The school offers a genuine Montessori prepared environment with teachers that are dedicated and return year after year. The children not only learn academic skills that place them far above the performance of children at other schools, but they gain so much more from this family style/homelike setting complete with access to nature and animals. Our daughter has strengthened her sense of self-confidence, which has allowed her to develop her own personal strengths and talents. PVM also offers before/aftercare and a variety of programs (music lessons, Spanish, creative writing, art, cooking classes in full kitchen and monthly field trips). Over the past six years she has developed close friendships in a safe bully-free environment and her school has become more than a school...more like an extended family.

The principal is too soft when it comes to handling issues with students and teachers. Bullying is somewhat low in this school. My kid had free lunch last year. Now, that my youngest is in school I have to pay reduce lunch. On my youngest second day of school her teacher lost her afterschool. We came 15 minutes early. She was told to go onto a bus by that same teacher. If she had gotten off the bus she would be gone. By luck she is a smart girl and told the bus driver she was not suppose to ride the bus.

The teachers and staff truly care about each student and go above and beyond to help them grow academically and personally. The sense of community is strong, and you can feel the positive energy as soon as you walk onto campus. With the level of authority she holds, her judgment calls carry significant weight, yet many of those decisions raise serious concerns about whether they're being made in the best interest of students and staff. It's also worth noting that she encourages people to leave her positive reviews on yelp, which makes the feedback you see there feel less organic and potentially influenced. Because of this, I would take especially positive reviews with a grain of salt and consider seeking out a wider range of perspectives before forming an opinion.

Corte Sierra is one of the safest and advanced schools in my opinion. They have done amazing at being support for my son who needed speech services, all the way to bullying. Some of the teachers are original teachers from when I was in 3rd grade back in 2002/2003. I travel 14 miles to and from to get my kids to CSE and it's worth every penny.

The staff and administration present as if they thrive off parent involvement and accountability when in actuality they want the students to simply know the answers and test high, with no interaction from parents and when parents step in to seek guidance, support or clarification and attempt to hold staff and administration accountable they find any reason they can to paint the parent as the issue. Not only have I filed a police report against a teacher this year, I am now on my THIRD formal complaint with the board, have pulled my child and will be moving forward with legal steps. If you are an active, involved, and communicative parent this school will not be supportive. They focus on high score students and if your child begins to struggle in any capacity.. well it's up to your child to figure it out because 9 year olds are expected to be independent with their academic career.
