We have stayed at Moon Palace twice. Once in November of 2024 and again in November of 2025. Please note that this review will be focused specifically on our 2025 visit as when we visited in 2024 we were guests of members so our accessibility and experience was slightly different. We landed and grabbed our bags. Found the Palace transportation quickly and we only waited about 25-20 minutes for our bus/van to arrive. The hotel is only about 10 minutes from the airport which is really nice. Check in was easy. We took advantage of the digital pre check- in using the app and it certainly seemed like a smooth and quick check in. We were greeted with fresh flowers and they gave the kids gummy bears which was a nice gesture. The staff was very friendly and courteous. We were offered an upgrade to ocean front. Using the voucher, we did not have an option of choosing anything but garden view so it was nice to have the upgrade offered. It did come with a price tag though. I am not sure if it was really a deal, but we opted for the upgraded view because it is nice to see the ocean at night from your balcony once the kids are asleep. It was kind of annoying to be hit up for a significant chunk of change right off the cuff, but we could have declined if we wanted to. I just thought that being a return guest might have bought us some brownie points and maybe we could have scored a free upgrade - but no such luck lol. Our upgraded room wouldn't be available until the next day so we had to move on our second day but that wasn't the end of the world. The upgraded room was worth the wait. We loved the corner balcony and the view was beautiful. The balconies are small. As are the rooms. But we were able to fit two roll away beds in addition to our king, so I guess it's big enough to sleep in, and who is really spending that much time in their room anyway. The room was clean, and housekeeping was consistent. They would read our notes and leave anything we asked for accordingly. Make sure you tip housekeeping! They really do deserve it. Our favorite place for breakfast is the nizuc buffet. We loved our server, Humberto and asked for him every day. He just elevated our experience and would bring our daughters strawberries as he knew they loved them and they weren't available at the buffet. He did not have to do that and I thought he was very thoughtful to do so. Our favorite dinner was at Pier 8 over at sunrise. We thought the service and food were elevated. We also enjoyed the Brazilian steakhouse. Make sure you are hungry for that one! The Mexican restaurant at the golf course is also fantastic. A very authentic experience and a must do. We typically just ate lunch at the pool. Our servers were fantastic and our drinks were never empty. Poolside food was great especially for the kids. The ceviche was awesome for a lighter option and the kids loved the pizza and chicken wings. The shows were all fantastic. We really enjoyed the Fuego show and Sebastian the magician. The Nizuc lobby ice cream and crepes are also a must try. Such a fun treat at any time of the day. We did get day passes to the Grand after agreeing to attend the presentation. Thankfully we had friends that offered to watch our kids this year as I was very disappointed in the childcare offered when we attended the presentation in 2024. Our toddler had obviously been crying the entire time and I was irritated that someone did not come get me to let me know. We did enjoy the water park for the day and the tacos at Los tacos were incredible. We also had dinner at the Circus restaurant at The Grand and of course the kids loved that. The food is fine for adults but it's really about the show. The biggest let down of the resort is the beach. This is completely out of the hotel's control though. You can't can't compete with Mother Nature and her seaweed. The heavy machinery is an eye sore but they are there to make the beach as nice as possible given the circumstances. But the pools are so incredible, it's really not a big deal. I can't say enough good things about the Dreamery team. The poolside activities for the kids are awesome. The staff love engaging with the kids. Definitely recommend the princess spa at the golf course if you have little girls! I know people are apprehensive to travel to Mexico but I honestly feel perfectly safe here, especially within the resort itself. I do plan on returning and I'll be curious how we are treated as a returning guest for a third time. Our experience is always great but I did get turned off by a couple of things here and there. I want to try this resort one more time to see how it goes and I will then make a final determination on my future with Moon. We obviously do enjoy this place, especially for the kids, as we keep coming back. I would recommend this resort for families. But we shall see what I think at our next visit. Stay tuned for my follow up review after our next visit.

SO i cannot understand why anybody would have a bad experience here, but seriously look in to the resorts beforehand...they all vary in treatment. IN MY OPINION! this is a 3 star place at best but i am giving them a huge 5 star review for a number of reason: let's start with the staff: These people are the kindest and sweet folks on the planet. They were aware we were there with our team, so we had a lot of our own props, fixtures and equipment in their building. We got just about every single request we asked for fulfilled including cleaning the rooms and room service in a timely manner. I saw so many people cleaning, helping us with questions and providing assistance to whomever needed it when requested. moving on to the food & drinks: it was 3 star quality food but considering it's all you can eat for 3+ days i had my body weight in complimentary guacamole and tequila. do yourself a favor and ask for what you want! they accommodated just about everyone's allergies, medical needs and water every chance we could get someone. my team had our own sun lotion station and hydration areas but they resort was helpful the entire time. I know it is often frowned upon, but i (specially me) tipped just about anybody i could in USD and i felt like i got extra special treatment because of it. I had as much tequila as legally allowed and i even went to the gift shop and bought more to take home...and also at the airport! lol the reason i am here: my work sponsors a festival type experience on their grounds. there is a massive stage in the back of some of the suites and it offers a musical offering on top of the inclusive resort amenities. i paid for my flight but they covered just about everything else. There was security guards, maintenance staff, shuttle carts and hydration station throughout. again between the party and the venue we had a ball. the downside: it was not as clean as i would like to hope. but considering this is one of the first hotels right off the airport it's probably inundated with guests so often they can't keep up. we were given the chance to walk the beach and clean up our own trash and things and we did just that! we also noticed certain areas of the beach had seaweed along them so it was encouraged to stay in the heated pools rather than the open waters. like i get it, you want to go to the beach but most of the complaints come from folks who don't seem to notice these beaches are always covered in something besides sand. given the chance for pool side bar service...i'm going with the pool! will i ever come back? absolutely! This venue is great for small parties and the occasional girls/boys/gals/gents/folks weekend getaway. i do not recommend this location for weddings, large parties or families who can't just enjoy the small tokens of a nice little oasis. there are plenty of other venues to choose from that offer lavish updated...MORE EXPENSIVE experiences. if you've been to resorts with greater aspects than this one i would highly recommend skipping this location to get a better vacation/trip overall. also you can avoid the timeshare folks. just tell them 'no'.

So my friends and I went to our friends sister destination wedding. And I am really happy to say that we really enjoyed our time there! We stayed at the Sunrise Resort, its so massive with so many food options, friendly customer service and great vibes! The only problem we had was there was a mix up with our rooms and they didn't really solve our issue as well as the place were were saying at had ocean view (ish) but every time we stepped up on the balcony it smelled like rotten eggs due to the ocean. I would for sure though go back and the wedding itself was done very well :)

Moon Palace was an amazing trip. We were actually in Ocho Rios and the resort was a very convenient size for a family group of six. Accommodations were really nice. Top level service at all the restaurants. Pretty decent selection of top shelf booze by the pool areas. Pool, and beach are easily accessible. Booked excursions to Dunn river falls, the Blue hole, zip lining and rafting, All executions wear no more than an hour out so it was very convenient . Staff was friendly and did a good job addressing any concerns or questions. They have a very impressive spa. You will definitely feel like you are getting the royal treatment. This trip was an all around memorable and successful vacation for R&R. Moon palace are building everywhere but this Ocho Rios Location is in a prime area. Please note the ride from the airport to Ocho Rios can be really pong depending on traffic. That is the only drawback.

TRAVELER WARNING -- SERIOUS ILLNESS AT THIS RESORT A member of our group was hospitalized after contracting two confirmed parasitic infections -- Blastocystis Hominis and Entamoeba Histolytica -- within 48 hours of arrival at Moon Palace Cancun Sunrise. She had zero symptoms before arriving and consumed exclusively resort food and water. Amerimed Hospital lab results confirmed active infection with uncountable red blood cells and visible blood -- she required emergency medical care and a 5-day antibiotic regimen. Her entire vacation was destroyed. She was confined to her room, unable to eat, drink, or participate in any resort activities she paid for. Entamoeba Histolytica is one of the deadliest parasites in the world -- responsible for 100,000 deaths annually. It is classified by the CDC as extremely rare in the United States and is primarily endemic to tropical regions and developing countries. Our guest is a healthy resident of San Francisco with no prior travel history that would explain this infection. This parasite was contracted here. When we reported this to the resort, management (Alfredo Barrera, Public Relations Manager) refused to provide us with a copy of the incident report and suggested she may have arrived with the infection -- a claim directly contradicted by the medical evidence, her US residency, and the CDC's own classification of this parasite as rare in America. We have filed a formal complaint with Palace Resorts corporate. We are sharing this so other travelers can make an informed decision. If you or anyone in your group is immunocompromised, elderly, pregnant, or traveling with children -- please be aware.

