Absolutely love this place! Ever since ordering cupcakes here for my sister's graduation party we have officially made the switch to Moonlight Cakes for every celebration we have. We receive numerous compliments from friends and family telling us how delicious the cakes are and asking for the name and location. It had an odd texture and no cream cheese apparently. And they seem to have stopped using extracts in the frosting now? The frosting was the texture of whipped shaving cream. Very foamy and does NOT taste like a butter cream. It tastes like the butter was substituted for some type of oil? The actual cakes do not taste scratch made either. This is the first time these cupcakes have been barely edible. And for the price?!!! I really wish I could get my money back. Spent over 30 dollars and I can't serve them. 3.5 if I could rate it. First had moonlight cakes at a Yelp event. The cake was amazing, it was their "wedding cake" almond vanilla flavor. Everyone loved it and as a cake, it was very moist. The chocolate cake was okay. Good but not as good as the wedding cake. So I came here to buy some of the wedding cake cupcakes, Blushing bride. It is not as good. The cupcakes were VERY stale. So it was disappointing. The strawberry was not stale. I think it cost $4 per cupcake or something. So pretty let down since we could not eat the cupcakes and it was tossed. Not sure if I will come back and get another cupcake here. Maybe their cakes are good Bc it is bigger and stays moist longer. Or the cupcakes are just not selling as hot and were old in the shelf. Such a cute bakery! From the moment I walked in, their customer service was too notch too! You will have a good variety of cake pops, cookies, and cupcakes to choose from but into many that you'll never come to a decision. They also have cocoa bombs, HUGE cocoa bombs, and cookie sandwiches. I won a giveaway box that had 2 cake pops (Oreo and birthday cake), 2 cookie sandwiches (sugar cookie and chocolate chip), and 2 cocoa bombs. I ended up also buying a strawberry cake pop, cookies and cream cupcake and OF COURSE their lemon crinkle cookie. The latter was recommended by another sweet Yelper! As of right now, I've tasted only tasted the lemon crinkle cookie. It was so soft, and the lemon flavor came through really well. ( Cookies n cream, bridal something, snowball, lemon, and crimson something) I apologize for messing up the names. I also got a snickerdoodle & sugar cookie. These cupcakes were delicious. My favorite was the crimson-its like a red velvet. The lemon was really good also. They were all insanely good & very sweet. They didn't have too much icing & the were perfectly sized. Gosh it pains me to write this because I've seen some of Moonlight's beautiful pieces and their cake used to be so good, but I agree the quality has gone significantly downhill. The vanilla buttercream is cloyingly sweet, I literally had a toothache after eating a piece. By contrast, the chocolate cake and buttercream were so lacking in sugar and awfully bitter that I couldn't have more than two bites. The white chocolate raspberry cake was okay, but honestly a certain Bundt chain has a much better version. I got a custom cake for my birthday and I am incredibly disappointed. My text to my husband was that it literally looked like it was from Nailed It. The ears were cracked and bumpy logs of solid fondant that were completely disproportionate from the face of the alpaca it was supposed to be modeled after. I literally laughed when I saw it. I wasted $100 and my one birthday request on this. Also, 4 cupcakes for $17 might be worth it if the cupcakes were sizeable like you get at other cupcake shops. These are standard size pans that you make at home. It really is a bummer to write this because everyone we worked with was so nice, it makes the cake that much more disappointing. read more

Yum- one of the best new cupcake places I've been to in the Dallas area in a while! They weren't super busy at 5pm on a Tuesday and there were plenty of options left. And ice cream and cake! It smells insanely delicious in here... some of the cupcake flavors that stand out to me are Snowball (coconut), Campfire S'mores, Snickerdoodle, Milk and Cookies... wish I could eat them all! They also make full size cakes and offer a small selection of cake pops, cookies, and Blue Bell ice cream. Their cupcakes are delicious! I am an experienced home baker and as such I tend to be more picky about baked goods. I can honestly say that the team members at Moonlight Bakery are excellent bakers. You