I appreciate the hard work that goes on in a restaurant, so I'm always hesitant to write a bed review, but the lack of awareness and care during our visit on May 22nd 2026 was sad and frustrating. We ordered one pizza half cheese and half pepperoni and we sat in the restaurant with empty tables all around us and waited for more than an hour to get our pizza. When we followed up we were shrugged off and our pizza wasn't even in the oven. No apologies, no accountability for the poor service... just a lady in the back scolding a young employee for not charging me for a ranch cup that I requested for the appetizer chicken fingers I bought for my two kids under the age of 10 who were patiently waiting. I love supporting local and small businesses, but this was so disappointing. I hope they see this and do a better job to take care of families who come in the door and are spending their hard earned money with them and not Pizza Hut right across the parking lot. read more

50-minute wait for pizzas - lots of online orders probably due to the college football games on TV and the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Cashier wasn't outright mean, but let's say she didn't seem like she wanted to be working. You order at the counter and they bring your food to your table. Chicken Parmesan sub was pretty good - hot fresh, good crispy chicken, nice roll. Fries are the default side and they were nice and crispy, well salted. Came in for grinders and brew. Ordered Stromboli just the way they make it and it was on point! Crunch on the outside fluffy on the outside. Mozzarella stretched all the way to Colorado Springs. I only wish they had pitchers on tap and more sports on TV. I know it's not a sports bar but advertising this would bring in more business for sure. Other than that the food and beverage is killer!!! We got 2 pizzas and a Philly cheesesteak sandwich that I had to add onions and peppers to for an extra cost. The sandwich was 100% flavorless. Like nothing. Fascinatingly disgusting. The pizza was both chewy and undercooked accompanied by a burnt bottom, again fascinatingly disgusting. In my husband's words the bacon was 'twerking' in his mouth. All fat, undercooked and again, fascinatingly disgusting. I am happy to spend $70 for very little food as long as it is delicious. This borderline made me sick. Don't eat there. I hate giving anything less then 4 stars but I was disappointed. The customer service was ok and the place was clean. The price for the taste and quality was not justified. We did come for the CBD infused pizza, you have to pay an up charge for the CBD which was fine. But again just a little disappointed with the quality with the price. read more

The pizza is really great if you don't mind not knowing when you'll get it if at all. Every single time I have ordered online, including a few of my friends orders, it seems like the restaurant just doesn't check their online orders so when you call they don't know what you're talking about so I go in showing them the email receipt of the order and they go looking and "find" the order and then start making it. The lesson is just don't bother ordering online and go there to order in person and just wait for it to be done, however long that is. To be honest, having been in college myself, I have a suspicion the employees are using more of the CBD than the customers are. That's part joke, part serious. read more

Zero stars! Gave it three tries. This last visit (on Mother's Day) was the worst. Ruined our pizza, made us wait 30 minutes for another and then sent us home with ICE cold ravioli. Not just got cold after cooking but seriously they must have not even baked it. And we had to pay $40 for the pleasure of having no dinner on Mother's Day. How can a pizza be dry? It was so dry you couldn't enjoy it. Little to no sauce, but worse, the crust was hard and dry. There is just no other way to say it. How do you make a dry pizza? It has to be a skill I am not aware of. Dry, lousy, stale, very little toppings low on cheese and made wrong. This all spells one thing, (ok maybe 2 things) First, I won't be back, and second I will let everyone know what I think of the $30.00 dry pie. May I suggest a new name for the place? I know that businesses are supposed to do this, but we've all been to a spot where the crew wasn't thrilled with a last customer coming through the door because they wanted to close and leave. Not at all at Monument Pies & Grinders. Great and friendly service! And when I got to my place, the pie was still hot and tasted great! I spent 20 minutes explaining my order (and telling the employee what specialty pizzas they had). Once my husband went to pick it up, they were missing the cheese pizza (we had two pizzas). When my husband explained we were missing a pizza, the employee shrugged her shoulders and said it didn't make it on the order. No apology, no attempt to correct it. Nice to have a traditional pizza and grinder restaurant in town! Pizza was good! LOTS of toppings!! Prices are great! Had a Philly steak with Whiz and enjoyed it!! I'll ask for double meat next time to make it more like the Philadelphia originals. Their rolls are PERFECT!! Fries were hot and nicely seasoned .... not too much not too little!! We had a Caesar and a side salad. Nice size for the price!!! The staff was very helpful and friendly. Came around to check on us. Service was fast considering it's pizza made to order. I ordered a pan pizza and the crust was paper thin. I wouldn't order from there again. They advertise New York style pizza but it was far from it I wanted a pan style pizza and got the New York style as a pan pizza. Pan pizza isn't usually that thin. read more

