Frustrating Parking Experience at Montefiore 1250 Waters Place Montefiore Hospital at 1250 Waters Place seriously needs to improve its parking system for patients. The hospital has two towers, but even though they are part of the same facility, the parking validation doesn't work across both. If you park in Tower 2 and your appointment is in Tower 1, you won't get your parking validated--even though it's the same hospital. To make matters worse, by the time you figure this out and try to move your car, you only have a 15-minute grace period. That's not nearly enough time, especially when navigating multiple floors using two different elevators just to get to an appointment on the 11th floor. There is no direct elevator that goes all the way up, which adds unnecessary delays and stress. In the end, you can end up being charged $19 just because you parked in the "wrong" tower. It's completely unreasonable and makes the entire experience frustrating for patients who are already dealing with medical appointments. Montefiore needs to seriously rethink this process and make it more patient-friendly. read more

I would have given it 4 stars. The Cons - The parking garage. Valet parking? If you can get the attention of the guys in the booth. It would be helpful if there was signage "This way out" and not a "Do Not Enter" sign at the level leading to the street. But, it is Free. Not like the hot mess parking at 210th Street Montefiore Hospital. You have to Sign-in at the reception desk, fine. But you don't have to sign out. In the event of an evacuation, do you look for those that signed in? Or just go about business as usual? The Pros- it's a well maintained building. The staff is polite and professional. The cafeteria is actually pretty good. The waiting areas are clean and comfortable. There is a TV in the patient waiting room that is at a normal volume; not blasting nor inaudible. The salt water aquarium there is a stress reliever. The patients are seen very close to their appointments. The restrooms are clean. In the main lobby there are seating areas there to wait for a ride or just relax a minute. read more

Three stars because the surgical staff was wonderful to my mother-in-law. She's had a great outcome post-surgery and they have been awesome. However, the front and back offices leave much to be desired. The B Suite on the 11th floor has got to have the worst crew in the building. I've been helping out my MIL with her pre-/post-surgical appointments since she broke her shoulder a week after we buried her youngest son. To add insult to injury it seems as though every time we visit this location, the service has gotten worse and worse. On the first two occasions we were in and out, likely because she only had to see the doctor and had no other services those days. Unfortunately, much like most Montefiore locations, the staff fails to think outside the box and utilize common sense when navigating the confines of their hospital system, protocols and procedures. Our last two visits have been the worst, today included. The time before today my MIL was the first appointment in the surgeon's office yet we waited for over 30 minutes or more before they finally came out to give her a script to get an xray down the hall. When we finally got to xray, they were packed and we waited another 30 minutes for that to be completed before going back to the surgeon's office to wait for yet, another 30+ minutes to see the doctor. It seems as though regardless of your appointment time, if you leave for an xray that THEY order for you, you lose your place in line so we ended up being seen AFTER patients who arrived after us. The wait time was completely unnecessary because she was the first appointment and had they handed her the xray script earlier, we would have been done earlier. Today's visit was similar to the last one in that we had a first thing, 8AM appointment, and we waited in their waiting room for 45 minutes while the staff trickled in with their breakfasts in hand, coats on (possibly late) and personal conversations. It's frustrating. My MIL and I are both in the medical field. We work in radiology so therefore, we work closely with surgery, the ER, and outpatient facilities. We know when things are running smoothly and when it's a sh*t show. It wasn't until I asked the front desk staff to check if my MIL had to have an xray that they even considered checking with the doctor. Apparently, she needed an xray so we rushed down the hall. Luckily, the xray office was empty so she was seen immediately. After xray, we went back to the first waiting room and as soon as we sat down they called her. This never happens and I suspect that we were only expedited because I made a complaint and brought the negligence to their attention. Whomever the office manager is, they need to take more of an initiative in ensuring the patients are top priority. Visiting during Halloween and the staff being more involved with their costumes in a waiting area where patients have been sitting for an hour or more, at different stages of surgery, hearing employees discuss their costumes and commenting on face paint is a problem. The environment is very lackadaisical. This is an orthopedic surgery department and common sense would be to assume that most patients will need x-rays before they see the doctor. This paperwork and these scripts should be ready in the patients' charts for the day of their future appointments. They know whether or not an xray will be required at the last visit. Three weeks ago when my MIL saw her doc last, they should have known she would need another xray today. There's a set schedule that is only deviated in regards to physical therapy or complications. Upon checking in, the front desk staff should be going over the names on the sign in sheet instead of waiting to call people up one by one. If they need to register and give insurance information, they wait their turn. If they need to have an xray before seeing the doctor, they should be given the script within 15 (MAX) minutes upon signing in so they can go down the hall and have their scans completed. They should also have their place in line kept so that when they return to see the doctor, they're not waiting forever to be called in, after hoards of patients have arrived AFTER them. Closed mouths don't get fed so I'm not surprised we got in and out in the way we did. It would have been a lot sooner had I spoken up earlier. We made it to her physical therapy appointment with ten minutes to spare but we shouldn't have to rush around because of the slack of an office staff. Patients don't make their time available for your leisure. You're providing a service, so act accordingly. With that said, her doctor and surgical coordinator in this location are on point. The surgery was a success and he's very involved in her health and trying to make sure that she gets back on her feet with the best possible outcome. read more

