Morak has quickly become one of my favorite Korean restaurants. The food is consistently delicious, portions are generous, and the quality is outstanding--you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. We ordered the king donkatsu, Gimmari, Tteokbokki, and Fish Cake Soup, and every dish was fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. Gimmari was surprisingly huge. The owner is incredibly kind and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. Next time, I'm coming back for the stone pot bibimbap and kimbap. I saw a table of non-Korean customers enjoying them cutting the kimbap like steak and eating the hot stone bibimbap with forks and they still cleaned their plates despite the huge portions That said it all. My only "complaint" is that the king donkatsu is so huge it takes forever to cut it into pieces... but that's definitely a good problem to have! Gave this place a try on multiple separate occasions and every time, the food was consistently delicious. The Food: I had their Spicy Tuna Kimbap, Spicy Pork Belly over Rice and their King Donkatsu. Everything tasted amazing. The Kimbap was proportionally generous and the spicy tuna was on point with the spice level. The Spicy Pork over rice was easily one of my favorites here. The spicy marinade on the pork was flavorful and the meat itself was tender and cooked just right. As for the Donkatsu, it was absolutely huge! A big piece of pork cutlet fried nicely let me in a food coma. The Service: Service was great. I ordered at the kiosk to see pictures of some of the food items, but you can order at the front as well. Food came out within a reasonable of time as well. They have a area for utensils/water and another area for you to bring your dirty plates after you're done, so that was nice. The Atmosphere: Spacious with plenty of seating. In a shopping center so we didn't have any issues finding parking. We came around 4:30 on a Saturday afternoon. Was quiet inside and a little unsure of whether we would order at the counter or if it was table service but figured it out, you do order up front. We ordered a 6 piece of the bone in chicken with the Honey Garlic sauce, the bimbim dumplings, Squid Kimbap, and the Spam Omurice. They gave us 2 beepers to let us know when the food . They have bowls and utensils that you can grab on your own, and there are water cups and then some soft drinks near the counter. When the beeper goes off, you can retrieve your food at the counter. The squid kimbap and the dumplings came out first. Both were delicious and had a lot flavor. There was one small shell from the squid. The dumplings were crispy and pretty good. The spam omurice I think was my favorite, it was so flavorful and a big portion. Both my husband and I really enjoyed it. I've been here twice, and I'm late to write a review. Both times, I had the king donkatsu which was fantastic. It's nice and flakey, while the meat is tender. The size is so big you'll be shocked when it comes out. Very easy to order off a pretty large menu with a variety of options. I also had the spicy pork kimbap, which I ate so fast I forgot to take a picture of. I've also tried their spicy jjambong sujebj which were great, especially the broth. Service is friendly and you can seat yourself. Overall very nice vibe here. Next time I might try either the tteokbokki or the chicken!! ODENG SOUP - 13.95 This comes with a medium sized bowl of broth with some fish cakes, fish balls and a couple pieces of odeng. No rice, no other carbs. The soup was really salty. The fish toppings were fine and I enjoyed all of them. But I really could not enjoy the soup because it was too salty. I don't understand how this was almost $14. My friend ordered a donkatsu kimbap (I had a piece of it, and it was pretty unique but not my favorite) and a bulgogi burger (which he said was good but kind of gimmicky). Recently came back after loving this place. To my surprise it seems it has either changed ownership or just the entirety of their menu... Before their menu seemed pretty straight forward and had great dishes such as Korean style mozzarella sticks and my personal favorite was rabokki. They got rid of all this in favor of ALOT of fried options. Their new kiosk/menu is just cluttered with options and additional add-ons. Rose Tteobokki starts at 16 dollars and if you want additional ramyun it becomes 19. Before I think I'd be glad to spend this since it was such a trusted dish for me. To save myself the trouble of driving another 20 minutes for Korean food, I gave their new menu a try. I got the beef gimbap and their French fries (lmao yeah I know in a Korean street food place). The gimbap was good but then again it's hard as is to get that wrong...fries were horrible. Frozen and then just dropped into oil and fried. They also seem to have adopted the much hated single serve soda bottles. I would rather just bring my own personal water bottle than pay 3-4 dollars for a coke bottle. I'm pretty dissatisfied with the business direction this place has gone since their interior decor also has changed. There once was beautiful wall art and it has been shoddily painted over white with very cheap kpop related material. If you were craving morak for their originals then this is no longer the place for you. It is rather sad when a restaurant puts their bottom line over their customers. Morak took over where once Morak was. I was craving for some ddukboki, so the hubs and I decided to stop on by to give them a try. There's a kiosk right by the entrance, so it's super convenient in putting your order(s) in - we ordered: +Cheese Ramen & Half Morak Kimbop - we opted out of the cheese and the egg; the ramen seems like the instant Shin ramen, and this came with onions, green onions, green peppers, seaweed, and jalapenos; the Morak Kimbop was filled with rice, ham, veggies, and