Andrew is so knowledgeable and goes the extra mile to get a hard to find record if it isn't already in the shop.

I was going down to Long Island. I remembered my friend Glenn told me all about this record store…read more It was in Mineola not far away from where I was going to Manhasset New York. Hard to get parking on the street in front of the record store. There's a few spots, but I went around to a parking lot around back behind where the hardware store in diner are. I went and it was pretty busy even on a Tuesday at around 1:15 PM. I was impressed how well organized the store was clean looking too. One of the employees notice me and said "may I help you" I said I was just looking around. I see how it's organized with the CDs and DVDs. He said in the back of the vintage records and cassettes . Everything was laid out very nicely and organized well. Lots and lots of DVDs Blu-ray discs lots and lots of CDs. Many many records as well. Prices looked great on the DVDs. Somewhere $.99 dollar $.99 $2.99 TV box sets also inexpensive. Very good prices on The Records as well. CDs as well but I didn't look at too many of them. I really wanted to check out the cassette section. They had two big sections of cassettes both of them. You had to ask one of the employees to open up the sliding doors. Except for one section with folk cassettes, and some Grateful Dead live cassettes. Immediately picked out about 10 folk cassettes . Pete seger Bonnie Raitt. The letterman, etc.. I went up to the front and told the guy to please unlock the cassette area. Lots of rock and pop from A-to-Z. Most prices were $.99 $1.99. $2.99 $3.99. Some more hard to get ones were $4.99 $6.99. Anyway, I picked up well over 30 tapes. Definitely some I haven't seen before on cassette others. I wanted to get, but were a little pricey in other stores. I told the guy was ready at the front and he came back to lock the area where all the cassettes were. He said wow you got quite a collection of tapes there. He helped carry up a bunch of them. I left them at the counter for them to start pricing. They said thank you for helping clear out some of the cassettes. Maybe not that many people get cassettes anymore. But I still have a cassette deck in my Lincoln town car. As well as a nice couple of boxes, walkmans and a nice tape deck for my stereo system hi-fi system Lots of good CDs. I looked at while they were checking out the tapes The employees were very friendly. I talked to them as they were finishing ringing up the tapes they gave me a punchcard and I got five punches. They told me the stores been there for 40+ years. I'll have to go back and look through the CDs and DVDs next time I go down there. I would definitely recommend this record store. Everything is clean, not dusty or musty laid out very nicely and clearly. There are fantastic deals here. Be careful you might spend too much money and go home with a load of stuff.

Fun, eclectic mix of vintage cds, dvds, vinyls, classic electronics, such as DVD players, stereos,…read moreand the like. You can get lost in enjoying the nostalgia of it all all day long. The owner plays a good mix of music to keep you feening for yesteryear. Bring any Classics you may have around and see what you can get. Can easily make a new friend and bond with those who have come to enjoy erstwhile. It's a but cramped and crammed with stuff but that's part of its charm.

The place is not really that big however he could have stayed in there for hours if I let him. The staff that were there gave us space to explore the place and asked if we needed help finding anything. Then they started having a conversation with my boyfriend about a record that was playing in the store. I ended up purchasing for pins for myself and he got some records. They have $5 bins and some exclusive records available. I say check them out & see what you can grab... The manager also told us about a show that he had and we actually tuned in to hear and his taste in music is great! The passion for music in this place is really refreshing.

The store itself was a bit smaller rhan expected, but still had a good selection of RSD releases still available, including all the ones I wanted. Staff was very friendly with me and gave me time to peruse their inventory to my liking. The only reason why I'm only giving 4 stars is there is much greater variety in their used vinyl than new vinyl... I don't have anything against buying used, but I prefer to buy new if I can, and their new record selection is a fraction of what they have used. That said, I still was able to find something else recently released that was not a RSD Black Friday exclusive, and at 20 percent off to boot! Will definitely go again to peruse their selection next time I'm in town.

VP (Vincent + Patricia) Records is the world's largest independent record label and distributor of…read moreCaribbean music. This record store is legendary. VP Records was an integral part of spreading reggae music all over the world - this landmark is a must-visit for music fans or collectors of vinyl records. The record store moved from Brooklyn in 1975 to its current location in Jamaica, Queens around 1979. Patricia Chin (Miss Pat) and her husband Vincent "Randy" Chin also co-founded Randy's Record Mart and Studio 17 in Kingston, Jamaica. The origins of VP Records can be traced back to the late 1950s when Mr. Chin worked for a jukebox company in Jamaica (the island). He would change out the worn records from the jukebox, which would normally be thrown away, but he had the idea of selling the 45s. This record shop has an incredible selection of Caribbean music so whether you are looking for reggae, ska, dub, rocksteady, lover's rock, dancehall, or soca you will find it here. Reggae music is much more than Bob Marley's Legend and Jimmy Cliff's Harder They Come soundtrack. Check out these artists/producers: Lord Creator, John Holt, Glen Brown, Winston 'Niney' Holness, The Skatalites, Bunny "Striker" Lee, Augustus Pablo, Lee "Scratch" Perry, and King Tubby. Besides the variety of vinyl record and CDs, the store also carries a selection of Jamaica-inspired clothing and books. I highly recommend picking up a copy of Patricia Chin's autobiography Miss Pat: My Reggae Music Journey.
