhattan. Not sure why yelp changed the name . I noticed the change and am editing my review. I normally would not review such a place but this one stood out and I thought it might assist other yelpers. Do you pay crazy New York City rent, but really feel you're missing out on the character-building experience of dealing with a petty suburban HoA? Just join the Montauk Club, and you can have the worst of both worlds! My original 5 star review was when I joined the club to get married there. The GM at the time was Larry, who was very friendly and low key and provided a strong buffer to the board - something I didn't realize was absolutely crucial until I dealt with the board myself years later. I love the building and it's obviously very sentimental to me, but I finally had to throw in the towel because the Montauk Club was actively a net negative on my life. I met great people there who also reluctantly quit for the same reasons. I'm sure the board is bemoaning the loss of membership, all the while actively chasing people away with their monumental disrespect, control issues, and overall ineptitude. They will lure you in with promises of how you can use the space and amenities - throw parties and host events, the members are co-owners and the space is yours! This is a LIE. You'll have to jump through hoops to get nearly anything 'approved' by the board, who will dangle the approval over your head for literally months while collecting your membership fees. Even if something IS approved and you invest time and money into it based on that approval, they often decide to renege at the last minute. Their word means nothing. They'll take your money and your time (I've seen so many people get sucked into 'helping' the club, both financially and in goods and professional services they donate in good faith) and do absolutely nothing with it. Don't fall for it! DO NOT DO OR GIVE ANYTHING OTHER THAN PAYING YOUR MINIMUM MEMBERSHIP DUES (and tips for staff at Christmas, obviously). Do not expect anything outside of the most basic use of the amenities, regardless of what anyone tells you. If you love historic buildings and the anachronism of belonging to a private club, and you live conveniently nearby, then it is fun to sit on the balcony with a beer in the warmer months. I do really miss the place. But heed my warning and DO NOT let yourself get involved beyond that. DO NOT join with the expectation that you can make use of the club in any way that is a little bit outside of the box (ie, bringing friends to drink on your tab). They will absolutely take you for a ride. read more

This is really a two and a half star review. C'mon Yelp, there is a WORLD of difference between "Meh. I've experienced better," and "A-OK." I suggest removing the "A" and then everything would be fine. Or, "A-tad bit better than mediocre," although that doesn't have such a nice ring to it. I digress! I really REALLY want to like this place more than I do. My MAIN problem isn't anything other than the bar service which I feel is severely lacking. They need to hire what I and many other hard drinkin' New Yorkers like to call "competant bartenders." That means, a bartender that actually SEEMS like they give a shit, you know, MOVE kind of quickly when it's New Year's Eve and the bar is 5-people deep, due to the event (Dances of Vice, which warrants a SOLID FIVE STARS) selling out 250 tickets. WHY, pray tell, would you only put TWO bartenders on, if you knew the event was sold out and HELLO, IT'S NEW YEAR'S EVE!!! Put on your best bartenders not some slack, sloppy looking dude who knew only two speeds, slow and slower!! Other than that, and the fact that the upstairs lounge has NO music to speak of (I'm not asking for blasting music out of a PA, but some kind of background music so I'm not listening to hundreds of people yapping the night away), the Montauk Club is grand--beautifully appointed and I like the old school "private club" vibe of it. I feel like a fucking Fitzgerald in there, yo! On NYE, they served hors d'oevres, which was a nice touch. We even hung out in the kitchen with some of the really nice staff. The ambience is overall perfect for retro events like Dances of Vice, which is the only reason I have to go there as I am not a member. Although being a member DOES sound kinda cool. IF they fix the bar situation!! OH!! And no, I do NOT want my 10 dollar martini served in a plastic cup. Actually, I have had past bartenders refuse to serve them UP. I will NOT drink a martini on the rocks, so this is an insult to my good taste. read more