This was the first all inclusive resort I have been to that included alcohol. I have mixed emotions. I had the best vacation ever but there were expensive last minute fees. Makeup and hair was way more expensive than I would have paid for in California and my lady here is pretty pricey. Room service took over two hours to arrive, most of the time we would miss our food because we couldn't wait for it anymore. The bride told us that there were add on fees for things that I do agree should have been included in the final price, for example: they sold her the fire show for her guests, the venue added on last minute extra fees for a sound system that the show needed like wouldn't you think that should be included in the fire show? When we tried getting into the other clubs, we couldn't enter even though it looked dead and we would have been the party. But with all the extra fees, it was an absolute beautiful wedding and vacation. I had the time of my life with amazing people and I rave about this week of my life. Everyone here was very nice and felt so smooth. We loved the spa!

If you're considering staying here, save yourself the frustration and keep looking. This was easily THE WORST resort experiences I've had, and I've traveled extensively, including 6 times in Mexico. It started early in the trip when I politely messaged through the resort app to share that our ocean-view room was completely unusable due to a horrific septic stench. We couldn't even sit on the balcony we paid extra for it was that strong. I messaged on the app and was greeted by Axel, who was initially responsive, until I brought up my concerns. Then suddenly... my messaging feature was turned off. Yep. I was completely blocked from contacting the front desk or support through the app. The timing felt very retaliatory and petty. That same day, our room was never cleaned despite requesting housekeeping. I had to call down just to ask for water and towels to be delivered, which never showed up either. When I went to the front desk the next day to follow up, I was met by Carlo, who was stone cold and clearly irritated. He barely acknowledged me, said there was "nothing he could do," and told me I had to go to public relations or write a letter to the travel agency. I also found a $25 "no-show" charge for a dinner reservation I never made, which Carlo eventually removed after I pushed, but again, no explanation and zero apology. Let's talk about the actual property: the beach is a joke. If you're looking for tropical turquoise water and beach loungers by the shore, this is NOT it. The water was brown, churning with seaweed every single day. There were no loungers, just mounds of sand and seaweed. The red flag was up the entire time. It looked and smelled nothing like a relaxing beach escape. Even the pool area was poorly maintained, broken tiles, trash floating in the water, and debris everywhere. Maintenance equipment like hoses, tarps, and tools were left out in plain view during the day. Trash cups were left sitting around for hours, and overall the place just felt neglected and not guest-ready. This resort lacks not just attention to detail, but basic hospitality. Between the gaslighting, lack of accountability, poor conditions, and aggressive sales tactics, I wouldn't come back here if the trip were free. I've stayed at many resorts throughout Mexico, and this one stands out for all the WRONG reasons. And finally let's talk about the relentless sales culture. Upon check-in, you'll be pressured to attend a 90-minute "presentation" in exchange for day passes to their Grand resort that includes a waterpark. Even if you decline, as we did, expect to be called repeatedly throughout your stay. We were firm, said no multiple times, and they still kept calling. If you choose to stay here, just be prepared to deal with the busiest and most persistent salespeople you've ever met. Then came checkout, and the icing on this chaotic cake: a pushy resort rep would not leave us alone about booking a promotional deal to come back. I told her we had a terrible experience and were absolutely not interested. She kept going. I told her my type 1 diabetic husband was experiencing a hypoglycemic episode and we needed to get sugar for him, and she still kept pushing, even getting on the escalator with us as we tried to leave. I finally had to say, "With all due respect, my family is leaving now and we're not interested in any of your franchises." She rolled her eyes and walked away. Such a disappointment - BEWARE!!!

I'm writing this review in hopes that hotel management will address these issues publicly, because my experience so far has been extremely disappointing and far below what this resort advertises. After arriving from a five-hour flight, I was met with an unprofessional and unhelpful check-in experience. The front desk employee whose name started with "L" showed little interest in resolving concerns or providing proper assistance, which set a very negative tone from the beginning. The operational issues here are also unacceptable for a resort at this price point. The elevators were barely functioning, and I waited roughly 45 minutes just to get to my room while completely exhausted from travel. That level of inconvenience should not happen at a supposed luxury property. Additionally, the room I received was marketed as an ocean-view room, yet the actual view only shows a very small portion of the ocean -- maybe 10% at best. This feels extremely misleading and does not match what was promised at booking. Considering the premium rates charged, the value simply isn't there. I am requesting that management publicly address: 1. Why guests are being sold "ocean view" rooms that do not meet reasonable expectations. 2. What is being done to fix elevator reliability. 3. How staff training and professionalism at the front desk will be improved. I hope someone from management takes this seriously and responds, because at the moment the experience feels overpriced, frustrating, and far from the level of service this resort claims to provide.

We stayed at the Grand and it was amazing! Some of the food places weren't the best, but it is truly hard to give this place any lower (maybe a 4.5). The outdoor area is amazing and there is so many places to explore, in a week we still didn't visit everywhere. I will say that the Grand was much better than the other two resorts and I would recommend spending the extra money! Overall, would go again.

In late September, I had the chance to stay at the Moon Palace Resort in Cancun while covering an event. The experience was nothing short of luxurious, though not without its quirks. My room was in the Pineapple building (#3326), featuring a Jacuzzi, a walk-in shower, a king-sized bed, and a stunning view. The all-inclusive package gave me unlimited access to room service, which meant I could enjoy a steady flow of delicious food without ever leaving my suite. The steak, nachos, burritos, tacos, and desserts (including mousse and tarts) were all top-tier, showcasing flavors I didn't expect from standard room service. Even the most basic items, like soda or ketchup, seemed to taste better here. The resort itself is beautiful. Walking along the beach offers a scenic experience, though it's clear that swimming isn't the main attraction due to boats and construction in the area. I didn't get to explore the luxurious restaurants, but the variety of cuisine options, from Italian to Indian, means you'd be hard-pressed to go hungry. Entertainment was a highlight--I got to see Snoop Dogg perform, which added a Caribbean flair to the overall vibe. The resort's offerings for families, like mini-golf and pools for children, make it inclusive for all types of travelers. However, a couple of downsides are worth noting. First, the hurricane season interrupted my plans for exploring Cancun's coastal region. With back-to-back hurricanes, outdoor activities were cut short. Second, the room's flooring posed a safety hazard when wet. After using the Jacuzzi, I noticed there wasn't a proper drain near it, leading to a slippery situation that could've been avoided with better design. This trip, my first outside the U.S., left me with a mix of awe and reflection. Despite the weather setbacks, I thoroughly enjoyed the high-quality amenities and friendly staff. English fluency among the employees was impressive, and their welcoming attitude added to the overall experience. If I had paid for this trip, I estimate the cost for three nights with all-inclusive services at the Pineapple building to be around $1,500 to $2,000, depending on the season and deals. While the resort didn't offer everything I wanted due to the hurricanes, it still gave me a glimpse into the kind of experience many dream of for a honeymoon or a special getaway. If given another opportunity, I'd gladly return--though I'd plan for a season with better weather.

DO NOT STAY HERE I GOT EXTREMELY ILL FROM THE FOOD AND THE RESORT WAS NOT HELPFUL. If I could rate 0 I would!! Just got back from a 7 night stay here with my family . During my stay I ended up hospitalized and extremely ill. At the hospital I tested positive for 2 parasites. When i was well enough to speak to public relations they said that I must have brought the parasites from home and they would do nothing to take any responsibility. Both of these parasites live in tropical climates and are extremely rare in the United States. The resort sent me to a shady hospital where they tried to scam me out of $4000. I could not eat or drink anything but bland food and no alcohol for the remainder of the trip and they refused to even reverse my all inclusive....0 customer service or help with anything. They have even refused to give me a copy of the incident report which is very strange behavior I have never felt so sick in my entire life and was overall a horrible experience. if you care about your health or the health of the those you love pick a different resort with clean food!

My first time experiencing an all inclusive resort and it was the relaxing and fun. Literally eat, swim, sleep and repeat. The weather for our stay for the week was beautiful and in the mid 80s. Staff were very friendly. We were at the Sunrise location and stayed in the building called Chile. We were on the bottom floor and really close to the pool. The pool water is warm. The pool isn't deep. You can swim up to the bar grab a drink. We went during early February so it was there slower time. There were plenty of lounge chairs with umbrellas for shade and tables for your drinks.. Servers come around very often to get food or drink orders. We mostly soaked up the sun and hung out in the pool mostly. Plenty of restaurants to try that covers all the food categories: american, Asian, Indian, Italian. They have an app to make reservations. There are buffets and a 24 hr Cafe that serves ice cream, coffee/beverages, deli sandwiches/subs, macaroons, chocolates, crepes, small assortment of bakery items that change daily. All food and drinks are inclusive. Just be sure to be nice and tip. The room we had king size bed, large bathtub/hot tub with bubbles, has a spacious stand up shower with shampoo, conditioner, and soap. Complimentary Toiletries I found you can get shaving cream, razor, toothbrush, etc through the app. Fridge is stocked with pop, juice, and beer. Alcohol dispensary next to the mini fridge. Our friend had left a note for a specific beer and tip for the cleaning lady and he got that beer filled everyday during our stay. The rooms get cleaned multiple times throughout the day. There is a safe in the closet to keep your important stuff in it. Lots of events for kids and adults throughout the day. Such as face painting, water balloon fight, sand castle building, and bubble machine for the kids. For adults there were Volleyball, water aerobics, pool party, water pool, and more. Also for adults they have workout event in the mornings. There is a show every day after dinner. We got to see the flame show and glow night show. We didn't do any excursions, since we wanted to relax at the resort. We did get complimentary mani, pedi, and 25 min massage. We applied resort credits to get a facial. Be sure to take advantage of the hydro shower and hot tub at the spa. We didn't know so we missed out on trying it after our massage and facial. I advise to get there 30 min before your appt to check in, change, and explore around. To get around you can walk or use their complimentary golf cart service. Definitely recommend staying at Sunrise moon palace for a nice getaway and relax.

