When alerted to my allergies, he made sure to check with the chef and make good recommendations on things I could have and still enjoy my time out. Each staff member were very friendly and pleasant. Ambiance - 5/5 This location was very clean and orderly - even the restroom! There was plenty of seating inside and outside. The temp within the building was perfect - not to cold or hot. Food - 3/5 Now, for the most important part - FOOD. This is where they fell a little short for me. I ordered: - The Salmon Salad (one of the specials) - The Philly Cheesesteak (one of the specials) - comes with a side (fries) - 5 wings with blue cheese Due to my allergies, I changed out the strawberry dressing for blue cheese and ranch. The salmon salad was pretty good overall. I believe the strawberry dressing would have given it the balance it needed of a hint of sweetness from the fruit. But it was still good. Where things fell short was the cheesesteak. I did it with the wings as take out. The flavors of the cheesesteak were off. I shared it with others and we all said it was a seasoning on the meat or something that didn't go well. It didn't have the taste you are familiar with when it comes to a classic cheesesteak. It wasn't horrible but it wasn't something we would order again - you know things just ain't forever one. This was one for us. It might be something great for someone else. The wings and fries were good. The fries had a good seasoning to them and the wings weren't hard - so all good in our book. We will definitely return to try other items on the menu. read more

This visit was a mixed bag for us. Interior was austere, lacking any type of color or ambiance. Service was excellent, very friendly staff. Men's bathroom was a hoot with monkey themed wallpaper. Unfortunately the women's bathroom got boring blue and white flowers. :( My husband got the chicken sandwich, he loved the chicken but the biscuit was hard as a rock and dry as the Sahara desert. The Brunch menu is very heavy on breakfast choices. There were also three salads and several different versions of hamburgers. The fries were good, and the hand mixed cherry Cokes were awesome! My prime rib burger had an odd taste to me. This is probably a much better place to go for regular lunch or dinner. We were just passing through but we enjoyed the hospitality! read more

If there were other brunch spots in the area Parkside would close. The food is very basic, no spices no flavor...just salt and pepper The service is also lack luster...we went on Mother's Day and the staff was anticipating a big crowd and they were not friendly. They also need uniforms. The girls got their butts out! And the guy that brought out the food slammed the food on the table. .. Let's start with the espresso martini , Sorry to say it's not what is listed as ,on the Parkside house cocktail menu. The first try, it was only coffee. The second try, they added Irish cream to it. Still wrong. No vanilla vodka at all. Took the martini back to the bartender he wouldn't even talk to me, so the manager came over. He showed me some kind of coffee Lacore that they used to make it with. So the second attempt is still sitting on the table with a couple sips out of it. Just got the check the martini is still on the check we're not gonna fight it. Haven't tasted the cheeseburger yet because I ordered it with provolone cheese and it came out with cheddar. They're remaking the burger now. Second attempt came out perfect, except for the tater tots. They were cold. But they made it right, brought out an extra plate of hot tater tots. Let's move on to the ribeye that was ordered medium rare came out well done. The meatloaf was good. The French dip was excellent The broccoli was heavily infused with garlic. The second ribeye steak that was ordered rare came out medium rare, which was acceptable. Our server, Riley was very good. The kitchen staff seems to lack experience. Being that, this is an open air type restaurant, it was very loud and noisy. We were still able to hear each other around the table. So overall 7 out of 10. Going to pass on dessert. read more

The service is great. The staff here are warm and welcoming. I'm going to assume all the seafood here is farm raised since there wasn't any details on the menu and the server couldn't say yes or no. He said, it's whatever is available local, whatever that means. I really enjoyed the pineapple press martini. I also enjoyed the Mediterranean bowl, although it was in a plate, I added shrimp and that was a nice addition. Overall, great experience and food. This is a relaxing place for our little group to meet for catch up every couple of months. The servers are great and the food has been delicious. The only thing that seemed off tonight was the queso served with the giant Bavarian pretzel. There is ample outdoor dining and a full-service bar with a good selection of draft beers. I particularly like the diverse menu and surprising variations on many tried and true classics. The Deviled Eggs starter is kicked up a notch with the addition of Jalapeño and Bacon. I really like the Chicken & Waffle Sandwich. The slightly crunchy Belgian Waffle is wrapped around a crispy fried Chicken Breast and topped with Hot Chipotle Honey - yum! If you are looking for a plate full of pure comfort food, try Mom's Meatloaf. The substantial portion of this old-fashioned favorite brought back fond memories of mom's kitchen. For something a little out of the ordinary, try that Canadian favorite (with a twist) Short Rib Poutine. The French Fries are smothered in a Hot Jalapeño Gravy, Garlicky Cheese Curds, Green Onions and chunks of Fork-Tender Boneless Short Ribs - so delicious. For something more basic, there's a very good Grilled Chicken Sandwich on a Brioche Bun. The fresh House Salad with Lettuce, shredded Cabbage and Carrots, Cucumber and Cherry Tomatoes is a perfect accompaniment for this hearty winner. There were a couple of items that missed the mark - at least with us. The Veggie Wrap with Coleslaw was bland and uninteresting and the slaw was not to our liking. My friends who live in the area had taken me earlier in the week here and the grilled chicken sandwich with tasty, hot crunchy tater tots. I had seen the pork chop on the menu then and decided to return. The hostess seated me quickly at a window seat and I saw a beautiful sunset. My server was gracious, telling me why there was a delay, Uber Eats orders had come in. Soon after that my food arrived. The pork chop was cooked perfectly, moist and well seasoned. The green beans were a little crunchy at the spot between well done and underdone, perfect. The mash potatoes could have been thicker, and tasted good. Lots of families on the green outside the restaurant this Saturday, so seating inside wasn't a problem. I'll be back when I visit again. read more

