This is my first time here and it checks off so many boxes for me as a mama of little kids. Even though it's located close to a busy street, it's quite serene here. The playground areas have enough for small and bigger kids to burn off energy. There's a climbing wall, a little zipline, slides and swings. There is a small paved path around the playground areas, which as a stroller user is nice. I took a stroll down towards the water, and it was nice and peaceful, even though it's right underneath 68th/Juanita Dr. There is a small covered picnic area and a couple of BBQs. There are bathrooms with a changing table(!) and the bathroom seems to be well kept. I'm not sure of dogs are allowed, but there is so much grassy area to run around, have a picnic in, or toss a ball around. This place is kind of an introverted mom's dream park. And TBH, I am not a botanist. So, I can't tell you how many rhododendrons there are, but there are certainly a lot of flowers in bloom. My allergies know this.

I often bring food from Buddha Brothas and eat with my family and the park benches are mostly clean. What I appreciate about Log Boom is that there is usually a Lake Forest park patrol car parked in the parking lot in case there is an accident. I have gone to other parks and law enforcement is non existent. I once saw a forklift with keys by the park and let a dispatcher know. I'm very pleased by this park. We brought down 2 totes that contained picnic items and towels for picnic on the beach and it was fine. I wouldn't say the trails were hard outside of the fact that it is on a hill. It would be tricky on folks who have issues with their knees or ankles though, and there are areas one could fall easily if you don't watch your step. There's a large play area that would entertain kiddos for several hours and several large fields! I was surprised they had public access to the seminary, which includes restaurants/bars and artwork. I loved the art pieces, they even have some George Tsutakawa pieces which was a nice treat! The bar downstairs has a beautiful corner seating area that has a nice mural painted on it, though I did not partake in drinking/eating. The library is also open to the public I believe 2-5p weekdays, but if you're staying here, it's open with your FOB. I had a very nice experience, it's a good way to spend a summer day. There are 2 areas for discover pass parking, but also a pay-to-park machine as well.

It's a nice place to get your hiking fix. Before this place was only about .5 miles long, now it's more than doubled in size. There's some steep climbs, but nothing overwhelming. They still haven't added much for views of the wetlands or creek running through, aside from the small little bit you get at the head of the trail. My dogs loved it here. They provide waste bags and there's trash and recycle also at the head of the trail.

The existing trees that aren't dead, are way overgrown and very little of park is accessible because of this. The beach sedimentation has built us so much along the entire shoreline and they don't want anyone swimming here at a Waterfront park. What kind of waterfront park says NO to everything. The benches on the property are all facing weeds so can't see beyond to see all of the water. The park is small, but serene. Most of the space follows Lyon Creek under overhanging foliage, with a bench and boardwalk to enjoy. Where the creek meets the lake, there is a small dock and bench to frequent. Have not seen any salmon running up the creek as of yet, but that would make my day. Overall, it is small but extraordinarily peaceful and well restored. Good vibes only.

You can also get access to other 2 Parks like the Sammamish River Park through those trails. But the most awesome part was the frisbee course. It is not like other open frisbee golf courses. Trees and plants get in-between you and the basket. But you feel around nature. It gets muddy so be prepared. There's a map at the parking lot but you must pay attention when is the throwing spot. It also has some recommendations on how you should throw the frisbee. Let other parties go through if you are a beginner. That way you won't feel pressure from coming parties ;)

I visited Pfingst Animal Acres Park for the first time yesterday evening…read more The Shoreline-Lake Forest Park Arts Council was hosting a Concert at this park featuring Portage Bay Big Band. This park is so pretty, with many tall trees and a rushing stream that apparently is sometimes home to salmon. There is a very short walking trail at this park. My new friend Heather J and I walked along the short trail and up to the pretty stream before the concert started. Heather J is great! I am very glad that we have become friends. I previously lived in Lake Forest Park for 4 years, and I had no idea that this park was here for that entire time! The hosts of this event were very gracious and so sweet and welcoming. Parking here was fairly plentiful, although I took an uber to this particular event. The event was well-attended though, despite the intermittent sprinklings of rain yesterday evening, so both parking areas ended up mostly full by the time that the event was underway. Quite a few people arrived late to this event, so I think if you arrive early like I did to an event here that you would have a good chance of finding parking right in front of this park. I brought a couple of outdoor cushions with me, and Heather J and I sat at one of the 4 (?) picnic tables there. However, many of the attendees to the event brought outdoor chairs, and I feel like this might be the way to go if I attend another event here, since getting a picnic table to sit at is definitely not guaranteed. This was a free event, but donations were requested. I did put a small amount of cash into the donation box. There were no food trucks or any other food for sale at this event. I brought 2 Bobo's Oat Bars from home, one for me and one for Heather J. The Oat Bars are gluten-free for me and vegan for her. If you are considering attending one of the events here, you may want to consider bringing a small snack or two. The garbage cans for trash (from snack wrappers, or from anything else) are located between the park area and the street. My uber driver on the way home was super friendly, and he was so interested in maybe taking his nephews to one of the events at this park that I shared the event flyer with him and he took a photo of it on his phone. So, I made sure to take a photo of the event flyer to post here, too, just in case anyone else is interested. I am also posting a photo of Heather J and I that she took on her phone and kindly shared with me, with the band stage and a small section of this park in the background. Such a nice park. It's fun to explore previously undiscovered outdoor spaces in my local area.

If you are looking for a hike, it's not here, but a beautiful and interesting walk, this is a great place. The far side of the creek ignited our curiosity with its stone built ruins, beautiful trees and the aforementioned Rhododendrons. I wish that I'd brought my camera! Sorry!
