Average on pricing, stones are from the same place most other places get their pavers as well however customer service and professionalism is severely lacking. The sales person is friendly, the owner not so much. He came for his installment checks, but did very little in communication to us or his Spanish only speaking crew (who are subcontractors). When we tried to get the crew to level the pavers in a particular way or even talk about how drains should be placed we were threatened by Dieter and his crew to walk off the job or simply ignore our requests. Guys ended up having to redo some of their work since they didn't follow a blue print we made for them. My advice is go elsewhere. Reviews don't seem consistent service here. read more

Ocean Pavers did a wonderful job on my property. My front yard looked run down and tired. They gave me an estimate that was fair and once I got my HOA approval for the project, they were prompt with getting the work started. No delays or excuses about when they could start--they were out within the following week and they got cracking. Demo took about 2 days and once that was done, they were laying the pavers across my front yard, courtyard and side of my house right after. We even did a new front porch by eliminating a few small pillars that we decided on the fly. This enabled them to re-work my porch design. It all turned out sweet. The following week, on the day they agreed to do it, they laid down my artificial turf, and it looks great just like the pavers. All along the way, when there were issues, they worked with me to revise the job and bring it to my satisfaction. There was even a small repair that was needed based on a leaking irrigation pipe (which they agreed to take on as their fault because of the driveway demo) and they came out and fixed that problem timely. The dates/times for the project were met, the quality was high, and the entire finished project looks awesome. It should always be like this: two parties working together, respecting each other's time, meeting their commitments to each other to do what they say they will each do. Dieter and his crews did a phenomenal job replacing my 20-year old paver patio that was being destroyed by tree roots. I also had them tear out my old sod and install artificial turf. They were fast, extremely efficient and the entire project was competitively priced. They took out the invasive tree roots that popped up my old pavers, leveled out my yard and patio, and now the entire yard drains exceptionally well. Paver and turf samples were delivered quickly from different vendors after the design process. For those wondering, I chose the 60-ounce lime green turf as opposed to the olive green turf and I love it. For a project of this size and scope, I was surprised to encounter only a couple of very minor glitches, which were resolved immediately, and overall the project went seamlessly. Deter did one fabulous job on our backyard patio. It was an old 6 inch thick colored concrete with pebble coating on top. The weep line of the stucco had been covered with the concrete, not allowing the stucco to breath, which is code. His team Demo'd the entire existing patio and hauled it up 20 steps to the street level. The crew was not only excellent at what they do, but were immaculate on their clean up. Our neighborhood was very pleased with their cleanliness, and thanked us for that. They installed a beautiful Belgard Paver, that was in a small pattern with 4 different paver sizes. He suggested that the smaller pattern would be better than a larger one. It is perfect, it took 4 days with demo total for the project start to finish. We just finished having our whole front landscape redone by Ocean Pavers and the whole process from start to finish was first rate! We originally planned to do only part of the yard (pavers on pathway, side and artificial turf) but decided to then also add on the driveway after seeing the result as we were so pleased with how it turned out. We had contacted several other contractors before OP but they either never responded or didn't follow up after coming out to take a look, probably because it wasn't a particularly large job. However, from our original contact with OP, Chad was very responsive, taking time to answer every question, making suggestions, giving us choices, sending us pictures and samples with no pressure to move forward. Always showed up on time, followed up, just very professional from start to finish. Seemed like a very reasonably priced estimate and, given the quality of service and workmanship, was well worth it. The construction process went as smoothly as the estimate with workers on time, quality work not just on the paving, but also on the artificial turf installation. Dieter, the owner, was accessible throughout the process and took time to make sure everything was completed to our satisfaction with attention to every detail. Despite not being a large job, it never seemed rushed with emphasis more on producing a quality outcome. I am new to San Clemente so I have to start over when it comes to picking contractors for our household projects. I felt a bit nervous when choosing a company to install pavers (and a wall). This was a big project for us and I wanted to make sure we chose a reputable company that was going to provide excellent service and Ocean Pavers did not disappoint. They were amazing from start to finish. Brad came to our house and gave us what I thought was a fair estimate. It was not the highest or lowest but based on my research (my vetting process is extensive - I always research companies on CA consumer affairs, better business bureau etc...) they seemed like the best choice. I value responsiveness and both Chad and Dieter excelled in this department. I have found that responsiveness is not a trait that most contractors possess. Rarely do I get a response to my email or text in the same day but with Dieter he always responded to my questions. He kept me in the loop every day. I always knew where I stood with the project. As I said, I place a high value on responsiveness. His crew was very professional, they cleaned up at the end of the day and always asked my opinion if needed. I interviewed about 8 contractors and decided on Ocean Pavers. I had about 2000 sq ft of pool deck concrete to demo and I also wanted red brick coping removed and replaced. I thought Ocean Pavers provided me the best value with their experience working so close to my pool and the size crew they offered cutting the job time down compared to some others. Dieter was great to work with and his crews were on time, and worked full 6 days a week and completed in just 2 weeks. My wife and I had originally picked Orco Borrego Modulo, but when we met Dieter on the first day of demo we changed. He gave us some referrals to visit and suggested Orco Borrego Pietra because we wouldn't have the larger stone size to deal with when grading toward our drains and in a close walkway. Using a smaller size set finished up nicely and I'm grateful he counseled us on that. The one caveat to their incredibly fast work is some issues pop up and you need to kind of keep an eye and communicate so everybody stays on the same page. Overall, we love the end result and the incredible speed which they completed it. I would definitely include Ocean Pavers in your evaluations for a contractor. read more

Beware! If they don't do a good job they will attempt to terminate your contract. Know your rights! That is what happened to us. Pavers not installed correctly per ICPI guidelines. Our driveway looks like a skatepark..actually worse. No Supervision, only excuses after excuses. The owner is a nice guy don't get me wrong but that doesn't help me with a wavy driveway. Dig alert called two days after starting which resulted in loss of phone lines for thirty days and water line damaged. I am sure writing this will get his attention and not in a good way but we picked him for installation due to the reviews. Every driveway is different in size and look but this was just wrong. Yes the company has done a lot of driveways, etc, as per his website but were they installed correctly or were the homeowners just not aware of their rights? read more

We made a great choice with Ocean Pavers for our backyard project; demolition and installation of about 1100 sq. feet of pavers. I do a lot of online research. I look at company websites, Houzz, Yelp, etc. We ended up meeting with five companies as a result of my research. I first met Dave with Ocean Pavers in late 2016. He was far and away the most responsive and consultative adviser I met with which goes a long way in my book. I had a rough idea what I wanted but Dave took the time to actually write down design ideas on the spot, which no other vendor did. When you meet with potential vendors, you want to get a realistic idea how it would be to work with these folks. Dieter, who owns Ocean Pavers, was also great to work with. He was promptly onsite when demolition started and throughout the project. It was obvious that he, Dave and the rest of the team work very well together. Communicating with Dave and Dieter onsite or via phone/text was very easy and if they were busy, a call was always promptly returned. We committed to the project in late March. Once I got association approval, the Ocean Pavers team was onsite within a couple business days. They were some of the hardest working guys I've ever seen. Best of all, these guys were so respectful and nice to my family. Though you want to get construction done and things back to normal, we really enjoyed having them here. My neighbors were equally impressed with their professionalism and work ethic. As a result, they are exploring a project with Ocean Pavers. The finished product is something I'm very proud of. The pricing was very competitive and reasonable, considering how much material, time and effort is involved. I will be recommending Ocean Pavers to friends and family.
