Dr. Moran seemed like a nice guy but very disappointed with his care. I went to him knowing what was wrong with my thumb after being diagnosed by another doctor already. He acted as if I had nothing wrong. I went basically to establish a relationship knowing that I wound need surgery in near future because I like Connecticut orthopedics having had good experience before. I also like their surgical center. Well Dr . Moran suggested a brace and some ointment, not even mentioning a cortisone shot. He ended the visit in a few minutes not even telling me the ointment or suggesti g fitting me for a brace knowing I can't wear a brace for work. Low and behold I didn't have a good experience and I'm going back to my original doctor who did my other thumb with success and diagnosed this one the same way. read more

The following is not a Twilight Zone episode, it's entirely factual. No spin. No exaggeration. A friend suggested I post it here. Thomas Moran, M.D. has been my "hand guy" at CT Orthopedics for years. Done multiple surgeries and injections on me bilaterally. Never had a problem with him or billing or front office. Nor them with me. Over the weekend the finger he said needed trigger finger surgery went viral - the tendon snapped or something. Finger was swollen 50% above normal, ecchymotic (black and blue) & hurt like hell. Called his office Monday morning with the S.O.S. Couldn't see me until Tuesday (fine). Asked to be transferred to billing to inform my retirement (social security) check not due until Wednesday, and for the first time ever, could I defer payment until then. Tony in billing said "of course! Tell them to call me with any concerns." Showed up for my appointment Tuesday morning. Front office droid insisted the doctor will not see me until I have his copayment loot. Repeated what billing had told me, which made no impression. Held my swollen, discolored finger up for emphasis, and asked to speak to the doctor. Front office droid disappears into the back, returning shortly with the message, ostensibly from the doctor. "You cannot be seen until you can pay your copayment. And no, you cannot speak to the doctor." No call received from his office later about this. Left voicemail I was sending medical malfeasance complaints to the insurer, Medicare and other places, and that I would not be back to his practice. Thus ended my 15 year relationship with Thomas Moran, M.D. and CT Orthopedics. read more

Several weeks after having a stent implanted thru my radial artery (wrist), I had severe pain and swelling in my thumb. Went to ER and they misdiagnosed as a fracture in my thumb. Splinted it and told me to followup w orth doc. Other orth doc said there was no fracture, just arthritis. After a number of visits to other doctors, Dr. Moran, immediately diagnosed the problem as an issue with tendon / sheath and gave me a cortizone shot at the base of my thumb which resolved the issue. He is gentle and attentive. Terrific doctor - grateful I found him. read more

Very happy with Dr. Moran. I have been seeing him for 16 years. And the techs, and front desk staff are amazing and fast. He has a wonderful bedside manner and he is very knowledgeable and knows what he's doing. Highly recommended! read more