I came here for a really lovely wedding. This space has so much character and is in a beautiful part of Brooklyn. Having the wedding ceremony with the backdrop of beautiful windows was really lovely. The staff were really professional and quick to move chairs around and booze and feed us between the ceremony and the dinner. This is a very unique spot in NYC to have a large event and is definitely worth checking out! read more

Let's be clear, the building is. Historical building it is old but membership is affordable so if you want a modern club or a completely restored building, go pay $10,000 a year for a manhattan club you're not the right person for this place. The food is fantastic generally now like every restaurant have I had one dish that wasn't perfect, yes, but across the board we eat here at least once a month if not More and it's wonderful. I love the quiet dinning experience and in fact that's what I pay for so to address the concerns of some reviews, you have to come to club events to really meet other members. The hours are minimal, but again it depends on what you're looking for in a club this place is just perfect if one Friday night you want a quiet place to eat a delicious meal and have a few drinks without screaming over music or paying a fortune. Was considering this as a wedding venue at one point. Had a couple of email correspondences with the manager, then nothing. A couple of pleasant voice mail messages also left unanswered. What IS the deal with this place? Apparently they get a lot of bookings, but who knows where that money goes? Crumbling stairs, dingy rugs, stained sofas, dying plants. Geesh. In its hey-day, this was THE place to be. And until just recently, it was an inexpensive country club with style and grace. Unfortunately, management changed and not for the better. Raised membership fees, no refunds, a minimum monthly charge, astronomical venue prices, errors in bookeeping, rude management (and some staff members upstairs) and the interior upkeep and/or renovation is non-existent. Although we are current members, we have had nothing but trouble since joining and will not be renewing our membership nor can we recommend this club to anyone. read more

Very very sad to update my review, and it's a good lesson not to review things too quickly.... A year has passed, and I am no longer a member of the Montauk club, for various reasons, which I think need to be detailed. 1) The Food. It's not good. And worse than being bad, the chef appears to be completely against any changes to his menu. One time I asked for no asparagus in my salad, and the waitress said that he wouldn't do it, that it had to have it in it, the chef only served things "as is." This also prevented me from ever getting the burger, which pretty much ALWAYS had bacon on it. 2) Hours of Operation. When I signed up, they said the club is open until 11 pm each night. This is simply not true. On at least 3 occasions I arrived around 10:15 to find the door locked. And even more annoying, I learned that if i knocked, eventually someone would open the door, and there WERE people upstairs, but they were just clearly trying to close the place down. 3) Lack of Life. Just like they try to close the place early, it deters people from coming in, and often it was just me and the friends that i invited. It's really hard to make new friends at the club because people never come. This place has SO MUCH POTENTIAL, but it hurts itself at every turn. It's beautiful to be sure but beauty is not enough. Though you need to be a member of the club to eat here, you can easily find someone who is a member and tag-along with them. The interior is a rather worn turn-of-the-century country club style with rich wood paneling, large pocket doors, not-quite-vintage artwork, and detailed mosaic floors on the first level. The paint is peeling, the rugs are nearly threadbare, and the beams in the ceilings are sagging: it's in dire need of a restoration. The food service ranges from excellent to mediocre. The burger is great, but most everything else is either served cold (when it should be warm to hot) or burned to a crisp. At brunch, I had french toast, a friend had a frittata, and another had an omelet: the toast and frittata were like crackers thanks to the overcooking and the omelet was served white-hot (though, remarkably, not burnt). The mimosas and bloody marys are complimentary, but also served in the smallest glasses you've ever seen (yes, smaller than juice glasses). Though I can't vouch for every time, service was very slow due, largely, to the sole waiter on duty. read more