Yesterday Mr. Savino called me and re-scheduled an appointment for today which was initially for 5/18/2. First, I'd like to thank Mr. Savino for making sure that I was seen at the orthopedic clinic, and correcting was went wrong on 5/18/21. He is both a professional and hands on person willing to extend a helping hand. My appointment was possible because of him and I sincerely thank him. The doctor was also very nice and a professional as well. I was seen within a reasonable time and very satisfied with the outcome I wholeheartly, thank both for the care I received. I arrived at Montefiore Center at 1250 Waters place on the 12th floor and was greeted with a smile by the receptionist. I was registered quickly and seen by the doctor in a timely fashion. I walked out of my appointment feeling like I was well taken care of and satisfied with the service in which I received. read more

The wait here is horrible. If you're more than 15mins late they make you reschedule which doesn't make any sense given that you wait 2hrs+ to see the doctor. I had a 10:40 appointment and here it is after 1pm and I still haven't been seen by the doctor. read more

Terrible service! I am currently waiting to be seen for a 10:30am appointment and going on over an hour just sitting here. Meanwhile all the front office staff is working on personal matters without even being discreet while patients wait. Montefiore is not focused on patient care, rather maximizing their profits at the expense of the patient. After this appointment, I will not be returning. read more

Unbelievable!! Do not come here!! Ever!! What a day at this place!! Here is what went down today: 1. I had an appointment at 3:45 today 6/30/2017. I walked in 25 minutes early. We checked in. Ok cool. We then hear a lady tell us it is going to be less than an hour wait because they are "behind". Alright I understand. We waited there for more than an hour,Almost 3 hours to be exact just to get an X-ray and set another appointment!! Unbelievable!!! 2. The waiting room made us feel like we were there for hours and hours with no end. The waiting room was a nightmare!! There were annoying kids screaming loudly and running around the whole waiting area and while the mother is blabbing away on the phone not having a care in the world and not even telling their kids to shut up! I felt like I was babysitting at a daycare center!! They had tv on which they had channel 7 news on which we tried hearing the tv and was interested in the newscast but the kids were crying and talking very loud like crazy!! I felt so happy and many others felt the same way when the annoying kids and their talkative mother was called in because after that we finally had peace and quiet. Thank God!!! Chairs were supper uncomfortable and hurt my back especially sitting there for almost 3 hours in this hell!!The waiting room looks modern with a fish tank but a long wait for nothing. Also there is no hand sanitizer and all of the sanitizer stations were empty. It should be full because it's germ city. 3. Most of the staff were nice and I guess decent but the doctor thinks it's a joke and not even caring that we waited close to 3 hours just to see him. I understand that things happen, but 3 hours for supposedly a 1 hour wait is ridiculous!! This never happens in the doctors offices in Westchester County that I go to all the time and I wait less than 30 minutes and I'm out of there. I could have been at home or going out to dinner but instead I was stuck here on a sunny Friday afternoon waiting in this boring, obnoxious and uncomfortable waiting room for 3 hours straight and then the staff doesn't even care that we waited 3 hours!!