I had a terrible experience with this resort and wish I paid closer attention to reviews before booking. My husband and I booked a room at the Sunrise location (there's 3 hotels within Moon Palace). We were told that our room was on the the far back end of the hotel and we were persuaded by the front desk to upgrade our room to an ocean view next to the pools/attractions. This upgrade was 160$ per night but we were told we had to wait for the room to be ready (about an hour). After arriving to our room, we were very upset to note that our "ocean view" was a very partial view out of the corner and also 2 double beds when we were told king bed. We reported this to front desk and they claimed there is nothing they can do about it as they had no king beds left (highly unlikely as this resort is big). Resort itself was crowded with kids. Very dirty, dead bugs in our rooms. Hallways filled with old drinks/food. Drinks served at the bar were very watered down. Food at the buffets were very bland and seemed like it had been left out there for hours. On our last night, we went to dinner at Momo (one of the restaurants on site) and my husband woke up the next morning with committing and diarrhea which persisted for 2 days. This was an awful way to end our trip. When we reached out the hotel, they emailed back trying to justify that it couldn't be food poisoning, even though it clearly was, because they have their food inspection certification. Please save yourselves from an awful stay here and choose another resort. read more

Visited this resort with my family. It was a perfect choice to visit with kids. We booked this resort through Costco as a package and we could not be happier. This resort actually has "all-inclusive" package where food and drinks are both included along with the stay. We were allotted a room in Sunrise Palace resort which is one of the 3 Moon Palace resorts. We had full access to the other Moon Palace resort: Nizuc along with Sunrise. There are golf cart shuttles which continuously run between these two resorts which are free for guests. The third Palace resort: Grand, was not included in the package and we did not have access to it. There was an option to get one day pass for this Grand resort either by paying $$$ or by attending their marketing tour. We did not do either so will not comment on that part. Overall the Sunrise resort has really good amenities to keep your family busy. They have a huge pool with few wet bars and jacuzzis. There is also a dedicated shallow pool with water play structures and slides for kids on one end of the resort. There are multiple activities that you can keep yourself busy with throughout the day. To name a few, beach volleyball, mini golf, yoga on water, pilates, Zumba dance, water volleyball, water acrobats, etc. There is also a playroom for kids where you can leave them (kids above 4) and there are multiple areas within the playroom to keep your kids engaged. They also have activities like kids bingo, kids movie show, kids dance party etc conducted in the playroom throughout the day. We went for a family suite which is basically two rooms with a connected door on the ground level with garden view. The rooms were really spacious and had a king or two queen beds, TV, Jacuzzi, Fridge and a table with two chairs. Each room also had its own private patio with hammock to relax and enjoy. The room had drinks on tap in a hidden bar cabinet next to the fridge. :) The doors, bathroom etc was bit dated and could surely be upgraded for a modern look. They also allow free calls to US, CA and MX from the room land line. Finally restaurants. They have a good number of restaurants across Sunrise and Nizuc resorts which we had access to. Few restaurants run buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner, while few were only for lunch and dinner and a few only for dinner. We tried their buffet restaurants for breakfast, lunch and dinner and they were really good. Plenty of options to choose from. The dinner only restaurant that we tried was Agra which served Indian cuisine, but was not worth the hassle. It needed booking in advance and if you do not show up they charge $5 per person. We did not like the food at all and have had way better Indian food. The pool side pizza and burger are really good. Overall we loved our stay. It is about 15 mins from the airport, so that is a bonus. We will surely visit again. read more

I really enjoyed the Moon Palace resort. We stayed at the Sunrise resort and it was amazing. Service is great, there are several restaurants at each resort (Japanese, Indian, Spanish, Italian & ..), the food is very tasty and there is always something for every taste. The rooms a nice but I do wish they were bigger especially the beds. The rooms all have a jacuzzi and fully stocked fridge (water, soft drinks, and beer). There is a shuttle service several times a day between all the resorts, so the guests can enjoy the facilities in other resorts, if they wish. The pool section is just amazing. The amount of pool areas that they have was what mostly impressed me. The ONLY downside about this whole resort experience was the beach. This is definitely not a beach resort mostly just a pool resort. Overall i had a great time and I can't wait to return. read more
Will always recommend the Moon Palace! The staff here are incredibly friendly and attentive. 1 downfall is the beach. There will always be seaweed on the beach or in the water. So if you're coming for white sandy beaches and crystal clear water, choose another Palace resort. However, they have kayaks to rent and usually there is a sandbar a little ways out if you really want to swim in a clearer part of the ocean. But the Moon Palace is so big and has so many pools that there are plenty of other opportunities to swim and soak up the sun. Between the swim-up bars, staff walking around the pool area to take your food or drink orders, and/or numerous poolside restaurants, you're set. There are SO many different restaurants between the 2 main lobbies with different types of cuisines. I recommend Los Caporales for delicious Mexican food and sometimes a mariachi band! Moon Palace really takes all inclusive to another level. Also, if you don't want to spend your days outside, there are opportunities to shop, play games, work out, watch shows, drink, etc. in the lobby areas! After visiting the Moon Palace several times, it has started to feel like home and I always have a wonderful experience. read more

Our experience at check-out completely ruined out impression of your hotel. We were approached by someone aggressively trying to sell us a coupon and refusing to take no for an answer, even responding with sarcastic remarks. Additionally, the doorman repeatedly asked for proof of our checkout in a way that made us feel very uncomfortable. We will not be back and would caution against staying here before you know what you are getting yourself into read more

There are better options in Cancun if you want to pick a location for the pools. Very inconsistent and inconvenient pool use policy. Some people say the pool is open until 7pm and people swim until 12 midnight. Then some days they tell some people to get out at 8pm while others continue to swim. The pool should be open in the evening until at least 10 or 11pm, like everywhere else in the world that I have been. Very sad resort to have their pools close at 7pm when it finally gets cooled down. 1 star for this site for sure just for the pool since this is the main reason I picked this resort for my family. Truly disappointed!!!! Oh and you can't use the beach because of algae bloom! It stinks so bad and the air is horrid when the wind comes off the Caribbean Sea! They also have a horrible "1.5 hour" high pressure sale scheme where you pay for a membership that just guarantees a discount for a number of years for $175,000 USD or $450,000 for VIP. Big time scam and it ended up being 3 hours from start to finish so that we could get the pleasure of staying at their other hotel, the Grand, which seemed to be way overbooked and crowded. The All-Inclusive is nice and the restaurants are ok, but for what I paid I should have more variety and also the reservation system and the app are truly garbage. Don't get me started about the air conditioning being broken twice. Last the location is horrible for going to all the Xcaret water parks, 2-3 hour commute and traffic! read more

5 stars. This place is incredible the Grand is amazing, the pools are nice and rarely overcrowded, the service and staff were amazing, the food was remarkable, and there were so many activities to do. The sunrise/nizuc is also great however it pales in comparison to the grand (as the grand includes the two aforementioned). This place's activities include: a gaming/arcade area, a show area that has presentations every night, pool activities, and many field trips. I did many of these activities and each were very enjoyable. I had a great time staying at both the grand and at sunrise. read more

The pictures online look amazing. It's not. The buildings are old and not kept up well; the jacuzzi tub in the room is basically calcified or at least I hope that's what the gunk is; there is an awful smell around the property; and the amenities you see available to order disappear when you're onsite- like aromatherapy pillows. The beach at the resort is not the beautiful clear blue typical of the hotel zone in Cancun, but rather resembles the muddy Mississippi coast. The drinks are watered down, but I'm not much of a drinker. On the better side, the staff seems friendly; the pool area is nice; and the one restaurant we ate at so far had decent food. read more

This place is awful! Not sure why they have 5 stars on Google but this place was soooo bad in every catergory. From slow service to a property that is not well maintained. Way too packed and would literally wait 10-20 minutes to move around this property. Property is way too large and the team cannot handle it. Poorly maintained property as well. Definitely would not recommend! Overrated. read more