scrambled eggs +Cheese Tteokbokki - we opted out of the hardboiled egg; this came with fishcakes, onions, cabbage, green onions, and sesame seeds; the rice cake was plentiful, and the flavor was spot on - the sauce was the right amount creaminess, and it had a good combination of the spicy and the sweet; I just wished they weren't so stingy with the fishcake; the mozzarella was plentiful; it seemed as much of the veggies were the cabbage Staff were friendly and welcoming, and once your order is ready, the cool robot will bring it to your table. I think they serve Korean street food? They had Sujebi(?) which I haven't seen anywhere else. I had a bunch of questions and the person at the front was very helpful in helping me choose. You order at the front and then a robot brings your food lol. I got Sujebi jampong, king katsu, and spicy pork kimbab. The jampong tasted the same as any other solid place BUT the seafood inside tasted fresher. I really liked the texture of the octopus. The Sujebi was nice and chewy. They're about the size of a dumpling without the meat. The king katsu was recommended and I really enjoyed it. The coating is unique. It's light, flaky, and doesn't feel oily. The meat was tender and really good! It came with like a white gravy and a brown gravy that tasted like katsu sauce mixed with gravy. I prefer my katsu sauce more tangy but the katsu itself I would come back for. Plus it was huge! The Kimbab was good. Everything tasted fresh. Recommend giving this place a try read more

My new favorite korean 분식 place! The food was so delicious!!! Their donkatsu is fried perfectly and tender. The tteokbokki is also very flavorful and cooked well. But the star of the show is definitely the king donkatsu. The food was amazing, the seating area is spacious and clean, and the service was also good. I work at one of the stores close by and love this restaurant. My two favorite things for you to try would be the fried crab stick and dumpling ramyun. The crab is super good, crunchy on the outside soft on the inside. The ramyun is on the spicy side but delicious to me! Staff was super sweet and helpful!! Bulgogi bibimbop...dry meat, dry rice and fixings. Fried egg was as hard as a brick. Couldn't even cut it. The egg was literally like beef jerky. Asked for a little sauce and they wanted to charge me more. Chicken bibimbop...same as bulgogi...dry and inedible. Chicken tenders were ok. Udon soup was ok. Had a bit of flavor. Shout out to my co-worker for telling me about this place. Probably not a good thing. I'll explain further down. This place is awesome. When you first walk in, there's a little computer display to your immediate left where you can order food, or you can go up and speak to the person behind the counter, or even another display to the left on the counter. I've had this place twice so far. The first time I went with my wife on a Friday, around lunchtime after we went and saw a movie. It wasn't extremely busy, and the food came out hot and fresh. The woman behind the counter was very friendly. We had a conversation about how their AC was out in the back, so it was a little warmer than usual in there, but they had ceiling fans on. I personally didn't think it was a problem, but some people definitely get irritated over that. I ordered the kimbap, some kimchi, and the bibimbap. I think my wife had the spicy tteokbokki and the chicken. She said the chicken was really good, and the tteokbokki was pretty spicy and good. Food was incredible, and hot, and it was delivered by this cute little robot. I don't know how it knows where to go because we randomly picked a place to sit, they probably tell it where to go and it goes. We are really living in 2024. It was really cool. Anyway. Remember further up above when I said it probably wasn't a good thing for my co-worker to tell me about this place? That's because my work is not even 10 minutes from here and it isn't gonna be good for my wallet because I will absolutely order online on Morak's super convenient, easy-to-navigate website and drive the 5 miles or whatever it is to pick up this incredible food, like I did for my second time coming here. Thouroughly enjoyed my afternoon after a meal at Morak. Located in the middle of stone road shopping center near Matsu Sushi, look for the temporary yellow banner! Not entirely pictured but we ordered the donkatsu kimbap, bibim naengmyeon, and honey bee rice cake.. Morak definitely has better taste/quality than the all famous Myung Ga which is also in Centreville. I would highly recommend the bibim naengmyeon and the donkatsu kimbap.. the honey bee was not my style unfortunately. I've been to this restaurant 8 times, a few times for business during the day, a few times for lunch with my daughter, and a date night with my wife in the evening. To me, this is one of my favorite restaurants for three reasons: 1. The convenience and value - I have yet to go above $50 and I always end up with leftovers. I did the math and eating here was a far better value than Panera or even Five Guys. 2. The atmosphere and ambiance - The robot waiters are a very nice and unique touch for both business meetings as well as quality time with my 4-year old daughter. The place is not too loud where you can't hold a conversation but not too quiet where it would be awkward. 3. The consistency and quality - The boneless Korean fried chicken thighs to me are the best In NoVA (yes, ahead of Chi Mc and including the tasty spots I visited throughout Annandale and Falls Church). The Bulgogi Burger has been consistently good every time someone orders it on my side. I have yet to order something from there that has not been tasty. Add the ample parking, convenient location, and friendly non-robot staff and you'll surely learn to appreciate it as much as me. Don't regret missing out on this amazing spot.
