Terrible customer service on the business side! My 3 children have been going the Moore for several years, and was reasonably satisfied with their service. However, I can no longer reach anyone there. They no longer have a receptionist to handle calls. No-one answers their calls. They seem to always be closed, and there is no way to leave a message. Our pharmacist has sent them multiple requests for prescription re-fills via email and and even FAX- to no avail. No answer of any kind. I will probably do as my pharmacy has recommended - find a new dermatologist. read more

Last December, I saw Dr. Abate in her office in Elmhurst. She is one of the three dermatologists associated with Moore Dermatology, with offices in Elmhurst and Melrose Park. I went to Dr. Abate to remove a small angioma in my face.  She suggested to remove the angioma by laser and also to remove a few dark spots in the face.  I agreed, stressing, though, that my first priority was the removal of the angioma. This was the one and only reason I went to see her. She noted a growth between my upper lip and my nose.  She thought that it might be skin cancer.  She shaved it and sent the sample to a pathology lab for analysis. I paid $250.00 cash and left. A few days later I realized that the angioma was still there.  After a couple of weeks, the pathology report determined that there was no cancer and that the growth was probably a benign, common wart.   It is difficult to believe that a dermatologist has not seen before a wart and cannot recognize it correctly. The needless shaving of the benign wart has left a large, concave, ugly, very noticeable scar in the middle of my face that is still red even after all these months. A couple of weeks ago, and about four months after I saw Dr. Abate, her nurse told me to see Dr. Abate to check the surgery.  I said that I was not going to see again a dermatologist who is unable to remove a small angioma and who cannot differentiate between malignant basal cell carcinoma and a benign wart.  A wart that can be removed by freezing, leaving no visible scar. Apparently Dr. Abate was offended by my remark.  I realize that I was very frank and not very diplomatic. But what I said is true and I repeat it here to her:  Dr. Abate, I still have the angioma, the growth was a very common benign wart, and I am left with an ugly and avoidable scar in the middle of my face. Tried calling to set up an appointment, without asking ANY information on what I was coming in for I was immediately told "Just so you know we have no available appointments for 3 months." Should probably ask what's going on with the patient to make sure it isn't urgent before saying that. Called a different dermatology office, was able to get in a couple days later. I had to have 3 biopsies. All came back positive for basal cell Cancer. From the minute you walk in, Everyone is sooooo kind & understanding - explaining what they are doing and why. Especially when one is going to slice & dice at your face and eye lids: It's Great to know they know what they are doing & why. All along the way & before they start. The Assistants to the Dr are phenomenal- I had 1st seen Dr Julie Ann Moore , Gabby was Dr Moore's assistant who prepped me for the biopsies, both Gabbie and Dr are very personable and caring. Asking multiple multiple multiple times if I was okay. Then I had another appt with the surgeon Dr Campbell: the Thing on my eye lid - is 1. On my eye lid & 2. In a precarious spot, Close to the corner of my eye, close to my nose. Honestly it's in a very bad, spot. Anyway: I met the surgeon and two of her assistants, - Everyone treats us (the patients) with 100% respect and empathy. I Thank them for treating us like people, patients that are going through something very private and sensitive to them. Not treating us like we're waiting in the line at the deli, #8, Example for me, all 3 positive biopsies are on my face. So I'm very sensitive as to the energy(s) of the people working on my face. From those giving me shots to numb the areas to the Dr's who are cutting deep into face, to the assistance that are prepping and bandaging me up to go home.. I could not imagine allowing anyone who is visibly & loud angry at their marriage partner, at my face with a scalpel.... Um no! Everyone needs to be in a good mood with a steady hand. absolutely liked Dr. Moore! I have been going to her for years, she is very knowledgeable and her staff is very friendly! They always address each of my questions and concerns in detail. Both, Dr. Moore, and her nurses spend plenty of time in the room with you never rushing. My negative experience was when I received a letter this past summer stating that they would not wait on me or family members due to a past due amount of like $130 that insurance company did not cover apparently. I absolutely love Dr. Moore! She is so knowledgable and her staff is very friendly! They always address each of my questions and concerns in detail. Both, Dr. Moore, and her nurses spend plenty of time in the room with you, so even if you have to wait a bit, it is worth it! I was originally a patient at Dr. Moore's Lombard office, but had to switch due to insurance changes. This location I am not particularly fond of. It is old and run down, as is the area in which it is located. If I wasn't thrilled with Dr. Moore's bedside manner and thoroughness, I probably would not return to this location. Dermatology for rich people only. I'd been going to this practice for years. Now that I'm on a Medicare Advantage Plan, I've been dumped. Oh yes, I could pay the full amount and ask for reimbursement, but that lets them out of the payment limits imposed by Medicare. Too bad that they put profits before patients. Interesting reading one of the other reviews here about customer service. I have to say that only positive thing about today's getting dumped is that it is the first time I've ever gotten out of their office in a reasonable amount of time read more