The resort was great with pleasant staff, good buffet, beach and amenities. My only issue was two $25 charges for no show at restaurant which was a mistake that could not be resolved before check out. This is a popular place for weddings. read more

We booked a 9 night stay through Costco Travel over New Years, it's a busy time and we paid a higher price then if we went another time of the year. This resort is huge with one premium called The Grand and has additional cost to visit about $350 USD for a family of 4 for a day pass. We stayed in Nizuc a smaller more laid back hotel then Sunrise. We were told that the beach isn't great so didn't expect much. The sand is soft but the water is murky with seaweed, which is cleaned but probably a never ending battle. The biggest complaint is that you cannot get reservations at the restaurants! It's a terrible system where you call everyday at 10 to try to get in. The agents also lie to you and tell you to go to Lobby you get there to try to book and they say you need to dial "0" from room. Never ending loop of disappointment. Other restaurants are Medicore with a long walk in wait. Buffet is ok but getting sick of it. Considering the price we paid there are better hotels. read more

We were able to join future family members here to Moon Palace particularly the Sunrise part of the resort and I say this, that I was highly impressed with the staff, the welcome and the accommodations they had here at this resort. It also doesn't hurt that we were under Diamond account thanks to our future family members. :) Diamond is the top of the line membership you can get here, so everything was great! The service here was phenomenal. Every staff personnel were superb and attentive. Room service was great, sometimes the food, was meh, but hey it's being delivered to your room till at least 3:00 am, again ALL inclusive with our Diamond stay. Just look at our view from our room in my pics. We had a really nice view of their pools and the beach behind. The room location was perfect, again perks of being Diamond. You can also take a golf cart ride to The Grand Hotel on the same campus and visit their restaurants and shops if you wanted to. The grounds were well kept and everything was super clean. The only downside and this may not be everyone's opinion is that most of the restaurants weren't up to par for our liking. I like that the beach is about a mile long, BUT the water isn't clear at all and there is a lot of seaweed on the beach, but it does get picked up by a John Deer tractor all day long, so it's cool. We Would stay here again and hopefully we will! ;) read more

Loved everything about the resort except how desperate they are to get you to buy a membership. They would not take no for an answer. They had us sit through a meeting they said would be 1.5 hours. Turned into 3 hours. It got annoying and killed the vibe of our vacation. read more

Was not impressed! For starters you can not sleep in on your vacation. At 630 am the workers making massive amounts of noise. I mean moving beds or furniture talking loud laughing down the hallways. The ONLY thing i can say is the food is amazing. The resort is huge so you have to take golf carts everywhere which is not fun waiting 10-15 minutes for my mom cant walk far so waiting for a cart for everything. read more

Moon palace is a luxurious hotel!! It's soooi pretty and smells so good, It's huge though and has beaches and many restaurants. There are pools, a cafe, restaurants, food court and many others. The quality of the rooms are great other than they take a long time to set up, the room service is also great. The service there is also quick and they clean quick. The food there is also incredibly good food. The room provides some toiletries, basic needs (bed, couch, shower etc.) it includes a tv and also includes a bath tub. The place is huge so if you can't walk for long it's going to suck. But overall 4.7/5 read more

I am a victim of my own doing as I didn't check out the Yelp reviews before agreeing to come to this dastardly resort. Stay away even if you are coming at someone else's expense. From the minute you check-in all throughout your stay you will be made to feel like a second class citizen to time share class as the resort is quite literally divided between the have and the have nots. Guess which class I was forced into? read more
If they put the energy they spend on trying to sell you a membership share into any of their other other services, they would get five stars. I've never not slept so much on a vacation. They left a call each morning at 8 AM to try to schedule you on there. Membership Timeshare junket pitch. Let us sleep! As written here, when & if you finally relent, the pitch is longer than 90 minutes, it requires you to shuttle to the Grand, around the Grand & meet with multiple people. The minimum package "Elite" is $100,000 and it does NOT mean you never have to pay again. It just gets you a discount on future bookings. Even when the 3rd agent tells you, you're done with the pitch you're not done. The checkout person on the floor actually tries another pitch for $299 for your next stay. OMG, let us go! Another morning they woke us at 7:45 am with room service we did not order. Then they called to insist we ordered it when we had in fact been sleeping. Then another room service delivery came at 8:15 which we again had not ordered. It appeared on our app that an angry man cancelled pancakes ...that we had not ordered. Yes we were angry because we never ordered food and we're sleeping. A word about the app...I'm not sure it works. They insist you use it but each request from spa to maintenance says someone will reach out to you by phone or email. When I did order a nighttime room service order on the app, it said 37 minutes. 90 minutes later I called to ask where it was "It's in progress, it will take 90 minutes". When I said it said 37 minutes on the app the operator said "you can't trust the app" Then, 115 minutes after I ordered or nearly 2 hours, my pizza arrived...cold. Of course I was up later than I wanted, slept in longer than I should have & did not have much time to check out. I ran to the breakfast buffet. Ordered an omelette, tried to leave w/said omelette to eat while I packed but noooo..two women stopped me & demanded I not leave. When I asked for a to go plate they handed me a paper bowl that would fit a scoop of ice cream. When I told them I couldn't fit my omelette in there, they said restaurant food was not meant to go & that I could just order room service. The same Room service that can't get food to you warm in under an hour? Getting our rooms cleaned was a constant battle throughout the stay not just for us but for other rooms in our party. On the first day after trying to stay in to 10am, we asked 2 floor staff & the front desk to clean the rooms. This did not get done. We called again at 5pm and 8pm and 10pm but only 1 room out of our 3 room group were cleaned. These doors were all near each other. The halls are filthy. Staff randomly walk by used cups, plates, trays, towels on the floor, stairs, lawns and don't pick them up. We're pretty sure one used cup sat on a hall ledge for 3 days. The food is mediocre and flavorless. Some people write about over pouring or under pouring but I didn't find that to be the case. What everyone says about check-in is so true. From waiting for the shuttle to waiting to check-in you might lose half your first day. Of course, this could be reduced if they took all this people ready to sell you a membership package & put them behind the check-in desk. Check out. The line is as long & inefficent as check-in. After check out someone accosts you with a tablet saying you have to check out with them too. If check out can be done on a tablet why wait in line & do it twice? I'm never coming back and would urge you to consider these reviews. read more

Everything could improve. The pool was horribly dirty. Like next level dirty. We waited by the pool for over 30 minutes, asked multiple people to take our order yet nobody really helped. The drinks were seeves in super filthy glasses The staff were reluctant to come and help answer any questions. This was a horrible experience and I feel I have an infection from just dipping my toes in that nasty water. The hotel must reconstruct the pools and separate to like 5 or 6 with some exlusively for the kids. We're traumatized and would never ever recommend this place. This hotel deserves zero stars. read more

Frustrated!!! Currently staying at Sunrise location with friends and beyond frustrated with things. Our reservation included $500 resort credit & 2 complimentary rounds of golf per room. I have 2 rooms & $0 in resort credits & 0 rounds of complimentary golf. We have a reservation for golf on 3/5/24 that we have tried to cancel bc our credits & complimentary golf have not been applied and can't get anyone to cancel the reservation or explain why we don't have these things. I left our group dinner tonight early because I was told I had to be at the Sunrise Lobby by 10 pm to straighten it out with them. I arrived at 9 pm and nobody could assist because they left at 7 pm. Proceeded to go visit with "Public Relations" with zero luck. The gentleman asked why I thought I should receive these credits & golf. I showed him my reservation with the proof and he still was unable to assist. I advised him that a chargeback would be filed if things were not corrected because this was false advertising. I personally have spent $10,985 combined for 2 rooms for 7 days and I expect more than this. I'm hoping things get corrected asap because I am tired of wasting my vacation trying to get in touch with staff on things that I paid for. I also spent much of my afternoon with concierge trying to solve things with no avail. Rooms that have not been given the items we paid for: 3340 is due $500 credit & 2 rounds of golf 3342 is due $500 credit & 2 rounds of golf 5501 is due $500 credit & 2 rounds of golf 7400 is due $500 credit & 2 rounds of golf 5500 is due $500 credit & 2 rounds of golf On top of this golf reservations on 3/5 & 3/7 should be canceled with no charge because of this fiasco. We have been unable to get assistance. Update on 3/5/2024 been getting the run around with nobody able to assist. Currently in the process of filing a chargeback with my credit card for $10,985 the whole amount because services we paid for are not being applied and can't get anyone to assist. I've never been this furious during a vacation - it's robbery. Update 3:30 pm March 5 - still zero response from resort. Update 4:47 pm March 5 made a visit to front desk at Sunrise, they tossed me to Public Relations. Public Relations getting no where. BUYER BE WARE!!!!!! You book a package and don't receive what you paid for or what's on your reservation. I've spent hours & hours of my vacation with scam artists. 5:16 pm March 5 sent to public relations - 29 minutes of no results. Burning sunlight. read more

