I recently purchased 2 trees from La Verne Moon Valley. One Carrotwood and one Green Gem Ficus. They are over 20ft tall and about the same wide! I went to just about every large tree farm in Southern California including all but one Moon Valley (Palm Springs). Most other large tree farms (and there are not many) are hands off and focused on commercial purchases. They gave me quotes for the tree but I could tell I wasn't their target market. Every sales person has their own style and tree selection will vary (of course) Some standout experiences were Huntington Beach, Irvine, Escondido and La Verne. If you are specifically shopping for very large trees let me save you a lot of time - La Verne Moon Valley. They have more very large trees (120 spec and up) than many other nurseries COMBINED. I worked with Jesus and if you are looking for low pressure, nice as hell, genuine guy - ask for him. This was one of the largest purchases for our house that my GF and I have made so feeling comfortable was paramount. And he keeps in contact with me regularly. Perhaps more importantly than that is the process after the purchase. The tree planting was a big multi-step ordeal considering the size of the trees and Moon Valley took care of things - coming back until I was completely satisfied. Lastly, get the MVP program and insurance for big purchases. I do not have a green thumb so having an arborist come to check on things is vital. I have had one visit with Travis and he was just as customer service oriented as Jesus. He spent well over an hour explaining things to me and answering my questions. He took the time necessary to prune and clean the trees and didn't rush. We talked about different watering strategies and signs I can look out for that could be problems. He even gave me advice on some citrus trees I have on my property. He gave me some green juice after noticing they were iron deficient. He was absolutely right - they are looking way more green and healthy since then! Time will tell on the insurance process (I'll update if I use it) but it's a peace of mind issue. With the storms recently one is looking like it's struggling a bit so knowing they will replace this giant tree helps me sleep at night. read more

Best place in the area to buy plants! They have a great variety in stock and can also always get whatever else I need. I have used them for years. You can find plants other places cheaper, but the plants here are two to three times the size of what you find at smaller nurseries for only a little more. Great customer service too! read more

Great big ripoff. Be super careful of a business that can't retain its sales staff and advertises financing before you've gotten out of the car. The product here is way over priced and they try to compensate with high pressure sales tactics that even that staff doesn't believe. I purchased a couple of trees in December of 2024 to replace previous trees that I failed to keep alive. Initially I purchased a service plan but didn't think it would be beneficial. The service technician (Ramon Morales) didn't mind getting down and dirty in the dirt. He also showed and gave detailed instructions and information on proper care and feeding of the trees. I used his information to care for my other trees and this past year was their best. Best of all he never pressured me to buy anything from him or Moon Nurseries. He's got a great personality and it feels like talking with a friend. I renewed for another year of service based primarily on his technical skills and professionalism. Moon Valley called to check in with me regarding my plantings that I had purchased from them and right after I stated 'I wish you had a tree service", they informed that they now have one! Yay! Ramon was able to go check on my 'babies' event though I wasn't able to be there in person. The service includes three visits per year, trimming, fertilizing, soil conditioning, their sorcial 'moon juice', soil testing and checking for any disease or fungus. I got a full report from Ramon AND I was able a few more trees to my plan that were not purchased at Moon Valley. We originally had an appt w another sales person but he was not in, for the morning we arrived and Jesus Contreras came our right way and introduced himself. I purchased five trees from Moon Valley nursery who planted them. At the time I purchased the plant maintenance on two. Ramon Morales serviced both trees about three months after planting. I had some concerns which I discussed with him about the trees. He answered my questions and also expanded with why he was doing and what I should be doing between visits. He came out for the second service and due to his knowledge and how he answered my questions I added the other two trees. I will be renewing at least for another year as I am confident with his knowledge and communication skills it will ensure they get a healthy start. I look forward to watching them grow and my fruit trees provide me with healthy fruit. I would highly recommend Mr. Morales and Moon Valley. We've been so happy with the relationship we've had with Moon. Over a year ago we purchased 5 fairly large trees. At the same time, we also purchased an MVP servicing plan for each tree. The installation of these 5 trees went beautifully. However, one of them was supposed to be a Valencia Orange tree. It was clearly tagged as Valencia but as the fruit started growing, it became apparent it was not a Valencia. Since this was an error on Moon's part, we asked the tree be replaced without invoking (using up) our 1 year warranty of guaranteed replacement, no questions asked. We asked for a new tree and the incumbent 1 year warranty of guaranteed replacement for the replacement tree and for the a 1 year MVP plan on it too. Moon agreed to both of our requests and we had the new tree installed just as cleanly as the original 5 trees. If you are thinking of landscaping or new trees, this is a company who is in it for the long haul. They believe in fostering customer satisfaction and seeing to the details. Often it is difficult to find a company who wants to do small jobs. Moon is the exception and exceptional. read more

Today we had our first MVP service from Moon Valley Nurseries. Ramon Morales sent us a text 30 minutes before he arrived and he was incredibly helpful, professional and friendly during his visit. We thought he would be inspecting our 5 new trees and perhaps giving us some advice on their care. We were so off base! Ramon checked and trimmed each tree, giving each tree a lot of time and care to make sure he was shaping them well. He tested the soil, reformed the wells around each tree, fertilized them, added mulch, and cleaned up after himself. We were thoroughly impressed with how much work he actually did. We asked many questions, and got such great answers from him - about our 5 new trees, and also answers about some of our new plants and an old palm tree that had been blown over during the Santa Ana winds last month.
