As a lover of sweets, I enjoy the rare opportunity to go check out a bakery and try all the sweet, delicious treats they offer. I attended a Yelp event being held at Moonlight Cakes last night and had a great time. We were each given 4 different mini cupcakes to try and... y'all... these were honestly some of the BEST I've ever had. My two favorites were the Blushing Bride and the Milk & Cookies; they were so rich and moist that I couldn't stop eating them. Besides cupcakes, they also offer cakes (including custom wedding cakes), cookies and cake pops - all of which look delicious. Steve, Susan and their staff are simply fantastic and I wish them all the best! I will certainly do my part to help spread the word and provide my own support when I am in need of some baked goods. :) read more

Oh my good, what incredible cookies. The Yelp Elite Squad always adopts several families at Christmas. This year our fearless leader, Kendall, chose Moonlight Cakes for the drop off point for our gifts for all the family's children. When dropping off our gifts we were given a little box of cookies from the bakery as a gift. There was one chocolate chips cookie, absolutely incredible and also a sugar cookie sandwich filled with icing and dusted with holiday sprinkles. Can you say sugar overload? It was SO delicious. I cut it in quarters and I am still nibbling on it. So yummy. Now that my wife and I know the bakery's location, we'll be stopping in again REAL soon. read more

I live in Austin and the baby shower was in north Fort Worth. The reviews of Moonlight Cakes looked good so I called. After the call, I emailed back a picture. I'm so glad we decided to try this shop! We had seen it a number of times coming down the Harwood and Central area ... On day I decided to give it a shot on a day that I had a few mins to kill before needing to pick up my kids and decided why not stop to see what they had. To my pleasant surprise some of the special cupcakes they happened to have that day was batman and mermaid themed! Perfect! Plus I picked up two more for my dad and I to try ... cause you know if your parents watch your kids get them a treat too ... and one for yourself for good measure! The address on google took me to the crazy cowboy. This place is actually across the street (twisted root side) and behind the chase bank. Great location and ample parking! My kids choose their cupcakes and my 2year old couldn't stop saying "woo-hoo" haha. I bought six cupcakes total and we loved all of them. Stumbled upon this little gem today and am SO HAPPY !!!!! I am upset that I didn't find this place sooner. The cupcakes and cookies are just divine ! Moist, delicious and fresh. I had the raspberry lemonade cupcake, birthday cake cupcake, tres leches cupcake and the raspberry macadamia nut cookie. Tres leches is a seasonal flavor which makes me so sad because I could eat this every day all year round. I cannot recommend this bakery enough. To start, their online ordering is so EASY. I ordered my wife's birthday cake on my phone with no problem. Second, their customer service is phenomenal. I realized I wanted to make a change after placing the online order, so I called and they said it would be no problem. Third, they have excellent follow-through. To be frank, I was worried about calling to make a change on the cake. I know it can be confusing when you're working in a busy service industry and have an online order that's been changed, but the cake was perfect. It was exactly what I wanted. I'll also add that it was reasonably priced. Fourth, it was delicious (probably the most important part of a bakery). I wish I'd taken a picture of it, but it was gone so quickly I didn't really have a chance. I will be giving them as much business as I have to offer, and I encourage my Metroplex friends to do the same. As most kids, our son usually only wants to eat the frosting; however, he eats the entire confection whenever we go here. Many of the cupcakes feature an additional flavor in the center of the muffin, making them even more mouthwatering. I've always loved red velvet, especially the cream cheese topping, but Moonlight takes this tradition up a notch by injecting actual cream cheese into the muffin! Simply delectable. The strawberry cupcakes are darling and just as heavenly as the ones I can remember our grandmother making as a child. I promise you won't be disappointed!! But... the crème de la crème is by far the raspberry beret. Oh. My. God. I wasn't initially interested in this flavor but after talking with their staff, I couldn't resist and it did not disappoint. Let's just say I have a new all time favorite cupcake. We have yet to try their ice cream (a reason to go back again!?) and aside from their mouth watering, not to mention beautifully decorated cupcakes, they also have the best customer service I've experienced in some time. Friendly people, moist cupcakes and a beautiful bakery sums this place up. The bakery is well lit and filled with vibrant cupcakes. There is also ice cream and cookies too so ice cream sandwiches are a must. The cupcakes that I tasted were the lemon tart, red velvet, wedding cake, and cookies and cream. The lemon tart is filled with a freshly prepared lemon curd with a light creamy icing. The red velvet is cocoa rich and the icing was cream cheese forward but still really sweet. The wedding cake is the most popular and has almond extract and vanilla icing. The cookies and cream is topped with a baby Oreo and the icing tastes just like Oreo creme icing. To me, I favor that over large. They have what they need to have for that space and don't overdo it with extraneous items nor do they have too little as far as decor. It is a clean, tidy little shop with a display case right in front of you and a couple tables at the door and along the wall. Really, that's all you need. The people here are definitely knowledgeable about their food, the attention to detail is amazing and the friendliness is second to none. My favorites they have here are the sweet-and-spicy as well as the lemon cupcake with the lemon curd feeling. They always seem to have something new, and the cupcakes have such an appearance that they draw the eyes. If you sit in, they give you a small plate and fork, which is handy because I'll be the first to admit I've never used a fork to eat a cupcake-I've always bit into the cupcake; but using a fork means eating it slower and it makes the cupcake seem all that much more savory. Honestly, it is bliss, and I love that they are close by. I can, and have, walked to them. For a bakery, for a cupcake shop, I recommend this place above all else. Best cupcakes ever! The level of sweetness on the frosting is perfect. The cake is moist. I tried one with bacon and it comes with a injection bulb to inject it with real bourbon! Quite the adventure. I appreciate how the focus is on the cupcakes, the shop is small and parking is small but this is the stuff small businesses are made of. The frosting is just the right amount of sweet and both the cake and frosting are totally infused with fresh strawberries. This cake is divine and I mean that. There's also a "booze" cake available every day, where real liquor is infused into the batter. I've seen a bourbon cupcake that we purchased for a friend and he loved it. These treat make an absolute great gift, office surprise, family dessert, whatever. Service is awesome, some of the friendliest faces will help you decide your sugary fate.