We just returned from our Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds vacation at Moon Palace in Cancun. We are still in awe of our experience, the concerts were mind blowing, simply amazing! With guests Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, Mavis Staples, the Lone Bellows. There are 3 resorts in 1, sunrise, Nizuc, and the grand. If you stay at the grand you can go anywhere if you stay at Sunrise or Nizuc you can not go to the grand but you can pay for a day trip. Honestly Sunrise and Nizuc are amazing and you do not need to venture to the Grand in our opinion. A lot of restaurant and buffet options, our favorite was Agra for authentic Indian. I really don't have a negative thing to say other than we wanted to golf and they kept trying to sell us other things, because we were there for the concerts we were limited on time to golf so that didn't happen. If I had to do it over I would have booked before we arrived. read more

I stayed in Moon Palace Grand in last of December 2024. The property and facility is stunning. The hospitality by staff is also aw-some. The one thing i hate to say is that although all the restaurants had an amazing interiors and great service but the food quality and taste was very substandard. I had food in Agra (Indian Restaurant) and found that they screwed up the simple things like Gujrati Kadhi. They made is using sour cream which is like blasphemy for indian cooking. The chicken was taste-less and they used cream in Baaji of Paav Baaji. They didn't even use the Basmati rice for making rice. It was very substandard rice which they used. They used habanero chilies in Dal, which screwed up the basic taste of it. I checked with the waiter and he told me that the cook is a mexican born person meaning he is not aware of the basics of indian cuisine. I found similar issues with Thai restaurant. I never had such a screwed up green curry. Come on, who uses just egg plant and mash rooms in green curry with taste less spices. I don't have much idea of Japanese cuisine but you can't justify excessive salt in any of the dish. I believe that in such a luxury resort, the food should be cooked by authentic cooks from the their respective countries. Like Indian food should have chef who is from India and Japanese food should be cooked by a Japanese chef to bring authenticity. Even in the grand buffet, they have not used a good quality rice. Even the Mexican food was far bad compared to our old good chipotle. The rice was always 80% cooked bring a hard cut feeling in mouth. My family was of the opinion that Italian food was of great quality. Considering it is a luxury all inclusive resort, i expected a far better food quality. I understand because of the ambience a lot of people get impressed by the food but the real taste in food was missing. I would not make a comment about the sweet dishes because i don't eat much of the sugary things. I paid almost 1000+ usd per night of stay and stayed almost hungry..probably good for health. On positive side, the room, services, waiters, spa and everything else was of great quality. They have not compromised on any of those things. I would not return to this property ever. read more

Staff are nice and friendly for the most part, but management is a different story. The side mirror with a built in light clearly had wiring issues: it would randomly shock whoever touched it, and sometimes would be completely fine. We reported it twice and eventually got told that there was no issue and that it was all made up in our heads, instead of fixing the issue. We chose to pay for two loads of laundry (about 80 dollars) and it never got washed, not even with water. Our room had a leak in the ceiling which caused me to fall cartoon-style. We were able to get it fixed with minimal issues. The issues didn't ruin the trip, but the dismissal and gaslighting from certain management was alarming to say the least. read more

Terrible terrible service. In the main dining hall the meat options only consists of Ham, pork, bacon and salami. No beef and chicken or seafood options. They refuse to address any of your issues unless you create a scene. My husband had food poisoning. We had to get a doctor to come and see him. Ended up paying $240 for that visit. Their only interest was getting us to attend the info session/ sales pitch. Stay Away if you are interested in a relaxing vacation. This place had like a 1000 people. It felt like we were staying at LaGuardia Airport. We had to stand in line and wait for breakfast - lunch - dinner. Not like other resorts where they would take you straight to your table. Definitely not coming back here. read more

If I could say zero stars I would. This place must be under new management. Hidden fees, rude customer service and then what used to be included as transfer from airport to hotel is now an up charge and no one cares to tell you about that until the day you're supposed to check out and leave. Take your money somewhere else someone who wants your business. Will not be back to this place!!! read more
I stayed 5 days & 4 nights at Moon Palace. I specifically stayed at nizuc. The resort is absolutely beautiful and the staff is very kind. Especially at El Mangler, they are so attentive and helpful (special shout out to Alberto). I was constantly getting new towels and toiletries by the staff. All the drivers of the shuttles/carts were super nice and drove great. You do have to be aware that unless you're staying in an ambassador room, you're not actually staying in the nizuc main building. You have to take a shuttle or golf cart to wherever your building is. If you have trouble with stairs, please request the 1st floor cause the other buildings outside of the nizuc main lobby don't have elevators. If you're not staying at the Grand, you can eat at nizuc and sunrise. You can get a day pass for the Grand, which is $99, but I just attended the membership presentation & got a free day pass. It's clear that the Grand has many more options and it's gigantic. But I still preferred Nizucs restaurants more than Sunrise. I was given $750 in resort credits, but the downside is that you have to pay the tax on whatever you purchase, and tax in Mexico is 16%. But I was able to use it for a Tulum excursion and at the spa, which were both wonderful experiences. I loved the pools and bars in the pool. I didn't go to the beach cause the water looked murky by Nizuc, and it was due to the hurricane occurring on the other side of Mexico, we experienced rain occasionally. Overall, I liked staying at Moon Palace. It had its quirks, but I think it was a great experience nonetheless. read more

To say all our visits speak volumes about this resort. We truly do compare all inclusive experiences to this resort. For our 10th anniversary we came to Moon Palace... the marble suite rooms, the double jacuzzi tubs... the food, the elaborate lobby spaces, beautifully decorated restaurants, world class experiences... Our 20th... we celebrated our anniversary by renewing our vows at Moon Palace... everything was perfect to the planner assigned to us, to the horse drawn carriage that took us from the room to the ceremony. We just came back from Moon Palace celebrating our 30th anniversary. 20 years later, It still is the most elite place to vacation in Cancun... Palace Resorts does a phenomenal job in its welcoming relaxing environment. Everyone, everytime we have been, have been the most welcoming, friendly, hard working to make sure we enjoy our stay.... read more

My wife and I just tried leaving to board our prepaid shuttle bus to the airport, and the front desk claimed we owed $25 for a no-show fee at a restaurant which we ate at, at our scheduled reservation time! They asked if we had proof lol, and we Do!! We have pictures with timestamps!!! The front desk told us we had to speak to "public relations", a hike from the front desk. It seemed obvious their scam was on. The public relations agent spent a while on the phone and then said they have no record of us at the restaurant lol. We showed her the pictures and timestamps. She didn't care. This should make it obvious that Moon Palace in Cancun targets guests. We wound up missing our shuttle and had to pay for a cab! We also had to pay the $25 or they wouldn't let us leave. I recorded the conversation with the public relations person when this started to smell like a scam. AMERICANS SHOULD AVOID MOON PALACE IN CANCUN! read more

This place sucks! Please take your family somewhere else. Unless you are an elite member they treat you like shit and all of the food is dry and rubbery, the only good food was the room service fajitas and the macarons. One of my sisters fell over on the ground and nearly had a concussion due to a water leak from the roof above, also the vanity mirror would shock them hard when they touched it. We tried to get our clothes cleaned and they sent them back to us obviously not cleaned not even with a little bit of water and they tried to charge us 80$! This place is a scam and if you don't do a 90 minute tour brain washing you into buying more stuff they treat you like absolute shit. One of the only good parts was the workers were nice. Had a horrible time even though we tried are hardest to make it good. read more
This resort has mixed reviews. It really depends on the resort they stayed at. There are three resorts. Sunrise, Nizuc and the Grand. We stayed at the Sunrise. It was ok. It was family friendly and oriented toward the younger kids. There's a pirate splash pad here and a kids pool on this side. As for Cancun, it's not known for the beach. As for the service, the check in took us 45 minutes. I'm not sure why it was so slow but I've never experienced such a long wait before. If you're there I would recommend getting a drink while checking in. Also, I would pre enter your passport information. This is probably the worst part of this. As for getting around, the gold carts and the lobby to lobby buses were not too bad. We came here in January 2024 so the weather has been perfect and it feels good to ride in a golf cart. They do ask you to download the app and the app is not the greatest. It's best you get used to navigating by walking around the first few hours. It's not that bad. As for the food, we weren't able to book any restaurants. They were quite busy. We went to Momo the first night and service took 2 hours alone. We waited in line for a table for 40 minutes as well. The second night at the Apareces we got there right at the open and waited only 5 minutes. So get there early. The food there is slightly better. Often the meats are overcooked and a medium well but seasoned appropriately. The salad bar exceeded my expectations as they have many different variations of salad. For entertainment, it was alright. We watched the glow show one night, and a magician. The magician was top notch. The rooms were ok. I wish they were more family friendly. We only were able to book a double and my wife and I had to share a bed and my son had another. It's a bit dusty but clean enough. I wouldn't eat of any counter without sanitizing it appropriately. As for the rest, the greatest parts were the pool, the cafe bistro where they offered cold brew, and probably enjoyed half of the put put. Overall, we stayed there for 2 nights and it was alright. The best parts were the pool. This place hasn't changed much and needs a renovation. You can tell they spend good money in the restaurants and food. The exteriors are in need of a remodel and deep cleaning. I would say it's good for the budget conscience traveler and not an every year place you would want to go. I would temper your American standards. As they do offer all you can drink and eat which typically doesn't align with the American establishments like our hiltons, Hyatt's etc. In the end, our family enjoyed our stay but it was purely adequate. read more

