You can even put your things in the ottomans which is cool. Light music playing in the background. A bartender comes overs with glasses of ice water and shows us where to view the menu which is a QR code. The menu consists of 5 cocktails; I ordered the High Society and my friend ordered On the Town. We both loved our drinks. Mine came in a teacup so I felt extra bougie haha! The small, linear bar was moved from one side of the room into the center and was now a larger, semi-circle to make it easier to converse with neighboring imbibers. A main change was that, instead of the Living Room being visible to anyone that walked into the hotel lobby, it was now hidden behind a translucent wall of lights, only visible to those that entered. That change enabled the bar to be more exclusive, or "discreet", as we heard someone mention at the bar, haha. The place was reasonably crowded on the Friday evening, and we grabbed seats at the bar in order to be more social. To that end, we had some interesting conversations with both locals and hotel guest. Also, our bartender, Jose, was excellent! He was engaging to speak with and also crafted fantastic cocktails. The Espresso Martini he made for me had a very robust coffee flavor and just the perfect hint of sweetness; it was definitely up there on my list of top espresso cocktails. The bar had a list of really creative and unique drinks, and I had initially wanted to try the Kyoto Bridge with Haku vodka, sake, ceremonial matcha, and yuzu, but Jose had told me that he did not have the necessary sake for it. However, he assembled my martini with such perfection that I did not mind having a more basic drink on that visit; I could always go back to try the Kyoto Bridge and certainly will after such an enjoyable experience!

I took the train to get here and the walk is a straight shot down Montgomery. Our friend was coming from Manhattan to meet us at Monty Hall. It was her first trip into Jersey and she said it was easy for her to find the place. When you enter the place, you'll see merch setup towards your left and the ticket collectors to your right (at least, that's how it was set up that night). There's a hallway that leads you to the back of the place where you'll see the stage. It's an intimate space, but there are a couple of monitors on the right wall people who aren't so close to the stage. I ended up watching some of the show on the screens because it got crowded upfront. The venue's acoustics are very good; it really doesn't matter where you stand in the space. The sound guy(s) had things in check that night. In short, Monty Hall is a good place to see music acts.

She had her ID available on her phone, but instead of handling the situation professionally, the woman immediately got loud, aggressive, and disrespectful. She kept yelling at me and repeatedly saying she "owns the bar," as if that gave her the right to embarrass and mistreat customers. There was no reason for her to raise her voice, talk down to us, or make the situation so hostile. Enforcing an ID policy is one thing -- being rude, aggressive, and making paying customers feel targeted and unwelcome is another. The way we were treated felt racist, discriminatory, and completely unacceptable. I would never recommend this place to anyone. There are plenty of bars that know how to treat people with basic respect.
