The recreation center has a pool and gym and very active. The parking lot is normally full so I normally park on the street. I'm glad this is a city facility that is frequently used by its citizens.

Luckily we called around and found this establishment was ahead of the program. This hidden gem saved the day as my godson's were leaving the state today. The facility was clean and the lifeguards seemed knowledgeable though not the friendliest. Neither was the front desk lady. One female lifeguard was friendly though. I understand rules for safety but one rule still has me baffled. My godson was using one of their floating devices in the lap pool and he was told only swimmers doing laps can use them. Not like anyone was doing laps and I didn't see any harm using it. The price was great as well. For my children ages 5, 8, and 10 was $12.00 for an all day pass. .

The position of the two bench presses and incline bench are pushed up against the wall on the East side of the building. Right where the steel reinforcement beams are located which leaves NO space to safely spot your partner without hitting your head or back on one of those beams. You cannot even get behind them without crawling around the weights or beams themselves. This is incredibly dangerous and a major safety issue. Whomever designed the layout of the weight room does not appear to have experience with weight training. The nautilus machines and free weight areas should probably be switched. There is nowhere to safely stretch (people do it under the stairs) or do ab exercises, box jumps, etc. Someone, with knowledge of weight training, should redesign the space for efficiency and safety.

This facility has a wall of huge windows with a beautiful view of the mountains. It's kept up & clean. There's always plenty of parking...there are even charging stations for electric vehicles. Note, membership is free for Denver residents that are 60+ & those ages 5-18. With membership you have access to all 30 Denver rec centers & pools. I regularly go to two classes - one is a Cardio & Strength class & the other is Tai Chi, both are drop-in. The instructors are fun & very knowledgeable. Christine teaches the cardio class & always demonstrates modifications, so it's perfect for all levels of fitness. Maureen is very well versed in Tai Chi as well. This is a fantastic center with fabulous instructors.

My one complaint is that I wish they advertised on their Facebook page if the pool hours are changing, a class is closed, or the pool is closed. I've gone all the way over there and found out that what I was going to do isn't an option that day.

The time leading up to class was absolute chaos though. There were a set of classes that ended at 10:15 and then another set that started at 10:15. I would estimate probably well over 75 kids were either in the pool or on the pool deck - plus all the parents. Once it was time to start the next set of classes it was a nightmare trying to dodge kids getting out of the pool. I feel like there should be a better way to transition from class to class time. All-in-all it wasn't a terrible experience. We will see how the rest of the classes go.

The pool is very nice and has a little water feature for the kiddies and a step up this rec actually has decnet locker rooms! But you are allowed to leave and return The toddler play area is perfect size and a decent size ball pit. My toddler loves it and always has a blast. They have little trikes for kids to ride around on and they are a hit The main jungle gym play area is amazing. But it's easy to lose track of your kids. I'm a helicopter mom so I will climb around there with both and I can maneuver comfortably through it all. My 2 y/o can also climb around mostly on her own. But there are holes and high places so parents be careful. There's serval slides that are fast, but fun! The drop tower is a hit for my oldest. But I've seen kids shoot down it fast. The building block area is always a hit. There's also a "roller coaster" as my kid calls it. You slide down on a sled down a ramp. It's fun for both my girls They have a few different claw machines and you're almost guaranteed to get a prize the first time. But if you don't you get multiple chances until you get one. Which is awesome! Today was the first time my kids got to meet 'Huggy' and join in on the dance party. It was really cute and cool. My girls got a picture with him too after.
