Check in process was a nightmare, the lady at the front desk told me my reservation had been cancelled although the hotel had already charged my card. Took 15 minutes for her to locate my reservation. The room was decent, the carpets need a good wash, but the washroom was sanitized well, the bed was clean and very comfortable. The jacuzzi tub was amazing. Breakfast was disappointing, for a continental breakfast it was extremely lacking. It was strange they did not give me breakfast vouchers upon checkin, I had to go to the desk in the morning. The staff all around the hotel looked miserable. Not one person smiled or said hi. I am currently staying here. I check out on Monday. Up until Sunday at around 4am ish everything was good. Someone woke me up by loudly knocking on my door. I didn't answer it of course. The person (s) then pounded on my door again a second time. I got really scared and turned off my TV and I waited until I heard the person or persons leave then called the front desk. They said they would check the security cameras. He said only odd thing was a wheelchair outside my door. I went downstairs this morning and the girl at the front desk said there was nobody on the floor last night her boss said which i found weird because she wasn't working last night. I am very scared to sleep again tonight or to leave my room. I was seen entering the hotel Saturday afternoon with several expensive shopping bags so I may have been targeted. Otherwise the food is good and the room is nice I just am very scared and I feel very dismissed that nobody is following up on this. read more

Reading some of the reviews after I already booked and paid for my room made me more than a little leery. Let's just say it was a lot better than I expected. Check-in was a breeze, ample parking, nicely appointed rooms, great location. Only a few complaints: 1) there was a gentleman working the front desk who worked at his pace and didn't even acknowledge me as I stood waiting to check out. I was the only person in the lobby and it's not like he was on the phone or dealing with another guest. I stood for an unusual amount of time before he looked up and asked if I wanted something. 2) Shower was low. I'm not a tall person (5'8"), but I had to stoop to get my hair wet. There was enough of hot water and great pressure, so it was just a small annoyance. 3) TV remote didn't work. Perhaps if there were batteries in them it might have. I didn't partake in their bkfst, so can't comment on it. Overall, the rooms were quiet, bed was large, clean and comfortable....more than enough pillows. I asked for a late checkout...noon rather than 11am. It was granted with no issue. I'd go back when in the area again. read more

The staff welcomed me as I walked in the door. Check in was swift and made a point to engage a pleasant conversation with me. He was very professional and friendly. They offer free continental breakfast which includes basic breads, bagels and rolls. They also offer hot oatmeal which is very well prepared. Fresh fruit and cereals are available. Absolutely the worst stay at any hotel in my life traveling and I'm an avid traveller. The front desk staff always look pissed off, cleaning staff no English and completely scared and lost. Complimentary breakfast was minimal- staff collecting vouchers looked like she was lost. The restaurant - stay away from the microwave king cook- all you hear is the guy yelling and being rude to the workers and the microwave beeps... AVOID OR BE SICK! None the less, ask for water and receive a bottle of water you get $7+ for on your bill. SURPRISE! The actual hotel, looks like a cheap motel - nothing modern or no real up keep... luxury rooms could be nicer but the curtains and carpet are seriously sooo over dated old and gross. Hotel stinks like a smoke pit. Overall do not stay here!! It's a page of a nightmare in a hotel... Hilton down the street- out on a limb- they would be a big step up. read more

Caution: BED BUGS! Will never stay here again and would not recommend it to anyone. Found a bed bug under a pillow, when I addressed this with the front desk staff they offered to move us to another room. We refused a room change because of the inconvenience to move all of our belongings to only stay another day. We also didn't want to go to another room with more bed bugs if we had already found them in one room. After discussing the situation with the manager, she offered to refund two days of our stay as compensation. The manager said it was suspicious that we didn't notice the bed bugs right away but my disabled sister was sleeping in the bed where the bed bug was found. She had noticed bites on her body but was unable to express this to me earlier in our stay due to her various disabilities. After speaking to Laura at head office, she said we must have brought the bed bugs with us and that the laundry bill for having to wash all of our clothes and belonging at a dry cleaners would not be covered. In addition, the bed bug bite I received was confirmed by my doctor as being a bed bug bite which became severely infected. I was prescribed $50 in various antibiotics and medications such as creams and oral medications since the infection was spreading quickly. Management did not apologize for the inconvenience nor did head office and they refused to offer any additional compensation aside from the refund of 2 days. Upon speaking to the manager of the Vaughan location, she said that earlier that morning they had checked the floor above and below our room as well as all of the surrounding rooms on our floor where there were no signs of bed bugs which I don't believe they could have thoroughly inspected all of these rooms for bed bugs in less than a few hours. When we had checked into the room, I wanted a spare blanket and had found an eyelash extension folded into the blanket inside a duvet cover bag so the rooms must not have been checked and cleaned thoroughly as they suggested. We have never had any encounters with bed bugs at other hotels or have had any experiences personally at home with bed bugs which is why we didn't know the bites were from bed bugs and did not address the issue as soon as we saw bites on us. Horrible customer service experience from both management to head office. No apologies were made for our experience and no additional compensation for the inconvenience was offered by the Monte Carlo Vaughan and their head office. read more

