I've been coming to Life Smiles for about a year now and they are still exceeding my expectations every time. I've had some traumatic incidents with dental offices and Life Smiles has shown their hard work, dedication, and pure intentions from the beginning that they are the ones you can trust. I initially came in to replace 2 crowns and was nervous about how things would turn out, but Dr Schmidt eased my concerns and worked with me through and through to ensure I was more than happy with what I got. They are very thorough when it comes to crowns, I got a custom shade and we had to change it twice to ensure I was happiest with what I got. The employees here are really really genuinely nice. I switched dentists because my last dental office was not a good fit. I mostly had a great experience here. I recently had a cavity refilled and the dentist was really gentle and tried to ease my tensions since my last experience (with another dentist/office) was awful. The reason why I dock a star is because the assistant helping the dentist was a little careless and messy. She would get water all over my face, neck, and I felt like I was getting a little shower. I think on another occasion, I had the same issue. Overall though, I would recommend since they all are so friendly. read more

This office and all staff is absolutely magnificent and deserve 10 Stars!!! Before I found Life Smiles in 2017, my lifes previous dental experiences had been mediocre at best. After being quoted an exorbitant amount for some periodontal work, I researched reviews finding this practice and Dr. Schmidt. We agreed what I had been previously prescribed may have been a bit agressive and elected to treat the primary areas 1st, taking a more conservative approach and see how I healed. A year later and 1/2 the price, my gums were very healthy. I've continued cleanings with Jackie, who is also amazing, every 4 months and still have no periodontal issues. Over the next several years, several implants and crowns later, not only was my mouth healthier than in my entire life, my smile esthetics had improved 1000%. Now The REAL PIECE DE RESISTANCE...almost a year ago, Easter Eve, due to a fall I had taken a few months earlier, my 2 beautiful front crowns completely failed. In hiding for the next 18 hours I anquished over what the heck I was going to do. Early afternoon it occured to me to leave a message @ Life Smiles so I could possibly get in as soon as possible the next day. No more than 20 minutes later, EASTER AFTERNOON, Dr. Schmidt was on the phone! 20 minutes after that, I was scheduled Monday @ 7:30AM with Dr. Nielson, who is equally amazing! By far the best dentist I've ever gone to!!The entire staff is so friendly and incredibly accommodating. They definitely have a warm and welcoming feel. Their office is aesthetically pleasing, very clean as well. I went to them as a new patient and was originally just interested in a consultation. They were very informative and gave me different options for what I was interested in as well as explaining the procedure and what to expect. I was able to see before and after pictures which was really helpful and I felt very comfortable with their level of expertise and knowledge. They were great at answering any questions I had as well. I've been going to this office for nearly 18 months and haven't written a review yet because, until yesterday, all I've received was regular cleanings and check-ups. I'm one of those people you hear about that get irrationally anxious about dental work. Seriously, it starts a couple days before the appointment. For me, the true test of a dentist is how comfortable I feel during more involved procedures. Yesterday, that was some major work to prep for a bridge for my upper back molars. Omg, I love this office. My original dentist retired and sold his practice to Life Smiles. We loved our original dentist so we were a little skeptical of the new practice. A few months ago I had a terrible tooth ache on a holiday weekend. I called the office not expecting anything but actually got hold of Dr Neilson who was able to get me medication immediately for the pain and also an appointment the next day! I was floored!!! Who can call their dentist office on a weekend and be able to actually talk to the doctor? I can with Life Smiles. I went in to my appointment and Dr Nielsen was able to fix my tooth in his office without having to send me out. It was an amazing experience!! At first I was skeptical of the reviews, but finding consistent positive reviews outside of Yelp, I gave it a shot. And I'm so glad I did!! To start, I have some of the worst anxiety when it comes to the dentist and as a result, it had been over 10 years since I had last been seen with one. Walking in, everyone was extremely friendly and personable. My biggest fear was tooth shaming that some dentists do, but I received none of that here which was wonderful. I was originally scheduled with Dr. Nielsen but saw Dr. Schmidt instead. Very wonderful man with gentle hands and will definitely return to him in the future. Hilary was my hygienist as she was thorough with the cleaning and able to get the staining off my teeth. I didn't feel pressured into any additional services, just given options if I wanted to do anything in the future which were items I brought up rather than them trying to sell services to me. Somehow I made it 10 years with only two cavities (plus one filling re-do) and they were able to schedule me two days later (today) to get them fixed. Now that the Novocain has worn off, my teeth or mouth aren't sore at all and my bite feels just like it did before he filled them in. Everything in the office is extremely clean and new. The hygienists and dentist both explained everything they were doing to help ease my anxiety. While initially I had wanted to inquire about some sort of sedation, I never did and never felt too much anxiety once they had started their work. There's also a wonderful view of Phoenix Mountain Preserve, Dreamy Draw, and Camelback to look at to help keep you distracted, too. Seriously cannot believe I'm writing a positive review for a dentist. I've hated it since I was a little kid (there's a great polaroid of me as a toddler with the biggest look of fear in the chair for my first appointment), but now I'm actually looking forward to my 6-month