Best DMV in LA County! Compared to the rest, by far, the Friendliest and most Helpful staff at any DMV. Staff was early and helping customers before they even opened, also, very polite and helpful security as well. Everyone behind the counters had a smile and were very polite and friendly with all customers, all staff showed that they loved their jobs and truly cared about all the customers. Security Sandoval was on point, he was very polite, helpful, and friendly. Security Sandoval greeted everyone with a smile and assisted them with any questions they had, never seen a security guard work as hard as Sandoval. My wife went in for a drivers test, she was assisted by Examiner Mike, another awesome employee of the Montebello DMV. Examiner Mike was very polite and professional (nothing compared to the rude examiners at Bell Gardens). Wife was extremely nervous and Mike made her feel welcomed and calmed her down by addressing her nervousness and explaining to her that the test was as if she was driving with any other person and there was nothing to be nervous about. Examiner Mike was very helpful and went over all the results at the end. For beginning to end, wife said he was amazing. Thank you Mike!!! DMV was also clean and everything was in order.

Came to renew Drivers License since I needed a Real ID now. Our visit was quick and efficient. We were in and out in only 17 minutes, and this is with checking-in at one window, reviewing documents at a second window, taking a picture at a third window, and finalizing everything at a fourth window, all in 17 minutes. So, make an appointment online, fill out the forms online, and you will have a stress-free visit. I have to give a shout out to the security guard. Everyone who comes has probably not been there in years and you don't know where to go or what line to stand in. The guard shouted out instructions to everyone, kept the lines in-order and made the lines move quickly, this made it soo soo much easier. Sorry I don't know his name.

Slowest employee ever!

I had to renew my drivers license and I could not do it online as I needed to take the vision test and fingerprints. I submitted photos of my passport along with two documents showcasing my proof of address. Upon arriving to window 22 the man asked me again for a physical copy of my passport and two documents showcasing my address. Bruh, what? What was the point of me uploading everything online? Made absolutely no sense! So if you're renewing your license be sure to bring all documents with you in hand or they will refuse to issue you a license despite uploading the documents online. Window 22 worker--the slowest mofo I have ever encountered! He took his sweet time photocopying my documents and passport. I would compare him to a sloth! He is a sloth. I am a very impatient, efficient, want things and get things done yesterday kind of woman. So this dude made me want to rip my hair out! I told him I received a letter saying I needed to take a vision test, get fingerprinted, etc. The mofo said, "Do you have that letterrrrrrrr?" Bruh, why would I make that up? I paid cash and he must have counted my change a zillion times. Like, bruh, what are you doing?????????!!!!! Is it really that hard to subtract 45 from 100? He wasn't rude, just super slow and I hate slow people! I swear I stood at his window for like a half an hour and when he was finally done, he sent me to another line to take my photograph. The woman who took the photograph was very efficient, nice, and knew exactly what she was doing. She was lovely! There is ample amount of parking! I parked very far because my car is brand new and I didn't want anyone around it, so that's a plus. Wait time as evidenced in the photograph below was nearly an hour without an appointment. I would recommend checking-in way before driving over to save you time. Avoid window 22 unless you like slow workers.

My registration is due it's not late but I can't get a smog. Can I still get my registration?

I want to take my drivers permit test, how are they doing it now with the new restrictions?

How much is it to retake photo for drivers license & renew in person?

I paid $35. To renew my dL.

Any dmv open saturdays?

There's quite a few including Pasadena, Fontana and West Covina. This location, unfortunately, is not. Go to: https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/dmv/detail/fo/fo_sat_offices

The DMV experience has always been described as one of those harrowing experiences with long wait…read moretimes, unfriendly staff, outdated everything, and just general negativity. Surprisingly, the experience here was pretty positive on a recent visit. I was helping my cousin get set up with his DL for the first time and the staff were friendly in helping get things set up for him and allowing me to help translate. The person helping us (I wish I got her name but she was really sweet and was learning basic Mandarin to help folks who come through) was able to get set up with the RealID in person, even though all of his documents have not physically arrived. There were some hiccups, as would be expected, but nothing that the staff weren't willing to be helpful and patient with us with. The facility itself is clean and seems well maintained. There was plenty of parking and it was easy to get in. I guess when I finally come back to socal permanently, I'll likely end up coming to get my license at this location!