When after work drinks turned into dinner and dinner turned into after dinner drinks, I decided it proper that I cab it to the closest hotel for the evening rather than the alternative. Being in Woodbridge at the time (and not wanting to pay Hilton prices) I was brought to the closest spot, the Monte Carlo Inn. Located near Jane and Hwy 7, its set back and sort of hidden from view on the main roads. However, don't despair if you search turns up empty, look for the Walmart (hard to miss those) and its located conveniently behind it ( I assume for all those exhausting last minute Walmart shopping sprees - they can be tiring :p). Don't be discouraged by the term "Inn", which to most folks comes with the image of a pull up and park, pay the hour place, with a neon "(No) Vacancy" sign out front. Au Contrair. In my modest personal opinion I would give this a solid 3 star hotel rating (yes a hotel - looks just like one). Its clean, the bed is comfortable, the staff are professional and they have a wonderful little resto/bar on the main floor which serves up complimentary breakfast to all guests. The decor is modest but tasteful in each room - very simple fixtures, but heck for $99 a night what a deal! Its also located within walking distance of a many amenities should your stay be for longer than one evenings. Also for all you 905 club hoppers, this place is only a 10-15 minute stumble from the AMC theater complex in Vaughan which is home to several great night spots (Dueling Pianos, Berlin Nightclub, Ivy nightclub, Luxy Nightclub, Yuk Yuk's). I enjoyed my stay here and so will you, look them up if and when you are in town. X-FACTOR: Monte Carlo has BEAUTIFUL Jacuzzi suites. Very romantic for those local little Trysts, and if your one night stand develops into a life long one, no worries friend, have a peak at the Honeymoon suite :) Shockingly elegant for a place INN the middle of no where. I liked the fountain in the front of the Monte Carlo Inn. Although the place looks old, it added a nice fancy touch to the place. When we walked in the Inn, we were cramped into a tiny lobby with a few couches. We ended up standing and waiting after the two ladies working at the desk took care of each customer. Neither of the staff working at the front desk were welcoming. Honestly it felt like we, the customers, were being a drag and wasting THEIR day. If it had not been for our reservation, I would have up and left as I don't tolerate horrible customer service. The room was nice and spacious with a coffee table and two chairs on the side. We also had a desk, another chair, and two beds. A television, dresser, fridge, coffee maker, hair dryer and microwave were provided as well. The room itself was nice, and the cleaning lady who cleaned our room every day did an excellent job, which is why I am giving two stars. Breakfast was from 6-10 am, and you were able to choose from apple strudels, danish pastries, croissants, cereal such as frosted/corn flakes, rice krispies, and cheerios. Fruit such as honeydew, canaloupe, and pineapple were available. Orange juice, hot water, and milk, as well as toast, muffins, jam, and butter were there. Unfortunately if you wanted eggs, sausage, and/or bacon you had to pay extra for it. Every single day we stayed at Monte Carlo, each lady working at the front desk was rude and unwelcoming. None of them had smiles on their faces, so it was obvious that they all hated their jobs. The lady at the front desk we had to deal with was Pam, and sadly, I think she was in charge of all of them as her badge had extra print written under her name. I don't recommend coming here unless you don't mind talking to rude and unhappy people or you don't mind if your vacation is ruined. read more