I was a new patient of Dr. Moore's. I had to book my appointment over 3 months in advance, and after my 3 month wait, I waited in the waiting room for an hour and a half, just to be seen for maybe 3 minutes. The doctor was training someone at the time, and mainly communicated with her instead of me, without really explaining things to me. When she asked me if I had any concerning moles/spots, she told me "raised moles aren't a concern"... even though they are irritated, outlined, change, etc. I had a few family members warn me of this sort of experience, but I thought I would give her a try. Worst service ever! I'm writing this review as I sit in the waiting room. I booked my appointment for today, 1/29, three months ago with confirmation and am now being told that I didn't have an appointment. Excuse me!! What the hell happened to a courtesy call since your "clinic" decided to change my appointment to February 12th. Not only did they have the audacity to change my appointment, they also made me wait after they took two people who arrived after me. I am not a walk-in!! Your office screwed up big time and I have to pay for your idiocy. Thanks but no thanks. This is my last visit thanks to the major mistake. Oh did I mention that they claimed that they were behind and on top of that I had to wait for Dr. Moore for 35 minutes while in the room and she was only with me for 3 minutes tops! BEWARE- THIS IS NOT A DOCTORS OFFICE-IT'S A CLINIC!!!!! This was not only the worst Dermatologist I have been to but the worst doctors office of any kind that I have ever visited. It is located in a dingy decaying professional building behind Gottleib Hospital. The waiting room is old and run down. The bathrooms smell of urine. I had to wait 2 months to get my 9am appointment which I was on time for with preliminary paperwork on hand. I asked the uninterested receptionist how long it would be until I was called. She told me there were 3 people ahead of me and it would be a while. What? Why are there 3 people ahead of me when I have an appointment? That was my first clue- THIS IS NOT A DOCTORS OFFICE- IT'S A CLINIC!!!! I waited an hour to be seen! Then the uninterested Dr Moore arrived. I told her I started to have dry skin & discoloration for the first time in my life since my pregnancy 3 years ago. She said something to the effect of - well we can't reverse the fact that you were pregnant. What! I'm a 43 year old, educated professional woman with good insurance not a 15 year old dropout! And even if I was - HOW RUDE! She did not a any time touch my skin at all, nothing. She gave me an rx for a $150.00 (after insurance) nmoisturizer for Rosasia- a problem I did not even bring up and dont believe I have. I was there for dry skin, are you telling me a dermatologist cannot help with this?She told me to buy some cleanser at Walgreens. She said other than that there's nothing I can do. I asked about laser resurfacing. She said - oh you'll have to go to a specialist. So in fact there is something else that can be done but she didnt offer it until I asked. Why? Because she assumed that I have no insurance and no money because THIS IS A CLINIC! On the way out I asked the nurse- "Is this a clinic because it feels like a clinic?". She said- "Yes, it's a clinic but we take appointments too." If this is how people on Medicare or Medicaid get treated I hope they don't come here. The entire staff was condescending and rude. If I could give them zero stars I would. Go downtown to a professional office, there is literally nothing worth while in the near west suburbs no matter how many people have drank the koolaid and will tell you how great Oak Park is! read more

I visited Moore Dermatology and have to say it was a wonderful experience for a doctors office. The Staff brings a family vibe which really shows the closeness and as a patient to really be yourself. I gave them 5 stars because for years I was battling random skin outbreaks and they were the first doctors to to accurately diagnose my problem and in turn resolve it. I recently went to Moore Dermatology and it was the best appointment I had ever made at a doctors office. The service was great and the staff really knew what they were talking about. I maybe really young but most of my life I've been battling with a skin condition. And this visit reassured me that it could turn around. Most accurate diagnosis I've ever had. This review is based on the front desk staff, not the doctors. As I sat in the waiting room, I noticed that two of the ladies were professional and polite, and one was not. Someone called in inquiring about medical records and online access to their medical info. Jan spoke with him. He thought there was an online platform, but there isn't. She point blank told him, in a rude and cold tone, "I'm sorry, but you're wrong. I've been working here 12 years and we don't have that." Then he hung up and she proceeded to complain about him to the other ladies behind the desk, laugh it off, and call him a grumpy old man. I understand she was frustrated, but it's all about tone and delivery of service. Yes, the customer was confused, but watch your tone. This is a customer you're speaking to. Explain how he can access his medical info, and offer him help with it. Is it really worth arguing and telling him he's wrong? Be professional. And if you can't, then don't work with people. read more

I have been a patient of Doctor Moore's for perhaps 20 years. She is kind, funny, and extremely skilled. She recently left her practice with Nancy Lichon in Lombard after that practice became part of a larger area medical group. She is now in Elmhurst, which is farther from my home, but I will happily drive the extra miles to see Dr. Moore. She's worth the trip! read more

Been to this practice a few times. The doctors are very eager to write prescriptions and perform procedures, but the results didn't hold up. I would rather have a doc who's more honest about what they can actually do. read more