It's a scam. they'll book you for a oceanfront room then they won't give you the room or your money back but they will give you something called hotel credits, and the hotel credits have to be used at the hotel and they won't let you use the hotel credits so you essentially lose 100s of dollars. This place is huge now imagine that with the 10,000 guests they receive a year. What is 10,000×500? This scam pulls in $5 million a year for the moon Palace hotel resort. If I wasn't scammed at this hotel, I would give it a five star rating but due to the scam I'm going to give it a one star and I want my money back. I will make sure to post this on every review site I encounter. read more

This is a very large and confusing complex. We stayed in the wrong place for the multiple ages of our family. We would have been better off at the Nizuc than the sunrise which was not great at all. No reservations were available at all for so many things that it ended up being boring at times. Could not get dinner reservations or snorkeling reservations, oh sure there were things we had no interest in available. Then the attempted hook- buy into our vacation club and it will be easy only at the highest level of course and the buy in is $1,000,000. We waited up to 2 hours for some dinners. The place is massive- too massive too many people to few activities that you can actually participate in. My family would never come back. Our Club Med experience was much more enjoyable. read more
The Moon Palace is a destination, an experience, a pleasant memory filled with aromas and service. The place is massive. Three hotels in one location at this resort. Even the drive from the entrance through the Fort Knox gates that checks every reservation as you pass to the lobby is a considerable and ponderous sight. ***No UBERS allowed inside btw Crazy weird. Why not? Some taxi drivers caused incidents and attacked Uber drivers. No joke Taxis are notoriously expensive and have a monnopoly at this resort because the distance is too great to walk to the street. Rooms are decent at Nizuk and Sunrise. Rooms are larger in the Grand. You have to pay extra for the Grand. You need to buy a day pass even to visit the Grand. I'm not kidding. Be careful with their "membership" presentation (i.e. timeshare). Not worth it. You need to make reservations for the fancy dinner restaurants by calling 0 on your room phone two days in advance. Crazy but true. The beach is not great here and it makes sense why they have such a massIve pool system. The food here is endless. Stock up on sandals and all things beach at home. They gouge you here! Overall very nice service. Leave good tips for the staff! read more

I went here for an even which had live music. The rooms were fine and check in was easy for me. I got the resort credit but used it for part of my massage (still had to pay like $60) but massage was wonderful I ate at the buffet a lot and it wasn't bad at all. Servers filled drinks fast and never too long of a wait. The earlier you go when it opens the fresher the food. The 'MOMO' Japanese restaurant was fantastic. We didn't do the teppenyaki jjst the sit down meal but it was so good. Staff was very friendly for me and nice. I had to call daily to get my room cleaned and mini fridge but they always came through. They had golf carts to get you around the place just remember to bring singles to tip. A solid four stars. Came here for One Big Holiday (a four-day concert hosted by My Morning Jacket). We flew in early and stayed at a different hotel for the first two days and absolutely loved our stay there. When we got here, we started to get a similar experience. We did the event check-in and they were definitely understaffed for "early" check-in. The staff, however, was warm and kind at check-in. They have a pretty aggressive sales staff, but since we were trying to make it to the merch tent early, we were able to dodge them. Our room wasn't ready at 10am (which is totally fine). We got a text around 1pm I believe? After a dip and a couple drinks in the pool. It was perfect timing for a nap. The rooms are pretty outdated but they have great amenities. Just doesn't make sense lol. I enjoyed laying on the hammock in the balcony with a cigar. The room service is absolutely horrendous. Avoid it at all costs. The food service in general is hit or miss. Depending on the restaurant and overall person, you might get a rude/busy server or a friendly/funny one. No in between. There's a breakfast restaurant in Nizuc that has chilaquiles - absolutely recommend. Don't leave without trying it. The pool service was decent. Sometimes took a while to get drinks but it was pretty dang busy. I also like that the pools didn't look too disgusting with so many people partying in them. Know what I mean? Didn't look like grime and oil floating around that creates that gross film. Ick. Overall, it was a little expensive but they do staff pretty well (aside from early check-in). I'd stay here again for the next OBH and honestly, we'd probably add our early days on here too instead of going somewhere else. Even though the other stay was definitely five stars. read more

My family and I stayed here for 7 days. The resort is beautiful and clean. there are plenty of things to do. Pros-We enjoyed mini golf, the game room, the pools at Nizuc and Sunrise and the nightly entertainment. My husband and I had a great time visiting the bars and the club at the grand. The food was delicious and tasted very fresh. The rooms were also spacious. The golf carts are a great accommodation. Spa was wonderful!!!! Now for the cons, the alcoholic drinks are extremely watered down. I can see it as a way to control intoxication but it did kind of suck. The hotel is away from everything. Taxi or Uber is the only way leave the resort. The timeshare people were kind of rude. Overall, I had a great time and can't wait to be back in Cancun. read more

My honest review is this is a terrible hotel for big groups and definitely for families with elderly or children. My summary is that I've never been more excited to leave a resort even if I'm going back to the middle of winter! This place has so many tricks to get you to pay more (watch out for extra charges or "donations" on your bill) and trades quantity for quality in every sense. Instead of offering to show you the grounds of this massive, complex and unintuitive property when you arrive they push you onto a team of sales ppl who try to sell you on a "tour" of The Grand that will talk you into a timeshare to keep coming back to the Palace Resorts property. AVOID at all costs. Here is my extended opinion on why I would never come back to a Palace Resort property (including my honest review of some things I liked at the bottom): 1. No adjustments or accommodations for big group activities or big celebrations. They wouldn't even put our 5 rooms near each other in this massive property to be easier to coordinate. They offered us one group dinner out of the 5 nights we were there, so don't expect to get a reservation for your group together. Even if you do, they will separate the tables (sometimes not near each other) because it's easier to turn over the tables. 2. Food is really disappointingly bland, stale and slow service 3. Room credits cannot be used anywhere but the spa/golf and they're very inflexible to accommodate appts, and both have additional charges that they won't use credits for. Watch out. 4. At multiple restaurants the staff were so slow and didn't care about service that we had to speak to management: Jade, Habibi, Gondola (Ramos) and Los Caporales and instead of enjoying a meal with loved ones, our tables left hungry/upset 5. Ricardo at PR tried to help correct some of this but left in the middle of his effort so we had to work with a whole new team of ppl to correct some negative experiences 6. We booked The Grand for one day but the vacation planner guy in video below was such a swindler and tried to charge 10 ppl for a full day pass at 9pm for that day rather than the next so we'd have to pay 2x the price. He should not be allowed to do business. 7. WiFi stopped working on Saturday all day 8. We were asking for staff to stop for poolside service but they were very hard to track down and it wasn't a sold out hotel. - Would not stop calling us and woke up kids up at 8:15a for a timeshare sales pitch 9. Most shocking was to find out that no one swims or is playing on beach near the resorts (they recommend taking a 30-40 min shuttle to Beach Palace) and I'm not sure if it's because of the water being full of seaweed or it's unhealthy because of the hotel 10. Obvious budget cuts because several restaurants are closed, facilities are run down and the rooms have not been upgraded in years. Sunrise and Nizuc rooms have a jacuzzi in the middle of the room which is completely useless. Two positive aspects: 1. The hotel has a lot of variety and for those seeking entertainment around the clock, they usher you to these events and things run on time. The entertainment staff is very good. 2. The cleaning and bell hop staff at the hotel was fantastic. Muchas gracias para todo. I do not give this review lightly, I was stressed and unhappy on multiple occasions during the 5 days and do not believe it is a relaxing or very accomodating hotel. read more