Worst hotel EVER. Noisy. Could hear the people in the next room doing the nasty. For 2 hours. The woman sounded happy. The hallway at 2:30 was noisy. In the morning. When the room was made up, they left the USED cup from the night before, with water still in it!! The on site restaurant was the absolute worst food I've eaten. And there's nothing close so it's your only choice. The complimentary breakfast was terrible. Bad service. Bad food. I would NEVER stay here. Ever. read more

My only complaint was the free breakfast only included : toast , bagels , muffins and fruit - which had visibly been sitting there since breakfast opened. If you are looking at the Monte Carlo for a wedding booking, please do yourself a favour and look elsewhere! We chose the Monte Carlo Inn Vaughan over other nearby hotels mainly because they offered a free shuttle service. However the issues we've had with them are not at all worth it! Firstly, the shuttle is NOT guaranteed. It depends on what other groups request it, and you may not know if you have it or not until a few days before. We had so many problems with them - 1. They had our initial reservation wrong, putting us in the honeymoon suite the night BEFORE our wedding, which thankfully we noticed online while checking the block booking settings and corrected. We almost pulled our whole block-booking at that time, as we were nervous our guests would have troubles too, but they assured us it was an isolated incident, and offered us complimentary a bottle of wine. We should have paid attention that that Red Flag and booked elsewhere. 2. They checked a groomsman into a dirty room, which he only noticed after arriving and unpacking. After getting it resolved at the front desk and changing rooms, he was behind schedule and then was late for wedding party photos (The Monte Carlo first claimed it was hard to have the room cleaned because he'd requested early check-in, then later claimed he was just accidentally given the wrong room altogether). 3. After the reception, at 1:30am the last of our group arrived for the shuttle (which was supposed to run until 2:30 or until everyone was gone - we double checked TWICE both when we checked in, and with Adrien the manager as it was only listed until 1:30 and we knew that wouldn't be enough to transport everyone). At 1:30am the driver told us he was the last shuttle of the night, and left 10 of us, including the BRIDE AND GROOM stranded at our remote venue. After multiple calls and complaints, 2 shuttles arrived at 2:30, but the hotel and shuttle service both claim there was "no interruption in service". The hotel first told us that since it was a 3rd party contract, they had no control over it. The shuttle service claims that no one was there at the shuttle at 1:30 and they didn't realize anyone was still waiting (despite the fact that the groom spoke directly to the driver). We have call logs from people's phones indicating that we were calling right from when the shuttle left at 1:30 until nearly 2:30am when a bridesmaid was actually ON the phone with the hotel as the last 2 shuttles arrived. The only response we have so far from the Monte Carlo's investigation is that there was no disruption and the shuttle logs show that there was one at 1:30am and another at 1:54am. 4. At 3:30 am I discovered that the original booker didn't include my name on the account for the HisName-MyName wedding, when I was told that even though I was standing in the lobby in a wedding dress, trying to get a key to the honeymoon suite, that it was ONLY a male name on the account and therefore no key could be given to me. Monte Carlo is claiming that the front desk asked me for ID (not true) and that since I had none (also not true, I had my purse with me) they were unable to verify my identity and couldn't give me a key for liability purposes. 5. A bridesmaid was locked out of her room at 3:00am also because the booker only included 1 of three names that were supposed to be attached to the room, and since her name wasn't listed she couldn't get a key, or even be told what room her roommates were in for her to be able to knock on the door and find them. A requested room with a couch for this specific booking was also never recorded, so the hotel offered the girls a roll-out cot instead since the rooms with couches were all booked. 6. Numerous guests had other minor complaints, varying from a phone turning the dial-tone on at 3:00am on speakerphone for no reason, to an alarm clock that was still set to 5am from a previous guest, to unexpected check-in security deposits. The morning after our wedding, a member of the cleaning staff saw me leave my room (aka the Honeymoon Suite), asked if I had checked out, and when I said that no my husband was still sleeping in the room, she looked me in the face and asked "well, when are you checking out then?" which is SO RUDE to ask a guest. I'll check out when I'm ready to, which will be well within the hotel guidelines of "late checkout" which we had requested. 7. It's now day 6 after the wedding & the hotel manager Adrien, and corporate rep Laura have not called us back as promised. Others have complained and been told all kinds of reasons why it's not the hotel's fault, but so far no apologies nor compensation have been given. It's always "an isolated incident" that they have some excuse for. DO NOT STAY HERE!!! read more

