Came in to see Dr. Dang and her hygienist for a yearly cleaning. Do not make the same mistake I did and google map the wrong Moon Valley! There are a couple in the area with similar names. The Dr repaired my broken denture, then was extremely thorough in getting my new set made. I made several visits to ensure the proper fit. I don't remember precisely when I visited this office, though it was at the start of the year (sometime around January, maybe earlier). I knew I needed some work. The dentist I'd seen two years ago did a terrible job and I knew several fillings had to be redone and some cavities filled. Well, I received a treatment plan that went into the five digit range. As in $XX,XXX. Even with my dental insurance, this was impossible for me. My only choice was to seek out second opinions and hope things weren't truly that bleak. I am so glad I did. After seeing several other dentists, the general consensus was I needed very minor work done (mostly various fillings, some more complicated than others), and it would run me around $2,000. If others have had better experiences here, then I'm very happy for them. Maybe this was a one-time fluke that didn't work out in my favor. All I know is, the treatment plan I received here was extensive, complicated, and extraordinarily costly and that multiple second opinions showed I needed nothing that drastic nor expensive. However, your mileage may vary. My advice is that if you feel they are telling you that you need more work than you actually think you do, please seek out another opinion as I did. Update: it's been over a year since I had my dental work done at the office I selected. I'm pleased to say I still haven't had any problems and my teeth are doing beautifully, which confirms my gut feeling that I made the correct decision in finding another dentist. read more

My husband and I have been going to Moon Valley Dentistry since we moved to Arizona three years ago. During that time we have had our teeth cleaned twice a year. The hygienist does the best job we've ever had and we thought we had excellent care in the Chicago area! I thought it was just a first visit thing that she was so thorough then we found that she does the same kind of outstanding work every time we go in. The next reason for the five star review occurred when the dentist determined that I needed a root canal and that I should go to a specialist rather than doing it in the office like they normally would. The endodontist commended him for sending me because he said that although root canals are basically all he's done for 30 years, my root was so calcified that even with his expertise and specialized equipment he wasn't sure he would be able to find the root. He did find and took care of it but I am thankful that the dentist at Moon Valley knew that it would take a specialist and did not try to do it in the office. The last experience that I had involved a crown for the tooth that I had the root canal done on. This was something that the endodontist told me would be necessary otherwise the old tooth would turn dark due to the fact that there was no root there anymore. There was a problem with the color of the crown. It looked bad when I went out into the sun. I returned and they said that they would replace the crown and make sure that the new crown looked perfect inside and outdoors. I was worried but they did exactly what they said they would and my new crown looks perfect. During the every step of getting the crown replaced everyone at the office was wonderful and kind. I truly appreciate the entire staff at Moon Valley. Everyone I've worked with from the receptionist, the payment person, the hygienist, the dental assistant and the dentist have done a great job and made me feel welcome, safe and comfortable each time I go. Ive been coming here for years, I was a patient of Dr.Phan's, I can honestly Say i never had a bad experience. she was great, the staff there was more than friendly, very respectful and always had a smile on their faces,she sold the office about 2 years ago, and yes i was worried about the new transition and new dr, when i walked in for my appt, and saw familiar faces i immediately felt better, the front office was sweet and welcoming, the assitants talk to me through every single step of what they were doing. I have been a patient for around 5 or 6 years. I originally loved the place. It was the best dentist office I have been to with a very friendly staff and an awesome dentist But it is under new ownership and I will never return. I went in with some tooth pain in April or May. I was very descriptive about the type of pain I was experiencing. The dentist did some test and said the tooth was OK and could be saved, we just needed to put a crown on it. Now a few months later I am still having issues with the same tooth and when I told them its hot or cold liquid or food that causes the problem, the exact same thing I told them originally, they tell me I now need a root canal. During my initial visit for this problem the dentist was on the phone nonstop and obviously couldn't be bothered to listen to what I was telling him. Then today I took my kids to have their 6 month cleaning and their appointments had been lost in a system update. I can deal with technical issues and having lost the appt. really wouldn't have bothered me much but having the receptionist, one I have never seen before, treat me like I am wasting her time, complete with dirty looks and eye rolling, was the last straw for me.