can taste the love and care in their food. The cupcakes are so moist and flavorful and not excessively sweet. Even better than the cupcakes which are divine, is the team in the bakery. Susan is so warm and friendly. You can tell from talking to her that she is passionate about what she produces and takes pride in her business. The atmosphere in the bakery is very beautiful and welcoming. I love the colorful decor and cozy sitting area. My favorite flavors are the Red Velvet Crimson and Cream cupcakes. I also enjoyed the Lemon Twist Cupcakes. These were the perfect combination of vanilla icing on a cupcake filled with lemon curd. I was able to experience the yumminess of Moonlight Cakes during a recent Yelp event. It is about 20 minutes from me, which I am happy about because it will discourage me to return too often! I had a Chocolate Peppermint Crinkle cookie (actually, 2 since my fiancé did not have his), a cocoa bomb (again, actually 2) and a birthday sprinkles cake pop. I love soft cookies. Crisp cookies have their place, but not often as far as I am concerned. The Chocolate Peppermint Crinkle cookies were about as close to perfect a cookie could be. Good chocolate flavor, peppermint not too strong, and soft! Definitely recommend, as I also do for the cocoa bomb. The cocoa bomb was huge! I'm "middle aged" and I have to admit, I was still a little thrilled about watching the outer shell as it melted in the warm milk, presenting not only cocoa but also marshmallows. I was a huge fan! Finally, the cake pop. Again, I could find nothing wrong with it. I think I've only had cake pops from a certain coffee shop, and this one, without a doubt, blew those out of the water. I loved the birthday sprinkles flavor and look forward to trying other flavors! Definite 2 thumbs up from me! What really made this event special was spending some time with the incredible owners - Steve & Susan and hearing their story of growth for their business. Susan has always been a baker and would create baked goods that eventually spread by word or mouth requiring several ovens added to their home kitchen. As the business continued to grow they moved into a larger home, then to several retail locations eventually settling here in Bedford - with plans to add additional retail outlets. You can tell the pride in their business and products tonight - as they specifically detailed ingredients and cooking techniques, as well as great pairings with the selection of Turning Point Beers. If you want your teeth to rot as you eat their cupcake icing then be my guest. I love sweets! I don't know if I have ever found something I have ever said was two sweet! I thought it might have been a mistake so I tried another one 2 days later. I got a mixed half dozen from someone of my birthday, so plenty to try! The cake part was light and fluffy, but did not match the sweet and rich icing. The worst part was the icing was just so sweet that I have no clue what the flavors were. Of the 6 cupcakes the only two I knew what the flavors were the double chocolate ones that my dad purposely got me. Usually the decorations give you some indication, but for upscale cupcakes, these certainly didn't. I looked on the website and found out the flavors and the first one I ate was Sweet & Salty, but it was more like SWEET & SWEET! The caramel had no salt. What really bothers me is my dad wanted to do something nice for me on my birthday. He doesn't have the money to buy this stuff and it was wasted money. I had no interest in trying the others. I went in a gentleman helped me I asked him what was his favorite and he said the lemon so I got the lemon and I also for the strawberry. Sweet bakery ran by sweet people. I was able to try 4 of their cupcake flavors at an event and I loved them! When it comes to dessert, I try to avoid really sweet items, but their cupcakes were just the right amount of sweet and the icing on their cupcakes wasn't overpowering at all. Key lime pie - overall was decent however the vanilla cupcake took away from the lime flavor I feel like the cupcake should've been lime flavored. I attended a Yelp event being held at Moonlight Cakes last night and had a great time. We were each given 4 different mini cupcakes to try and... y'all... these were honestly some of the BEST I've ever had. My two favorites were the Blushing Bride and the Milk & Cookies; they were so rich and moist that I couldn't stop eating them. Besides cupcakes, they also offer cakes (including custom wedding cakes), cookies and cake pops - all of which look delicious.