I visited the Parkside Restaurant in Wendell with my wife and another couple on a recent Friday night. Our friends got there before us and were already seated. We walked in and were greeted warmly and directed to our seated friends. We ordered drinks which consisted of Michelin Ultras and an Apple Cider Margarita and Strawberry Jalapeño Margarita. The Margaritas were delicious and so were the apps! Our entrees consisted of a French Dip, a burger, a salad, and a top sirloin steak. The steak was cooked to order; a beautiful medium rare. My wife is dairy and egg intolerant and her salad came out with hard boiled eggs. They promptly took the salad back and quickly came back with her replacement salad, which was perfect. All in all, our experience at Parkside was very positive. The food was excellent and the service was very good. They handled the one issue like true professionals. I was looking forward to my brunch at Parkside in Wendell as the Raleigh location is great. The building is new and parking is easier at Wendell Falls than Raleigh. I was tempted to go with the short rib benedict again but thought I should try something new and went with the prime rib scramble bowl as I liked the combination of eggs; prime rib; tater tots; and cheddar cheese. I did request no onions but this dish had onions. Maybe it couldn't be done without but I could have been informed. My first bite was of luke warm mushrooms. It seemed that part of the dish was hot but the rest wasn't. I'm not sure if it sat out too long before being delivered or if it just wasn't cooked long enough. The others I was with didn't finish their meals either. The restaurant was pretty empty while we were there so I am not sure if others already decided that this restaurant is lacking. A decent spot in the Wendell Falls area. The fried pickles, wings, French fries, steak frites, nachos (yeahhhhh w/black eye peas), kids chicken tenders, kids burgers & veggie Alfredo. We've tried all of these on three different occasions and would recommend this spot to anyone looking for a good bite to eat! Haven't tried the drinks here yet, but looking forward to it. Inside is spacious and the servers are always polite. The outside area is super nice and well layer out so that the kiddos can run around and have a great time after lunch/dinner. read more

We ended up in Wendell after a long day of exploring the area, and are so happy we gave Parkside a try! The service was great, food was delicious, and environment was chill. There is even a nice sized bar area to chill and watch games. We will definitely be back if we move to the area - or even just when driving through. The meatloaf was so so, I guess it was the manager that walked by asked how things were and I mentioned to him that the meatloaf gravy was so salty. We really love the Raleigh location and was looking for the same experience. Brand new restaurant, so clean and nice ambience but no sound deadening. The night we were there was so loud that it was more like a club than casual restaurant. We shared a stroganoff since it is our favorite entree from the Raleigh location. The dish was over cooked, mushy noodles and the beef was completely shredded instead of the nice chunks we come to expect. Service was good, no issues. read more

Our first time eating here and the restaurant is very clean and bright. It was kinda empty which was a red flag walking in on a Friday evening but we gave it a shot. The service was very good, the waitress was very attentive and check on us frequently. The next red flag was the lemons that came with our water, they were brown around the edges like they had been cut way earlier in the day and they were trying to just use them up. The food was just okay at best. It looked way better than it actually tasted. My wife had the BLT sandwich and she thought it was fine but honestly it's kinda hard to mess that up. I had the fish and chips because it was on special but it wasn't that special. The fries were under cooked and the breading on the fish fell off the fish way too easily and the fish kinda crumbled apart. I also got a side Caesar salad which was pretty good but overall I wasn't that impressed and we will probably not go back. read more

My family and I have been here 4 or 5 times. Unfortunately, it has been hit or miss. Some entrees are good, others not so much. There just doesn't seem to be consistency with the food quality. This is literally the best chicken wings. You will have anywhere in the triangle. My chicken biscuit bowl with jalapeño gravy over grits is always phenomenal. We highly recommend this restaurant. Well, some things are great and some not so great. Let's start with what was great. Nice facility, its brand new, nice seating, nice ambiance, staff was very pleasant. Some of the dishes were great. The poutine small plate was amazing. Definitely get this. The pimento cheese and crackers was a solid appetizer, nice job with that as well. For entrees, the meatloaf, stroganoff, and the French Dip were all very good, no complaints. Not so nice was the Fried Chicken special. The sides were just tasteless. The black eyed peas, the green beans were pretty bad. The mashed potatoes were OK. The chicken was not chicken pieces, but boneless chicken breast battered and fried. Not a show stopper, but not what I was expecting. The worst was the surf and turf. The fish was not seasoned and the steak was, wow, so bad. I think it must have been marinated in something very acidic. The outside tasted chalky, it was really awful. So, the good things will make me come back for another try, and to be fair, they just opened, so I will try again. I'll update the review after I go again. read more

The first time was nice-attentive service, food came out quickly (although it was lunch so I would expect that), and the sandwiches were pretty decent. We ordered takeout for dinner. The process of getting the food was fine. We got home and realized they hadn't provided any utensils, napkins, or condiments! Okay fine, we have some ketchup in the fridge. But when you order a French Dip sandwich for $16 you expect to have jus with it! They just have us the sandwich and tots. I didn't think to open the bag and the container to check. So pro-tip: make sure you double-check that they've given you utensils, ask for condiments, and open your container before you leave! read more

The atmosphere was fine and the staff was "nice", but the service overall left much to be desired. My girlfriend ordered a club sandwich and requested no tomato. She also asked for the tater tots. What she received was a sandwich not only with tomato, but the juice sopped through the bread. The tater tots also were inferior to the OreIda brand bought in the supermarkets. My cheeseburger came out lukewarm and the melted cheese was already sweating, which indicated it sat for some time before serving. To wit, service was slow, the staff did not pay attention to the order, and the food was barely edible. We will not return to the Parkside. read more

This is my favorite spot to eat in Wendell Falls. The whole menu is comfort food, that is well executed.