His tone, attitude, and facial expressions were disrespectful and made me feel uncomfortable. When I mentioned filing a complaint, he sarcastically waved me over and told me to "go ahead and complain," which felt very inappropriate and unprofessional for a DMV employee. I understand DMV policies must be followed, but customers should still be treated with basic respect and professionalism.

I have taken my daughter three times now to take her driving test…read moreShe is a safe driver. I'm sure she's under tremendous amount of anxiety and stress upon arriving for a actual driving test. I'm not here to stand as a self-righteous mother defending her daughter She didn't pass for my new little things that I see license people doing all the time out on the streets And that's fine. She's going to learn her lessons her way on what the DMV expects from you. This time, however, she got a instructor named Derek Whoever seemed very funny very Open for the first few minutes. Then begin to be a little bit outwardly demanding upset because I was videotaping. My daughters test. Asked me not to film him, so I deleted the video promptly upon his request. Once they came back, I could see him talking to her for extended amount of time, I could sense it probably this was going to be another failed test He came up to me, or called me over to him when he got out and begin explaining to me what he felt. She did wrong, and was kind of arrogantly defending himself. I didn't think much of it. I told him it was obviously nerves, but I know that. Eventually she's going to get her license. No problem. When I got in the car, my daughter began to explain to me how he was rattling one command after another to her, and making her even more intense and frustrated and anxiety riddle. Telling her things like speed it up. Watch your speed last second commands. Like make a right or make a Left with virtually no time to do. so. Not safely anyways. And then what she was trying to explain this to him, he took a very rude defensive approach to this I think that Derek could use a review from his superior and perhaps they could go over with him. How people in this situation are stressed to begin with and don't need him rattling off one command after another, without time for the person to do what he's asking in a safe manner And definitely to not take such a rude approach, and defend himself by being condescending, belittling. And arrogant. Kindness takes you a long way, just because you are in a position of power over. Somebody else does not give you the right to talk down to them. I think we're going to try a different DMV

One word can sum up my experience here: chaotic…read more I recently bought a used vehicle and the dealer had sent me here to submit the registration and pick up license plates. The name has changed to Facilito Auto Registration, Inc, and is offered as an alternative to the DMV when it comes to processing minor vehicle paperwork. After my visit here, I feel that the DMV would have been the more efficient route. The venue is on a busy street with no dedicated parking. I parked in the lot of a neighboring strip mall. I came on a weekday afternoon and the single room office was full of customers. There were three staff members. It was not managed well. There was a lot of commotion and chatter, though it's hard to remain quiet when you're in confined quarters with several others. I watched people walk in after me and walk right up to staff members without waiting their turn. The staff were all on their cell phones having side conversations as well. It was a very weird, chaotic vibe. One of the women behind the counter was speaking to each incoming customer in Spanish; I was a bit lost in translation. I waited an hour and 20 minutes before any of the staff even acknowledged my presence. Apparently the printer was out of commission so there wasn't a way to process the paperwork. Another staff member was manually filling in the forms by hand in lieu of the printer fiasco. When I was acknowledged, the woman was friendly and apologetic. I live a few hours away so sort of wasted my time in this loud, claustrophobic room within close proximity of several others. It was at that time I really wish I'd paid attention in high school Spanish class. I ended up leaving without anything being done and asked the dealer to process on my behalf on a later date when the printer is back in working order. If I found myself in this sort of scenario again, I'd likely opt to go to a AAA branch instead.

Has it ever crossed your mind that a huge portion of the people walking through your doors are there because they don't know how to navigate everything online? If they could do it from home, trust me--they would. Nobody wakes up excited to spend their entire day sitting in a DMV waiting room. Instead, what do they get? Confusing kiosks. Zero instructions. And not a single staff member nearby to guide people who clearly need help. I watched elderly people struggle just to use a keypad. No direction, no assistance--just frustration. It felt cruel. And honestly? I ended up helping multiple people myself, and I'm not even that tech-savvy. I just couldn't stand there and watch. We're not machines. We're human beings. Not everyone is up to speed with technology, and that shouldn't mean they're left behind or made to feel helpless. This system isn't just inconvenient--it's broken. Sincerely, A very disgruntled (but still hopeful) DMV patriot
