My husband offered to buy me trees for my birthday. I am from Hawaii and don't know much about what grows well in the area. As soon as we parked, Raymond met us in the parking lot to greet us. He answered at least 90 minutes of questions as he drove us around the acreage in his Gator (which my 4 year old son loved) and explained the benefit of the trees. Once I settled on fruit trees, Raymond had us sample some of the fruit were we thinking of. I wanted to thank Moon Valley Nurseries for this amazing tree care service they rolled out in recent years. I purchased a tree from their store in Torrance and it was not doing well. I consulted with them and learned about this great service and I immediately signed up. It is just soooo cool to have a specialist to come and check on my Lucy (my tree name). I was paired up with Ramon, who was very punctual, texted ahead of our meeting to confirm our appointment and give me a 30 mins window of his arrival. He was super knowledgeable, very professional, listened to my ideas on how I want to shape Lucy, and he did things exactly how I asked him. No arguments, fuss, ego, but amazing work. We finally bought a tree and the moon valley staff was great. Their selection and variety were impressive. This is definitely the Porsche dealership for trees. Service: really good, super knowledgeable and will work with you to make sure you're happy. I texted them bunch of questions and they answered everything. They sent over 7 guys to deliver, crane and help plant the tree. They had to hoist the tree up over a 5 ft fence too! They didn't mess around - wham bam in 2 hours. Big thanks to Paulo, Israel, Jose m danilo, seewell la verne! Tree: we originally wanted a Chinese elm but after speaking with Anthony, we decided to buy a mature ficus instead. Anthony explained the differences, pros and cons, didn't try to upsell us. The ficus is about 20ft tall. She's gorgeous. We asked about our water lines and they said it's a special patented breed that has less aggressive rooting. They had a few left so we moved fast. Once again Moon Valley Nurseries hit the ball out of the park! The La Verne, Ca. location is my go to for all off my landscape plant and tree needs. Our sales person, Anthony and Seth the GM know their craft, plant, and tree species very well. They take all factors into consideration regarding the project. They take the time to ask questions, providing and delivering the best options for our project. They are in constant communication with you regarding the delivery, contacting Dig Alert, install crew foreman and quality control follow up. Try finding friendly knowledgeable individuals at a major hardware store with a garden center or a Garden Center. Not happening at all and I'm talking from experience. They will drive you around the nursery showing you all and every option and species of plant's or tree's for your project. As for price, you get what you pay for. I would rather spend a little more money for a well established rooted plant or tree that has no issues after transplanting. Our friends comment on the growth and quick establishment of plants and trees we had installed. It was like an insta-yard. They said it's due to all the rain. I said BS it's the Moon juice fertilizer. My opinion it's the best fertilizer on the market. Yes the rain helped but I followed the instructions and recommended water and Moon Juice fertilizer dosage. I'm hooked and going back for citrus tree's! Went in looking for more mature Creeping Figs than what's available at Lowe's. Its initially a little confusing, though I am an admitted yard care neophyte - one parks by a trailer filled with sales dudes and you sort of wait by your car for someone to walk out and help you. Like a Honda dealership, but make it for plants. Rich, or Rick, can't recall his name precisely, was extremely helpful and super nice! Walked me through the yard, encouraged me to explore, nice sense of humor. But, sadly, they were out of creeping figs. So I left my name and number and he promised to call me back once they arrived. Three weeks later, no call. So I called. Someone named Patrick answered, he was chipper and nice too. I told him about my convo with Rick, he said the name didn't ring a bell. He informed me that he thought they had Creeping Figs in a week ago, but were out again. I left my name and number and he promised to call me back once they came in. Another three weeks later, no call. So I called. Anthony this time. Another doll. Anthony told me that they had Creeping Figs in stock, and I should come on in to buy 'em. I was really really disappointed that I had left my name and number so many times with this company and, despite many Creeping Figs coming in and out of their nursery, no one ever bothered to call me. Yes they have a lot of trees and plants - yes they are very nice when you are purchasing from them. And yes, they tell you that they guarantee their plants for a year if their team plants them. But if you actually have some issues with the plants that they planted, they won't call you back, they won't email you or text you back. You're on your own. So those high prices that you pay for those plants that they insist are going to be hardy because they're raised outdoors... you're on your own if anything goes wrong. We had a few plants start to die in-between healthy hedge trees and I emailed, called, texted and left voicemail messages for our sales person, the assistant manager and no one has responded. It's unfortunate and we feel taken advantage of. read more

I went to Moon Valley Nursery to get a large tree for our front yard. I met with Christian Frese, who was AWESOME. The nursery is huge, and full of gorgeous trees and plants, all meticulously cared for and clearly thriving. Christian took me to the row of tree varietal I had been considering and walked me up and down, patiently explaining the structural and health aspects of each of them. He was thorough, knowledgeable, and friendly, and made the whole experience really enjoyable.