checkup with the team. Upon walking in you are greeted by a friendly staff member and then taken on a tour around the office. The office is immaculately clean and modern with all the latest technology. Once you are seated and go through X-Rays you are given a remote to watch any tv program you would like (Old school dentist all around the world are currently cringing, we are smiling). These tv's are then used to show you exactly what is going on in your mouth and how exactly they are going to fix it. The cleaning was the most pain and anxiety free experiences I have had, and now when I picture returning for my next appointment it is not with dread! WOW! This was the best experience I've ever had at a dentist's visit! I'm going to start from the beginning, so you can get a look at my whole experience. First off, scheduling the appointment was really easy. I spoke with Monique (who was super friendly) and she was able to schedule me for an appointment during my first preference. She let me know that I would need to fill out some paperwork on the Life Smiles website, and then I received a confirmation phone call the day before my appointment to confirm the date and time. When I arrived for my appointment, the first thing I noticed was how nice the office is! It's located in the Agua Caliente complex, which is a really beautiful area. I was greeted by Monique and handed in my paperwork to be processed. A quick 5-10 minutes later, I was escorted into the back with Kelly to get my teeth cleaned. Kelly was absolutely fantastic! She was really friendly and did a great job doing my X-rays and cleaning my teeth. One of the coolest things about my experience was getting pictures taken of my teeth. They bring out a heavy duty camera and take high definition pictures of your smile and your teeth in different angles. I moved on to Dr. Paul, who was also great. He completed my standard dental exam quickly, and he showed me the pictures of my teeth on an ipad. It was really cool! Overall, I would highly recommend this office to anyone who's looking for a new dentist. I was in and out in about an hour and 45 minutes for a full exam, and I received EXCELLENT customer service. He really seems to care about his patients and to listen to them. He was able to save my tooth instead of getting a crown by redoing a bad filling. A++ in my book. Excellent Doctor, friendly staff, clean atmosphere, and the best part is that you get to watch TV or music with headphones while you are getting your teeth cleaned. I have been looking for a new Dentist in the valley, one with TVs in all, and my coworker recommended Life Smiles Dental Care off Tatum and Shea. I went to Dr. Nielson for my six month routine cleaning/check up. Dr. Nielson's staff greeted me and gave me a tour of the very clean, elegantly designed office. After an office tour, I was able to brush my teeth and get ready for my appointment. After brushing, one of the staff members brought me into a room, where she took pictures of my teeth with a digital camera and mirror. After taking a few photos, Dr. Nielson came and introduced himself to me. He examined my teeth (told me I had very straight and white teeth for never having braces) and said that my pictures did not show any cavities! Dr. Nielson was very professional and thanked me for being a new patient. After speaking with Dr. Nielson, one of his staff members brought me into another room where my teeth were going to be cleaned. This room had a flat screen TV in front of the window, where I was able to pick out my favorite TV show before starting. The cleaning lasted about an hour. I felt very refreshed with nice clean, white teeth afterwards. I just love going to the Denist! After the appointment was over, one of the staff members gave me a little package with a card showing my next appointment, along with my new toothbrush, toothpaste, and floss. I have been recommending my friends to Dr. Nielson and they all agree that his office is truly impeccable. If you want the best customer service and great results, you have to go here. Im not a fan of going to the dentist office. I just never liked sitting in a dentist chair and let people poke at my gums and teeth. But when you enter Life Smiles Dental Care you are greeted by a friendly staff and all smiles. They make you feel comfortable from the moment you walk in until the time you leave. I usually get my teeth cleaned by Maryellen the dental hygienist. She makes you feel very comfortable throughout the cleaning process. She's very thorough, and you can tell she loves what she does. And they have some great views of the mountains from the dental chair. My dentist, Dr. Nielson is very friendly and very attentive to you, your teeth and your needs. Dr. Nielson is very thorough and open-minded. He will work with you to get a final result that you are happy with. So why am I not rating him a 5.0? Because if you have many appointments you will find this is a very controlling office and dentist. You will probably never experience this for a checkup every six months or replacing a filling, etc. However if you have many appointments this office will wear on you. Let me tell you specifics. On my first day the form I had to fill out required my birthdate and social security number. (Isn't this office aware of identity theft and that doctors and dentists no longer ask for this?) I left the items blank and his office manager then proceeded to harass me about it that day and for the next few visits. Is it her or Nielson who is the control freak? Maybe it is both of them. She could not explain to me why the SS# is needed, only that "this is policy." Well it is my policy to not give out the SS# and the federal government suggests all of us to do the same. There are problems with appointments. He is in only three days a week (M, Tu, and Wed). If you need many appointments this causes your work to stretch out over months, not just weeks. I commend him for having some evening appointments on those three days but personally, I would rather be doing other things at 9:00 pm than having my teeth whittled away. And how good is he after working 16 hour days??? So it is honestly a mixed bag. A skilled dentist who is personable but an environment that requires you to comply with its must-haves, not what you want to do or what is convenient for you. read more