The wedding is done but not forgotten, and the folks at Montauk Club helped us pull off an unforgettable evening. We had our ceremony and reception here and I could not have imagined a more beautiful event and more fun dance party. They rolled with all my whims over details (one vegan entree please! pre-ceremony champagne cocktails please! could we meet just one more time please?) We went with buffet and full open bar, seared tuna, sirloin, roast potatoes and asparagus. As the nervous/excited bride I could barely taste the food but our guests assured us it was delicious and they were not expecting such quality from wedding food. Yes, there was enough for everyone. They don't serve dessert, which worked out great because our friends got us the wedding cupcakes as a gift. And you need to provide your own champagne/prosecco or whatever bubbly you prefer. There are no surprise fees here that are typical of so many wedding venues. This, also means, though, that if you want to cut your cake you better remember to bring a knife to do it and if you want pre-ceremony cocktails poured you probably need to ask some friends to help do that, too. Thanks to our kickass DJ and spirited guests, the dance floor was so hopping at one point that it was shaking from people jumping up and down to Journey or whatever it was. No matter, the floor was fine. A note here: our wedding was in April, an overcast but not rainy day, and with more than 50 people shaking it, the dance floor got very warm. We asked to open some windows, which they did, but I was still very happy that our wedding was not in the middle of the summer. I didn't have a professional wedding planner, just some great friends, we did our own flowers and in general tried to say as close to a budget wedding as possible. The Montauk club is so pretty inside that a few (ok, 200) candles and simple flowers in glass jars were all we needed for decoration. The club's manager was great to work with -- but not as quick to respond to emails as I am used to. Probably best to schedule meetings instead and go over everything rather than go back and forth on email. All in all, I highly recommend this as a wedding venue for low-maintenance, chill couples who want a beautiful vintage space in Brooklyn on a moderate budget. For rich bridezilla types who need everything done professionally, probably not the best option. (I do wish the club was open to the public, though. We canceled our membership after a year but I would love to go back occasionally.) read more

We just became members so we could get married there next summer. We had dinner there for the first time tonight, and everything was fantastic, from the service to the food to the relaxed atmosphere. Really, really enjoyed it. We've also had a great experience so far with the club manager. She has been totally available and knowledgeable. I've been a member of the Montauk club for three months thus far and am really happy I joined. The Montauk Club is a wonderful step out of the hustle and bustle of New York City and a wonderful step back in time. The club is what you make it - I try to go once every few weeks with a friend (I've already had one join) to shoot some pool, and have dinner and drinks. It's easy to meet people there because you automatically have something in common - you're a member of the same club. I've found everyone to be approachable and friendly - this place isn't pretentious at all which one of my concerns was when I first went to check it out. The club seems to be continuing a successful gentrification - I'm 28 and always notice that there are plenty of people close to my age. The food is great; the chef takes a lot of pride in what he serves. The staff is also friendly and jovial. The facility does needs minor restoration here and there but that's to be expected for such an old building. The dues are extremely reasonable especially for my demographic (under 35 and not residing or working in Park Slope.) I'm really looking forward to hanging out at the club during the beautiful weather. read more

A friend of mine is the executive chef at The Montauk Club and a few of my friends bought memberships to celebrate. We had dinner at the club last Friday night and I was pleasantly surprised at the turnout. For a club whose previous claim to fame was a menu filled with mozzarella sticks and frozen tacos, my friend has certainly turned things around. We had a table of 5 and we tried to order everything. For appetizers we got a green salad, beet salad, wild mushrooms, and apple soup, our friend sent out a pickled radish small plate with candied orange peels which was really crunchy and delicious. For our main courses, we had a range of shrimp in a carrot reduction, pork belly, salmon cooked wonderfully, and a chicken poulard. All were great and satisfying. We were surprised with one more small plate of salmon belly in squid with two reductions, one lemon and one herb and an eggs terrine with fresh wild mushrooms. If you're a Park Slope-ian, I'd suggest trying to scoop up a membership to this fancy supper club. It's a beautiful building and now has the promise of excellent food all the time! read more

