You can find good…read moreteaching and great worship at all sorts of churches throughout Los Angeles but It's unique to find a community of people that really care about each other, especially in a city this size. Since first walking through the door back in January of 2020, it's amazing how many friendships I've formed and how much we truly care about each other. There's also great representation across the generations here and we're all comfortable talking to each other despite that. I love seeing babies through 95 year olds throughout the church. The teaching here is Bible-based, lively, and motivating to go be light and hope in an increasingly needing world. The worship sets are thoughtful and encourage experiencing God generally with songs from known churches like Bethel and Elevation but also digging back into the past tastefully to make sure all generations are represented. Services on a Sunday morning generally run roughly 90 minutes. There's kids church and a parent area for babies and during the course of the week there are connection points with prayer meetings, Bible studies, youth, and a large AWANA program on Wednesdays for kids. I've loved calling this church home for the past year and feel it gets better and better each year.

The pastor, Scott Wood, is passionately devoted to Christ and to his church, and I actually look forward to Sunday morning services! (I personally enjoy the early service at 9 am with traditional hymns, but the services at 10:30 am and noon offer contemporary worship music.) Come for a visit. Pastor Solomon consistently gives sermons that are as good as, or better than, any I have ever seen or heard. The entire community has been incredibly welcoming, earnest, and show their dedication to one another. We spend time together after sermons, enjoying lunch, group discussions, and some of us will get together to play basketball. The worship also includes beautiful music.

I'm sorta thinking that any church in Los Angeles needs to be hyper-vigilant about speaking out against prototypical Los Angeles New Age practices that were kicked out of the church in the first century (Read Irenaeus). If you fit into the club you enjoy it. If not then not. My mother attends this church, and I have gone a couple times. It used to seem harmless and good for her. Now, it has changed. Pastor has changed, he is nothing like Andy. Also, a woman named Nancy who seems to be considered worthy there at LCPC, that has been talking a lot to my 92 year old mother with dementia. Nancy seems to believe she can come into our family matters, and coerced my mother with overdue force to take me out of my house away from from mother without any provocation. I have taking care of my mom for over 3 years now. This person has never been very helpful or present in Mom's life till very recently and her advice has been aggressive and intrusive and absolutely not near a Christian way to behave! Public should beware...if this "Deacon" Nancy, and that new pastor, Yousef are representative of the values and moral obligations of Christians in general in our community, we all should be appalled. Shame on them. Dividing a family, creating havoc instead of peace, allowing and with force putting one more homeless person on the street. Does any of that sound Christian like? Horrible. Don't go here! It's not where Jesus would go, or get close to. Run away

I've also participated in their Metaphysical and Healing Faires as an exhibitor which was a terrific experience. Everything they do at CSL-LC is supportive, considerate and healing. I am impressed by Rev. Beverly's open minded approach to spiritual growth, which is echoed by all of the staff, volunteers and community members. It feels a little strange reviewing a church, but someone had to speak up…read more.. This isn't a Catholic Church, it's a conversation pit. I'd never been to this parish before but went for a Saturday night vigil because of a schedule conflict, and what I witnessed was appalling, yet had all the appearance of common practice here. I walked in fifteen minutes before the start of Mass and was first shocked, then outraged, at multiple, loud, sustained conversations taking place at once throughout the congregation. It felt like I was sitting in the bleachers at a baseball game, or in a restaurant bar waiting for a table. Do these people not understand where they are? That they have a responsibility to show some self-discipline and a measure of reverence and respect for a consecrated church while they're inside it? That basic consideration for others, at the very least, might suggest that they not hobnob casually about the events of their mornings at the top of their lungs while those others are trying to, oh, maybe collect their thoughts in prayer? That maybe they should be doing the same? They quieted down (a little,) for the actual service, but the talking would periodically start anew, to the point that it was frequently difficult even to hear the priest. Later the full conversations resumed in earnest, and at volume, during what is supposed to be the period of post-communion silence. Another jarring bit of gross disrespectfulness was a guy a few pews in front of me who was wearing a hoodie jacket emblazoned with a huge, menacing skull and the phrase "The Few, The Proud, The Insane." I and everybody else behind him had to stare at this thing for the whole service. Here's a family man (his wife and kids were standing there with him,) and he doesn't have the sense of decency to wear something more respectful of the church he's in than that thing? What kind of example is he setting for his youngsters? What kind of example of respectful dress, or even basic consideration for others, is he showing to everyone else? As above, since I haven't been here before I have no idea if it was always this way, but right now this parish is a disgrace. There is just zero respect for the sanctity of the church here. None. One wonders why these people even bother to pull themselves out of their living rooms or off of their front porches, when they know that pesky Mass is going get in the way of their conversations so often. It's like entering a street market that just happens to have a priest up front making inaudible sounds amid the hubbub.