The Grand Moon Palace everything automatically went bad. We walked up to the front desk and immediately the concierge had a very hasty manner and nasty attitude. We ignored it due to being eager to start our vacation so we checked in and got our waistbands for our rooms. We got on the golf cart to go to our room and open the door to one king size bed. We immediately turned around and went back on the golf cart to go to the front desk and asked for a manager. Once the manager comes out the office with an "I don't care attitude", I proceeded to tell her the situation and she stated it's nothing that she can do about it but provide a roller bed. We did not accept the roller bed because we paid for a swim up with two queen beds. As well as, there wasn't any room for a roller bed and king bed. To fit the roller bed, we would've had to climb on beds to get around the room. The manager proceeds to say, "There's no rooms left." I then stated, "well I guess I'll be calling American Express to get a full refund because yall not going to take my money for something I did not receive." Apparently, now the manager has a two bed swim up available once I made my comment and once my daughter seen 3 queen bed swim ups available online. We were all so confused. Next let's talk about the room, the room was clean but the swim up pool was dirty, outdoor bed was filthy, the floor had ants due to food from the previous guest. Every pool we encountered was dirty with bugs, band aids and trash. The pools also are suppose to have servers which were no where to be found to order food or drinks. Moving forward to the "25 restaurants" on our resort and the other 50 on the other two sister resorts are all bad bad bad business! They inform you to book restaurants online on the app but when u go to book everything is booked up! Most of the servers have nasty attitudes and when conflict arises, such as asking for a manager, they talk about you in front of your face in their language, thinking you don't know what they are saying. Shame on them! Due to the restaurants being booked, we tried room service and that was even bad. Room service arrived a hour and 45 mins after we ordered and when it arrived it was hard, cold and overcooked. My fries were hard like chips, rice was mushy, chicken soup was watery, etc. my family and I have been starving the entire trip. One reservation for "JC steakhouse", we were on the waitlist for 24 hours. Due to us being on the waitlist for one restaurant, we could not make any other reservations. As dinner time approaches, we continued to check the app for the waitlist update but it never updated. We then proceeded to go to the restaurant and the hostess Miguel attitude was very unprofessional. He stated, "we serve 700 people a night" and referred us to restaurants on the opposite side of resort. Something told me to check my email so I did and saw it was a email from the restaurant saying our table was ready and to confirm. When I went to confirm, the app stated we couldn't confirm. I proceed to go back to the hostess Miguel and he shrugs his shoulder and tell me "it's nothing that he can do". Next, I ask for the manager (Ernesto) and Miguel begins to speak to another host in another language using hand gestures and nonverbal ques with an attitude. I asked if the person he was speaking to was the manager and he ignored me and finished his conversation. The manager Ernesto then sends another staff member to come over and talk to me to attempt to accommodate me but all she states was "you need to be patient". The only place we could eat at was The Grand Buffet and that was because it didn't require a reservation. I hate it here! please do not bring your family here because the service does not match the atmosphere or the decorations. I'm so ready to leave but I spent too much money on this trip to just turn around so we are trying to make the best of our last days here. My son is trying to make the best out of his last summer trip but overall this experience is horrendous and I would not recommend this place to anyone. After my trip advisory review posted, I received a call by a young lady name Stephanie who tried to help my family and I as much as possible but unfortunately we all know that she doesn't have much control. Stephanie asked if she can come by my room or we can talk on the phone, I agreed for her to stop by the room so that she can see how dirty things are. She asked how could she compensate us and I told her a refund for half of my money because the time already has been wasted. She also was able to make dinner reservations for us and told us that she will send the maids to clean up the room after we left out. She informed me that she had been reading all of the reviews, which is a lot but please believe that everything everybody is saying is true. I wish I would have read them before coming! Thank you TikTok but no thanks. The only accommodation that her manager offer me was $267 USD. read more

VIP PALACE ELITE TIMESHARE IS A RIPOFF..! FOOD, ROOM SERVICE, SPA ALL OK. YES THEY ARE A CHEAT. https://youtu.be/gWqmp1shkGE (Follow the link for detailed review on VIP Elite Membership) WE had purchased Timeshare @ The Grand in 2019 and were promised 2 Imperial weeks that includes Presidential Suite @ The Grande..! We used one imperial week in 2021 where we were given access to the grande and in 2023 our access was denied. DURING CONTRACT, we were PROMISED Imperial Weeks with Presidential suite @ the Grande. Just because I downgraded to Sunrise, they said I have not paid for access to the Grande..!! I was using my imperial weeks where no matter I stay be it Grande or Sunrise, I would not pay for stay. So 1st I downgraded myself as I prefer sunrise as only Sunrise has HAMMOCKS and Good OCean View but ALREADY PAID MORE IN ADVANCE FOR THE GRANDE AND THEN THESE PEOPLE HAD GUTS TO SAY I DID NOT PAY FOR THE GRANDE ACCESS..! Just so you all know that we were charged $35,000 - $36000 USD...!!!! For 7 days we stayed, we were asked to use our resort credit to access Grande and pay service fee each person upto $32 so for 6 people we would have ended up paying almost $200 for the VIP ELITE MEMBERSHIP that WE have already purchased and Paid for ..!!! WORSE WAS AS IT WAS SPRING WEEK the resort was so crowded that 2 Restaurants that require Reservations were always fully booked so we never got chance to dine in La Trattoria Italian and Rivera one. Indian restaurant we know is less than 1 * rating and so while we were thinking to dine, I happen to meet an Indian girl who said they already tried and was a garbage..!!! so 3 restaurants were out and we mainly kept dining at Bumgambilias, El Manglar, Gondola, Peppa's, Momo's. El Mangalar and Bugambilias however has international food which was overall great.! We get to try Indian food which was better than Agra Restaurant. However, still not per the Indian standard. one day Paneer and curry both tasted stale and I was actually warned by another Indian lady. My Brother noticed chicken was chewy and not proper. Momo's was aso busy that they had long lines as they did not take reservation so one day I stood in line. Food was okay. Momo Tepanyaki requires reservation but we did not dine there. Regular momos does not require reservation. we always tipped Good servers. Don't forget they had taken away our access to the Grande..! AIRPORT TRANSFER WAS PROMISED BUT when we arrived, customs was a Fish Market. by the time we got out it took us 1.5-2 hours. it was about 6-6:30 pm already. we had started at 6 AM in the morning. we were already tired and now the included Airport shuttle ride told us to wait for 1-1.5 hours..!! yes Palace resort could not even arrange for a bus or more shuttle for passenger pick-up if they knew sooo many people were arriving in that time slot..! so we were FORCED to take a private taxi who charged us $104 USD to go to Moon Palace and convinced us that Resort will Credit us our money as it was not our fault and later Moon Palace Resort denied the Responsibility and said they cannot refund it and that they had already arranged for shuttle service..!! so YES with over $35000 USD of Timeshare even a Proper Shuttle Ride is not Guaranteed...! Before I booked this reservation, Had so many glitches after glitches with their emails, support services, IT services. Moon Palace is getting Worse day by day..! Spa service I noticed @ Sunrise was ok. Pedicure and Manicure some steps were being omitted when the lady was doing of my brother. in my case, lad y could not even paint proper white line for French Manicure look..! the white nail paint was very thick where she had to keep dipping brush and not think to make it thin for proper consistent line..! We visited this resort 7 years ago and it was the stuff of legends. Not anymore. It has gone downhill in an unforgivable way. 1) They no longer have credits for the days you stay. Ergo, you have to pay ungodly much for activities now. Previously, the longer you stayed you got points towards yours and things you could use to visit Mayan ruins and other sites. 2) Now they limit what you can do. Previously, you could catch a bus from one property to another. Now you can not visit the Grande. They also have "exclusive" parts of the resort. 3) They try to sell you their exclusive palace vacation membership... like a timeshare presentation for a crappy property. 4) The food has gone downhill. Used to be fabulous. Now it is very mediocre. 5) They literally lost our reservation despite having booked months in advance and having the confirmation. My partner and I spent 8 hours on the phone (between us) sorting this out. No upgrade. No offer to compensate us for our trouble and time. Moreover, multiple staff were rude to us as if it were our problem! 6) Speaking of rude.... The staff are rude. Also, do not expect them to try to help you at all. They will put you in a perpetual phone tree of people and waste your time. 7) Everything is on your own. Check in requires you fill out your information on an ipad. No personal touch. Even the delicious blue welcome drink is gone. Reservations at events and dinner require you to do them on your own with no help from staff. 8) They force you to download an app To do anything. I asked for a map; denied- use the app. I asked for a list of restaurants; denied- use the app. I asked for the number of restaurants on the property; literally a number- denied. Dinner reservations requires an App. Menus require an app. Room service requires an app (oh and by the way, YOU CAN'T ORDER WATER via room service. Once you drink the bottles in your room, you are on your own). Not everyone wants extra apps. Some people don't own smart phones, have limited phone space, or are privacy conscious (an App is a potential privacy breach). Also, they don't appear to act on requests through the app that they force you to use - see number 10. 9) They extort you by requiring you pay in usd, but only spitting pesos out of the ATM (they advertise that you can get usd). Then you have to pay to exchange. 10) The rum in the room was empty on check-in. I requested a refill. Nothing was done. Used the app for a second request; nothing was done. Used the app concierge request (for paper trail at this point)... was brought soda to "refill the bar". Placed another call... 24 hours after I first reported the issue and rum still not restocked. Don't believe the "if you ever run out, we will be there to refill; no problem" lies. 11) 1000 other things and this is day 2 of 12. Strongly recommend you avoid this place. read more