Last night my salmon was delicious, and the cocktail of the week was The Cardinal...yummy and appropriate. It is a fabulous old building...and the fact that it has not been renovated is a plus in my book. It is best for people looking for a relaxed, homey environment instead of a bar or restaurant. I've now been a member of the Montauk Club for nearly three years and it's time to update my review. Five stars all the way. If you are the type of person who loves beautiful architecture, especially if it is historical and yet worn from continuous use as a living structure, you will love the Montauk Club. I've talked to so many members who joined simply because they loved the building itself, and once they joined they stayed members because they fell in love with the food, the staff, the atmosphere, and the other members. The Montauk Club was and remains a throwback. You must have a sense of nostalgia for the past -- even if you are too young actually to remember it -- to enjoy this place. You must be a person who likes private clubs, and not all do. But if you are one of those people, you will fall in love with this oasis away from the 21st Century. I note that some of the reviews have criticized the food, which was a fair critique a year or so back. Since that time, a new chef has come on board and the food has really improved. The menu changes every week, with the exception of the exceptional burger, and I have to say that it's hard to find a steak as good as the one here at this price point. The generous and delicious Sunday brunch is a terrific way to start the week. The food, in a word, is excellent now. Billing issues have also been resolved since the club finally adopted a computerized point of service system. read more

There seem to be several reviewers here who have shared the same tab of LSD: JBird, for instance. The Montauk Club, fashioned in 1891 after a Venetian palazzo by one of the preeminent architects of the day, Francis Kimbell, is a social club with dining room that also hosts weddings and other events. Doubtless some of these produce refuse, as would any comparable hall or restaurant. However, I've lived in the neighborhood for some 27 years and have never been inconvenienced or offended by the Montauk Club's garbage pickups. During most of this time I've come and gone on an almost daily basis from the Grand Army Plaza subway station, which is only a few doors down from the rear of the Club (which is bounded on that side by a lot not owned by the Montauk Club and for whose upkeep it bears no responsibility). The Club itself, a Landmarked Victorian wonder, does show some interior wear and tear; but this only renders it cozier, like your favorite pair of slippers. If your slippers had stained glass, original wall friezes and exquisite terra cotta detailing preserved from another age and likely never to be reproduced again. Nor is it stuffy, having in recent years welcomed a growing under-35 membership. New management and an excellent chef have rectified most of the concerns expressed by other reviewers; and it's a bargain at the price. So JBird, step carefully and hold your nose if you must: methinks you protest too loudly and that it's not the Montauk Club you're smelling. read more

We totally lucked out when we decided to have our wedding reception at the Montauk Club. Sanya was at most times very responsive, helpful and supportive of our ideas. I got a little bit worried a couple of days before our wedding in October 2013 when I started reading reviews that I hadn't seen before. We live in California so we hadn't been able to communicate with Sanya by other means than email. It turned out all of those reviews seem really unfounded and outdated. From the moment our deliveries started arriving the afternoon before the wedding until we picked up our stuff the day after the wedding, everything worked out beyond our expectations. The atmosphere was just right, the details were all taken care of, the food and drinks were fantastic, and the staff were all so amazing and happy for us. Best night of our lives. I attended a company dinner here. What i noticed most is the smell when you walk into this old building. It's like a wet rag and it was pretty potent. The only thing that made it go away was lots and lots of alcohol. Everything inside looked very dated and it was cold (despite the "heat" being on). The food was edible; nothing special. This space is absolutely beautiful. It's not some tacky, paisley lined gold lame'd "wedding hall" out in the suburbs. We chose it for it's innate beauty - both inside and out. After we settled on the Montauk Club, we went about choosing the church and vendors. It was the only place I could envision having a reception that wouldn't feel like some overly consumerized event. When I bought my dress, I thought, "it'll look perfect against those stained glass windows and dark wood accents." I don't believe in wedding themes (because afterall, this isn't some grown-up second attempt at prom) but our wedding is taking on the style of the Club and I couldn't be happier. Sanya was very easy to work with when booking the space and even though we went back and forth for a few weeks (some anxiety about making a final decision and putting a deposit down), never once pressured us or gave us any grief - no hard sell. She was married there and even offered some suggestions on how her wedding could have gone better (seating choices, etc). Kind of like "had I known then what I know now..." thing, which I appreciated. The Club loses a point because of how they handled the scaffolding issues. There was a clear breakdown of communication and we were disappointed in how we were treated (nothing was really communicated until after the fact). So I went on the offensive. I emailed Sanya, asking all of the questions we had. Telling her how disappointed we were. Explaining how I expected her team would treat me moving forward. Simply put, we were pissed but after all of the venues we'd looked at, I still wanted to make our reception happen at the Montauk Club. Sanya never once got frustrated with me. She was never defensive. She apologized. She explained why the breakdown occurred. And we were able to get all of the answers we needed in order to move forward with planning our reception, feeling much more confident. The big day is in three months (eish!) but I'll be sure to update my review once the wedding happens. Overall, I'd recommend the Montauk Club but I would also tell brides that being a little more on the offensive will likely get better results....it's a social club AND a wedding venue with a small staff (that really gets to know you). Added bonus? We also get to use the space for drinking outdoors now that spring/summer has finally arrived :) read more

