The second time, however, was disaster on a level I could have never imagined.
I requested a 20' truck for a 300 mile move. Last time we finished before noon and I was expecting the same time frame. Fat chance with this crew. I let Lifestyle know I would pack and blanket all furniture ahed of time cuz I was placing things in a garage on the other end and could not unwrap. Still, the truck showed up full of blankets and boxes and supplies, taking up tons of space. They took 80% out of the truck, not all of it.
Only two men showed up for a big move, so I packed the truck. Maybe the foreman didn't like that a 65 yr old worked them under the table, but the inexperienced man insisted I pack the truck his way- ya' know- since i'm doing his job? I did so reluctantly, saying I would trust him but we better not run out of space. Guess what - we ran out of space and I had to leave some things behind.
The foreman refused to use the elevator, so the two guys carried everything out by hand, box by box, item by item. Furniture was roughed up, boxed were dropped, everything dumped in the street behind the truck, just a total shit show. I have a leather, electric reclining couch that unhinges for an easy move. The foreman didn't do that. Instead he removed every nut and bolt from the frame and left the supplies on the floor. Now I have couch parts, a metal frame, and a bunch of nuts and bolts. I'm not sure how it all goes back together cuz - I don't build couches with electronic moving parts. What the living F?
By the time we finished it was too late to drive upstate. The next day, on the other end, and 300 miles away, the driver showed up alone, no help. Said his worker wouldn't get out of bed. Sweet - more F'n shit show. I hired someone to help us unload the truck into my garage.
All moves suck, but this one topped the list of inexperienced workers who complained during the load up, a load up they made worse. The foreman was elbows out, no standards, hated his job. Nothing is more frustrating than a company that doesn't give a shit about you or your move, and Lifestyle definitely dumped their worst on me and my move. I'll prob be using that insurance if I can't get this 2K couch back together.
I tipped because they worked, not for a job well done. If you hire Lifestyle, you're taking a 50/50 risk.