This hotel has provided us with a nightmare stay this week. It has been raining all week (not their fault). But, so many things have happened as a result of the rain. First, I left our room one morning to go to the hotel gym which was well equipped. However, no signs of sanitizing wipes, hand sanitizers, anything to keep the space as germ free as possible. I returned to our room at 830 AM where my teenage daughters were sleeping to find it flooded with water pouring out of the bathroom phone (yes the phone) and the bathroom light fixture. I called the desk to see if they would mop up the water and just clean our room. We then left to go to the "no pressure" sales pitch at the grand. Where they asked me no less than four times if I was single or widowed. I'm divorced. When we decided against a time share, they walked away from us leaving us in the middle of the resort conference center with no idea how to get back to our hotel. We got back and had lunch. We returned to our room at 230 only to find more water in it and not one sign of anyone had cleaned it up. I asked for a room change. They said they would call us when the room was ready which ended up being 1130 PM and the kids were sleeping. The next day we tried to make the best of it. We went to the Nizuc lobby which was fine and got some time by the pool despite the rain. We went to dinner and came back to our room to find it infested with insects (see pictures). Hundreds of them in our beds, in the vents, everywhere. They granted us a room transfer. I went to public relations to see if they would partially refund our room and they laughed in my face, offering me a 50 dollar credit. I did not take it. I showed them the photos of the hugs in the bed and the man seriously said to me "thats not that many bugs"...? In a five star hotel, what is considered too many bugs? I would think one for what they charge here. We went to Nizuc again for a change of scenery and the roof collapsed as we were sitting in the lobby. (See pic) no one said or did anything to insure for the safety of everyone in the lobby. Lastly, this trip was for my twin daughter's 15th birthday. I had phoned ahead of our trip to pay for ballons in the room on the day of our arrival. They arrived at 830 with half inflated balloons in a trash bag. We had checked in at 3 Our first trip here was amazing and this place has turned into a complete nightmare that could not care less about their paying customers or their safety. Avoid this place like the plague. read more

WARNING to all hard working families : avoid all Palace and Hard Rock resorts.. we have been to five of them and one is worse then the other : they all take advantage of tourists. DO NOT ever buy any of their time shares. It is a waste of money and time. Your better off spending your hard earned money on vacations locally or within the United States. They entice you with tricks and then they run up the tab on you . They resort money is useless and then they charge you 16% resort tax!! Their resort money is as useless as the arcade money kids get at arcades like Chuckee cheese. Save your money and spend it on your self or kids and vacation where and when you want . They also have blackout dates. It is no longer all inclusive , more like exclusive . On top of it you have To wait sometimes 2-3 days to get reservations at restaurants , spa and activities at their own resort. Even at the Grande , the most exclusive section of moon palace : we waited 2-3 days to get into the JC steakhouse , spa and activities. From one hard working family to another : avoid all palace and hard rock resorts and never buy their time shares or any time share if you are smart . Sincerely , hard working parents from United States read more

So, I have just had returned from another trip to Moon palace (4/18/2017). This place is great the staff is very pleasant and they are always looking to please. the grounds are very well kept the food is very tasty and there is a pool for every one. Now the other side they are always looking for ways to get more money from you. and not just a little a lot. Example we wanted to stay longer so we went to the front desk to ask for assistance. They quoted us almost double what Expedia quoted so obviously we used Expedia to book our other room. this made them angry so they told us that we had to move to the other side or pay to stay in our current room. I can understand if they were over sold or full. We then want to change the departure shuttle time because we were going to stay they wanted to charge us more to do that. Lastly we decided to leave, because they would not let us stay in our room when we went to take the shuttle they said they changed it and the shuttle would need 24 hours notice to pick us up so we would need to take a taxi that they contract with. The bottom line make sure you book exactly what you want and don't make or expect any changes with out a hefty fee. go have fun and good luck. read more

I recently stayed at Moon Palace Resort in Cancun with my company, which invests hundreds of thousands of dollars annually to ensure an exceptional experience for our teams. Regrettably, this visit was far from that. Guest Jasmine Renteria room 1605 for management's reference Upon dining at one of their restaurants, we were shocked to encounter a cockroach on our table--an unpleasant surprise in what is supposed to be a diamond-rated resort. The incident was poorly handled. While I requested a substantial resolution, such as compensating the billing for our room, the management's response was underwhelming: they sent an $8 bottle of champagne and chocolate-dipped strawberries with a "Happy Birthday" sign to our room. Given that this is an all-inclusive resort, this gesture felt more like an irritation than a resolution. Overall, the lack of satisfactory handling of this situation has left me deeply disappointed. While Moon Palace boasts grand amenities, our experience was overshadowed by an unfortunate lapse in cleanliness and an inadequate response. Review for your stay aware, and I hope future clients have a more attentive experience. read more

I recently booked a stay at Moon Palace Cancun and was excited for what I thought would be a seamless, luxury experience. However, my excitement quickly turned to frustration when I discovered after paying in full that complimentary airport transportation is only available for stays of 4 nights or more. For a 3-night stay costing over $1,900, I expected airport transfers to be included - or at the very least, this policy to be clearly disclosed before completing the booking. Instead, I only learned about this restriction after receiving my confirmation email, at which point I was informed that I'd need to pay $180 for transportation. This lack of transparency feels excessive and disappointing, especially for a resort marketing itself as high-end. I have not yet stayed at Moon Palace Cancun, but this initial experience leaves me questioning the level of service and communication I can expect during my trip. Policies like this should be made clear before booking, not buried in post-payment fine print. I hope Moon Palace Cancun improves the clarity of its booking process to better match the luxury experience it promises. read more

We recently stayed at Moon Palace Cancun, and overall it was a great family-friendly experience. The resort itself is huge, with endless things to do and plenty of activities for both adults and kids. The service stood out--every staff member we interacted with was attentive and kind. One of the best parts for us as parents was the Playroom, the childcare center where kids can play and be supervised. It gave us peace of mind and some time to ourselves. A special shoutout to Andrea at the Playroom, who was wonderful with my daughter and made her feel so comfortable and happy. The food and drinks were very good, and having room service available made it super convenient after long days at the pool. We definitely took advantage of that. The only real downside was the beach area--unfortunately, it wasn't the clear turquoise water you'd hope for in Cancun. The water was murky, and at times it had a strong smell, so we spent most of our time at the pools instead. Overall, it's a fantastic resort if you're traveling with kids, with excellent service and plenty of entertainment, but don't expect a postcard-perfect beach. read more

I recently attended a wedding at Moon Palace The Grand, and as a guest, I was shocked by the lack of professionalism and care. Several guests, including myself, were told that the bride and groom had left us a gift, only to discover it was just a ploy to sell us a voucher for a future stay--a blatant misrepresentation. My room was also a disappointment, with a rundown and dirty setup, and constant construction noise in the 85 building made it hard to relax. The wedding itself was mishandled on so many levels. From a missing flower arch (that the bride paid nearly $2,000 for) to unannounced services like a churro cart, it felt chaotic. Many of us were left waiting for transportation and missed parts of the cocktail hour. Even the cake was wrong, not matching the simple design the couple requested. For an event that should have been magical, Moon Palace left a bitter taste in all of our mouths. I wouldn't recommend this resort, especially for such important occasions. read more

Do not go to the presentation on this resort. The sales team are unethical. They are rude and will lie to your face. No customer service once they get your money. Recently they have 2 Americans arrested and been in maximum prison since the beginning of March. What the couple did is they complained to their credit card company because moon palace breach their contract. The credit card company sided with the couple and reverse the charges. Moon Palace have the couple arrested with no bail. Shame on moon Palace corrupt businesss practices. read more

This resort is just way to big. You walk for ever just to get to the pool, or dinner or anything you want to do. The pool is not heated and was a little too cold to really spend much time in. The food was ok, but by the middle of the week you get tired of the same selections. It did have a surf rider that was included which was fun, although the lines could get kind of long. The other palace resorts are more interesting and more relaxing, especially the one at Playa Del Carman. read more

We stayed at Moon Palace Resort Nizuc. Overall, the resort is nice, staff were well-trained & friendly. You won't be hungry. Just don't expect the food to be great tasting, they taste ok no matter which restaurant you choose. Breakfast served the same at every restaurant, EXCEPT when they try to get you to buy their so-called "timeshares" or whatever their private term is. Tips: not worth buying read more

Worst resort I've been too, and I still have to be here 2 more days. don't waste your money. The place is just a high pressure sales position pitch to buy into their 'program'. We stayed in room 3419 from July 7th through July 11 after checking out the front desk, they stole my wife's two purses from our suitcase and we had over $2500 cash inside of it.
