Began with practice a year ago & requested experienced hygienist due to some recession. Saw hygienist & scheduled another cleaning for May 2025. When I needed to slightly change the date of the cleaning due to a conflict, the office employee refused to reschedule with her, bizarrely stating that she was now transferred to another dentist. Refusing to reschedule when I already had an appt with her, which they obviously were going to have to honor, is unprecedented in my experience, as is assigning hygienists to a specific dentist & I have 5 dentists in my family. I even offered to change dentists so I could see the same hygienist, which the employee also refused. When I asked if the office would please honor this one appointment as scheduled, the employee said she would have to ask & get back to me. That was weeks ago & have never heard from this practice since. This is not a good way to treat patients. read more

I came here to have dental treatment by Dr. Takenaga. The service here was average; except the dental assistant named Angie could not do her job right when trying to take X-Ray for my teeth; yet her attitude was not very nice and courtesy. She even did not say bye or anything when I said thank to her upon leaving. The second time I met another assistant, Ms. Susie; who was very professional and polite. However, I decided not to come back to this office because they overcharged me (more than the amount on the contract they made me signed at the beginning) they added more hidden charge; and the price was not reasonable. read more

I'll never forget the terrifying feeling of having my teeth chipped away at and watching my dentist sew up the inside of my mouth with bloody gloves. They took out my four impacted wisdom teeth today. They kept me awake, and gave me six shots in the mouth. I'm not squeamish, but when I winced from the pain, the dentist told me it wasn't pain, it was just pressure. Why did it pinch and sting and hurt then? I was sent home without prescriptions for pain medication or antibiotics--not even an ice pack. My brother had been seen by Dr. Lehr a few weeks earlier and was sent to an oral surgeon next door for his wisdom teeth extraction due to his teeth being impacted. There, they put him into twilight sleep and sent him home with pain meds, ice packs, and antibiotics. It's been ten hours since my extraction and I haven't been able to close my mouth or swallow without extreme pain. We called Dr. Lehr and asked for something to control the pain. Dr. Lehr said he doesn't give pain meds to "kids." I'm twenty one years old and a graduate of UC Berkeley. Over the phone Dr. Lehr confessed that my wisdom teeth actually were impacted, (which is the same reason he sent my brother to the oral surgeon where he was put into twilight sleep with an IV for the procedure). Dr. Lehr never told me that my wisdom teeth were impacted until after I had endured a horribly painful and traumatic extraction at his hands. Finally, he said he'd give me some steroids for the swelling, and we asked to have them sent to CVS on Fremont St., but they didn't. It was a complete fiasco. I feel sad that Dr. Lehr sent my male sibling to an oral surgeon where he was given pain meds after his impacted wisdom teeth were taken out, but Dr. Lehr thinks I look like a little girl, so no meds for me. Dr. Lehr has always called me "sweetie" every time I've seen him. It didn't bother me much until today. I should've been given the same proper treatment as my brother. I'm not Tom Hanks on an island with an ice-skate to knock out my tooth. I shouldn't suffer like he did in the movie Castaway! read more

Dr. Falkel was as great as I had heard. He was patient, clearly discussed my dental health with me, and made me feel completely at ease. I particularly appreciated Dr. Falkel's practice of only performing dental procedures that are absolutely necessary. Michelle, Dr. Falkel's assistant, could not have been nicer. The following is a copy/paste of my 11 month-old Google Review, but it still stands as true from my recent visits: I couldn't be happier with Dr. Falkel's service - he and his assistant were bright, warm, and did everything to make sure I was comfortable. The moment I even winced during a drilling, he asked if I needed a second dose of numbing - talk about feeling cared for! The second dose made the filling completely painless. Dr. Falkel gave me a second opinion on a ridiculous diagnostic sheet from another dentistry that was trying to charge me over $5000. Dr. Falkel identified only one cavity that needed intervention and got me on my way for only ~$400 - he didn't even charge for the second opinion! It's stunningly clear that he cares about making dentistry as non-invasive and stress-free as possible. I feel so lucky! read more