I've been a customer of this location and others for a few years and today I've had a horrific experience tonight while ordering a delivery order. I placed an order through their website, was told the wait would be about 1-2 hours which wasn't an issue to me. What becomes an issue is that apparently the last time the delivery driver came to my address, they got lost and had to call me several times, and the driver was nowhere to be found each time they called me and eventually I received my food. When the driver came, I was detecting he was under the influence of alcohol or drugs as he had slurred speech and would tweak while speaking. So because he couldn't find my address the last time Linda the representative in Monument has cancelled my order abruptly without any further explanation. I told her that there's hundreds of residents here at my apartment, how are we supposed to get delivery from a restaurant less then 3 miles away? Linda hung up on me so I called back to ask when I'd receive a refund. She then said it was cancelled so the refund will come soon. And then I called back after being hung up again to try and compassionately get an explanation of the situation. She was extremely rude and never once offered to make the food for pickup, she never apologized to me. Instead she threatened the Monument Police on me. Shame on you Linda and shame on your business practices for trying to erase your customer base based on which customers you want to serve based on how your feeling that day. I've never met someone so unhinged! I will tell everyone I know here in town to avoid your business until I'm apologized to and I may consider business with you again. Unacceptable! read more

We ordered a couple pizzas one night for dinner. The pizza was nothing to write home about, especially when compared to the amount of time one must wait to get your order. It was nearly two hours from the time we pleased the order til we got our food, for a pick up order! This isn't some Chicago deep dish style where I'd expect a one hour bake. This is NY style pizza. We have been regular customers for 3 years. Last week our driver had an accident delivering our food. We asked how the driver was doing twice and reordered the food. It was delivered after my bedtime. At delivery, my husband again asked how the driver was. When I spoke to the General Manager the next day, I was treated as if I had made a mistake. My experience at pies and grinders had been satisfactory until recently. I ordered three pizzas, as we do regularly, and they made the pizza thin crust versus regular pan crust. The manager, who could not be bothered to talk to me, grudgingly told the cashier that they could remake my order but it was clear that they wanted me to take the wrong order. This is the second or third time in the last 6 weeks that issues have been found with my order, so I will be looking for other places to spend my money. It's really a shame, it used to be such an efficient and excellent operation (even during the middle of the pandemic) but they don't seem to care anymore. read more

What a disappointment! I was craving pizza, specifically "pan" pizza. Decided to try the new place. For those that remember the previous place you will recognize that nothing has changed, there are more tvs and less art, same booths, same dirty floors and I would swear that includes same the staff. The guy that greeted us was tossing dough, with a phone tucked into the crock of his neck taking orders. He encouraged us to take a menu and have a seat while we looked over the menu, but they will not take you order table side..you have to go up front and place your order. Seems like a cop out, especially since they have big container out for tips, tips for what? When placing my order I asked about the pan pizza and was assured it was a "true pan" pizza. Ordered cheese sticks, large caesar salad and a 18" pan pizza. I was directed to the serve yourself fountain for drinks. Stacks of damp red cups sitting next to the same fountain in the same place, waiting for you to pry them apart and fill yourself. The 'guy' (not the greeter & not a server) dropped the salad and cheesesticks and said, "forks are over there...but let me get em for you" kind of snarky like. He retrived a hand ful of plastic, bulk folks from a bin by the soda fountain. I try not to think about how many hands have been in the bin or where those hands might have been. Our caesar salad was served on a pizza pan, a layer of romaine with almost the same amount of croutons...hard, break a tooth hard, croutons, crunchy parm shreds and a meager amount of dressing. Bonus there were smaller pizza pans to divide it up on. The cheese sticks were hot and gooey, not bad for sysco. The sauce they came with was amazingly flavorless, and I mean flavorless. My son resorted to catsup for flavor. After watching several people place orders for take out, come and go, and over hearing the "guy" explain to another customer that half of the order he came to pick up had actually been sent out with the delivery "guy" by mistake. And worried that our pizza may have been sent with delivery guy too, we approached the counter to inquire if our pizza would be coming soon? It had been 45 minutes. "No" it was immediately pointed out that "it had only been 35 minutes" and a pan pizza takes longer after all. Ok it is pan so it takes longer, but wait it isn't a pan pizza...it is a thin crust pizza cooked in a pan. The only difference is the crust has been turned up all around the pan so you have a 2" lip of a crust. It was no thicker, it did not have more toppings and it did not resemble any pan pizza I have ever had ( I did confirm that it was in fact their version of a pan). Not a pan pizza! The toppings were adequate, nothing to get excited about, and I truely believe the onions may have turned because they had a "chemically" after taste but there were so few of them that it was hard to be sure it could have been a soapy pan. The crust is an improvement on the previous crust, and cooking it in the pan did ensure that it was crisp but it is not even close to a NY crust. And once again the sauce brought absolutely nothing to the party. It lacks salt, garlic, basil, oregano, seriously it is red, thats it. Overall, the new place is no better than it was and there is a reason the once sucessful business dwindled to nothing over the 10 years we watched, remember when it would take 2 hours to get a pizza delivered on a Friday night? And we would wait. Monument needs a good family pizza place, and it could be/has been in this location but not with zero improvements over the previously unsuccessful formula. Too bad. P.S. We are east coast transplants (my husband is from NY and went to college in Chicago) we know good pizza. read more