I've been a member here for a year now and I love it. The staff is super nice and helpful and the space-oh god, the space! It's massive and usually not overcrowded. I like coming here because it's quiet, the food is pretty tasty, they don't give you side-eye when you order a second bottle of wine, the chairs are uber comfy, and I have NEVER EVER felt rushed out of the place- which is kind of rare for NYC. Lots of long, great conversations with friends with no need to rush out of there to clear up the table. They have a lot of member events throughout the month and change the menu weekly. It's definitely worth it to join. read more

Went to a wedding at the Montauk Club last week and what a bad experience. The staff kept interrupting the ceremony by walking in the room. We also needed to move some flowers around because one of the guest was highly allergic and we got an attitude about that. Also they made the bride pay full price to get the piano tuned which she wanted them to meet her half way since they were going to use the piano for other events. They said no. So she walks in the friday before the wedding to go over the last details of the wedding and to her surprise they were holding a dinner and they had someone come in and play the piano she just paid full price to tune. This next part literally is the icing on the cake....they threw out her wedding cake. She specifically asked to not throw away the cake because she was mailing out to family and friends that could not make it. So she had to cut into the top tier of her cake because this place had no consideration for her. THE CAKE COST MORE THAN HER DRESS. DON'T GET MARRIED THERE. ITS A FANCY PLACE WITH A GHETTO STAFF. read more

I recently got married at the Montauk Club and I would not recommend it to couples looking for a hassel free venue. At first glance this space seems very affordable, but beware they will nickel and dime you over everything. We were not only asked to provide platters for the chocolate covered strawberries that we paid the club extra for, but they wouldn't even split the cost with us to have their piano tuned. Dealing with the management, particularly Sanya, was such a hassle. Emails were rarely answered in a timely fashion and when they were our questions weren't fully answered. We didn't find out until the night before, when we inquired on our own, that Sanya wouldn't be present at the club the day of our wedding, which caused quite a few things to go awry on the day of the wedding since she was our only point of contact throughout the planning process. One of the biggest problems seems to be a lack in communication between management, the staff, and the people that live on the top two floors of the building. We arrived at the venue to discover that there was a stoop sale happening right outside the venue. My husband spoke with the people and they were more than happy to remove their things, but told us the venue never tells them when they are having weddings. Also, the staff at the club was walking through the back of the room during our ceremony and causing a bit of a disturbance. The thing that upset me the most was that I has asked repeatedly if a few slices of cake could be set aside when it was being cut so I could mail them to my best friend that couldn't make it to the wedding. I was told every time that the club could do this for me no problem and they would even provide the airtight containers. When I went to pick up my remaining cake the day after the wedding, it wasn't there. After a series of emails with Sanya, I was left with no apology and I was told that it was my fault for not following up with them the night of the wedding. Its no surprise the club is broke with the way they treat people who rent their space. In all honesty, it is such a shame. It's a beautiful, historic venue, in a great location, but it will never become a great wedding venue until there is a complete restructure of their management and the way they do business. read more

