Spent the last night in Colorado with the pleasure to dine in at probably the best pizza spot in all of Colorado! Found Papa Bear through Yelp and saw the great reviews so I had to try it myself..and I was not disappointed!! Don't be fooled by the "emptyness" in the photo, this was a Sunday night and they were almost closing! The owner was nice enough to let us dine despite them almost closing for the night. I got a half margherita pizza and half olive. Pizza took about 25 minutes to come out which is totally normal for fresh pizza!! It was absolutely delicious!! You can seriously taste the freshness in the ingredients, the dough was absolutely perfect with the perfect crunch with every bite as well as baked to perfection. You can tell that this pizza is cooked in the correct old school style... We had the pleasure to meet the owner, Nicholas and he was a great person to chat with! He mentioned that he worked for Michelin star restaurants for a very long time and I can tell..his pizza is certainly the BEST! I was in the mood for pizza and decided to give Papa Bear Pizza a try. Called in the order and the owner said it would be ready at 7:30. Went in and rang the bell at 7:29 and was presented with a Boulder Pizza that was hot, fresh, and delicious. You can't sit down and eat, not when we arrived there. It was really confusing and frustrating, actually. I was trying to talk to the person working the counter and it was so extremely difficult to talk to him/them. I don't know if was the owner, seem like it, and gosh -- can we just Q&A properly, normally, simply in that 1-2 sequence? It was such a hard conversation trying to understand what was going on with this place. It was a rough experience just walking in and starving we, of course, left. Also, update Google, your website, all they ways that NEW customers find you so that they understand they CAN'T eat here and you are ONLY doing takeout as there is certainly space and seating to eat it. We absolutely love getting pizzas from Papa Bear! We've never had a bad one, and love trying the Chef's Specials based on what's in season! It isn't a big chain and is locally owned, so know that when you order that they only make a certain amount of dough per day, so plan ahead. Additionally, usually there is only 1-2 people working in there, so don't wait and think you'll get a pizza in 20 minutes. We call ahead to schedule our pickup for later in the day, which helps them to plan. Really awesome people and so happy to have such a great pizza place close by in Monument! read more

I know not everyone appreciates food quality and realizes you pay a little extra for it. However this is some great pizza. No leaving the crust at the end dip it olive oil to finish off the slice, great flavor. The Greek was fantastic flavor combination. They have several unique pies or build your own. The salad has great ingredients but have to come home and chop it all up as still in big pieces. Not recommended to dine in as very bare bones restaurant. Service is not overly friendly but efficient as pretty much just counter service. My go to for pizza pick up! read more

Great organic pizza with fresh ingredients. We had a 1/2 cheese, 1/2 mushroom and a mile hi Hawaiian. The mile high was so good! They use fresh pineapple. I also liked that the pizza was not greasy at all. A large pizza is not that large. So plan accordingly. The other thing to know is that you need to call ahead. Papa Bear has brought this wonder to southern Colorado. Each pizza is made with the best authentic, fresh ingredients. You can tell the heart in each bite. We got the Twin Sisters and Hawaiian for 3 people, we had enough leftovers for another meal. Papa Bears markets themselves as to-go pizza. Just because it's meant as take out and there's Papa in the name, don't confuse it with the likes of Papa John's (nothing against them, makes great work meeting food). Papa BEAR is artisanal, therefore, expect to spend more than your average takeout. You can dine in, there's only counter service. The building stands out among the residential background. Although it's an old building, you could tell it was well taken care of, everything looked new. I'd describe the atmosphere as romantic casual (if that's a thing), pretty lights align the ceiling and the booths can provide an intimate setting. There's an outside patio that I can see myself chilling in during the summer time. It's also connected to an art gallery so you can admire some art as you wait for your pizza. There is a little wait, especially if you walk in and don't call ahead. There's a limited amount of dough each day and most of them are reserved few hours ahead. I highly recommend calling ahead to preorder. There's a small parking area in the front and plenty around the neighborhood. I will be definitely be back if I'm in this part of Colorado. read more

They source all their meats cheeses and vegetables from the best places they can find. And yes you can absolutely tell the difference! It was so dang good that I have given it 5 stars just for the pizza alone not even the customer service was accounted for in this rating. This was a rare weekend indeed. We went to Papa Bear Pizza twice! First was the Cali-rado pizza. A pizza flooded with avocado! If you're a fan of all things avocado, you have to try this out. The avocado/cilantro sauce is an understatement. There are no less that 20 ingredients in this sauce and it's a must try. We also had a fail-safe Twin Sisters (which I consider a pepperoni pizza that goes to 11. Then we met another couple there and had a combo Mount Massive and BLT. This a sweet mom and pop pizza place with specialty pies that you can tell are made with care and love. The crust tastes homemade. The topping ingredients are WONDERFUL. The only downside is I'd like to have more toppings for the price. I like toppings with every bite and I didn't always get that. The 1876 has a good smattering of toppings. The pizza was good, but I wasn't blown away. The big turn off is how difficult it is to order. Having to call at 1pm if you want your first choice in pickup time. I felt like that may have raised my expectations for the pizza too. We called at 2:30 and were told the first available pickup time left was 6:30. We didn't order anything fancy, just the Durango. Maybe we need to give it a second go and try something fancier. The flavors were good, I wasn't a huge fan of the crust (which is what I was most excited for). Overall, we have another pizzeria near us that we actually like their pizza better and can order on a Friday night with a 45ish min lead time. Ok.. So there is pizza, then there is Papa Bear Pizza. We found this place years ago when we moved up to the north end and since that time, it has been the go to for pizza. The crust is unlike anything you have ever had as it is made from a 100 year old starter and the ingredients are premium, non-gmo, organic and sourced from the best farms and local as much as possible.
