After asking several people for recommendations, I had my car repaired at Orion Auto Body, and they did a perfect job. Later, on June 13th, I took my car to the Downtown LA Hyundai dealership for a recall service. Then, on the morning of June 25th, my check engine light suddenly came on. I went to Hana Auto to find out what was causing the warning light. This was my first visit there because the owner of Orion Auto Body highly recommended this shop. The owner of Hana Auto was incredibly honest, knowledgeable, and friendly & attentive. After connecting a diagnostic scanner to my car, he told me the issue was related to the emissions system. When I mentioned that I had just had recall work done at the Hyundai dealership for that exact issue, he advised me to go back to the dealership and tell them the warning light had returned after the recall service. So, on July 2rd, I went back to the Downtown LA Hyundai dealership. They reset the check engine light, but they insisted it wasn't caused by anything they had done. The staff was polite, but I was honestly frustrated because I kept having to spend my own time going back and forth between the dealership and repair shops. Then I returned to Hana Auto on Monday, July 13th. After inspecting my car, the owner told me that my engine oil was basically gone. I was shocked and asked, "There's no oil in my car?" He opened the hood, pulled out the dipstick, and showed me that there wasn't a single trace of oil on it. Then he demonstrated using another customer's car, where the oil level reached about three marks on the dipstick. Seeing the difference made it very clear that my car was extremely low on oil. I asked if I needed an oil change, especially since I had recently changed to synthetic oil, which is supposed to last longer at another car center. The owner then asked whether the Hyundai dealership had mentioned that my engine oil was so low. I told him they had never said a word about it. Hana Auto owner, he gave me some honest advice. He said he would add enough oil for now, drive about another 1,000 miles, and then get the oil changed. At the time, my car had about 63,000 miles on it. Today it's around 64,000 miles. My last synthetic oil change was in November, and the reminder sticker said my next oil change should be at 67,000 miles. Before adding the oil, I asked how much it would cost. He said he would see how much the car needed first. After filling it, he told me it took about four units of oil, and he only charged me $40. He also gave me a great tip: after driving another 1,000 miles, go back to the Hyundai dealership, have them perform the oil change there, and take care of any recall service at the same visit. Now I completely understand why this shop is always so busy. The owner is honest, highly experienced, and genuinely cares about his customers. When I visited on Monday, the shop was packed with cars and customers. I overheard one customer saying he had been coming there since he was in his twenties, which says a lot about the trust people have in this place. The owner was even telling some regular customers to avoid Mondays because they're extremely busy. I told him, "I thought Saturdays would be your busiest day, so I came on Monday." He laughed and told me they aren't even open on Saturdays. They also close for lunch from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM. When I first called on June 25th, I planned to come around 12:30, but they explained that they close during lunch and asked me to come at another time. This is honestly one of those places I'd almost rather keep to myself because it's so good. If too many people find out about it, I'll probably have to wait even longer whenever I need their help! But they deserve the recognition, so I wanted to share my experience. The only small downside was the restroom. There wasn't any hand soap available. I asked the owner if they had any soap, and he said they didn't. When I was paying, I suggested that they keep hand soap in the restroom because I think that's a basic part of customer service. He laughed and said that in over 20 years of business, I was the first person to ever mention it. Even so, that minor issue doesn't change my overall opinion. Hana Auto is incredibly honest, professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. They absolutely deserve 5 stars, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

