Alex was wonderful to work with at all times, always responsive and had great ideas. Great knowledge of City of Irvine and HOA rules and inspection requirements helped keep the project on schedule. The challenge was to make it a comfortable lounge and entertaining space and provide safety for our young child. Ross came up with a genius design to satisfy our requests and his team was responsible and reliable. It was so much more practical to have the person designing it also be the one carrying out the project. Ross personally worked on a lot of the project as well as guided the team first-hand to make sure it was executed properly and completed to our requests. The pergola and Spanish steps are my favorite, with the 'French curve' of the concrete/grass as a close second. (Not pictured: a kid space, softscaping and good looking, useful solution to the intense slope.) Best of all, he stayed on budget! I hired Genesis Stoneworks to install pavers in our backyard approximately five to six years ago…read more Unfortunately, the pavers looked wavy and uneven from very early on, and the problems continued and worsened over the years. We repeatedly tried to address the unevenness. For years, Fernando--whom we understood to be associated with Genesis and working as their Orange County foreman--came to our property with workers to make repairs. We paid thousands of dollars over time for these repeated corrections. Each time, we were told that the movement and unevenness were caused by the large trees in our backyard. Eventually, we learned that the repair work Fernando was performing and charging us for was apparently being done independently rather than through Genesis. This was extremely concerning because we had believed we were dealing with someone through the company. When I mentioned the situation to Roger, the owner, he appeared surprised. This year, after years of being told that our trees were responsible, we removed three large trees from the backyard. We then discovered that the explanation we had been given did not match what was found. We hired another company to redo the pavers, and once everything was removed, we were told there were no tree roots underneath causing the problem. Instead, we were advised that the base had been improperly prepared and that the installation/workmanship was the underlying problem. Before hiring another company, I contacted Roger directly. He gave me his cell phone number, asked me to send photographs of the uneven pavers, and told me he would send someone to assess the situation and address the work. My husband and I followed up several times, but our calls were not returned and, despite that promise, no one came to inspect or correct the problem. After years of repeated repairs, thousands of dollars in additional expenses, removal of three large trees, and ultimately having to hire another company to redo the work, this has been an extremely disappointing and costly experience. Based on our personal experience with the installation, the repeated problems, the repair situation, and the lack of follow-through when we contacted the owner, I cannot recommend Genesis Stoneworks. I would strongly encourage anyone considering this company to carefully research the installation process, base preparation, warranty, and exactly who is authorized to perform any future repair work before proceeding.