I called this office and the same day, they got me in. I have a partial, and the dentist who delivered it, wouldn't help me. It stopped fitting around New Years. I had seen my dentist twice and all he stated was I needed a cleaning. I was so upset, I called and got into see Dr. Stoddard. He immediately addressed my dental anxiety, and made me feel the most comfortable (along with his amazing assistant, who was just the best!) before he started. He saw a bump in my mouth. He got it to go down, and the next day I was able to finally wear my retainer after almost a month! He is going to get all my business and my families from now on. Thank you, Dr. Stoddard! Monterey Peninsula Dental Group is absolutely amazing! I was actually nervous about finding a new dentist when my old dentist retired. I came here for the first time last year. Since then I have had the chance to actually meet several of the Doctors here and they all treat you like family! The staff is very welcoming and they are extremely helpful. I saw quite a few air purifiers while I was there for my appointment and they followed Covid guidelines to a T! I personally also have a friend that had worked for this group for many years and (consistent with my experience as a patient) she also loved working here. They do every kind of dental procedure under one roof. The office is organized, efficient, orderly and clean. The hygienist Stefani is such a sweetheart and so amazing at her job! She is so gentle and truly explained everything about my cleanings in detail. I can actually say I felt relaxed in the chair and enjoyed my cleaning. Most people hate getting their teeth cleaned. Lol. I actually look forward to it! I trust Stefani and the whole staff here! I can confidently recommend all of my friends and family to come to this practice! I scheduled a teeth cleaning and asked them to look at a sore tooth. After looking at the tooth and saying that they would recommend an oral surgeon. I was told they couldn't do the teeth cleaning, but would schedule me for one in 9 weeks! I was not given the referral to the oral surgeon either. Although doctor Corriveau was nice and professional, I'm not impressed with the administration but will give them a second chance - in 9 weeks. read more

Met with Dr. May for an appointment to discuss veneers. He went above and beyond - taking pictures of my teeth, in addition to full mouth x-rays. He was honest with me in regards to what he felt would benefit me the most and he also found an existing infection with a previous root canal that had been done. I was very impressed with the measures being taken to protect patients and the employees. Selena who helped me was wearing a face shield, mask, protective gown only worn for my visit and taken off immediately, and gloves. Apparently the office has a new air scrubbing system that keeps the air filtered and the air is sanitized 12 times an hour. I felt very safe and would highly recommend this dental group. read more

This review is specifically in regards to Stephen Ikemiya DDS who does general dentistry with the Monterey Peninsula Dental Group. So two years ago I moved to Monterey. Slightly less than two years ago my dental insurance kicked in. I didn't bother to do anything about this until a month ago. Highly responsible, don't you think? Well I'll admit it, my one of major hang-up was having to find a good dentist. I finally asked one of my coworkers and got Dr Ikemiya's name. I called and made an appointment. Ironically, 6 hours after that call I broke off a huge filling eating an Almond Joy. Can you believe that? I go two years without seeing a dentist, and then go and break a tooth the same day I call one?!?! It was meant to be I guess. My appointment was yesterday. I fully expected to be subjected to a painful cleaning, told I had a million cavities, and then lectured on the care and keeping of teeth. However, this appointment turned out to be unlike any dentist experience I've had before. I sat down in the dentist chair, and then proceeded to have a discussion about my goals and objectives with the dentist and dental hygienist. He then suggested it was unusual for someone my age to be going around busting her teeth so he wanted to investigate why that might be happening. Anyway, it was very interesting....and I left impressed and feeling that I was in good hands. My only complaints so far is that he's part of this dental 'group' so they're all interconnected, but at the same time each dentist has his own receptionist etc. So I found myself calling the wrong phone numbers right off the bat. And then when I arrived at my appointment finding out where to go was like doing a maze because there are reception desk all over the place in that building. Also, since we're going on beyond the 'basics' for my teeth, I'm sure this is going to add up quick money-wise so if you're on a budget, this might not be the place for you. He mentioned costs as we discussed my options which was really handy, but again, once you say yes to one thing, it's hard to say no to the next progressive option. And since my next appointment is for xrays and a consultation, then I'm sure there will have to be a third appointment for the actual cleaning etc, and then a fourth appointment to work on my teeth, and I can see this going on and on. Let's hope it's worth it and my dental insurance is as good as I've heard it is! read more