As a social club, it's a lovely place. As a wedding venue, they could not care less about your business. Don't do it. The club is beautiful, historic, and in a perfect location, that's why we chose to get married there in the first place. But after realizing that Sanya, the event manager, is difficult to reach, we knew it would be a very DIY operation as far as getting everything organized, which we were also fine with. And then a few months before our wedding, we got an email from Sanya saying that the club is now under scaffolding, and implied that it would be for the duration of the summer. Surprise! We were never once made aware that was even a possibility, and when we called, they explained that we were expected to just live with it, no big deal. It's not just that they sprung this on us with almost no notice before our wedding, but also the fact that they were completely unsympathetic when we presented our concerns of not being able to take photos outside or, you know, see the exterior of the building at all, was a shock. If you Google "Montauk Club," 95% of the photos that come up are of the club's exterior. The fact that it's now shrouded in netting for several months and they never mentioned that to me when I booked my wedding? An "I'm sorry" would have been nice. I totally get that this is a social club first and foremost, but when you're running a full time wedding business with events every week, someone should be answering phones and offering a bit more service than they currently do. read more

We recently got married at the club and it was an absolutely perfect day! The club was the only place we looked at for our wedding because from the moment we walked through the doors, we knew it was the the ideal place for us. The building itself is gorgeous; full of stained glass, wood paneling, fireplaces, a balcony, and generally dripping in New York history. It's also totally inclusive - we had both our ceremony and reception there, and they cater in-house and provide all tables, chairs, linens, etc. For all that, their prices are relatively low and the staff is very helpful and always willing to please. Crimson E. is out of his/her, alleged, mind. The Club is a gorgeous Gothic-revival Victorian structure - the "jewel in the crown" of Park Slope. I have been a member for three years and take most of my weekday meals there. The bar/lounge is a glorious space dripping with stained glass. The food is excellent - a tribute to our Chef, Mark Usewicz. The membership dues are incredibly inexpensive: $550 annual for over-35ers. $350 annual for under-35ers. The Under-35 designation was added about 2 years ago and has a lower monthly minimum usage requirement of only $15 bloody dollars a month (Over-35 is $50 a month). Which means that if you don't drink and/or eat at least the minimum $ amount for the month, you'll be charged the unused balance. I see that Crimson E. as a resident of Staten Island is a non-resident member - which means that they pay an even lower annual dues: $250 per individual - and don't have any monthly minimum requirement, at all. So for a meager $250 a year they have the use of the Clubhouse. Cheap at twice the price just for the use of a clean bathroom. Aside from lowering the annual dues for Under-35ers - the rates have not been increased in years - I will leave you to discover that the event rental rates are not astronomical - in fact they're so reasonable that the Club is booked every Saturday until "kingdom come" for Weddings, etc. and the smaller rooms are available and inexpensive. And the Club has live piano music in the bar/lounge dining room three nights a week and at the ALL YOU CAN DRINK, $20 per person, Sunday Brunch! The initial facts given here about the Clubhouse state that there is no outdoor seating. In fact there are three balconies on the second floor (shown in the first photo): A beautiful covered loggia off the dining room with seating, a balcony with seating on the 8th Avenue facade, and a juliet balcony off the card room. If you like to drink and eat in serene, historic, surroundings, in a private space, far from the madding crowd - you'll appreciate the Montauk Club. Don't bother. We booked a wedding for this summer and suddenly were confronted with a building hidden in scaffolding, no warnings given. The management and board have been totally unresponsive to our concerns and basically have said that this is the situation, take it or leave it. Communication has been almost nonexistent and there has been no help in planning for the event. They do not even allow tastings of the items on the wedding menu. the montauk club is a gorgeous place that makes me feel like i'm in a movie version of my brooklyn life. good friends got married here recently and i was so impressed with this glorious old space. the dark wood, the amazing architectural details and the beautiful stained glass all made their wedding one of the best and prettiest i've been to. and the location in prime park slope is also fairly difficult to beat. i am excited for the opportunity to go back for dinner one night when they have open opps (it's a private club). read more