Here's the thing: my sweet dad, a non-native English speaker, bought me new blinker lights as a really helpful gesture. I had brought in the parts, but the mechanic informed me they were headlights and couldn't be used. Totally fair, I should've taken a look beforehand. I asked if I could leave the headlights on the counter and just put them in my glove compartment on the way out. The mechanic said yes and I left. When I came back, the headlights were for some reason gone. The owner was really apologetic after we just could not find them, he apologized profusely and said that he'd fix my headlights for free if they should ever go out. I asked if we could get that in writing, the owner reassured me that he would most definitely remember and sent me on my way. I was okay with this because they are a small business and I didn't want to ruin their reputation in any way. A few weeks after I brought my car in, however, my AC problems that Song's claimed to fix came right back. I am busiest during the school year and the weather was about to become colder so I figured it wouldn't be a problem, I could wait til I had a break. I just called back today and tried explaining my situation to the owner, but he denies ever having lost the headlights and said that if the same problem with the AC came back shortly, then there must be another problem and it wasn't their fault. I was growing frustrated but wanted to keep things cordial as I sensed he was frustrated too. I wasn't super sure that I was communicating what was actually happening with him due to language barrier, so I asked for someone who is a native English speaker so we could communicate easier. I sometimes even have a language barrier with my parents so this isn't totally unreasonable. He said that there was no one else available to speak with me, and that he didn't lose the headlights, and that he did a good job on my car last summer. He didn't ask for the date of when I came in, he didn't ask for my name so records could be looked up, he didn't apologize, he told me he wouldn't work on my car. He started becoming super rude and told me that he was going to hang up on me. What the f-ck? $661 is sure a lot to pay for unfixed AC (essential to have running AC for LA summers), stolen/lost headlights (my dad and I would have just returned them), and a blinker. Don't come here, there are plenty of other places to trust. Addendum: I almost forgot about this, but when I was checking out July 2024, the owner made a rude unsolicited comment on how I have a "small Korean face and a big Mongolian body." it was honestly so rude and out of pocket that my friends and I joked about it for awhile, but this comment was extremely inappropriate in any and every capacity.

NEW MANAGEMENT, STEER CLEAR…read more I took my Subaru in for a noise when making turns. I had come here when it was owned by Chris Ronnie, who did a great job replacing my head gasket. They said Chris was "about to retire," and acted like he still owned it, but come to find out, he sold it and is no longer part of it. Anyway, approx. $1700 and a new axle later, along with some other things they told me I needed, the noise was still there. I took it to another mechanic who figured out that it was torque bind and could be fixed for ZERO DOLLARS by plugging in a fuse to disable the AWD, which I don't need in LA anyway. When my car was at Ronnie's, they were really weird about pricing -- when I seemed hesitant about the first quote, they brought it down by offering "after-market parts," and after some research I learned that the spark plugs they wanted to use just to get the price down by $30 were actually way worse quality and would conk out after 30k miles instead of like 60 or 90k. That led me to believe they don't really care about the work they do; they just wanted me to agree to the price. They also called to say I only needed one new axle instead of two, but the price mysteriously went ... up?? I was all, "That's more than your original quote," so then she lowered it slightly, but not by much. It just seemed like they were charging me as much as they thought I would pay. And, like I said, the issue I took it in for was still present when I left. Oh ... and they kept needing to keep the car for longer and longer. They initially said one day, and then it turned into many days. I'm lucky I work from home or I would have been in a real bind. I just kept trusting them because I thought it was still owned by Chris, and I knew him to be honest. UGH.

However, Chris had sold the shop around 2019/2020 to new owners and this is my first experience with them. So, in Dec of 2020 I had called Ronnies for a transmission service and oil change as my truck sat parked for a while. They said I needed new rear brakes, gaskets, power steering pump and my gearbox needs work for ~$1,600. I get the truck back and my engine is smoking. The valve cover gasket wasn't installed correctly and I'm leaking oil. I bring it in, they seal it up, but I still have liquid gasket left smeared on the block. A week later, the new brakes are squeaking. I'm told to drive 50miles & it should go away. It didn't and I'm now told that the brake shoes they installed are defective. They replace the brakes again and then claim I now need new brake drums. I say, none of this was an issue before and you should cover the drums. They do and the problem persists in addition to it now wobbling at high speeds and shaking to a stop. It's now March. They try a 3rd time. This time machining the drums. No success. My brakes are now so hot from friction that I can smell them. I demand and receive a refund of $775 regarding the brakes- not the gasket or any other parts/labor that I haven't even been able to test yet because I still can't drive safely. I now get 2nd opinions and find the brakes were installed poorly, drums were machined too wide/unevenly, springs were installed upside down, the Heavy Duty Cardone brand I was told was used, wasn't, but an economy style Centric brand was instead. It's April and I'm still without a reliable vehicle. I return for a full refund, explain what was discovered of their work, and how I have zero confidence in their other work. I'm denied. I question if I need to report them to the Better Business Bureau and file with small claims, in which their response was, 'do what you have to do, call Trump, call Biden, we'll see you in court.' I return home and text their contact number to explain small claims suggests 14 days for the other party to do right before filing while explaining they charged me $118 for a power steering pump worth $38 on the market, in which they call to tell me to stop harassing them...