In mid-August I had a temporary crown placed on one a tooth by Dr. Grosnick. The service and quality was excellent! *I arrived on time and was greeted immediately by Kathy, a familiar face who I always enjoy seeing. *I was seated for the work to begin immediately. Promptness of seating is important to me and I have come to expect it whenever I visit this office. *The doctor's assistant made me feel comfortable and was very friendly. *Dr. Grosnick did a great job with no pain whatsoever and is always reminding me if I feel any discomfort to let me know. *Dr. Grosnick was very friendly and informative about the procedure he was performing. *Ashley did a great job doing her work and chose a perfect match to my existing teeth. *The work was completed on time and I was on my way. Dr. Ludy is the BEST! I was in a jam with a chipped front tooth and a wedding to be in the next day and he came in to fix it perfectly and so fast I couldn't believe it! I cannot thank him enough for being there when I needed him so badly and the tooth looks amazing which is difficult because its a front tooth and without knowing what the tooth looked like before he made it perfect. Dr. Steven Ikemiya is my regular dentist at this dental group. On Friday morning one of my old crowns had a minor skirmish with some breakfast food. Crown lost, popped off. I saved the crown. Called main number. My dentist was off that day per the recorded message, but it instructed me to call another number for immediate help if it were a dental emergency. It seemed like it was because now I possessed the appearance of someone from a backwoods place who hadn't seen a dentist in a number of years. Think of the movie "Deliverance." Nicole answered after a few rings. I explained my predicament. In pretty much no time she called me back and suggested I arrive at their office that same afternoon--a Friday--at 1 p.m. for a look a perhaps a temporary solution. Within a few minutes of arriving I was seated in "the chair" and being looked after by Vanessa, assistant to Dr. Ryan Lehr, who shortly arrived. After peering inside my mouth he explained to me what was to happen in the short run and what might be the likely long term course. Without bothering with all the details--because who really wants to know?--he somehow managed to get my crown back in place as a temporary weekend measure so as to get me out of Appalachia and back to Monterey County. Standard course of action? Don't know. But better than when I came in a few minutes before. In the meantime I'm directing my chews to the other side of my mouth for the weekend. I'll be back in on Monday for more work and heading towards a long-term solution. The point is, the group went out of its way to take care of me on short notice. I was well treated. My confidence level in this group is high. read more

This practice my do good dental work but their office services leave much to be desired. Using the email on their website we asked for email copies of their new patient forms for us and our children. After waiting a few days, we called the office and asked for email copies so we could gather information on past dental and health care to fill out the forms. A week later we are still waiting. We have decide to take our family to another more responsive practice. read more

After moving here with my family, it took us awhile to find a dentist we were comfortable with. We'd been with our last for a decade! I thought that was here with Dr. Bianco, but after her refusing to fill one of my children's cavities (his first ever!) because he has ADHD, and trying to pawn him off on a nearby pediatric dentist (who won't take 15 year olds anyway), I'm forced to find us another dental home. The dentist herself never bothered talking to me to address this issues, instead relying on the receptionist even when I had concerns about the lack of treatment. Very disappointing. read more

Great dentistry group. Not only is my hygienist wonderful but so are the dentists. They tell you what you need to have done, and if you cannot afford it, or need to space treatments out in order to make them affordable, they don't employ pressure tactics and they don't make you feel as if you are a second class patient because you don't have top of the line insurance. read more
