Visiting the area for a short weekend. We stopped in for breakfast. Food was tasty. Drinks were tasty. Ling was long but it moved quickly. Limited seating so be flexible/patient. Staff is very friendly.

    Everything seasoned feta scone

What a lovely little hidden gem! Apart of a larger building, this little cafe has such a cozy interior with super friendly vibes and great service! I stopped here looking for a little snack, and was met with some very delicious and unique sounding pastries! I went with the everything seasoned feta scone and it was out of this world! Super fluffy and the perfect treat! I was also so tempted by the amazing variety of drinks and fresh made dishes this place has to offer, and I will certainly be back if I'm in the area again. Marblehead has such a cute downtown and I would definitely recommend stopping at Mookie's while you explore, either to relax with friends and family, or sit and get some work done.

Walked in, ordered, had my drinks in hand before I finished putting my wallet away. Best (possibly only) matcha in town. Cute town to walk through while drinking a refreshing beverage! Offers vegan pastries as well.

I love Mookie's! When I'm away from home, I love seeking out the local cafes. Mookie's at Mugford is a gem of a cafe and I adore that its named after a dog (the same dog that graces their logo). I liked Mookie's so much I came more than once. Like all of Marblehead, there's limited street parking, but if you arrive before 10am, you'll get a spot. I immediately resonated with the nautical vibes, including the oceanic themed wallpaper, kayaking paddles, and wooden whales. There's some cozy couch seating, a few deep sit chairs, and standard tables and chairs. The space also flows into the adjoining wine shop and patrons can sit anywhere. They have avocado toast and yogurt parfaits (no longer serving breakfast sandwiches). Their menu has standard coffee and tea beverages as well as a nitro cold brew. My matcha latte hit the spot and my vanilla chai latte was perfect on a dreary day. If you're there on a nice fall day, it's a great spot to sit outside (just 2 small bistro tables) and people watch. Also, the staff is amazing. They are so kind and funny and love to tell you about their dogs. Those are my kind of people.

Egg n cheese fry up on english muffin

Wonderful. The english muffin was not generic store bought kind - it was soft, warmed perfectly with a smooth pita like texture on top. Could they be making their own E. muffins? Why didnt it taste grainy and rubbery? I dont know because i cant talk before coffee. This place has Fried eggs, friendly service, great scones and pastries and Downeast coffee in a cozy, boutique cafe. It seems tourists and thr neighborhood alike gather here in the morning. Friendly vibe, good food, walkable from/to harbor!

OG breakfast sandwich with Turkey sausage on sesame bagel
    Erin R.

All around winner! Due to COVID, I wasn't able to go inside but food, location, and price are fantastic! I got the OG breakfast sandwich - 2 eggs, Turkey sausage, on a sesame bagel and it was delicious! Served very hot, the bagel was delicious and just the way to start any morning! The crumb cake muffin was also delicious - perfectly cinnamon and crunchy! You can't beat the price either - not bad at all! I will definitely be back to try more. Tried a few bites of a blueberry scone and the OG sandwich on a croissant - both of these were also on point! If your visiting the area, a stroll through old town and a stop at Mookies for breakfast, a snack or coffee are absolutely necessary!

I love nachos and I love BLTs, and it's amazing how many places have managed to not do these two things well. I have never been able to find a place that can make a good BLT, until now! I needed a quick lunch today and went here on a whim because it was close by. I saw they were closing soon, but there were people inside so I headed in. Sometimes small, local coffee shops can feel drafty or unkempt or just lifeless. As soon as I walked in, I felt like I'd want to sit there for hours. The temperature was just right, and the ambiance felt friendly and warm. I acknowledged that they were closing soon and asked if I could still order a sandwich. They replied in a way that felt welcoming, and not like I was imposing on them (which some places, 15 minutes prior to closing, would have). I ordered the BLT and used the restroom while I waited. Even the restroom was pleasant! I sat in one of the two window bays on a comfortable stool (again, perfect! sometimes they're way too high for a 4'10" to get up on, or off), with a complimentary cup of water (I love when cafes have serve yourself water). One of the servers brought my sandwich over and even on first glance I could tell it was going to be good. No wilted lettuce, no weird bread, perfect amount of mayo and bacon. It was the best BLT I've had at a restaurant, even better than I make at home. So, 5 stars for great ambiance, friendly, unrushed service, and a great BLT! I have no doubt that their other food is just as good.

Very small, intimate place only open for brunch hours next door to the Marblehead little theatre. Also tried the pumpkin spice latte. Another win. The actual coffee shop section only fits 8 ppl at a time, so a line can form quickly. There's no seating inside the coffee shop, but it's def perfect to grab a cup of hot coffee while you walk around in the cold. I ordered the blueberry cobbler latte (seasonal), but I was worried about it being too sweet. The barista said she could make it half sweet for me. Oh my goshhhh it was perfect half sweet!

That was pretty much the vibe, although there were fewer seasonal / spooky themed menu items than I would have guessed. There was a strong emphasis on pumpkin and fall drinks offered, which I'm not looking for in July. There is no separate entrance, you have to go through the Blackcraft clothing store. It's fun to look at and has some funky things - I've always wanted to check out the store anyways - but it smelled like moth balls to me which was wild for a clothing store, so I felt like I already had that smell in my nose while I was waiting for coffee and taking the first sips - not ideal. Service was pretty quick and kind of friendly. I got the Midsummer Latte, which was mostly raspberry flavored. It was the perfect level of sweet, but got a little weird tasting as it warmed up a little as I walked around the city in a heat wave, so make sure you drink this one pretty quick for the best effect! The freeze dried raspberry pieces on top were so tart and tangy, they'd catch me off guard every time I got one in my mouth but in a fun way! It made the flavor more authentic. The decor in the coffee shop was very fun, as were their take home coffee bag brew names (ex: Labrewbrew, lol!) It's a small coffee area and seemingly had no air conditioning, I was getting sweaty just standing around for the few short minutes it took to get my drink. I kept thinking the poor baristas must be so uncomfortable. Pricing was on the higher side ($9 and change including a tip for a medium ish sized specialty latte), but for such a touristy area I was (begrudgingly) expecting this. Overall I'd love to try it again, maybe next time getting the featured caramel apple drink that sounded good. Like a lot of places in Salem I experienced, it seems like they're just not super equipped for heat wave temperatures unfortunately.
