I wish I had seen these reviews before hiring them; I simply thought they were a good option. I moved from Montreal to Toronto and sent pictures of everything I had in my house. They gave me a quote, and we agreed that my belongings would arrive within 4 days. However, they were 3 days late. Each day that passed, I became more concerned, and I had to pay for another hotel night, which in Toronto was around $200 + tax per night for the cheapest option. Every time I called after the agreed-upon delivery date, they gave me an excuse. First, they apologized because the truck had broken down, then they didn't call when they said they would. I became increasingly worried about my belongings. After an additional 3 days of waiting, my things finally arrived. However, before unloading everything, they charged me double the amount that was initially agreed upon. I was almost in tears from the shock. When I asked to speak to someone, the person I spoke to wasn't Jack, but a rude guy with an Indian accent, who arrogantly told me that there was an overweight charge I had to pay if I wanted to see my belongings again. When I questioned why I had to pay double the agreed amount, he told me it wasn't his problem and that he would place my things in storage, charging me daily fees until I paid. That's when I realized it was a scam, and they had my belongings on their truck, holding them hostage to defraud me. I paid, feeling terrible, and later I discovered that there is an association of certified movers, which specifically talks about these kinds of scams and illegal actions. Starting with Jack, and then the rest of the crew at both ends, the service was professional, courteous and reliable. Everything flowed as hoped, drivers were familiar with both destinatios, there was no breakage or damage and, most importantly, there were no surprises when the final bill came in. And, as transplants, working with a company from Montreal was a positive, and streamlined the customs process. We recently moved from Montreal to toronto. Jack helped us a lot in montreal. The two people who came to pack were very helpful and considerate. Jack who helped with the overall estimate was very professional and helped with all my queries. But the trouble started when we had to receive our boxes in Toronto. The guy who was unloading the boxes gave us wrong bill. There was zero communication between people who packed our stuff and people who moved it. The guy who unpacked the bed was extremely rude and was badmouthing. There was zero respect for my boxes which had fragile pieces. Also even though i paid them to fix the wardrobe and the table, it was not done and i was charged. Extremely disappointed with the guy who delivered our boxes. read more

THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM! Do not use under any circumstance! If I could leave zero stars I would. I have never left a bad review in my life but this company deserves it. Yesterday they showed up with our boxes (my wife moved from Toronto to Los Angeles) and tried to bill us FOUR TIMES!!!! of what the initial quote was! No prior notification of the rate change despite several conversations after the quote and before delivery. No substantial backup where they got this new amount from. They did not even have the correct amount of boxes in the moving load inventory! After hours of arguing with the dispatcher (possibly owner) then proceeded to request my wife get in the moving truck with the moving drivers and they each pickup the boxes and guess the weight! Insanity and not a legal request. Even the drivers agreed the weight was not even a fraction of what they were trying to extort from us. The way they treated her was completely sexist. Truly disgusting. Threatening, un-professional, and undoubtedly the worst experience I have had not only with a moving/shipping company, but any company I have ever dealt with. This company is a disgrace. I do not take these kind of scams lightly and will be reporting them to the BBB/IABBB and proper legal authorities. read more

I just used this company to relocate from California, USA to Montreal. The movers arrived at my house in a small pick up truck and said that they would need to move all of my belongings (3 bedroom house plus living, dining and family) to their larger truck. I should have know then not to use them for long haul. We finally convinced them to bring the truck to our house located at the end of a cul de sac with ample parking to accommodate their truck. From the beginning, I was informed that I could clear our belongings once I arrived in Montreal. Then, I received a call informing me that I needed to clear my belongings a few days later...I was still in the US and said I would need to buy a plane ticket to fly there and back to make this happen. I was informed by their dispatcher that I could just leave my belongings in their container at the airport but would just have to pay a little more. He then informed me to just call him the day before I arrive in Montreal so I can arrange to have my belongings cleared. I called him the day before and was told they could not clear the goods in time for the scheduled delivery. I had to book a hotel. Not a problem, I just wish they would have communicated the process in advance. When my belongings finally did arrive, they were cramped into a small truck. I asked what happened and was told that they had to move it into a smaller truck because they needed their container. I was never informed of this change by Rick at Montreal Movers. The delivery team was not very careful when unloading our belongings and boxes marked fragile were set on their sides. Several boxes were crushed. When they unloaded our furniture, most pieces were disassembled and my husband had to assist in putting everything back together. This includes significant pieces such as a Prouve' dining table, Charles by B&B Italia bed frame and mid century modern cabinetry missing legs. Our large, steel framed mirror suffered major damage. It appears they tried to take it apart and in the process, stripped the screws holding it together. We have to try to fix it ourselves using epoxy. If it can't be fixed, it is a loss of $3500. One of our couches was bowing in the middle and we pointed it out to the delivery team. Upon closer inspection, the aluminum frame had cracked under the weight of placing something heavy on top of the frame. The leather arm of the couch was pealed from the pressure. This is a Diesis by Antonio Citterio couch. It cost $16,000 and was bought only three years ago. When I informed Rick of the damage, he said that it was not covered under their insurance policy and that I could find "similar" couches in Montreal. Why should I pay for a couch that was almost new when Montreal Movers received it and is now rubbish due to their carelessness? These movers were not inexpensive. We paid over $14,000 USD to have our house moved. I packed everything except the furniture in boxes with bubble wrap and sufficient protection to ensure no damage (only a few plates broke). It is the responsibility of their movers to wrap and protect the furniture and their negligence lead to two significant items being damaged. read more

I inadvertently gave them 4 stars instead of 5. Very professional, especially the owner Rick, and seriously organized. I called Montreal Movers to get a copy of our final bill for tax purposes. It's hard to gauge service when shopping online, and I know that I often rely on reviews before making a purchase.  Montreal Movers were simple enough to deal with. They were prompt in returning calls, and answered all my questions. I didn't feel rushed at all. I have just used this company to relocate my apartment from US to Montreal, and I have a terrible experience. I used once US local moving company, and they were awesome, fast, exact, I had to pay the exact amount what we agreed. The Montreal Movers were nowhere close to that. I picked them because they gave me a reasonable quota for a 1 br apartment relocation. Until the they came to pick up my stuff everything looked normal. The driver arrived on time, but alone, and he was not able to get a local help for hours, so he had to move my stuff alone, sometimes it was necessary I helped him. Because of that it took 4 hours to empty my place. The local help showed up for the last hour only. They had to use a shuttle because the street was not wide enough for the big truck. They took my stuff on a Friday, I flew to Montreal on the next day. I got the paper work back on Monday with the instruction I have to go to Canada custom to declare my stuff. I did it on Tuesday morning, it took 5 min, I got a stamp that the moving company required, I sent it back to them. Earlier they promised a Wednesday delivery. Later on it turned out I didn't get one paper from custom, which was never mentioned earlier. So the delivery was delayed to Thursday. When I asked what was the problem or what could I did to make it faster the answer was always "I don't know". Finally they scheduled my delivery for Thursday, and I got my final invoice 1000.00 CAD more expensive than the quote. They charged 600.00 CAD for the shuttle and because "they" were loading my stuff for 7 hours. I called the guy and told him, that for 600.00 CAD renting a normal size track (U-HAUL) for 7 hours its a bit overpriced. He said it was 150.00 for the truck. I told him if he payed 450.00 for the one and half guy for 7 hours I wanted to work for him. And they charged 60.00 for tv packing, which never happened, they used my own box for that. I understand moving from US to Canada is not cheap, but there is a reason you ask for a quote, and based on that and some review that you can find online, you pick your choice.