Unfortunately, the food service at the Montauk Club ruined an otherwise beautiful, magical wedding. All components of our wedding came together beautifully, until the guests went to the buffet. Our arrangements with the manager of the club had been for two meats- loin of pork and rack of lamb- and we had told her we wanted our guests to receive both meats. She assured us they would, that there would be plenty of food. When our guests approached the buffet, they were told, "no you may not have both. One or the other meat. If we gave both, we would run out". The guests were then given one small portion of one meat and small portions of sides. The plates looked skimpy and meager as they left the buffet. This was a great embarrassment to us. It was also the complete opposite of what we had agreed to with the manager of Montauk for our wedding reception. She totally reneged on arrangements for our reception buffet. Subsequent meeting and e-mails with the manager have proven futile as we have been given the runaround and a host of new "reasons" why guests received only one meat and small servings at that. The Montauk Club is a beautiful site filled with character and charm. The staff needs fine-tuned and a consultant should be brought in to show them how things are properly done. Then this may well be a venue with true panache and desirable to brides. As it is now, brides beware. read more

I think Joi B has valid points about New Year's Eve, though the review would be better served as a review for the specific event. Personally I was there and had an AMAZING time and had no problem getting champagne all night for an amazingly low price at either of the two bars. The ambiance at the club is wonderful and it gets 4 stars for its main function which is as a bar and eating club. The main draw for me is the fact that you get to treat it like its your own living room - the pace is INTENTIONALLY slow, think country club speed. Members don't go there to get drinks lightning fast, they go to socialize. The Montauk Club could never be held to the standards of a manhattan night club, nor should it.. It is what it is - a glorious 100 year old mansion filled with eccentric Park Slopers who greet you by name. Many who join also appreciate what it can be, and its potential to live up to the grandeur of its formative years is there, you just need to squint a little bit and invite a few friends for a drink at the bar and say hi to those sitting next to you. read more

I was married at the Montauk Club in December and would NOT recommend the venue to any couple. Long story short - they have no idea how to manage events. The chef was very difficult to work with and Sanya, the club manager, is clueless about how the events at her own club are run. They did not provide enough food for our guests and we were mortified. Even though the floor manager (who was present the night of the event ) confirmed the food shortage, Sanya denied it. IT WAS A DISASTER! My husband and I had our wedding here in March 2015. It was fantastic from start to finish. We had just under 120 people. The space is magical and timeless. We wanted a venue where we could do the entire wedding--ceremony, cocktails, reception--all in one location. The Montauk Club fit the bill perfectly. The staff and Rido, the manager, were very attentive to our questions and requests. Working with our outside vendors was a breeze. If you are looking for an NYC wedding with classic, elegant food in a beautiful space, I would highly recommend the Montauk Club. read more

Wow! Montauk Club was the perfect venue for my husband and I to celebrate our marriage after 26 years together. The party we threw for the event was epic! and at every step along the way Larry B. and the staff at Montauk House were flawless. I do not say this lightly - they were the top! It really doesn't get any better, and the best part is they were so low key and easy with the details. Every guest complimented us on the room and the food - and that's not easy! we had a baby shower brunch for my sister here and I was very excited because it is a beautiful space. Unfortunately, both the food and the service was terrible! Not only was the food terrible but it was cold! Moreover, the service was very lacking. It took about 45 minutes for all the tables to get served and there were only 8 tables. Needless to say it was so, so disappointing. read more