On July the 20th, 2013 we booked a suite at the Monte Carlo Inn Vaughan. We were on the 5th floor. The room was nice and we had a Jacuzzi in the middle of the room. The bed was very comfortable and the room itself was very clean and beautifully decorated. We had a wedding to attend that same day and came back to our suite at around 12:30 AM. At 2:00 AM my boyfriend went downstairs to get some lemon water that they have next to the reception desk and that was the last time we exited the room. At 6: 30 AM I was awaken by the front door opening and closing. I was in a very deep sleep and when I was awaken, I did not understand what was going on. I assumed that it was the housekeeper that came in. When I opened my eyes, I noticed a man without a shirt walking in the room towards the small fridge beside the window. At first I thought it was my boyfriend who went downstairs to get more lemon water but when I called his name and he turned towards me I soon realized that it was not him. The guy, who was a complete stranger, started to walk towards me. By his walk, I was able to note that he was extremely intoxicated (not sure with what though). He was rapidly approaching me; I was lying on the side closed to the door; my boyfriend took the side closer to the window. I was in a state of shock and could not move. I just kept on saying my boyfriend's name. My boyfriend yelled at the guy and told him to get out. The stranger came close to me, waved his hand, said "sorry man" and exited our suite. Luckily, he did not harm us; I didn't notice a knife or a gun on him. My boyfriend got out of bed rapidly, put some cloths on and called the reception desk right away. Gary, the receptionist did not take us seriously. He even laughed when we told him what happened. He stated "it's impossible". He offered my boyfriend an additional hour in the suite and a "Premium" breakfast. He just said that he will look to see when was the last time someone used a key to get into our room. When he called us back he stated that no one tried to access the room in the morning and the last time a key was used was at 02:00 AM, which is the time when my boyfriend went to get the water. He said that we need to speak to the manager, who will be in at 09:00 AM. Even though we were exhausted, we could not fall asleep after this scary and traumatizing event. When the manager, Adrian Calagiu came to see us in the suite, he spoke to my boyfriend and told him that he will do an investigation to see what happened. He examined the door and showed us that the door did close automatically; we didn't even have to force it to close! And you did need a key to open it. He showed us a lock on the inside, but it did not say anywhere on the door that we need to lock ourselves from the inside. The manager confirmed that the door closes on its own and in order to open it you require a card. We packed our stuff and went to the reception to check out and speak to Mr. Calagiu. He called us to his office and showed us all the times that a card was used to open the front door of our suite. However, we already knew that a card was not used to open the door. He said that he looked at the cameras and found a guy sleeping in the hallway on the 5th floor. He could not see our door and didn't see how the stranger was able to open the door. He explained that 4 guys were sharing a room in the hotel. This guy was one of the four guys, but he only had the information for 2 of them. He also stated that he called their room and left them a "message". When I asked if they caught the guy, he answered that they tried to talk to him but he run away from them and then drove away! A drunken guy driving away! And who will be accountable if he kills a few people on the highway? So I asked him if he called the police and he said, "No, there is nothing to call about". Until this day I am appalled by the behaviour of Mr.Calagiu and his carelessness. They could and should have called the police for 1. Trespassing; 2. They let a drunken guy drive away. The manager offered us 50$ as a discount!! Are you kidding me! He didn't ask if anything was stolen from us or if we were hurt. He didn't care about our well-being. All he cared about is the reputation of his hotel. It would be a nice article in the newspaper if a couple was murdered by a drunken man. Is that what it takes for them to take safety issues seriously!?! Once we left the hotel, we regretted that we did not try playing with the door to see if the latch gets jammed inside and the door doesn't lock. I do not recommend anyone to stay at this place unless you are suicidal. read more

The absolute worst hotel experience ever! I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The staff were rude, with terrible attitude. The management was clueless and were of NO help at all. We were supposed to receive a call from the upper management and never were. The beds were terrible and dipped in the middle. We were awoken at 3am to a blood curdling scream and someone knocking on our door saying she was attacked and the hotel never addressed it. The management said she had no idea about it when COPS WERE CALLED! Terrible communication in that hotel. They also flat out lied to us about the US to Canadian conversion rate. Word to the wise...
