I always knew this place existed, but never had a chance to stop in. Driving by the purple house and always wondering. I'm so glad I finally did. And I found out that they are leaving. :((( They are moving down to join the parent Moonlight cake company off Central at the end if Sept 2017. Now my waistline isn't complaining, but my tastebuds are screaming, 'NOoooo!'...I have been making every excuse to go there since. :) You can taste that they use real ingredients with a bit of love. The buttercream icing is killer. The strawberry is my favorite so far, 2nd to the triple threat, yummy chocolate and caramel. It doesn't matter though, i cant see how a cupcake could ever disappoint. They also have samples of the monthly cupcakes to try and they're BIG bites too! I've come here about 6 times in the past 6 months and both the cupcakes AND customer service is outstanding every single time. Ambra's is my all time favorite with Milk & Cookies and Strawberry Fields following close behind. Every flavor is worth a try though, especially their seasonal ones. They're perfect to bring to work, a party, or just to enjoy for yourself(if you're feeling naughty). All of the girls are so sweet here. The girl that helped me today had red hair and pretty eyes, but I didn't catch her name. She was exceptionally kind and gave me helpful info and the gift of excitement about their new location opening soon in Bedford. Moonlight blows Gigi's cupcakes out of the water. I attended a yelp event here tonight. This bakery is immaculate. The owners are so warm and welcoming. They have many flavors of cupcakes and cookies to choose from, and they all look delicious and beautiful. I met one of the bakers and some other employees, besides the owners, who were also very friendly and kind. The cupcakes I tasted--a bride's cake (light almond with buttercream), a lemon, a cookies and cream, and a red velvet, were all very good. The cupcakes were moist, not overly sweet and, of course, were pretty. The lemon cupcake had lemon curd in the middle. Yum. I highly recommend this locally-owned bakery. read more

There was a pretty good selection of cupcakes, most of the classics and a few unique ones. The cupcakes were moist and flavorful, I believe they all come with a buttercream frosting. They also have locally made ice cream. I can here for a tasting or cupcakes and beer. All the cupcakes were absolutely scrumptious!! Adorable spot and there are other desserts and even ice cream! This is a good spot for pictures too. I had my sons 2nd Birthday cake made here and it did not disappoint, not only was it beautifully decorated but it was super delicious! It was moist and the buttercream was really tasty. I called randomly looking for a baby shark cake and I believe it was the owner had me stop by so she could show me pictures of a cake she made her twin grandsons. They were booked on cakes but suggested a pull apart even helped me look up ideas for the theme. The boozey cake was margarita so i ordered cupcakes for parents and cupcakes for kids. We used Moonlight Cakes for our wedding cake and wedding cupcakes. First of all, their cakes and cupcakes taste AMAZING! We tasted cakes from endless other places, and nothing even came close to how delicious Moonlight's are, not to mention the numerous flavor options! Our guests are still commenting on how delicious everything was. Second, our wedding cake was stunning. They were so patient and kind during the design process and they worked with me until they were able to make my vision come to life perfectly. They are also extremely professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and easy to work with. During our first meeting they gave us important information about buttercream vs fondant for colors and design elements that none of the other bakeries we had visited had told us. In addition, we needed gluten free cupcakes for family members with celiac, and since they don't have a gluten free kitchen they not only referred us to a bakery nearby that could make them for us, but also picked them up, delivered them, and included them in the display so we didn't have to do any extra work. Finally, Moonlight Cakes was affordable and they worked with us to make sure we stayed within our budget, including suggesting ideas like fake cake layers (still frosted like the rest of the cake). They truly cared about creating our perfect wedding cake, but also making sure it was one we could afford. Overall, Moonlight Cakes provided us with a beautiful and delicious wedding cake and cupcake arrangement. I cannot recommend them highly enough. read more

I had the Boozy flavor of the month; Mardi Gras,cinnamon rum cake, cinnamon rum buttercream frosting and an extra shot of spiced rum to drizzle on top. I also had the Amore, Italian cream cake with toasted coconut and pecans, injected with a little cream cheese icing, french vanilla buttercream frosting and toasted coconut sprinkles. Meh. That pretty much sums up my opinion on these cupcakes. I'm honestly not sure what all the hype is about, I guess the HEB area doesn't know a good cupcake when they eat one. The bakery/shop is cute and smells like batter when you walk in, the selection is again meh. The day I went they didn't have much to choose from and for 3.00 a cupcake I'd expect a few more choices. I went ahead and got 2 to try. The first one I ate was horribly sweet and surprisingly dry. The employees were friendly but then again the owner was standing right there observing. Idk if they will be able to survive in the Bedford area, not everyone can afford a 3.00 cupcake times 6 yeah 18.00 for a 6 pack? After taste testing, it is hard to know which is the best as they are all absolutely delicious with the perfect amount of cake to icing and perfect creaminess to the icing. I was hoping to have a custom cake sculpted for a 40th birthday party. I called on Thursday and I was told that they could make my cake for the desired date. I asked for an appointment for a consultation. I was told that I didn't need to make an appointment, just to stop in anytime. I persisted and made an appointment for the following Thursday. Excited about my custom cake, I decided to take their advice and do a "pop in". I arrived on Tuesday morning. The shop was clean and smelled wonderful. Lots of gorgeous cupcakes on display. I asked to speak to a designer and was told that no one was available. Could I come back in the afternoon. I explained that I had made a special trip to Bedford and had been told on the phone that appointments were not necessary. Eventually the lady went in the back to see if someone could step away and talk to me. Cake designer came out and I showed her my designs. Then she asked me what date I wanted to pick up the cake. She then told me that my desired date was unavailable. She gave me a lot of excuses about why the date was suddenly unavailable. Finally I asked her to just listen to me for a minute. I explained that I wish I had been given a opportunity to reserve the date and pay a deposit prior to my consultation. That way, when they got inundated with bookings, I wouldn't have lost my opportunity to have a cake made. They did suggest another baker that might be available, so that was nice. However, now I am a week closer to the event and starting al over TRYING to find a baker. And, at least I didn't leave and make a second trip only to learn that the date wasn't available anyway...ugh! read more
